Anybody running Honeycomb see this in their market??
I hope we'll be able to run these Adobe apps from the Flyer when it gets HC, but I'm not confident. Adobe lists the requirements as a minimum of 8.9" screen and a min. resolution of 1280x800. I've got my fingers crossed they might still work, but I don't know.
I run HC and I can't see them in market, Lot's of apps are tied to a screen size and or resolution.

You mean they are tied so that if you don't meet the requirements, you can't see them?
Thanks!
yes, android market checks screen resolution among other signatures and shows you only applications that are compatible with your device.
I suppose if one could get the apk they could see if any of the apps run on the lower resolution. Is that right?
I'm a new convert if you can't tell. I've just ditched my iPad for a Flyer!
if you get the apk you can try it , it either works or doesn't . Won;t hurt anything
Being an admitted noob I'm not up for this yet. If someone else tries to do it I hope they'll post the results.

Someone over at Engadget said they have it running on the 7" Galaxy tab, so it should work with ours. They said it works with 7" screens, but the recommended size is 8.
Thanks.
Also confirmed the drawing app Ideas does not support pressure sensitivity. That's too bad because I've used the app on an iPad and I liked its lot. I've submitted a recommendation that they add support. If you go to the support site you can vote on the recommendation.
Edit: I would post link, but I'm to new.
Cheers!
side loaded it and i am confirming that photoshop touch does indeed work for the flyer.
It will only work on HC correct? Or will it work on stock GB?
it only works in hc
Thanks for the update. I've been on the fence about putting HC on my flyer, but maybe I'll take the plunge. Who knows when HTC will release it.
I'm waiting until the year is out. If HTC still hasn't released HC by then, I'm going to install the leaks.
Not sure why you are waiting. I don't think HTC will be adding anything new beyond what the latest leak is.

I think your probably right. The new leak works pretty smoothly, its playing flash videos really well and there is a defineite improvement in the over all smoothnes.
Please...to be clear...the app does or does not include pressure sensitivity when run on HC Flyer? Thanks in advance.

Some of the Adobe apps include pressure sensitvity(supposedly). Adobe Ideas is confirmed to not have ps right now. If enough of us ask for it on their support forum there is a chance they will include it in a future release.

Could you explain how to "sideload" an app? (or post a link to the relevant article). I'm not sure I understand how this is possible. Especially since the Flyer doesn't meet the screen resolution/size requirements of the adobe touch apps.

No, because that would be warez (& against the forum rules)
Notch has said that it will be released on other Android devices soon.
They have stated that the Xperia exclusivity is temporary, so they had to develop it with other devices in mind. I wouldn't be surprised if it already worked, although there may be some simple device security checks that need to be stripped out.

That's what I was figuring, not a whole edit of the package which may lead into piracy territory
I think one of the reasons they released it exlusively to the xperia play is that it has a game pad. They will have to add a virtual game pad for it to be usable on any other phone and I think they are still probably working on it, unless anyone can confirm they already have a working virtual game pad...
Hey guys, I have it running on my Captivate. works just fine. Except... I can't control it =P
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1221140
made a thread about it with a link to the demo version apk. figured out that you can use a ps3 controller with Bluetooth to control part of the game.
Sent from my MIUI SCH-i500
i found a copy of the demo thats been fixed so it installs, not telling where but it's not hard to find.
i've tried it on my cappy and my nook color, it'll start on both, but screen isn't centered and touchscreen menus are off on the NC. the game only runs for about 30-60 seconds before locking up.
the ps3 controller with the sixaxis bluetooth drivers works but needs to be remapped. right stick doesn't work for looking around.
Is it not possible to mimick the xperia buttons? Such as wasd being dpad and aim trackball?
found the xperia key mappings from the official Sony blog but they still don't work right when remapped.

Hi all,
I'm very interested in getting Minecraft Pocket Edition working on other devices.
I think I'm getting close to figuring out how the Xperia Play sends the events to the apps.
However, in order to make my life easier and not search mindlessly through the kernel, it would be extremely helpful if someone who had a rooted Xperia Play would run the command 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices' and post the result here. ('su' before that, of course)
All 'cat' does it read text from the file '/proc/bus/input/devices'. (it won't email me your texts )
In case no one with a rooted Xperia Play sees this, I'll keep wading through the kernel to see if I can find it on my own.
Thanks,
John
Cant wait to have it to work! I purchase a pc licence Hope it will work on pocket edition...
I have a Samsung Fascinate so no sixaxis (wont work) many game have virtual keyboard hopefully it will be quick...
flamesbladeflcl, witch version are you using?
Thank's have a good day
Its best to leave it up to the crackers which is beyond the scope of xda.
The main issue is the controls.
Also there are clones of minecraft out there for all devices.
I have poked around a bit and found a way to enable looking-around in the MCP using touchscreen. It is a quick hack, so you loose the ability to use the touchscreen while navigating the menus.
All I did is replace all the touchscreen events with the touchpad ones. So the game thinks that your touchscreen is a big touchpad.

So being that I am soon to be a first time tablet owner, what features does ICS have over gingerbread? Is it that we won't be able to run future apps? Or is it just a new OS with new features such as cut/paste and contacts, etc?
I do realize the bootloader is locked, therefore we cannot get ICS unless it is unlocked, but it would be nice to know what we may be missing out on if the bootloader didn't get unlocked.
I just want to make sure the nook tablet won't be a paperweight in 6 months as far as no new apps being available.
Thanks.

I did google it prior to your not so helpful link, and I found features of ICS. However, the real question I was trying to get answered is will apps going forward still be compatible with the older gingerbread (2.3) OS?
From the searching I did on my own, different sites say different things. The people using this forum are more knowledgable than I about android, so I was hoping for a quick answer.
I probably could have explained that better in my OP.
Thanks.

Considering the level of fragmentation of Android, it would be a very silly move if Google was to remove legacy support. So in short, yes, they will work.
ICS devices haven't even been made available yet, and even once they do, only a small percentage of the total number of Android users will get them. Most people are locked into a contract for some period of time, so it'll probably be at least a year before ICS becomes really common. Look at Gingerbread, it was released almost a year ago and a fair number of phones still don't have it, but there's no reason most apps won't work. Honeycomb was different, but that's a special case.
Errr...yes they are? They're not available in the US from carrier's, but they've already launched in the UK, and if you're willing to pay, you can get the GSM version (compatible with ATT and Tmobile, voice and 3G/HSPA+) for...just shy of $800.
Okay, limited availability then, either way it doesn't change my point that ICS will not be the most common Android version for quite a while yet. I bet lower end phones ship with Gingerbread or even Froyo for another year.

Tablet apps will likely not be compatible with gingerbread (eg current tablet apps are only compatible with honeycomb and newer versions of android).
If you plan on using your device as a tablet, you should NOT get the Nook Tablet.
If you are fine with an ereader (that can do some extra stuff), the tablet is ok.

Buy it. Try it out. If you like it, keep it. If not return it before 14 days. I heard best buy is waiving restocking fees for holiday shopping.
Seeing as the Touchpad (known as "TP" from this point on) section is my hangout most of the day (I have a desk job...they don't expect me to actually work do they? pfft...) I have noticed a lot of confusion for people just coming over to the TP with Android and I know myself and many others get frustrated answering the same questions over and over again in the same threads, so I thought I'd try to put something together for what I think are the most common questions. Please add to the thread and I will update the OP. I'm hoping maybe this could be something we all could link to newbies so they can better help themselves familiarize themselves.
Please keep in mind that the TP is not a native Android device, meaning it was not designed to operate with Android on it. Being that this is the case, some things just aren't going to work until extensive work is done. We don't have drivers for some things etc. Patience is a virtue, yadda yadda and all that jazz.
If you do not have Android on your TP, here's how to get CM7 on your TP.
Lets do this.
I just installed Android and as soon as it starts up, it reboots! HALP!
It's sokay! Let it reboot a few times by itself. In my experience, it would reboot four times and then be fine. Why's it do it? I dunno...it just does.

Does the Touchpad have GPS?
Short answer: NO. Long answer: Maybe? Some people claim that the Snapdragon APQ8060 CPU that is in the TP has the capability, and it certainly is a possibility as this the same CPU that is in a bunch of high end phones (T-Mobile Galaxy S II, Galaxy S II Skyrocket, HTC Vivid, Galaxy S II LTE, LG Nitro HD, etc). Maybe some day a developer will unlock it if it is a possibility. Currently though, there is no GPS on the TP.

Oh yes yes. One thing that works fine is the market. No issues there.
Bravo!!
Great idea and good first start!!! Everyone (not only us noobs) will truly appreciate this. Searching for a nugget in 500+ pages becomes a near impossible task. My only fear is that your FAQ could become almost as unwieldy as the Xron thread. A simple spreadsheet as an attachment in your OP might be helpful. A straight forward listing of known problems with a link to the best answer(s) could probably take care of the vast majority of queries. Expanded narrative for the really complex problems, e.g., wifi issues, could possibly be included in a second spreadsheet or linked back to the appropriate thread for comment. Let me know if I can help.

Any news on the co-star? A lot of them have been shipped.
Btw, can anyone give me the specs of the power supply? I'm interested mostly in the Voltage input range. Since I'm going to use it in EU I'd like to know if I need another power supply or I can hook it up to a wallplug adapter. Would be great if the input range is 110-240V.
The power supply takes 100-240v ~50-60Hz, max 0.6A
Super duper standard.
That's good news.
I hope that rooting and custom firmware development will start soon for the box.

I pulled the ge.tt file from my co-star using adb, it was in /data/app I don't know too much as to why the force closes would happen. I have had that happen for a lot of side loaded apps I thought should work also. Did you try rebooting it?
There might be some other files required for it to run, I'm not sure how to find out what they are though.

I pulled the ge.tt file from my co-star using adb, it was in /data/app I don't know too much as to why the force closes would happen. I have had that happen for a lot of side loaded apps I thought should work also. Did you try rebooting it?

I'm going to try it again tonight when I get home through a hard boot and see if it works. Word from OnLive is they plan to release the client this winter for all platforms, but I'm impatient =)
Thanks!
Has there been an official forum made for this project yet?
I'd like to track it and this thread seems like it died off.
Any thing?

Has anyone seen any update on this anywhere? I've had the Co-star since launch and have been wanting to root it since release. Honestly I just wish I could put ICS or JB on it and run 'normal' Android apps on it, the app selection is so much better there.

I to would love to see this. I would be willing to make a generous donation for this. I wouls like to be able to download my games and use the Onlive universial wireless controller.
Damn I didn't think the Co-Star would be tougher to crack then all the android phones out there.

The thing that makes me sad is the Co-Star has a bonafide hack out there that's been demoned a few places. It's been out since release, but I have yet to see any updates on how to actually DO IT =(.
I wish someone would document how to hack it so at least others can take up the task of re-roming it if those who hacked it aren't willing.

I am looking for suggestions.
What could I use my Lapdock for, now that I made the switch to CyanogenMod?
Is there a good solution for making the VNC'ed ARM Ubuntu (look for Ubuntu Installer in the Play Store) work better with the touchpad? Should I sell it? Is there a solution to make remote control apps such as TeamViewer or Splashtop integrate with the Lapdock's keyboard and touchpad? Is there any way to make the device switch to Tablet mode without rebooting? That would be rather interesting to see. By the way, the CM9 ROM I am currently running has got Landscape HDMI working flawlessly, so that should not be an issue...
PS: Please do not ignore this thread. Any suggestions are welcome! (Use your common sense though)

I've struggled with the same question on my photon.. If there's working hdmi rotation on your CM, you can still use it for typing out documents, etc. I also used the mirror mode to watch movies on a larger(than phone) screen in bed.
But eventually I just decided to go back to a blur rom and use ubuntop (which is awesome) while waiting for official ICS and someone hopefully porting ubuntu 12.04 to webtop..
Paranoid Android Rom
I don't understand why canonical hasn't leaked that awesome ubuntudroid system they showed off.. there isn't an easier way to get feedback especially since webtop has died and windows 8 is pushing hard into that whole 'blur the lines' market

Maybe they are waiting for the unified linux/android kernel 3.4 this would most certainly make it easier to port and updates trivial.

Currently, I use it for watching movies as well, and I am looking forward to pairing a Wii Remote and/or a DualShock® 3 to my Atrix™, so that I can play some games such as GTA III and Shadowgun (Max Payne *-*) on the big screen.
I was happy with Blur until the day I ran into that tempting CM9 thread. I did not know what smoothness and responsiveness really were. Blur was the smoothest I thought it could ever get... But I was wrong, and now I have to choose between fluidity and Webtop.
I actually went back to Blur some months ago, but unfortunately, prolonged use of ICS can cause dependence. Believe it or not, I was pretty happy with Blur. Webtop was working flawlessly, I even had BackTrack installed, but then came the relapse: I could no longer resist to ICS. I am now back to CM9, and with it comes my dilemma...
I am looking for a way to use the Atrix™ as a more desktop-ish platform when docked (especially to the Lapdock). I believe the ideal would be Ubuntu through a local VNC client, or a remote desktop app, I just wish they would play nicer with the keyboard and touchpad...
Basically, something like a key mapper (easy-to-use, I am still unable to figure out WiiMoteController's key mapping scheme) for Lapdock's hardware. We could make a keyboard-powered Ouya!
What still concerns me though, is that games would not be optimized for it e.g. Minecraft PE, games where the camera angle for example, is controlled by dragging the screen, so it would have to be a really powerful, but easy-to-use key mapper, and since you can't have everything in life, I'm afraid I'm asking for much...

What I understand from your reply is that the Paranoid Android ROM could put my Lapdock back to use. But what is the Paranoid Android ROM? What makes it different from other ROMs? How could it (at least partially) solve my problem?
Please be more specific.

When the official Ubuntu for Android was announced, even though an Atrix 2 was used for the hands-on part, on the project's official hotsite... It was clearly an Atrix™ 4G standing there on the dock. The differences between our device's design and the Atrix 2's or the Defy's (Defy+'s) are not that obvious, but they are, indeed, noticeable.
You do know what that means, don't you? It means it is almost certain that our device will be on the first batch of officially supported devices!
I don't if the Atrix™ is still there, but if it's not, I can try to find the screenshot I took if you'd like.
I am so proud!

What do you mean? It would have to be ported to each supported device anyway, wouldn't it?

I have never thought I'd say this but, "Please don't get off-topic". I'd appreciate it if this gets settled in a new thread or via PM.
Anyway, you said "stock UbunTop", I could be wrong, but I think it's either stock or UbunTop, which is a mod born right here on our neighbor forum, Android Development.
If yours is really stock, I suggest you get BackTrack from the BackTop project, I don't it's got aircrack built-in, and I was unable to install it, so unless you're an experienced hacker, don't get too excited with BackTrack's features, but my point is: It is amazingly faster than Webtop, it seems lighter, I used to be able to run more than 3 different apps simultaneously...
If yours is really running UbunTop I'm afraid I cannot assist you, since webtop2sd never worked for me and BackTop and WebtopMOD were the only I could ever manage to get working on my device...

I can answer this. What he meant is that you should use Paranoid. Paranoid is a rom thats an hybrid of a phone an a tablet, in short words, you can activate tablet mode for some apps, while some other apps still run in phone-mode, for the ease of use.
What I actually meant was to give a name and a designation, which I did.
Google paranoid android rom and you get the website, the website has a much better explanation then I could or should have to provide.
But yes in short it can give you a tablet UI on lapdock.

I did before you guys answered and after I posted my reply, and was about to post an apology to you, my friend (Random Canadian).
Sometimes my brain takes just way too long to figure some things out...
I am sorry.
Anyway, thank you very much! This might just solve it all!
