http://www.androidcentral.com/motorola-seeking-out-beta-testers-motorola-electrify-update
I know it says Motorola Electrify as soon as you see the graphic you will realize, the Electrify is for all intents and purposes, the Motorola Photon 4G, with a 4.3-inch display, Android 2.3, dual-core processor, 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera, HDMI and DLNA output at 1080p.
Who knows maybe the update is and update that we already have to our phones so it is for naught, but maybe its an ICS Update and Sprint said 'Whoa! You are not rolling out a 'public' beta test, Not on our Network buddy!'
Something to keep an eye on.
They actually already did this for the Photon.
I think its too late to join the beta program now though.
Too early for ICS.

Your right but still it could be that they want more user input on new features but i doubt its ics the source was just released like the other day

Given that the Tegra 2 is capable of recording 1080p video, I was wondering how to enable it. The camcorder app only allows up to 720p recording.
From Google searching, I can only find articles that say Motorola is planning on releasing an update to the Atrix to enable 1080p recording. Do they plan on doing the same for the photon?
Aparently, there is an camera apk mod that can be used to enable 1080p recording on the Atrix. Anyone had any luck with it on the Photon? EDIT: here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079760
I bought the Photon because of the Tegra 2 and assumed it could 1080p record. Guess I should have done my research, but nVidia and Motorola kept claiming that 1080p is possible and will be included on their Tegra 2 phones.
yes you can by editing some files...its easy to do.....but you will not like that
its a crapy imagem.....I realize the camera on photon its the same off atrix...the hardware its the same....If ou put alien rom from photon into atrix, you will get 8mpx camera :S

Is it possible to get this to work on Photon 4G. The two share very similar specs including tegra 2.
I'd love to get a working 1080p recording ability on my Photon.

I am using my old DROID X right now as a tablet, but I am a Photon owner, Motorola is releasing an update for the ATRIX, and we have the same camera app/hardware specs, so we should get 1080p from their app if we pull it when they get the update, -or- Motorola gives us a 1080p update, which we're hoping will be soon.

Couldn't we suggest that to them on the Motorola forums?

Yeah, I read, at least on the atrix, its 1080p resolution but at a lower bitrate and FPS.
I still want to give it t a try. I tried adding a 1080p entry into the build.prop, but I can't enable it with either the stock camera or the lgcamera.
Do you know what the exact editing should be?
Just want opinions. Thank you

Without sd card reader, half the ram, single core cpu, lower resolution screen, IMO the Atrix, hands down. Nexus S is a phone of the past.
Sure, it's a Google Phone, it gets everything first, but with CM7 picking up it's pace as it has been on the Atrix, I don't see why anyone would pick the Nexus S instead.
Go go Atrix!
Agreed the Atrix has better specs. The Nexus S is a nice phone, I've gotten to play with it because my cousin has one. The Atrix is superior hardware and the Nexus S will get the official Google updates first. If I was going to pick between the two, I would definitely choose my Atrix, but I would also be happy with a Nexus S. I've been running the newest CM weekly with fingerprint for about 48 hours and have been very impressed with it.
I have the atrix running cm7 oc'd 1.45 but I wanna trade for BNIB NEXUS S WHITE
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Depends on whether you are planning to load a custom ROM. If not, definitely don't use the Atrix. If yes, then the Atrix is probably better (unless you need a bigger screen or are a camera buff).
I love the atrix but, I have to ask....
If your going to buy a new phone why don't you get... "A new phone"?
Samsung Galaxy S II ?
Samsung Galaxy Nexus ?
and yes stock moto sucks.
Because I'm not buying I'm trading.. know anyone that wanna trade atrix for galaxy nexus. Yeah. Lol

But will I notice a speed difference with it overclocked??
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
It's pretty fast anyway without overclock, but when you get over the 100 app mark then you notice that it doesn't perform as fast. But overclocking to 1.45Ghz makes a significant difference to the speed.
So oc'ing the ns however fast(I haven't looked it up)would be nearly the same speed I'm having now on my atrix?? Or will I noticelag on the ns

You will notice lag. No matter how much you OC it, it won't be as smooth as the Atrix.
That's not saying the NS is a bad phone, but the only time I've used mine since i've had my Atrix is when the ICS SDK port was released.
I would go with the Nexus S. The probable lack of Sammich on the Atrix is a deal breaker for me.
I am trying to get a generic USB gamepad to work on the 2.3.5 webtop on sd with the dependencies fixed. Any suggestions as far as what to install in synaptic?
Games are going to run like crap in webtop if that is why you are doing this. Are the USB ports accessible in multimeida (e.g. lid closed) mode?
I have a few games working on the webtop like the port of Starcontrol 2 and a couple of top down space shooters. The main reason I was wanting a usb gamepad though was for GTA3. I have been playing it in the mobile view of the phone expanded to full screen. Works great and has only a little framerate drop.
I've installed a few packages that say x driver for joysticks and usb hid support but still no luck. I don't even see the joystick listed anywhere in hardware.
Usb and bluettoth controllers only work properly on 3.1+ versions of android, lets hope ICS fix our "problem" hehe

Well i guess I can wait a few more days.
Thanks guys
I doubt webtop will work with ics anytime soon, so ya better be patient.

We still don't know if Motorola will release ICS for Atrix. If they do, I'm sure there will be an updated webtop with it.
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
I meant with CM. Of course webtop will work with ICS if it comes from moto, but it'll be some months before it even becomes feasible for a release.

Kindly help me to choose from ATRIX or Thrill
i have ARIX but i got an exchange deal with Thrill + Rs.1500($30) INR
From all specs i understand Thrill is overall better phone but
atrix has 1GB ram where 512 in thrill(but still its fast)
thrill has very poor life where atrix has 2000 mah battery.
atrix has better developer support.
thrill has 4.3" 3D screen
What i am concerned is:
1. if thrill play 1080p mkv download from net without convert
2. Games compatibility with thrill
3. video Gtalk
what you people wants to suggest?
to me the RAM is a big deal, the dev support is also important. I would stick with the Atrix
+1
1 GB of RAM is indeed a big plus on the Atrix.
Having 1 GB of RAM will allow (theoretically) an upgrade path to ICS or whatever comes next. Having actual ICS developers successfully working on this is another issue altogether though.
Also, you pretty much summarized all the features that makes the Atrix a better option compared to the Thrill. Although you forgot to mention the biometric scanner on the Atrix.
However, playing 1080P MKVs on the Atrix (or any other smartphone that I've tried) is not really good. At least on the Atrix you'll have to resort to a third party app like MX Video Player and use Software decoding since there is no hardware acceleration MKV codecs as of yet.
Video calls of the Atrix work awesomely good as you may have noticed.
In the end, the best phone is the one you end up using and liking, no matter what people say.
Cheers!
Rayan
And don't forget the lapdock! Once you hack that and turn it into a (mostly) real linux box it's quite nice.
Thrill is better than atrix. and already have a full working ICS port, and,well... Atrix have a buggy kang of cm9...
Choose a phone thinking in the software, not about hardware.... I learned this with the atrix

Agreed!
The lapdock, or should I say the Webtop option on the Atrix makes it better, much better in my opinion. Also LG is not the best in hardware design, all their models look and feel cheap and bulky, also in my opinion...
Does the Thrill have HDMI output?

thanks all of you for sharing ur experience.. this is really helping me out.
Atrix...my first Android and will be my only one until I see something better. Thus far, even the galaxy nexus is no match.
thats odd i had to go see since someone said working ics port and it looks more like they are still working with froyo mostly and some nightlies of cm7.anyway atrix all day if your itching for a new phone wait for a quad core to come out in a few months.if you have a dual core phone now anything you buy would just be a lateral move
Always Motorola, LG had never had a great reputation with the reliability of their hardware. Motorola always has better battery life, better call quality and better signal reception. Those are important right !!!

512 ram on LG, makes me feel its gonna be slow the phone and the 1500ma battery wont last like Atrix,,,, I prefer Atrix, (Atrix comes with nvidia)
Since this lovely device supports Bluetooth 4.0 I was wondering if there were any headsets, hell anything else really, that we can use to take advantage of it. Thanks for looking and any possible answers.

I use motorola elite flip. Its 3.0 but the fact it has nfc is good for futures use. If rumor is true about nfc chip in Razr. You could go up to 300 feet with the NFC pairing.
