I think this is a common issue for Amaze camera port on CDMA. Hows sweepspot working out? That also crashes the camera app in the Amaze camera port thread.
Its it possible for this to work on miui or cm7, just wondering (don't flame please lol)

A lot of camera functions still don't work or crash the screen

I tried this on Eternity 3.5 and it get's stuck at the HTC screen and needs a battery pull.
I flashed through recovery and wiped cache and dalvic, re-booted and camera wasn't even in my app drawer. I went into Root Explorer and into system/app and found camera in there, permission's were set right so I clicked on the app and installed and now have camera. I am jot sure though if that's what I was supposed to do or if something went wrong somewhere.
Two issues I found:
1. Can not select burst mode. It always jump to action mode instead.
2. While select sweep mode, i can take first picture but then it hang when second picture taken. I had to manually end camera before I can use Canberra again.

this is for roms that DONT have 3d working.
this is not a cam fix its a 3d fix for roms with out 3d.
if you already had 3d working on the rom then the amaze cam would have no issues.

Thank you for the clarification. The ROM I am running already had working 3D, and I just flashed the Amaze camera over it. 1080p 3D looks great. I haven't verified the resolutions and bitrates are legit though.

No that's fine..I have read that some of the new roms are incorporating native screen shot support to help with this problem..I'm not.sure but it could be that the app you are using (shootme?) May not support the.e3d yet..since we just got root hopefully this will be resolved shortly

It looks like if i shake it harder the worst the picture is!
i was using screenshoot it? now im using drocap2 and it works if i put it as timer instead of shake.
I might install a rom then. I want all stock looking with out the sprint apps, do you know what rom would be better. also i have no idea how to install a new rom lol.
Use a static wallpaper and not a live wallpaper and see if you have better results.

shoot me doesn't work right...use dropcap2..it's free in the market and it works great. you can even set its capture mode to trigger by notification
only one that works correctly is Drocap2 and Screenshot It. everything else is not supported just yet.
But this will no long be a problem cause roms from now on will most likely have built in screenshot program

I use MyPhoneExplorer and it works fine on my Rooted Evo 3D shooter. But when i just tired to add my screen shots was told they are 523 x 830 and the dimensions suppose to be 640x640.
I spent some time thismorning doing some smali edits on the new leak (thanks to team exposed for the guides only took some small improvising)
Features:
Disable MMS compression
Change MMS size to 1, 2 and 5mb (5mb by default)
Add panoramic camera
Add HDR to camera
Enable option for disabling camera sounds (focus and shutter))
Enable ISO1250
Modded phone.apk to fix phantom voicemail
And I think that's it lol just flash in recovery like normal.
Notes: The mod to change the MMS size options and default option will only work after a wipe and a fresh flash of a Rom and flashing it before you boot up because its an edit in the default.xml

Follow the Team Xposed guide. ICS didn't alter the camera.apk too much.

Ok, I flashed this and nothing changed. I extracted it and pushed to correct folders and set correct permissions and still nothing changed....
i think i put the wrong camera.apk in the zip sorry im fixing it now

It wasn't just camera. In mms settings it only goes to 2mb max...
Edit: oops just saw mms options only show up after full wipe! nvm so just camera wrong haha and i never had voicemail problem so idk if that's fixed for other people or not. Anddddddd i'm out of thanks for the day ):

I never tested it haha but i'm on clean rom and i've read of it being hit or miss for a lot of people now. also I'm running chads kernel which breaks 3d for now....

I am running Newts one s Rom and instagram always freezes up when I try to post a picture. It results in a reboot after about 5-10 seconds. Something about egl's too high idk... Does anyone else have this problem? And/or can you help fix it?
Same issue with Booster Shot R2 rom. I assumed it had something to do with Sense 3.6... but i guess not. I can comment and review others pictures just fine but result in same issue when attempting to edit and upload.
Okay I just tried to decompile the apk and change it somehow but I can't even decompile it.. I'll give someone a cookie if they fix this.

it has to do with the camera drivers.. i'm running joelz sense 4 ics rom for the evo 3d and instagram works just fine, only with a slight lag in editing the pic before uploading.. but on newt's rom, instagram messes up.. doesn't connect to camera.. i can't confirm on most other ics roms but i believe it's just a matter of drivers..

I had this problem..mainly on the roms that didnt have the camera working. Im currently running this sense 4.0 ICS rom based on the Evo LTE it has the camera working. Instragram is working when I load picks. Sometimes the only thing you have to do is log out of instagram then log back in. But not all roms (mostly the first few roms) will allow you to load picks but I was always able to login though.You could reboot the phone and/or wipe cache/dalvik cache. Hope it works for you.
Newest Instagram update fixed my freezing problem.
FYI....
I just updated Instagram and tried to upload pics. It's still freezing when I try to upload/edit pics from Gallery. Maybe the fix helped people using other Roms. I'm currently on Newts.
I use Boot Manager to work around the problem. When I want to use Instagram or take 3d pics, I just boot into another Rom using Boot Manager. Some Roms don't work well with it, but it's cool to have if you like flashing a lot or for issues like this.

Not if you're referring to the gb rom as your phone rom. All you need do is revert back to it. And that problem with instagram must be an issue with newt and boot manager combo because all is well here on mean rom ics

Well your on sense 3.6 and newts Rom is sense 4.0. I think if I really want to post a picture to instagram I'll just flash a gb kernel through fastboot and use a nandroid. Then I'll revert back to newts Rom doing the same thing.
Sense 3.6 ruins the ICS experience, but is stable.

It's a sense 4.0 camera driver issue. According to HTC, sense 4.0 requires dedicated hardware.. which the EVO 3D doesn't have.. so instagram is gonna have its own issues with pics on sense 4.. even on Joelz sense 4 Rom and newts Rom, same issues..

In Instagram's camera settings uncheck "Use Instagram's Advanced Camera"
and when you'll want to take a photo pick camera as source. That worked for me.

I tried that before and still no go. It sounds like Newt is going to post an update on his Rom in the near future, so hopefully the issue is fixed then.
I'll report back if instagram works after the update or not.

Did you end up fixing the problem? I'm having the same issue. I disabled the camera but whenever I try and upload just a normal photo the effects still pop up and then a force close kills the app....any help??

Right now I downloaded that files. Start to look at everything. The only probelem is how to open xml files. All I can find is excel
Have exam today and after tommorow but will try to do smth. Will write progress if smth will move forward.
Edit: Found easy way to open xml. Notepad++.
Regular notepad works too. If you don't want to install more software.

I would recommend a smarter editor like Komodo, which has autocomplete, auto indent and xml validator
Or Eclipse, you can use it for pretty much every programming language out there

I want the improved pic quality with no compression and 3d working. Who cares about digital zoom on 5mp camera. It never looks good anyway.

Because it is based on AOKP, which is Senseless, the camera not working is one of the bugs that have not been worked out. I'm sure once a dev fixes it, there will be elation on these boards.

I'm wondering, strictly wondering, if the Camera.apk and associated .odex file could be pulled from a CM9 ported ROM and put on this one. Just to see if it works.
You'd have to manually delete the old files and put the new ones on, restart to recovery, fix permissions, and then restart.

I had to do this with the Camera on an ICS ROM and it started working. Bear in mind that it was a Sense ROM, not a Senseless one.

I know the CM9 port has the 2d camera working, so your idea might work, but even if it does, the front camera and 3d stilll are a work in progress.

I do occasionally use both, but I mainly wanted the OP to know before trying to incorporate that camera only to find stuff not working.
I do look forward to the day when cm9 and other aosp roms will fully work on the 3d.

Aaron just uploaded 38a and stated that 38b will have camera working. Check his thread. Just updated. Not too much longer.
However, if you want camera working in aosp, devil toast has working camera.

That's why I don't leave sense either, but when I do use a different launcher, I use Android Pro Widgets as those are very sense like.
