If you have hboot 1.5 you have to use flashimage gui made by joeykrim on the market. It's a easy app and it safley flashes it for hboot 1.5 users since we still have s-on

[Q] How to Change/Switch Custom Kernel?

Hi there, i am currently using Wolfbreak's TW009 with BB.54 and zKernel, but i want to switch to Goro's 3.60 kernel (or 3.62) can i just flash Goro's kernel over zkernel or do i need to go back to Stock kernel first?, in that case is there a way to go back to stock kernel without resetting the whole thing? o.o
EDIT: i just flashed the new custom kernel over the old custom kernel, it worked

Make sure ya get all files needed before doing anything Ya need to (1) unlock bootloader, then (2)flash required Kernel for ICS. Then (3)get to the recovery mode provided along with the Kernel.Next, (4)flash the ROM and there ya go, (5)Reboot and Enjoy. Hope Helps

To be precise, If ya in locked bootloader status, full wipe and clear cache partition (note these action will getya System Data wiped along) will get ya back to stock kernel everytime. If ya in unlocked bootloader status, just get ya Stock Kernel for Unlocked Bootloader X10 to be flashed via flashtool, then ya will get it worked, your ROM won't be affected. Just RAM and governors and little tweak added within the kernel you flashed. Hope helps

[Q] Question about flashing ROMs and Kernels

I was just wondering if you flash a new ROM is it necessary to flash a kernel right after? I just recently flashed the ICS port on my Nexus S and I was wondering if I have to flash my kernel again. Thanks
No, you do not have to flash a kernel after flashing a rom. Plus, using that rom (which is in its very early stages), it's not recommended that you flash anything on it.

Yeah that's gonna be an issue, use flash image GUI to flash the kernel before you flash the Rom, meaning...while you're in your current Rom use flash image GUI and find your ics Rom and the app will take out the kernel and flash it. Then you need to go to recovery and flash the ics Rom

Hi all. I want to have stock rom on my evo 3d, but I want to flash another kernel to use beats audio. I understood that I can't flash another kernel on an old Ruu. Can u link me latest Ruu? And say me all I have to do to flash stock rom (latest), root and recovery, with another kernel naturally. Thanks

you can install a stock ROM, then flash chad goodman's stock kernel with beats drivers.
only change he made to it is the audio drivers. it will work with any ROM that is the latest RUU.
check out www.androidfilehost.com and browse to the directory of chad goodman. you will find it under the kernels directory.

Which Kernel did you flash??
Your first thing you should do is restore a backup (Which you should always make before doing something dangerous like flashing.... Anything....)
If you don't have a backup, Reflash a rom, Any rom that you know will boot, The most stable closest to stock rom you can. I'm from the CDMA section so I don't know your roms.
If worse comes to worst, Find your correct ruu and flash that, It'll take you to 100% stock, and unroot you, But rooting is easy :silly:

1.53 hboot isnt compatible to all roms (afaik only sense 3/3.6 based roms and the Viper sense 4.1 rom)
U would need to downgrade to 1.49 if u want to flash everything...
Which rom did you flash?

It was yoda kernel if I remember correctly.
You should Definitely grab the stock kernel when in a bad spot, I'd link it, But I don't have a GSM phone, I'm sure you can find it.
Be aware that the newer kernels are just for jelly beans Roms, also are you s-on, if so the kernel is not flashing correctly. I would also suggest updated your recovery to 4ext . If your s-on , 4 ext has smart flash which will flash the kernel correctly
