i really like x10 to be my future phone...it's x10 is a good phone?? what is pro and con of this phone???
first of all, there is no future in the x10, it is a present phone
the pros of this phone is great looks, and one of the best cameras offered in an android device.
however the cons are slow as f**k if u dun do rooting+mods
bootloader locked => custom roms are difficult to made to be fully functional
official update stopped at 2.1-update 1, no froyo or beyond (unless u're planning on custom roms)
yes it is a great phone. except that sony ericsson decided to stop providing software for it. its got great hardware like the one gig snapdragon processor amd 8 mp camera. it gets even better with the higher roms u can get from this site. i love my phone. the only bad thing is the sony ericsson thing. then phone is fast good looking and great. hope this helps
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.3.2 gingerbread rom from rdannar
IF getting an up to date OS is very important to you, look elsewhere. The X10 is stuck in 2.1 unless you're willing to flash a custom rom on it and wait for the kinks to get ironed out.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I wouldn't recommend getting it now.. Unless you root you'll be stuck on 2.1 which eventually will not work with many apps and games
last but not least, battery life is too weak (I got 2 spare batteries)
(to all developers, how to modify .sin file provided in official firmware zip) I planning to edit the system.sin to replace system, I'm sure the driver files is inside the system.sin. hope this helps
battery life is fine.. ignore the above post.. poor battery is either caused by wrong expectations of a Smart phone (with a 4" screen) or by bad apps preventing the phone from sleeping..
Battery is very good, i can get to 3-4 Days with alot of use. I surf every day like 30min-1hr and write 20-30 Messages, make like 5-10 Phone Calls like 30min-1hr30 and i look often what Time it is or look fast whats up in XDA or Soccer Games how they played. My old Iphone 3g lasts 1 Day with same use.

I don't believe this at all...
it's x10 have a problem like a x2??
I don't believe it either. The battery isn't bad, but its not this good. I can go a day of normal use making a few short calls, texts incoming and outgoing all day, and watching a few YouTube videos without needing to charge it. I have days of fairly heavy use too, but still need to charge it at the end of the day. It will not last 3 or 4 days with moderate use that's for sure.

You will fall in love whit your x10 when you get an nicee custom rom jit enabled and also rooted of course normally this is a good phone like the 8mp pictures it take greaat shots i can say! Hmm one little thing a few people experienced is a low in call volume else then that 10/10 and by the way i once made 3hours of music non stop and each 5mins texts made 2-3 call and when i got home i had 46% left? You can calibrate the battery tho.
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Don't bother, it's already near it's EOL stage, meaning no more support from SE at all. If you still want to purchase a SE phone, let it be Xperia Arc. Otherwise, go for a different Android OS smartphone (if that's what you're aiming).

I get a solid day out of it, but that's all. There is NO way you could get 3-4 days, even if you just left it in standby the whole time. I call bullsh*t for sure
if leave it standby i believe 4 day is possible consider i tried a few times leave standby for about 20 hours only 10% battery gone.
but for my case very heavy use non stop gaming and surf net it's like only 4 or 5 hours the most.

never going get a SE phone no more, utterly disappointed with the support... the disappointment started with X2 and now they even stop upgrading the software for X10... SCREW U SE TEAM!!!

meaningless topic...X10's just a bull****...
I was totally disappointed...
X10 is a brilliant piece of hardware, let down by SE support tho. Am using freex10 2.2 beta 4 and its simply awsome. Turned my x10 into the phone i expected. Lol at 3-4 days on battery tho, even with autokill and light use i might get 36 hours, but thats the same with any large screen smartphone. Froyo rom does seem to ease battery consumption slightly. If buying new, get an android with gingerbread as stock rom or wait 6months for dual core processor.

Just post according to reality. No way batt up to 3-4 days. Mine only last +-1 day.
I don't know if this situation is usual with smart phone. May be... it depends to how smart the phone is. Hohoho....
X10 is good.much better than x2 for sure. However and whatever, I still love x10 and never get bore playing with it. Although there are so many rumor saying about its update. Some good news say,no more OS upgrade but still we will have Android 2.1 update fix. But don't know which is true.

Hello, I wanted to find out if it is possible to load an older version of android on my phone to see If it will run faster or drain the battery even less.
I might go on a camping trip in the mountains and I want to live simpler, so an old version might work better since I won't have a charger or a need for extra bonuses in android froyo.
Thanks.

You don't have to bring a charger if you want to live simpler don't bring your phone at all or keep it off the whole time to save battery. Or you could bring a car charger . You could also put in the development section [req] android 1.6 port?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Do not post a request for it in the development section. Not to sound mean, but no one would post a rom that almost no one would use. If you need to save battery just turn off Data Network Mode. You'll still have calls and texts, but none of the battery wasting features.
I would be interested in something similar to this but I would not want android 1.6, I would want something even simpler yet.
I wonder how hard it would be to make a rom that would just be a phone. I am imagining something like you hit the unlock button and a screen similar to the dialer app would pop up. You would have access to your contacts and be able to place and receive calls but nothing else.
I would think this would give you super battery but it would only be worth it if you could dual boot to another rom so you could still take advantage of the camera or gps if it is absolutely necessary.
Otherwise it would be a lot simpler and easier to just buy a cheap tmobile pay as you go phone.

yeah i suggest the same, because i'm sure no one is THAT helpful to make a rom for just 1 person, and maybe a few others that MIGHT use it, but will eventually go back to the newer roms...
Go to airplane mode when your not using your phone ( you don't get any phone calls anything )
or
If you do want texts and phone calls like vinny said, turn off data network.
P.S. i'm sure there are abilities in 1.6 that drain battery just as we have them too.
Yup shut off Network go into the phone and set for edge only, shut off GPS and USE a 2.2 rom with KA6 modem or KB1 the battery will last way longer than android 1.6 it is not that good better to stay with the Froyo rom OR get a carrier pigeon................

Are you serious right now....
Man, I don't even want to look at any new phones right now! Ahhhh!
Man, Moto is pissing out a new phone every two months these days. Thats messed up.
If this phone is put out to address current razr issues as stated then we all have a right to this device at no additional charge or change in our contract. Seems like motor/Verizon are admitting guilt with this.
This better be a joke. #$%#$%@#$%%&*^%%[email protected]#[email protected]$!
"battery issues" quoteth the article?! After a couple of weeks, only basic usage of smart actions (e.g. turn off radios and sync over night) and regular usage.. a few calls, data sync on during the day either via wifi at work/home or mobile data when out and about.. I'm getting over two days between charges as are others afaik (not everyone to be sure.. but the current razr is doing a damned fine job!!)
YMMV of course
The question is... did we get the RAZR to have the best and show it off to friends and to be on top of the phone game or.... did you get it cause it's a super duper cool phone that you will enjoy to use?
There will ALWAYS be a better spec'd phone out there than the one you currently have, unless you get one every three weeks or so.

True,...its just usually not by the same manufacturer.
I'm not having any battery issues. I haven't set up any smart actions yet and keep the screen at 100% and I get a full day with moderate use. My DX running CM7GB never came close to that. I had to carry extra batteriesif I was going anywhere after work. I couldn't even make it through a 10 hour workday without recharging. I'm very happy with the Razr. I just want to know what to do after 500 charges and I'm still under contract!

Re battery comments, my home and office are literally just one mile and over a hill from four bars of 4G, so I'm on strong 3G most of the time. I don't use WiFi much, dozens of emails, perhaps an hour or so of calls, numerous SMS, market updates / downloads, Angry Birds, surfing, and I can easily go from fully charged at 0600 to 30% battery at 2200.
This is perfectly acceptable for my needs, but as noted above, no 4G, and I find that WiFi draws my battery faster than idling on 3G--which seems contrary to the experience of many others. This is better than my T-Bolt, and even tho I travel a lot, I don't mind the sealed battery--I carry a couple iGo 1,540 chargers instead of a couple T-Bolt batteries when traveling.
Hopefully everyone realizes that's a Photoshop image with an article based on a story from a Verizon store employee. The same employees that normally do not know JACK SQUAT about when a phone is coming out... But either way, there's ALWAYS going to be a better phone out several months after you buy yours.
There will be newer models for sure. Why everyone is being unhappy with that ? Would you like to follow a brand like SE who still sells singlecore phones ?
Get over this bs and get used to technology if you like to follow it.

I'm using the gsm version now and the battery is as expected. I've had plenty of dual core phones this year and they all seem to have similar battery life.Compared to my last phone, a sgs2, the battery is not quite as good, but it is very close.

Instead of releasing a new phone to piss us off, they can recall all RAZRs back to replace the battery with a more capable one (as the user shouldn't be able of replacing it himself, but it's easy to replace) and sell the new RAZRs with already the new battery.
Or damn at least Moto, make the new MAXX battery to be compatible with the "old" RAZR, so that we can replace it "losing the warranty"...
I've been on the G2x since about when it came out (horrible decision...) I've made that phone mostly usable to me but because of nVidia, the devs are always going to be stuck with no drivers for Tegra.
I see I can get the Amaze for free right now at T-Mo. Is it worth it? I know it doesn't have ICS yet but I assume that's coming (there's a certain update to ICS exchange support that makes it a very important update for me so I can get my work email)
Battery life on the G2x has always been pretty miserable for me too. I got that phone way too early and there wasn't enough people using it to really research it at the time. I'm hoping to avoid that mistake with whatever my next phone is.
1- The Amaze does have ICS, in fact, you wont find a GB Rom in the front page of development
2- Amaze battery Life is amazing for me
3- gdfgsdgrgregesrgersgsg??!?!?!
4-Search before posting?
5- a squirrel??
The Amaze does have ICS with Sense 3.6
The phone might look free but they will charge you the extra $15-$20 a month on your bill for the phone.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great phone and since we got the ICS leak its been even better. But with other phones releasing around the corner it might be a wise choice to wait for different options. But I'm not saying that the new phones will be better just saying wait till you find out what you really want.

I know about the ICS leak but that's not official yet And I love rooting my phones...but I've been using my G2x for a year so I'm quite acquainted with all my options. It will always take a while to figure out what ROMs are good for me (personally) or not on any given phone. I've been bitten by too many 'promised' official releases that never happened to never assume.
I'll do a little more research on this one but maybe I'll keep waiting. If I can make it until Google releases all their phones...

To be honest, I think the Amaze is so-so. I've been fortunate enough to have tried quite a few phones and the Amaze hasn't done a great job standing out.
The biggest problem with this phone is that the battery life is beyond terrible - worse than any phone I've had in the past. I mainly use my phone (or any of my smartphones for that matter) to respond to business emails and texts. My phone doesn't even last half of the day without needing a full recharge.
I had a G2X and although I wasn't too fond of its build quality (especially how the screen is not completely flat), I would suggest that you stick with it. There aren't too many improvements (in my opinion) that justifies the jump.

First off you are incorrect, that was a classic plan price, not value. Value is only sold online currently as SIM only service, phone and EIP are not given online.
regardless, the free Amaze is over and its back to $150
So what are you looking for? I've used an S2, Sensation, HD2, Vibrant, and Amaze within the past 18 months. Here are my pros/cons of my Amaze experience.
Pros:
Stable - few reboots
Best of breed camera
Build is solid
HTC mail app is better than some Android skins
Good form factor - big enough, but not too big
Resilient screen - seems more scratch-resistant than some others
Dedicated camera/camcorder buttons
Impressive data speeds
Cons:
Original battery started to occasionally lose sync with OS (which resulted in $8 to Carrier in exchange for backup battery)
Low Development on XDA
Light bleed from softkeys
NFC doesn't seem to work as advertised
Since getting the Amaze, my priorities have shifted from constant theming and modding to other things because of the lack of development and (until recently) impossibility of S-off. Now I've come to appreciate being able to effortlessly RMA my phone if necessary, and while waiting for ICS was occasionally difficult, Tmo anounced its availability in 5 days. I expect battery life to increase, latency to decrease with dual-core utilization, hopefully usefulness added to the NFC capability. But as mentioned before, if you need Roms enjoy your phone, look elsewhere.

Lol maybe u took me the wrong way. People with great battery life use aftermarket batteries and apps like juice defender. Some of them may also exaggerate their usage. Bottom line doesn't change.
With stock OEM battery, no juice defender, AND you use your phone, you ABSOLUTELY have ****ty battery life. It's simple. Not weird.
Also, some people use more widgets than others, more sync options, notification options... This isn't rocket science
Also, tapatalk is the biggest battery hog ever.

Motorola aiming to upgrade all possible devices to Jelly Bean, promises to give you $100 credit if it can't
http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/05/motorola-jelly-bean-upgrades/
That's actually pretty interesting.
Thinking about it a bit it seems to work out in Moto's favor quite a bit. They'll update their newest phones and the people who are using their older phones will have incentive to get a newer model and thus give them more money.
HTC could do something like this.
I don't know that I'd buy another motorola, don't get me wrong, I love the phones, but the locked bootloader and slowness of updates kinda kills it for me. They're probably doing this to keep business from going elsewhere due to these problems.

Pre-emptive strikes pre iPhone & to climb back up. The RAZR Maxx needs to go multi-carrier , well really just the 3,300 mAh spec on the bar phones.
Good moves.

I second that the wifes atrix i had to reflash it 4 times in one month because the hardware sucked
Sent From my skyrocket Lesmany Nunez.
Its $100 off a new handset.
Not exactly the same. If they failed to upgrade I wouldnt want to buy another phone they'll fail with
thats not exactly hard to do since they have the line in there all "new and currently selling devices..."....doesn't cover stuff sold 1yr ago...so in that case HTC could easily cover this as the ONE series as a whole should be able to get it....ie they could say it and NOT upgrade the EVO3D and not have to pay 100bux as the evo3d isn't being sold anymore brand new since its EOL at sprint...
I'd take a HTC running ICS over moto running JB any day of the week!
Can't stand the subpar display moto uses.
Slightly off topic but HTC should have hired Steve Kondik
Got stuck with a permalock bootloader on the photon and complained until I got an early upgrade to this phone. Plus they promised ics for the phone right outta the gate and peeps will be lucky to get it before 2013. I will not buy moto again, no way no how.

That's funny. I just today found out he works for Samsung. I'm SURE some of his ideas make it into their SW.

I'm sure they just handed the source over and said fix it lmao

HTC should do the same AS WELL AS make it mandatory that all their phones have removable batteries AND make them last all day because NONE of the current crop of phones has a battery that can last 24 hours. All the screen shots that show that much time are from people that don't really use the phone much at all.
Also a micro sd in addition to internal storage should have been mandatory

i managed 2 1/2 days mediium use and almost 3 days with light to no use, using it hardcore on 3g for hours on end i managed 5 before i started running the battery down (using phone while charging) and even now that i definitely know ive shortened the battery life i can still manage 2.75 hours non stop hardcore use on 3g, when i switch to wifi this phone becomes the terminator and refuses to die lol if only i got that kind of use on cm, but hey its a nightly and these last 2 update are very close to my normal life, pretty soon they will surpass it

Over a day with over 3 hours of screen on time which included video streaming is pretty damn impressive considering how I was using a high brightness setting and how big the screen on this phone is.
You're expecting too much without showing any understanding of why it isn't easy to get a high end phone to last all day. It has high powered components that draw more power, as well as a bigger screen than most phones on the market. What we get from it is impressive and it isn't going to dramatically improve anytime soon, unless they start to include DROID RAZR MAXX sized batteries, which I doubt will happen soon.

I don't think i expect too much, just a battery that can last 24 hours with normal usage.
I couldn't even get 24 hours out of the raxr maxx although it came the closest.
Basically you're saying you get over a day while only using the phone for 3 hours. On a work day I'll do 4 hours just to and from work, then time during lunch and sporadic phone checks during the day and after so many hours of use, phone dies.
My galaxy s 3 had gotten me 17 hours once, but the phone was just sitting there for the most part.
I tested the standby time and just let it drain and got 3 days it of it, would have been more of i didn't send that text lol
I just want a better battery

You're getting stuck on the concept that you're only "using" your phone for as long as the screen is on. Even when the screen is off, it's doing a lot of work.
With current battery technology paired with high powered phones, you just aren't going to get that full day with a ton of screen on use that you want. We all want that. It's just not really possible right now.
