Hi flyer fans,
I'm still using the old HTC Desire and I'm really enjoying it, trying out all sorts of custom roms etc.
There is a really great Flyer deal available and I'm keen to take the plunge.
I know it might be silly but I'm wondering if the Flyer is a viable option as a primary mobile device? I'll probably keep the Desire as backup until I get my RAZR.
So long as you use a headset and stay on gingerbread it can, but I would not recommend it in that capacity.
Awesome, thanks for the response.
I agree, keeping the Bluetooth on constantly just to receive calls seems unpractical.
Do you know if you can use a wired headset with mic to make & answer calls?
You can, see the related thread(s) in the development forum.
And is it possible to use an att sim card and get 3g from it?

Is the a forum for the Motorola Cliq 2? I didn't see the it listed on the phone types area? Is there another name it's known by?

I just got this phone myself, and I'm hoping to see a section for it.
Are you having any issues with wifi calling. For some reason it will not stay connected for me. It will connect for a little bit then just randomly disconnects. My G2's wifi calling works perfectly so I'm wondering if it just doesn't work well on the Cliq 2 or if one of the built in connection manager apps is interfering with it. Anyone who had this issue please post and fixes you found. Thanks

I haven't used the Wifi calling just yet, but I had a similar problem with Navigator. Was in NYC, and was using it to get me around, and it just stopped working. It was losing the data connection, and it would just stop cold turkey. Sounds similar to your problem with Wifi calling. Probably data connection related.
This MotoBlur is bull****. My sister owns a Motorola Flipside, and the software on that blows. Had to do a number of things to get that phone working right. I'm hoping for some CM7 roms on both of these phones. So far, nobody cooked any yet. Makes me miss using my G1 phone, since it had a pretty nice setup with the abundance of custom roms available. Just a SIM card swap away.
Of course, the first thing needed is a section for the Cliq 2.
The c2 is still a redheaded stepchild at this point. There is some work starting now over at m3 but it would be really nice to see something going over here.
There's already a deblurred rom with some goodies included. Someone is working on porting CM6 and maybe eventually CM7.
That is correct over at m3 there are 2 roms and a custom recovery out at this point. Looks like some good things are starting to happen!

what version of z4root did you use for get rooted you cliq 2?
Just use OneClickRoot to root this phone. The latest version works fine. The Gingerbread release has a custom root that you'll need to apply. It's on ModmyMobile.com .
I know there is alot of issues with bluetooth for the TB. I was able to have full A2DP streaming with my DINC in my car but the TB and EVO wont even connect at all. I have a Sony XPLOD MEX-BT3800U. I was just wondering whats going on with the hardware compatibility and if there are any possible ways to create compatibility. What exactly is not compatible? Is it the ROM, KERNAL or RADIO? Hardware or software profiles? If someone could answer how it all works from a development / engineering standpoint that would really ease my mind. Just curious if I should throw down another few hundred on a new radio for my car or if I should just wait for software fixes.
Thanks

Personally , I would wait for a software fix. But sometimes that might not help also. But I have some issue sometime when streaming to my radio bluetooth with a little disorder sound sometimes. Very lite.

I had a similar problem with my factory radio on my Ford Fusion. I resolved my problem by updating firmware on the factory radio (MS Sync) and running the leaked radio update for TB and a stable Rom like Perfect Storm 1.4 and 1.11 batsaver kernel. My issues were resolved, I was having problems with pairing, when it would pair I would lose connection within 1 to 2 min and could not regain. Very fustrating. I attribute most of my issues with OC of TB I was too aggressive running what I thought stable at 1.5 Ghz.

I had some similar issues with my stock TB loosing bluetooth connectivity with my car. I would get in the car, it would connect, then a minute later disconnect. Turns out, I was able to fix it by unpairing, then reparing; and denying permission for the car to download the phonebook from my phone. Something in my contact list was causing the issue.
Weird about the phonebook

I have the Sony MEXBT2700 and it worked great with the tb at first, but then it, the tb, started acting up whenever I would turn the car off. This was one week after launch day for the tb. It would literally cut all sound off on the phone till I restarted, so I ended up calling verizon, then sent me a new phone about two weeks after launch day.
Since then it has been working perfect, sq isnt great, but its better than doing bluetooth from my Macbook pro.
If you've got a Ford with Synch
Just in case you've got a Ford vehicle with Synch, there is seemingly random problem that sounds like this and I posted some info over at Ford Syncmyride site. In a nut shell, simply pull the fuze for the system wait about a minute and then replace. If you're like me and you couldn't find the correct circuit disconnect battery cable.
Seems the system needs to do a "battery pull". Only have experience with the Ford Sync but that's my .02 and I hope it helps.
I have sync in my '08 focus and i've never had issues with any of my phones streaming music or placing/receiving calls.

Me neither, I have a 2010 F-150 and I have had no issues with Sync.

Bluetooth with my TB to my JVC headunit has been rather problematic for me. What I did finally discover was that if I didn't allow for phonebook syncing, all is well. I am currently on Das BAMF 1.6.1 and now have perfect streaming of music and calls as long as I deny that silly phonebook.
Hope that helps.
I bought a small bluetooth keyboard specifically for use with my ThunderBolt. Using CyanogenMod 7, it will work fine. However, if I use any rom that is based on sense, the bluetooth keyboard will not sync correctly. I've read that sense uses an outdated version of the bluetooth stack. Is there any way to get the bluetooth stack that CyanogenMod uses and put it into a sense based rom?
This is something people have been after for a long time my friend. Complain to htc
On a side note, this really should have been posted in Q&A, or better yet googled.
Edit: just realized I did not technically answer you. If out is possible, no one has done out on any sense rom that I'm aware.
My bad about posting in the wrong place. I have googled it and found nothing that solved the problem. Since there are a lot of smart people here, I thought I would ask it here.

What was the solution?
The title says it all...
I am currently typing this on a bluetooth keyboard. I am running an AOSP based rom now and loving it. Link is in my signature if anyone wants to check it out.

I havent tried it yet, but using my old blackberry keyboard via bluetooth would be kind of cool if I could get it to interface.
i had this: http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PA-BK03-PB&cat=KYB
it worked on my old Incredible 2 and my gf's iphone.
keyword being 'had'... it started having issues connecting. would have to try 2 - 3 times occassionally before it connected. rather then exchange i just got a refund.

What should I do? Do I update it over the air? Should I learn how to flash/root/unlock and find a custom that would be good?
That's something you have to decide. Read the forums, there are plenty of reasons given as to why to root or flash custom rom. I recommend a update to stock 2.3.4 for starters.
It isn't the end of the world to update to gingerbread and not be able to downgrade. You can either do that OTA, or you can use a CWM based rom so that you could have the ability to downgrade in the future.
It comes down to this, are you comfortable with unlocking, flashing cwm, then installing roms? Do you think you will be soon? Do you have a desire or need for these things? If your answer is no to both questions then just OTA update. It doesn't cripple your phone and you can always adjust the phone to any release using CWM when you are comfortable with it.
I can tell you this. If you value having a reliable bluetooth connection I'd think twice about upgrading to Gingerbread. Google it...
I'm this the process now of searching this forum to figure out a safe way to get my Gingerbread update back to Froyo.
CM7!
I'd learn how to flash CM7 onto your Atrix! I was in the same boat as you (I got an Atrix on 2.2 about a month ago and didn't know how to do anything at all) and really, it's not that difficult -- just follow the instructions and you'll be fine
CM7 is so nice!

Both. I've tried it using the in car systems in an Acura TL and Ford Focus. Also tried Plantronics Voyager Pro, Discovery 975 and an old LG headset. I get the same results for all. I'm able to successfully pair without any problems. But about half the time I'm in a phone call the bluetooth connection becomes unstable and audio reverts to the phone.
I'm surprised the inability to use bluetooth hasn't garnered more uproar. It's really a safety issue. Maybe there aren't enough users on Gingerbread yet?
Hi Guys,
I know that a lot of people hate verizon's skype. I like it because it has the BT working and is using a phone not data.
Minutes are not considered toward monthly cap and it is very reliable as far as a connection goes .
Unfortunately it says not supported by this device. Use the other.
The normal skype app is not that good, resource consuming BT does not work, and it eat up a lot of data.
Esp bad when moving or insinde some buildings where signal is poorer.
My questions is if it could be modded to work on note 2.
On my GN works fine.
Many thanks
Abe

It could also b that vzw does not support it in jb. I cant find the app with my nexus on the market but installed and it worked on a custom rom.
I am hoping once custom rom will b released I can try.
I have an OG droid. I can extract the app from there.
I did install several apps 1.6.0.0 and the latest. None of them work.
One tells me that this app works only on verizon the others that there is a better version of skype.
My gripe is with the main skype app. Poor. Heavy on resources, a lot of data, battery, cpu, does not have BT working.
I cannot use when moving it sounds horrible and I am in a very good LTE area. That app works fine while still in a spot with good LTE connection or WiFi.
I love the original skype because is a simple verizon "phone call". No, it does not uses minutes since is a in network call, and the BT works. It always did. Also there is not data used almost at all
I use skype a lot with people abroad and is as good as any phone call but free and I can get the reliability of VZW network.
Now I have my GN with me and the Note 2 as well. Not a pleasant solution
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Abe
Wow, I totally forgot about this.
Yeah, that would be cool as hell to use minutes and bluetooth.
Wonder if there are any existing XDA modded versions.
Some google searching is turning up repeated mentions of such a mod .apk.
So infuriating that newest skype doesn't support bluetooth.
GRRR
Some people point to mono audio app in market as a way to force routing audio to bluetooth. This may be a partial solution fwiw.
I have RAZR Maxx HD and when I was on ICS there was a way to do it... when I tried to send an IM using Skype, it was automatically loading "Verizon's version" of Skype and then I could call anybody and anyone could call me using verizon's cellular network (not data)... not anymore... JB plugged the hole and many other. Courtesy of Verizon wireless, where customer comes last and primary goal is to milk us and generate hefty profits and bonuses... darn it.
JB vs ICS
I might be JB vs ICS. I have a Gnexus ( toro) with custom JB on it and it works fine.
I am hoping that some aosp rom would make this app work again.
I have tried in a store all the motorola and the S3 not of them would run this light Skype.
I think it has to do with the model number.
Ok. I found a way to do it. Uninstall new Skype and install "Verizon's" skype.
Next click on People and choose IM and person's nick you wanna call (it has to be assigned as skype contact) it will take you to "Verizon" skype and no need to use data.
