So I was told to only use the back button to leave an app when I'm done, which closes it so its not running all the time. I do that, but for some reason it doesn't quite work on some apps... for instance on the browser, if my wifi session dies while using my campus wifi, I have to force close the browser for it to automatically bring up the login page. And the app quickdesk also shows that the browser is always running. I shouldn't have to force close, and I hear bad things about other task killers... but it wont end itself. what to do?
Sent from my Motorola Atrix using the XDA App
So after a long browsing session you hit back back back back back back back until the browser closes.?. Or you force kill it. Do you have a particular reason why or your just following someone else's 'back out' preferences? I say there is no reason to end your browser, none. If you are playing a game, then yes there might be advantages to backing out opposed to hitting the "home" key. However, just this morning I was playing PvZ and hit the home key, no lag and two hours later I opened the game to the same spot and continued.
The Atrix manages tasks very well, much better than my Captivate for instance. For the most part it will background a task so its not burning up cpu/bat. I'm sure you may have noticed the task manager popup from time to time saying "the following app has been running 45 minutes, would you like to kill it?". If you are worried about what apps are burning up your cpu/bat, use Watchdog.

Yeah I usually don't have a problem. My problem is that I want the browser to end so that it can start up a new session next time. Like I said with the wifi login...Usually my browser is on the google homepage, so since it never ends it will always open up google again. Then when my wifi session dies, I open the browser so that the login page will show up, but just google tries to load because it's trying to 'remember' a previous session with the app. I realize what I'm trying to explain probably sounds really confusing lol sorry.
I have just installed Pandora on my phone running Turkbey v37SE and it will open but not load any of the stations. Admittedly, I have removed and disabled many apps, services and features on this ROM to get things close to the belt, but I'm not sure what I did to keep Pandora from working. I had all DRM stuff frozen, but upon defrosting it still wouldn't work. My wife's phone has rooted stock 2.3.4 and Pandora works great. I've uninstalled and re-installed a few times to no avail.
Anybody recognize this situation? I could Nandroid back to another ROM and give it a go, but I thought I'd tap into the Knowledge Base of XDA first.
Thanks for any insight you can give.
I go for long bicycle rides (30 miles +/-) and use Endomondo to keep track of distance, calories, speed, etc. It updates all this information regularly with computer-generated voice and I can hear it through my earphones. One thing Endomondo doesn't do is tell me what time it is. I wear wrist braces because of my history of carpal tunnel problems, so the only way I have for telling time right now is to strap my watch onto the handlebars. Does anyone know if there is an app that will tell me the time at regular intervals? Thanks.
If you are rooted, you can use Tasker to do this, I believe the "Say" command is listed under "Misc" and you can set up a task to say the time at any desired interval. You could even set it up to begin when Endomondo starts and stop when it exits.

Sounds perfect. I'll take a look at Tasker. Thanks!
Edit - Tasker looks like a very useful tool. It also clearly has a learning curve. This will take time, but it could be fun.
I have a D801(tmobile LG G2) rooted stock rom, I am also running smart start version 3.1. I am trying to find what data the app is sending and where it sends it. My hopes are to have tasker perform this task in conjunction with autovoice as of now i have tasker load app input tap then kill the app. I am happy with the way it works but wanna see if it can be done without loading the app. Any help with this would be great Thanks.
Got update today on Nike app, says syncs with shealth. Don't see how or where to sync
You need the update of s health as well. .. Just got it installed on my note 4. Now I see nike+ integrated in s health...
Thanks. Dumb q. How do you get the shealth update? My galaxy store doesn't show my apps some lollipop
I Dont see anything about sheal in the Nike + running app or s health and they're both updated
I updated everything and I see nothing.
Can you please tell us what to do?
S Health is not a simply app update. Samsung managed to create segmentations on S Health, e.g. each different phone models see different versions of S Health only. My Galaxy Alpha only sees S Health 3.5 that was last updated on Jan 2015.
I downloaded the new apk and updated by myself. Yes, now Nike is in S Health.

I don't know where to download it. My phone shows S Health app in Galaxy app store when it was on 4.4.4. But now with 5.0.2, it no longer shows. S Health is not a simple app to update. It depends on all kind of Samsung services to work. Samsung managed to get million different version of S Health targeting million different models of Samsung phone. I typically just wait and once in a while Samsung will push the S Health update to my phone.
Or you can search for S Health APK but keep in mind it may not work for you specific phone.
Odd thing. Updated to lollipop on my Note 4. S-Health is version 4.1.1.0037. It also now shows up in the Google Play Store as well as the Galaxy Apps store.
Casual jogging.
I've been using Gear S and Nike+ for running on a weekly basis. Here are some battery saving tips I have developed. My watch has no SIM card, so no battery drain that way. I use it simply as a GPS distance-measuring + MP3 player over BT mix.
1) Go to Settings just before a run and turn on "GPS". Usually it gets a signal pretty quickly. Then go to "motions" and disable all. Also, go to S Heath and disable the Pedometer.
2) If you jog with musicConnect your BT headphones. Turn on the Music from the Music player, as Nike does not know how to shuffle (whatever, Nike).
3) Go into Nike+ app, decline Music and Cheer requests. Wait a couple minutes, start your run and watch for the green GPS dot to appear.
When all goes as planned, I get more than two hours battery life (estimated). Went down from 90% to 40% battery life during an 1:25 hour 10 mile run. In theory, if you run fast enough Half-Marathon should be no problem, and if you do not use BT for Music at all, then it can probably go more than 3 hours on a single charge with Motion and Pedometer off. Good enough for casual jogging.
This watch is awesome for casual running. Share your tips, if you have any! Thanks!

There is a Running feature in S Health.
For those that updated, can you still use Nike+ or do you now need to use sHealth, because Nike is integrated into it?
I run every day, and switched from sHealth to Nike+ 2 months ago because the GPS signal would take forever to lock in sHealth. How are things after the update? Is sHealth faster? Nike+ slower?
I keep using the NIKE+ for running, but after the update GPS took about 5-7 minutes to lock...will retry again today or tomorrow.

Thank you thank you!! I have not even looked into possibly updating until I hear user feedback, as I was afraid it may slow down the GPS. Can't wait to hear back from you or others after you next run.
Is anything else new or different?
One more question: does Nike now track your HR? On my Gear S, it never did. Just wondering if that has changed since the update.
Thanks!
HR works for me sometimes, depending on how sweaty my hand is + hair . But it is imprecise, as far as I gather.
GPS lock now takes forever. .. ran yesterday and it pretty much skipped the first 750 meters + fooled around with the watch 5 mins beforehand. It still counts the distance though. I never carry the phone with me though.

Thanks strikey17. Is there any benefit to the upgrade that you can see, then? Sounds to me like I should make sure it does not install, if it only slows down the GPS.

How Can I use S health in my Gear S2 to running then sync data with nike+ App?
Nothing to do with the watch app. Nike+ phone app now supports sync data into S Health phone app. Not the other ways around. Your watch S Health app already sync data with S Health app on the phone. So here is how it goes:
Nike+ watch app -> Nike+ phone app->S Health phone app
S Health watch app -> S Health phone app
