[Q] This is my last hope. Can my camera be saved? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

My phone's camera stopped working. The last thing it ever saw was this timelapse I made.
I used Clayframes, and I left the phone on my DIY tripod unattended for a couple of hours. When I got back, I discovered it only shot for about an hour or less, and the message "Internal memory low" was on the screen. Weird, because Clayframes only writes to the SD card. Anyhow, I saved the .avi, freed some space, and forgot about it.
When I tried to shoot again, the camera wouldn't work. Not the stock camera, or Vignette, Camera360, RetroCamera, Camera Fun.. nothing worked. So I came for help with you and reddit, and after an epic journey, I installed CM7.
The camera still doesn't work. WHAT. THE. HELL??!?!?!
It does the same thing: black screen, then force-closes. Am I screwed, and have to replace the phone, or is there something I can do? I'm desperate here ='[
Edit: And I forgot another thing that happens, since the camera failure. Something is draining my battery fast. It started before flashing CM7, and it's still happening.

can you try to clear the data for Camera under applications?
idk if this works but try to wipe dalvik cache too

The dalvik cache was wiped before flashing CM7. Lemme try the camera's data.

Nope, still the same.

I think u should download latest firmware of your country and flash it.
Now try the camera.even if it is not working you have your warranty back take it to Samsung care center .I think there is no other way.........

Yeah, I also tried that before CM7 and ended up with a Polish firmware. I'm in Mexico.
Hehe, I'll try with Kies once I'm ready to return the phone, if they still make my warranty valid. Thanks mate..

u can try fixing permissions in cwm...well i duuno if it will fix ur problem.....

never ever fix permissions on cm7 they might solve camera problem but will give u alot of other problems.this had happened to me.this is good for stock rom but bad for cm7............

If another app don't work then it is most definitely a hardware issue.

:sigh: Oh bother.. yeah well, I'll have to do that.. revert to stock and see if they can repair it or give me another one under the warranty.. Thank you all very much guys.

i alos face this problem after flash with cooper rc cyanogen rom but after flash with wxk2s 2.3.5 my device working great first mount device from clockwork mode recovery than flash your device with help of odin download this rom from androidadvices.com
i flash cyanogen after 2 hour spent with this crap..........

Do you have tried to download another camera application.

@maheshsingh89: I don't think it's CM7's fault, since it happened exactly the same with the stock rom, and that's the reason I flashed another one.. I'll keep it in mind though, and use that rom as a last resort. God, I hope something works :[
@kevinkrs: Yeah, I tried lgCamera and still the same. Before flashing, with the stock rom, I tried with about 6 different cameras, that's why I flashed CM7 but it still happens.

Its a hardware problem. So now ur only option is to flash stock & give it to service center.

Yup.. I'll try to get someone's original rom. I can't find the right one for my region on sammobile.. I think my best shot is to ask for a friend's phone that is just like mine, then install CWM and backup his rom, then flash that in mine.

You might get a md5 mismatch with that

Are you serious? Damn.. so what can I do, just find the correct firmware, among the ones that say "Provider" or "Americas"?

Don't think there will be a mismatch.

No you wouldn't. md5 sum checking is simply a standard procedure to ensure the overall data integrity is intact with no missing pieces because realistically speaking, it is virtually impossible for the entire backup file to be stored as one contiguous file in flash memory.
This is owing to the fact that whenever the system requests read/writes to the sdcard or even the internal NAND chip, it has to queue the requests and access/write to different sectors in a particular pattern so as to ensure maximum service lifespan.
flash memory has a finite read/write operations therefore the complicated algorithm and thus the need for md5 checksum.

[Q] First phone mod and FAIL!!!

Need some ideas on where to go next.
*Phone: Samsung Vibe (T959) running Froyo 2.2 stock
*Rooted with Super One Click
*Ran backup with Tit BU
*Ran the 3e fix to get rid of e sig requirement
*Tried to install the Voodoo lagfix and it went through all the "normal" steps including the computer woman talking me through everything and then....
it just keep booting back into Android system recovery <2e>:
Final entry is:

Installing Multi CSC
I've rebooted 10 times..reinstalled packages 10 times and nothing.
Removed Batt, Sim and SD and also tried restarting and reloading packages....still it just boots back to recovery.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Is your phone a 4g
No it's 3G.
Hm, if you can find a way to mount your internal sdcard, you should flash the update.zip that gives you clockworkmod recovery, then from there, flash the kernel again. (voodoo lagfix)
The market has sgs kernel flasher, any 2.2 modded kernel will give you the proper cwm.

Thanks, yeah but one issue I have is my USB cord is really sketchy and it's a ***** to get it to connect. Otherwise I'd just ODIN to stock JFD and start over.
I finally got it connected to run the 3E fix and thought I was home free since I could just flash ROMS from my SD card going forward. Who knew the first one I tried would sink the ship...LOL!!!

Just to be clear...I don't believe the cable itself is bad, I believe the micro USB connector on the device is bad...I make that assumption based on using 3 seperate micro USB cables all with the same result...but maybe, hopefully, I'm wrong.
I've also tried multiple PC's with both XP and Win 7 on them.
Thanks.

[Q] Need Serious Help Troubleshooting a Problem

Anybody that thinks they are one of the best if not the TOP troubleshooting helper around, Please let me know if you are available after 5 today. I dont have a lock screen anymore and when I hold the power button down, the device shuts off instead of having the options to reboot, power down, screen shot, whatever else available. I am rooted, but I did try going back to stock and had no luck with the lock screen. Also, I cound a backup on a different MicroSD card and tried to restore that. It worked fine, but never gave me the lock screen or power down options again. Weather you want to talk on the phone, chat, or email. Please reply here or email me at [email protected] Thank You!
Sorry but we don't have a ranking system here. You get what you get . . .
The power off menu is in the framework of the OS. Have you flashed anything with CWM/TWRP that could have changed the framework? Almost any mod could be a possible cause.
Did you use a theme-setting app? These apps change the framework and that includes the lock screen too.
Have you restored a backup recently?
Post your rom version and apps you installed recently.

I'm sorry you felt the need to take what i said the way you did. I was simply stating what i said the way i did because nobody could ever help me with this. I am currently rooted on stock ics. I didn't even have a lock screen after i flashed back to stock on Odin, then used kies to get the latest ics. It doesn't make sense. Do Tippy have any idea how i could put this back to normal? It's a pain having to rely on go locker and go launcher. Also, when i hold the power button down, the phone just shuts down, with no options like normal. It's crazy. I appreciate your help either way. It won't let me flash a different ROM right now. Gives some error. I just want to be fully stock with a lock screen and power menu options them go from there.

The issue is that my phone is not as it normally should be..with options after holding down the power button, and with no lock screen...even after successfully going back to stock, these things were missing...

Are you going back to stock ICS or gingerbread? I would Odin back to gingerbread and start brand new. This will solve any major issue for sure. But only do it if you have the things you need to get back to where you are, like the GB root, cwm or twrp, and your roms. Let me know if that helps

I can let you know up front this did not work. I did this in the beginning. Went back to stock GB then had to use Kies to get to ICS. This did not help my issue/problem at all. Still no lock screen. Or again, any way to get help with everything in the actual framework of the whole device? Anything anybody could do to help me with would be amazing. Thank you for everything again!

Idk but I did warranty claim with one of my notes and Samsung didn't say anything about the flash counter after. But they also sent me the new phone first then I sent mine back, but like I said they didn't say anything after.
but now that I think about it, the lock screen is not a device issue. it comes different in every ROM in the framework res.apk! I don't see how that's even possible? The entire frameworks flash and the device can't on its own decide not to install that especially not on stock GB. For you to Odin back to GB and not have a lock screen on GB is just crazy. Nothing out there I'm aware of can do that and not brick the device. You have to bring that device back foreal. That's screwed and if you do fix that pm me and tell me how!

Will do. You see why it's crazy now!? It's ridiculous! Never heard of or seen this problem ever..I'm not new to Android or Android troubleshooting atall. Just this blows my mind!
There is no warranty issue here.
I asked several questions about what you have done, but you didn't inform us.
You never said what recovery you have. The simplest solution is to reboot into recovery, wipe all caches, factory reset, then flash a stock rom.
If you can't do that I would use Odin to flash a stock rom.
Those are your options.

I have tried to answer every single question to the best of my ability. Sorry I did not answer your question properly. I was on CWM recovery but Just now again I flashed back to STOCK using Odin. Meaning I have stock recovery. I still DO NOT HAVE a lock screen or any options when shutting the phone down. Those "options" you gave me are no longer available. I did all that. I am about to try to go to a friends house to flash to ICS using Kies...which still will give me no lock screen or options when holding down the power button. There is obviously a deeper problem here. I hope somebody could help me solve this issue. Please I am begging here It is horrible!

Why isn't flashing a stock rom using Odin not an option? Odin is the pc software Samsung created and uses for their work.
Kies didn't work -- try Odin3 1.85

Again, I feel like a broken record by repeating this SEVERAL times but Flashing Back To Stock Using ODIN Does Not Work! I just said that I did this in my post before last. I finally have managed to get cm10 nightly to flash on my device. When I flashed this, it gave me the lock screen back along with options when I hold down the power button. Thank you all for your help anyways. I guess this is as good as it will get.
When you flash a rom with Odin, it reformats your phone, like a clean slate, then installs the new system.
When you say you flashed back to stock, did you use a .pit file, a .tar file, and a .bin file? If not, you are not flashing back to stock -- you're just adding up a mess in your phone.
If you use Kies, then use the emergency firmware recovery, it will supposedly do the same thing as a correct Odin flash -- reformat then install a clean stock rom.

adb reboot nvflash - anyone tried it?

Curious if anyone has tried this on the Sprint version with/without success (it backs up your EFS to your internal storage). I'd be careful if you want to try it though, my Note is bricked and I don't know if that caused it (it looked like it was successful) or when I was enabling/disabling KNOX notifications for an app I released. Granted, it could have been a coincidence and unrelated to both, but I doubt it.
I was unable to use Odin to restore the phone. I can get into Download mode, but I've tried numerous combination of using Garwynn's .pit file, the official Samsung stock tar, formatting data/cache in stock recovery, and enabling Nand Erase All option in Odin. The phone just comes up and says "Process system is not responding", reboots, and does the same thing over and over. Current binary shows Samsung Official, system status says custom. If anyone has any ideas on that, I'd love to hear it
But I'm really curious if anyone tried adb reboot nvflash this before on the Sprint version.

Thanks for the link, but it didn't work. On the Sprint version, efs is mmcblk0p11 (12 is modem1) but no go. Seems like the issue was directly related to backing up the efs, I guess KNOX thinks that someone might be trying to pull some info from the phone that it wants to keep secure? Very silly that it would let you run that command without any warning. I ran that the other day on a friends GS3 and that's how I found out about it.

Thanks man, I will go get the phone exchanged at Best Buy tomorrow. I'm home for the weekend and they wouldn't exchange it last night at the store here (used to work there) cause I didn't have the box. Apparently, they need that to get credit for phone returns now or they get hit with the full cost of the phone. I was kinda ticked off about that, but I do still have the box back up at school, so I'll get it replaced tomorrow. The thing that really ticks me off is what if I didn't have the box? You think you can deny a return within 14 days if I don't have the box? I would have fought it at that point, but I figure why cause an issue if I can just handle it tomorrow.

So, to be clear, you suspect issuing that command, caused the problem? If so, there shouldn't be an issue backing up EFS, via other means (like TWRP recovery). Does that sound reasonable, or am I way off?
By the way, thanks for all you do for the community.

Its sorta my ONE FREE CHANCE I know this offers up absolutely NO help-lol-but indeed-the same exact situation happened to me but ONLY after using a TWRP restore that I had only a few hours before, created as a fail-safe. After that point, I tried every single thing you had mentioned-only 3or4x over! DO NOT RESTORE A NANDROID BACKUP is the prime lesson learned

Wow, really? I've restored nandroids, at least 10 times, in the 4 days I've had the phone. Maybe I'm just lucky. Thanks for the info, though.

So, to be clear, you suspect issuing that command, caused the problem? If so, there shouldn't be an issue backing up EFS, via other means (like TWRP recovery). Does that sound reasonable, or am I way off?
By the way, thanks for all you do for the community.

Yes, I believe that to be the issue. I don't want to test it again though lol I hope to have a solution soon for backing up EFS in a safe way

Restoring won't cause the issue I had, if anything, you'll get FCs and knox warnings that can either be fixed with my TB Restore Fixer app or using a kernel that is SELinux permissive.

[Q]Help with experimental cm11 please...

Hi everyone. This is my first post...anyways, been playing around with a gt-i9100 and have flashed many ROMs successfully. The latest (and best) being slim saber. I THOUGHT it was soooo easy! Haha! Wrong! Recently flashed the experimental cm11. Did the customary cwm backup, wiped cacheband partition, formatted, and wiped dalvik. Installed and Booted up fine. From reading that thread I'm experiencing the same common problems. The two worst are the battery level is out of whack and cwm can't read the SD card or micro SD. Smaller problems include can't adjust screen brightness and any apps on SD get deleted after reboot. Other smaller issues also. The overall speed is great and battery life is better than 4.3 ROMs.
Now, the real problem...because cwm can't read SD, I can't go reinstall my backup, which was my plan. Unable to flash new because downloads also go to sd, which is unreadable. Performed a backup of the current rom and its going to the phone memory. Is there anyway to move my nanadroid backup or new ROM there so cwm can see it and I can flash or any other suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Man Jim, u gonna hate me lol. Unfortunately apolo 6.1 is a zip file, and as far as my research has gone, no way to convert it to tar for odin flash. any other suggestions? I think the only way might be to revert to stock and root again like bhavstech recommended. I'm not desperate, as it is still usable and I have another phone so I'll wait a while and hope someone can enlighten me...thanks!

LOL - I forgot!! I think there is a tar file for 4.1 - use that, or use latest dori (either 8.43 or 9.43) it doesn't matter which because you will be re installing your back up which will have its own recovery img.
Hope this helps :cyclops:

Hey Jim I got it fixed using dori! Funny because the latest 4.4 addressed both of my major issues...stubborn me decided to try it out and I gotta say its pretty good! Stable but just a few broken apps and small issues. Gonna five it a try as a daily driver...thanks again!!!!
use odin to flash tar and then install and older rom which is functional with the sdcard. and then flash back your backups.

S6 Edge Keeps on Restarting/Crashing

A good day to all!
I have had an issue with my S6 edge (SM-G925F, Philippines Globe Carrier Version) for months now wherein it keeps restarting/crashing. The problem persists so randomly, sometimes multiple times a day or sometimes a day or two without it. I've already tried everything I could find in the internet, such as; deleting the cache in recovery, factory wiping the phone, and flashing the newest firmware i found for it on sammobile. Noting seemed to work. This is my last attempt in fixing the phone before I give up. I hope someone can give me good advice about this.
So nobody knows how to fix this? I don't care if it's a hardware problem i just wanna know
yh man, same problem...i cant even boot to the system..is your led flashing blue?

Is the phone currently working?
It sounds like it could be the hardware failing, could be the emmc failing.
The only thing to suggest at this point is to wipe data/cache in recovery and flash a new firmware.
Or try a custom ROM. If it happens on the custom ROM also then it's possibly hardware.

Mine can actually boot to the system but it always crashes after some time of use.

That's EXACTLY what i was thinking although i did not know that was the name of the part. I was just thinking the memory module was maybe defective already. Dang it so the logic board should be replaced right? Because as far as I know the memory is soldered to the board and hard to remove by itself let alone replacing it.
I've already tried the wiping of data/cache and flashed the newest firmware using Odin but the problem still persists.
Also tried the custom ROM and I've tried a lot of them non actually boots to the system. Only flashing the official firmware allows me to boot to the system.
Thank you for the reply I will now just give up on this and just buy a OnePlus 3T.

If it's the emmc then only way to fix is to replace the full motherboard, which isn't cheap.
It's a known problem on note 4. Emmc chip fails and eventually completely packs in.
Which custom Roms did you try? Carhd rom is a good one to try very reliable. Also when flashing a custom ROM it can take 20-30 minutes to boot into the system.

True they are very expensive that's why I'd rather just buy a new phone. I just didn't want to give up such good hardware until I've tried everything.
Oh really? I wonder why that's the case
I actually forgot which ones already but I'm sure I tried Carhd and it didn't boot for more than an hour. But I'll go and check again just to be thorough.

Yeah it's a shame really. I could be wrong that might not occur on yours. Normally when you get emmc failure, the phone will reboot to download mode and give you an error along the lines of emmc Write fail. And then keep repeating this.
3T is a good choice to go for if that's what you decide

It's alright I feel like whatever the hardware issue is it'll require the motherboard to be swapped out anyways. I can finally let the phone rest in peace haha thank you very much.
Yeah it's perfect for an android enthusiast. Already ordered one. Good bye and thanks again!

Wouldn't say it was motherboard yet. After you flash your rom you need to boot to recovery and wipe data/cache. This will fix the apps crashing
done,cant boot the system.
gave a visit to a few services, they sad around 50e would be reparation, but im student and now dont have cash for that ****..you have any other suggestions? i tried custom roms,at first magisk would always faild, last time it was ok but still couldnt boot

Do not pay for it. Chances are if you can't fix it they can't either.
So have you tried flashing stock firmware?
What Android version do you have and what region? What's full model number g925?
Reduce the cpu frequencies to 1200-800mhz for big and little and userspace governor. This the only fix.
ok,so one more thing,on the glass back of the phone sits one imei that is not correct, and on the battery is another, which reports 64g version, while next to that number is printed 32gb and phone actually has 32gb lool
it is supposed to be g925f,but after i installed some custom rom,pc showed it as g925s? i think it is due to rom signing the wrong model number
the last thing i have done was yesterday, and it was flashing firmware through kies again.
and this is what i get :
s6 edge powered by android, followed by blue screen 'installing system update',and then recovery
in the recovery,i get this :
android recovery
samsung/zeroltexx/zerolte
7.0/NRD90M/G925FXXU5EQBG
user/release-keys
*recovery options*
No suppoer SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-verity error...
i realy dont know what else to try,and i am open to all suggestions..i have read that emmc storage is broken so this kind of problems can occur,so maybe service would do that?
thank you,i know this is confusing and boring problem
i tried with odin once more, and it failed at 25% instaing system update, then i restarted it and it got up to 32% and started erasing and it turned off..tf with this phone?? i guess its broken...

Download and flash that firmwsre through odin before you try anything else. Let me know what happens.
I can tell you it's likely not emmc failure. For this you would get random reboots and it would reboot to download mode. There you would have an error emmc_write_error.
wowo thanks,i just gave up on that phone,i will try again,i will report back!
just one question,why vodafone?
oh,and i did have random reboots on android m,but it would reboot to optimizing android and boot
