So today while I was at work I lost cwm recovery I didn't know what to do because my phone kept rebooting so what I did kept trying till it finally turned on what I did was I
1.download cwm zip
2.download bootstrap apk
3.installed bootstrap apk
Installed recovery
After that hit recovery mode
4.in bootstrap recovery mode
Flashed the cwm zip
5.pulled battery
Held the volume down and power button until I got to android recovery and got my recovery
I hope this helps anybody that the same thing happens like me
Maybe its been discussed before but couldn't see it
Interesting. I'm used to just wiping the recovery with moto-fastboot. But I'll have to remember that too.
You sir deserve a cookie. Thanks for this

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167373 And scroll down to the CWM section. It is best to install this via moto-fastboot. I dont all this last nigh started with the full 1.8.3 sbf and worked my way all the way through and everything installed correctly. You prob. cant instal the new one cause you have to delete a file with root explorer before installing the new one.
The tenfar cwm that I installed was a .img that I flashed using fastboot. If you want an easier solution, just install rom manager from the market and flash its version of cwm and install the rom that way. ATRIX is now officially supported. One thing to note with this method: the cwm does not allow installing a zip from an external sd card, so be sure to move the zip to the internal before installing.

I am not sure exactly where I went wrong, but
1. I rooted and unlocked without any problems.
2. Downloaded CMW recovery.
3. Booted into recovery
4. Wiped
5. installed Gingerbread 2.3.4 ROM from sd card
6. After complete, wiped again
7. Rebooted
Now all I see is the Moto logo with "unlocked" in the top left corner
I cannot install I new ROM, since recovery won't read sd-ext and I can't mount usb. Please help!!

I know what I did wrong, and I know the jeering may commence, and that is fine, just please also offer advice on how to fix.
I did not use the Tenfurs Recovery. Out of habit of using Clockworld Rom Manager- Eris, Droid, Captivate, that's what I did before reading up enough (overly excited, I know!). Now I'm stuck and cannot get past the boot logo. I keep looking around for a way to push Tenfurs recovery (or anything) using adb and I can't get things to work since I cannot boot. Any suggestions on steps to take?

I feel silly, but all is well in Moto land now. Of course I got myself into all of that trouble because I was impatient. I did the following to fix everything. I know these details are elsewhere...
Fastboot from Windows:
fastboot.exe -w
fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery.img (tenfar's)
fastboot.exe reboot
flashed Gingerbread and rebooted. I'm good to go!

Flashed cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img via fastboot
Flash su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip via recovery
Installed ClockworkMod
Attempted to install recovery via CWM, as it would not let me take a ROM snapshot without it
Now I am unable to boot into recovery mode. Attempted to manually flash recovery with CWM 5.0.1.0, CWM 4.0.1.5, and TWRP 1.0.2 with no success. All attempts to get into recovery mode bypass and go straight into the normal mode boot.
just like a dumb ass I did the same thing u guys did exactly now the **** don't work it won't go into recovery now I'm sitting here like ain't dis a *****

I think too!
Because I flashed official recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img and
recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-shooter.img to my phone via fastboot
and no ones works.
So I think official clockwork recoverys only available for cdma EVO 3D at the

Only recovery which works for EVO 3D gsm,I think,is
cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img,which made by Revolutionary.

Try open Rom Manager Again, and Select the First option, to Flash Recovery Again! If you have a WiFi connection you can Connect to, Try that Before Flashing the Recovery Again... Sometimes if you have a shaky signal you'll get a Bad Download!
GoodLuck!
Today is opened my Rommanager and try to flash cwm and now there is also a GSM version. And I can say it works like a charm.
CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 for GSM EVO 3D available in ROM Manager actually. However, it has the famous power-off-no-charging bug.

At first,I get S-Off via Revolutionary tool! Then I flashed "cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img" via fastboot and "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" from sdcard.
But after downloading and install ROM Manager from Market it wont let me install
the new recovery img!
Phone freezes or get off and only boot to the HTC splash image.
I also tried to flash "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned.zip",but same problem.
Only solution to get phone working again,I did restore the backup of my
stock ROM!
Anybody have same problems with ROM Manager?

I'm on a CDMA EVO 3D and I ran the revolutionary s-off process.
I would think the process would be the same between the CDMA and GSM versions, but I could be wrong.
I've seen on his twitter feed he has been making updates to the recovery. I had no issues opening the app, pressing download latest recovery and then pressing reboot into recovery. Worked flawlessly for me.
Does ROM Manager download the new recovery properly? Does it say it flashed the new recovery successfully? Does it reboot into the new recovery?
Which part of the process is not working for you?
The more detail you can provide the easier it'll be to help troubleshoot!

I am guessing that you have a GSM phone since you have a Deutschland flag? I don't think that the CMW recovery in Rom Manager works on GSM, only CDMA. There is a recovery in the GSM section that is based on the CMW recovery. If I am wrong, let me know.

Boot into recovery menu works with ROM Manager, but can`t download
and install the newest cwm recovery!
The statusbar of downloading and installing the recovery shows always 0%
for 10 or 15 minutes and then phone freezes.
Maybe the mobile network is the problem, because ROM Manager says we should
use Wi-Fi connection!
Is there a way we can download the image of Clockwork separate from using ROM manager?

Hell yeah. Thanks a bunch!
go to koushs website and get the recovery image from here

Anyone having success in installing Clockwork manually through the Terminal Emulator? I installed the flash_image file, placed the image in the root of the sdcard, ,su'ed, entered flash_image recovery /sdcard/clockwork.img, but for the life of me it won't recognize the file giving the stupid no such file error. Grrrrrrrr....
What's bugging me is that this is how I did it for 2.3.3 while I was rooting it. Makes me want to throw something.
Not tested yet ,but why you don`t flash it as "PG86IMG.zip" from sdcard
via booting into bootloader?
Example attached:
Appreciate the link Ganii, but I enjoy doing it manually. However, I did find a substitute method that will install it without leaving the native android GUI. It's joeykrim's flash image gui app. It's pretty good and works great.Makes me a little bit lazy, but it'll have to do until I find a blog.so file.
Help me please some one. I am having a similar problem with my EVO 3D CDMA. I rooted via HTC method, install CWM, ROM Manager and every thing was fine. ROM Manager got a updated to flash latest CWM to 5.0.2.0. Didn't notice anything at first, but when I try to boot into CWM my phone just reboots itself instead of recovery. So I'm guessing I don't have any type of recovery. Someone please help me fix this!!!! Also one more ?, I am kinda new to all this I had a blackberry before getting the EVO 4G then move on to to the 3D anyway if I run the RUU will that erase my SD card?

I know that is why it is weird.. whenever i try to wipe data using 5.0.2.7 it suddenly restart and cant flash anything even my nand backup my phone becomes an endless bootloop.. and since i can't flash older or other roms using 5.5.0.4 that is why i did downgrade to 5.0.2.7
But in 5.5.0.4 i can wipe and flash the superwipe script then flash back to his rom which is the BulletProof v2.5.0
Will 5.5.0.4 works on the official t-mobile ruu rom with root already?
P.S. i know about the PH85IMG.zip to go back to stock

Love your work bro but your drama is rediculous. Your threads appear and dissapear and then reappear and then you say your gone and then you say your back, now your gone again. Bye.
I have never seen any other developer do any of those things btw. If they get upset at whatever, they stay off the forums a bit, cool down, and come back. Or they don't come back. Thats fine. But they dont delete their threads then recreate them then ask them to be deleted again. Stop confusing the people that look to these forums for help on their devices. If you are upset at XDA fine, but don't take it out on your supporters or the people that depend on you.
lol I find it funny how they are named "easy method" , "hard method"
They're all easy!
There is really nothing you can really do wrong if you read the 4 line instructions lol

No need just put the bootstrap apk a zip file and name it update.zip the power on via power button and vol down, then go to Android recovery then hit vol up.
From there go to update.zip and flash it and reboot recovery, then boom in bootstrap recovery
