My white Galaxy S II got into a boot loop and the bootloop fix thread where I flash a stock ROM isn't working. Is there different firmware for the the white Galaxy S II I don't know about? Please help this is urgent.

Do you actually have an I9100?
Yes a white one. Another question to why I might be doing this wrong. Do I have to flash the matching kernel? and if I need to do that which section do I load that in on odin.

Sorry, but oinkylicious' question is a VERY valid one. Given you are on AT&T, it begs the question: are you SURE you have a GT-I9100?
There are many different models of the Galaxy SII.
The GT-I9100 is the international version (I have one), which happens to work on AT&T's network, but you would have had to buy it internationally, imported it, or bought it through a re-seller.
AT&T sells two different AT&T branded models of Galaxy SII. The HSPA+ version of the Galaxy SII (SGH-I777), and the LTE version of the Galaxy SII (SGH-I727), which is also called the Galaxy SII: Skyrocket.
They are ALL different, and flashing a ROM meant for one of them onto another will usually result in a very expensive paperweight. So if you flashed a ROM from the link you posted above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278), you very may well have to exchange it or take it to service.
If you take the battery out, what does it say for the model on the sticker underneath?

Then no; white, black, shouldn't make a difference. (as long as it's not a i9100G)
You shouldn't have to flash a kernel on top of the firmware - the firmware will include a kernel. The only reason you would have to flash a kernel on top of the firmware is if you want root, or a custom kernel.
You didn't tick "repartition" or try to include a .pit file, did you?
No I didn't do that

Ok, so what happens now then? Does the phone still bootloop?
How about you break down exactly the steps you are following? Otherwise it's a guessing game on what went wrong.
Alright so I tried to install a Chinese ROM from this link
http://forum.mobileshelp.com/qualco...guage-samsung-galaxy-ii-i9100-guide-here.html
Then I got stuck in a boot loop
Now I've tried flashing some of the stock roms in that thread and I'm still stuck in a boot loop
I open I up Odin and I load up the ROM into the PDA slot and then I click start

By "that thread", do you mean Intratech's thread with all the official firmwares? (This one? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278) Which one are you choosing?
I've tried the XEU one and a Frankenstein one
If this helps it says something like can't access into [a directory that has system in it] once it enters the screen with the little android once it goes out of download mode
edit2: The problem has been solved. I had to go into recovery and do a wipe.
Big thanks to everyone who helped me out in this thread.

Hey guys. I recently rooted my galaxy s2 (Vodafone UK White) using the method of flashing an insecure kernel, then using one click root. My original kernel was I believe i9100BUKI1, I couldn't find the exact insecure version so I flashed i9100BUKE1. I didn't think to backup my original one so I was stuck with flashing back the secure version of i9100BUKE1. The problem I have is that now my phone has washed out colours on the screen and the battery life is shocking.
Is there any place I can get hold of the original kernel that shipped with my phone?
Thanks.

Will that flash the right kernel along with the firmware?
If you flash XX1 firmware it always has XX1 kernel .

I really think I need to have the right firmware. With the stock one my phone randomly turns off and on again. Is there anywhere I can get the BUKI firmware or kernel, I cannot find it anywhere.
I'm also having problems with a washed out screen. I rooted my s2, and noticed that the screen became really washed out, particularly noticeable on the camera and on video playback. It was originally kernel xwkdd. I decided to unroot it and went back to a samsung repair shop. They tried fixing it but it did not work. He now told me that he was waiting for the white s2 screens to come, he would try replace that and if that did not work, then he would send it into samsung. The kernel version is now xwkd6 which i've never heard of or seen on the internet. (for insecure and secure kernels) Shall I try fiddling around or just be patient and get samsung to replace it? If i were to try something, can you tell me what to do? Thanks
I think the only way I can fix mine is by getting the original firmware that I had. I cannot find it anywhere on the internet though. I really need someone to post the kernel or a backup of there rom. Please can someone do this for me?

I have tried all these firmware already, the colours are either washed out, or the phone just restarts constantly. I really don't understand how no one has ever posted this firmware. If you google it, people talk about it but it is no where to be downloaded. It needs the be the BUKI one, not the BUKE or BUKG ones. Definitley not the XX ones.
Please someone post this
just flash one of the ealier one from here and then update via kies to see if you get it back.

I have tried every unbranded and every vodafone firmware now, and all of them have obscure results with my phone.
There must be another unlisted version??
Are you sure it's "washed out" Can you get pics? maybe it's a coincidental hardware fault? I mean.. It should work?
Have you tried fiddling with the display settings? There are various DNIE modes that could be the cause.

afaik the I9100M works perfectly fine with international roms.
The I9100T also does, but needs to use I9100T modems.

Sorry for the nitpick, but this can be changed by a ROM flash. e.g. an I9100T can be made to read as just an I9100 in that menu if an I9100 ROM is flashed.
Heck, someone who was an SGH-I777 user flashed an I9100 rom, and this read as an I9100, and displayed GT-I9100 on the boot screen afterwards.
EDIT: Here's that post I was talking about.

Yes, that is true, but if someone is asking ask they are going to root, its reasonable to assume that they haven't put a custom rom on there phone.
But you are right, thus they could do both, that way they could know if its been changed

I bricked my Sprint S3 trying to flash Omega. It wont even turn on no matter what i do, and trust me I have tried it all. So I have found a few vids about usb jigs and how to use them. So if im able to get in download mode what should I push thru odin? Was there or is there a .tar somewhere that brings you back to stock?
someone please help.
Anything you find here will be for the international version, and as you know now, won't be compatible with the us versions.
Try the us versions forums and see if anyone has anything that can help.

Chances are you killed that poor Galaxy S III, R.I.P.
Custom ROMs are meant for the International Version of Galaxy S III (GT-I9300) and if Im correct the one from Sprint is a variant.
The only way to have this fixed is to send it for JTag (Forced Download Mode via Hardware manipulation)
u flash rom which is made for international s3 .. I think that's y u brick

fixboot tar
if you can get into download mode you can flash a tar called fixboot found on the at&t section of the galaxy s3 on this site. It worked for mine when it wouldnt come off of the dreaded download screen with the yellow exclamation triangle on it. Just a thought. it works on the sprint version too.
If you can get a replacement phone though insurance or otherwise.. do that.
otherwise jtag repair from Josh worked but i had no lte coverage.
i am sure he has the updated tools to fix that now. but be carefull out there and learn your phones model number.
Hey guys I'm getting a S II today through Asurion since my Sensation broke and they didn't have any Sensations left so they offered me an HTC Amaze or S II and I took the S II. I am on the T-Mobile network. Anyways to my question as far as rooting can I use the method in this video:
http://galaxys2root.com/t-mobile-gal...y-s2-sgh-t989/
Also, I can just download gapps and the CM9 nightly and place on SD card and flash through CWM like any other phone right?
Lastly, in anticipation of receiving my S II I've been reading these forums and I noticed that Samsung has included some type of ROM flash counter that counts how many times you flash different FW's/ROMs. Is there any precautions I need to take or anything like that or just flash CM9 like you would flash it on any other phone? Thanks in advance!

FYI, it appears that you already know that the T-mobile USA Galaxy S II is the SGH-T989? Well, that phone has its own forum. This is the forum for the GT-I9100, which is the international version. Firmwares/ROMs and kernels are NOT compatible between the two.

Hi,
Last year I rooted my SGS II, unlocked it from Orange and installed Villian ROM (which I have bee perfectly happy with). I've just ordered my new upgrade SGS III (on T-Mobile), which will be here in a few days
As a result i want to sell my SGS II, but hink it would be more attractive if it were a stock samsung ROM.
I'm a bit rusty on flashing etc as it was quite some time ago that I rooted/flashed the phone, so I just wanted to ask if I can simply download the stock ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487)? and flash using Odin to replace the custom Villian ROM?
Don't really want to brick the phone!
My SGS II is as follows:
Originally Orange I9100P
PDA: I9100XXK13
Phone: I9100XXLPB
Model: GT-I9100
Kernel: 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5+
VillianROM 3.0
Thanks

Yes it is a I9100P
I would just like to get a fairly standard Samsung ROM working on there so it has stuff like allshare and swype etc. But obviously still want it to be unlocked.
It is branded I9100P on the back cover next to the Orange logo, so I guess that is what it is. Although the phone reports it is an I9100, but I guess this could be down to what I done to unlock it (though for the life of me I can't remember how I did it).

Many thanks for the offer. Yeah, as you say, probably not worth the grief.
As long as I can get a standard type ROM running and unlocked I'll be happy.
My new S3 arrives Tuesday, so I'll wait unitl then before doing anything with the S2, just in case of any issues as I don't want to be left without a phone.
Just out of interest, what is a mint S2 worth roughly?
Could be around £230-260.I only keep my eye open for cracked screen/dont switch on ones.
They can go for up to £160.
Just put it on eBay for a starting price of £200 or a buy it now for what you want.....or let it roll from 99p and get your mates to bump up the price...
