And finally it happened, I accidently dropped my o1 on the carpet floor, and now I have these bands of lines about 20px wide one at edge and the other in the middle. The colors seem a bit lighter in those areas. Nothing unbearable but hell I thought the O1 was pretty durable. Guess I have to live with it now..

dropped like 3 times on asphalt, nothing happened except scratches
Dropped and accidentally kicked it while running! Back key didn't work for two days.
dropped mine about 10 times until now only on asphalt and 'them bathroom floor-like tiles'...only scratches and battery keeps popping out every time. but no problems until now(although the power key works kinda funny)
Have dropped it once, it was on the table with bag, damn bag's strap taked phone with it ... but nothing happened, not even a scratch. Mine looks like new, I just are good owner.
I think I literally throw mine around. To soft places though. I drooped it face down on concrete it was fine, dropped it on carpet and the battery dropped out but it was fine.

The first time I dropped mine i was so sketched. Literally threw it at concrete. But it was fine.
Then, I dropped it getting out of my truck and now I have a little touchscreen deadzone at the bottom right of my screen so no touch works there. But, it's really spotty so it still works but swype is a pain in the ass.
But whatever, besides that it's quite a beast
I dropped mine many times, but I had a case on for all the drops so no problems.

I end up dropping mine fairly frequently, probably up to eight now. I have a minor divot in the glass (higher than the screen) and some scratches on the corners, but it works fine.
O1 is the best!

So i dropped my prime from 5 feet (My hand) to the ground and it landed face down. I was pretty shocked that it survived without a scratch
I think it fixed some of the light bleed too...
5 ft from your hand to the ground? Dayum you are one tall person! I dont think I will try that fix for light bleed.

Im a giant compared to everyone else around here.
Unless you are using your nose to point and swipe on the glass, 5ft? even at you being 6'1"
i was getting lunch and trying to switch hands.
I think i would have rather dropped my lunch though.
Apparently that drop didn't hurt as much as the last update lawl

I've done that SO many times. Fumbled with two things, one of them an expensive gadget and the other something easily replaced, and I'll be damned if every time I don't manage to drop the gadget.

Can we document the Light Bleed fix?
Seriously this reminds me of the old (really dating myself here) MFM and RLL Hard Drives. About the size of a Belgium Block Brick, and nearly as heavy. We would get ones in that the platters waarped and were unreadable. The fix? Drop them straight down, onto a carpeted cement floor. It would make a huge "WONK" sound, and at least half the time, the platters would now be aligned enough to back the sucker up. All 5 or 10 MEGABYTE of it. Imagine, you could fit an ENTIRE MP3 song on those suckers (if the Bitrate was kept low.)
Thanks for the fond memories. And super good luck the Prime survived it. There was a guy who posted in the first week these were shipping at the end of December who said his Prime fell off a stack of towels 2 feet onto a carpeted floor, and his screen went dark. It was running, just no display. That should help indicate further how lucky this. Turned out for you.
Not one scratch on the Gorrila Glass? Have you inspected it closely? That part is truly amazing.

But no, not a single scratch.
Reminds me of how the old commodores (I think?) Came with instructions to drop it to get the RAM chip back into place because it would pop loose during shipping.

This thing doesn't look like it could stand it. But not many tablets do.
Well,it's a random thread as the title says, all you have to do is comment IF you accidentally slipped your s2 and made it fall on the ground.
You can mention:
•How did it feel?
•What damages did it cause.
•How many time had it fallen?
•or anything else you want.
I'll start the thread,Mine has fallen 4 times since i bought it back in december 2011. It fell 3 times in one day and once just a while ago (making the idea pop in my mind about making this thread )
Thank God it has not been injured yet and i hope it stays that way
So share your experiences and press the thanks button if you enjoy the thread! cheer!

•How many time had it fallen?
Since I bought it? like 6 or 7 times.. when I'm too tired I just throw it at my bed expecting it not to fall but it always does because it bounces alot XD
•or anything else you want.
It fell off once while I was running on the treadmill, THAT hurtd.
4 times
Once on a stony road, the back was popped out, I was freaked out but it was okay
The rest 3 times were on my house's floor, all about 1 meter, all is ok, i dont think iphone could siffer that.much, im satisfied

Have had the phone for 3 months, only one drop so far :|. Fell from waist height to a solid rock floor, exactly on the top left corner. No damage to the phone, just a slight bump to the case. Coincidentally exactly the same day I bought the case.
Biggest sigh of relief when I picked it up and saw it was fine.
I dropped mine from a 5th floor balcony. Works fine.

where should I go any reliable place?
dropped it like 10 times.
concrete once, few times on a wooden floor. nothing really happened.
well, but im experiencing ghost touches from time to time, and im not sure if its because of the falls or is it caused by my sweat (i work out a lot)... idk
oh and i don't use any kind of protection (for my phone that is lol) like screen protectors or silicon protectors.
Well guys I already did it. I'm really good about taking care of my phones. Screen protector and case. Just got my Titan II yesterday and dropped it on the bathroom tile floor. I made the mistake of trying to save it but in the long run pushed it harder on the tile. It landed on the back side at least. I did have the case mate on it from att and a screen protector. Seems to be running fine no scratches or anything. Should I be worried?
Sent from my PI86100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Did the screen break? If not, the only thing I'd be concerned about is the camera lens being broken. It's built pretty solid like the Inspire 4G so unless the screen is broken, no worries mate.
I feel ya though! I've dropped only 1 phone only 1 time and it was shattered (HD7)! Scary feeling
Thanks for the reply. No shattering here. Just pissed I guess. Thanks .. Putting my mind at ease.
Sent from my PI86100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Keep a close eye on it though, I dropped my Titan onto carpet from around 3 feet whilst in its soft leather case, No damage whatsoever, Two days later it decided to get extremely hot at the rear casing, The screen would not light up and the battery ran flat in minutes, Maybe just a freak occurance but it needed to go back to HTC and they sent me a new handset, I wasn't impressed.
Sometimes i wounder it things falling are better off alone as they fall since most of the time the attempt to catch it ends up with it being slapped across the room (down), but aslong as the the camera/flash work with no visible damage then you got lucky this time.
One more thing you *might* want to check is your call quality. Since you've mentioned it fell on it's back, your antenna contacts might have pressed a little too hard on the case. See if incoming calls and outgoing calls have good enough call quality as it was before the drop. My first titan got screwed with the mic after a drop on the pavement, luckily got a replacement at the store.
hey, don't worry mate - as it is a windows phone it's made to handle tiles

Genius!!! Pure Genius man!!
But to op, I wouldn't worry to much because I have dropped my titan multiple times on my tile with nothing but a screen protector and everything is all fine and dandy. If there is one special thing HTC has got going for them I'd say its premium build quality compared to other phone makers.
I currenty have an iPhone 4. Had it for about 2 Years and have dropped it 2-3 times but only from like 1.5 Meters.
I always keep my iphone on me incase I want to quickly search something or remotely get into a server. So when I got bed I also listen to music on it and then fall asleep. Every morning I pretty much end up sleeping ontop of my iPhone 4 as it sinks down under me lol.
Im going to get a Galaxy S3 soon. I was wondering if sleeping ontop of the Galaxy S3 would be an issue. I think the Galaxy S3 screen should be strong enough for me to sleep on. Since the phone pushes down into soft material anyway.
Are there any flaws in the Galaxy S3 is that I should know about.
I heard of a charging issue (Where the i9300 wouldn't charge) and it requires reboot. But I think someone stated that a software update fixed the issue.
Please let me know of any resolved flaws and current flaws to take note of with the Galaxy S3.
Also I'm going to buy a metal Aluminium bumper that goes around the Galaxy S3. Which will take the impact whem the phone is dropped.
Lol, you sleep on smartphones,
Hahahaha sorry cant stop laughing
But thats a bad idea
I suppose the bigger the screen the easier is to break it, the iphone only has a small screen, also the S3 screen is 20% thinner than the S2 , though they say it`s just as strong.
Get yourself a case and a screen protector, it only takes a second to ruin you new phone
John.
Why dont u get an mp3 player to sleep on !
IF YOU LIKE MY WORK, THANK ME BY THE BUTTON BELOW
You see, you can sleep on an iphone4 because it's a mere toy. The Galaxy S3, however, is not a toy and therefore must be treated with the utmost care.
Sleeping on your phone? Couldn't you put it further? Anyway, buy insurance would be best solution for you.

My S3 hasn't yet been dropped but I will say it's an Outstanding phone and on top of that in my opinion it feels stronger and sturdier than an iPhone, I have seen a friends S3 being dropped from 2 meters and they're wasn't a scratch, I personally think where the phone is so Light that drop damage is less likely to occur
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I've dropped mine twice. About 4ft to pavement both times. A couple marks around the outer bezel. The first time it hit right beside the screen, landed on an angle then the screen went down flat and it bounced off the pavement and up then back down into the screen again. Absolutely 0 damage to the screen, yet. Waiting on my Otterbox...
I can take a picture with my SLR when I get home if you want.
I was hammered one night and woke up with my S3 under my back. So I did actually sleep on mine inadvertently. It is fine.
Who knows though. There are so many variables with dropping or sleeping on your phone that anything could happen.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
got screen crack after two days. direct glass damage is the evil
I'll just have to place it under my bed.
They should really test these phones in these situations. I don't drop my phones I only sleep ontop of them.
Now I just remembered I got someone's broken galaxy s2. The whole LCD display is stuffed but the glass is intact so I'll test that.
Offically the Galaxy S3 is tough enough for me to sleep on.
(Note. My bed is soft and not a hard surface which gives the phone sinking room)
Still I wouldn't recommend sleeping on your S3
Mine slide out off my pocket last night dropping maybe a couple inches and I have a hair line crack a cross the screen only second day of having it
thank god for porn , it makes me keep my phone very close to me
mine broke from 2 ft drop
I dropped mine very lightly from table to tile floor and it cracked and screen doesn't turn on anymore. I even had it in an Incepio case.
Haven't dropped it yet but have stood on it twice after falling asleep on the couch and forgetting it was on the floor when I got up, and it survived that no problem so all the more reason to keep case and screen protector on.
Had the phone 2 1/2 days. I'm sitting down in basketball shorts, phone is smooth so it slides out of my pocket easily. Lands on screen 18 inches below. Screen now has hairline crack across it.
Drop from night stand on hardwood floor nothing, fell from about 3 feet on the cement nothing but I did have the flip case

Well, after a week of owning a new G3 I managed to drop it in the toilet. I pulled it from the water after about 3 seconds of being submerged, stripped the back cover off and pulled the battery. I then disassembled the entire device so I could get it dry. After disassembly I put every piece in front of a small fan for 24 hours. I inspected everything before I began reassembling my phone and to my surprise my device booted normally. I have been using my G3 quite heavily for the last 2 days since the toilet incident and have found nothing wrong or out of the ordinary while in use. LG, I must say, has built quite a robust device. My only question to other G3 users that have dropped theirs in water, did your G3 start acting up later on in life?
Considering the G3 is not water proof, I'd say you got lucky. Would be interesting to hear if others experienced the same as you though.
I felt pretty darn lucky after I assembled the phone and it booted right up. I haven't experienced any hiccups after 3 days of heavy use now.

This is a big fear of mine - we all bring our phones with us when we sit upon the porcelain throne, and every time I'm maniacally careful to put it way far away of the bowl. Glad yours survived its plunge!

I actually use it in the shower from time to time for music and it gets sprayed on but I do use a case but it doesn't cover the ports and I don't have any problems with mine so I think it's secretly water resistant but LG just didn't want to advertise that for some reason

That's taking a risk. I have a blue-tooth speaker for the shower and that's what I use. Not taking the chance on getting the wrong drop of water that gets in and destroys the phone.
