In using the Rezound for a week, I've noticed that the random crashes/restarts have stopped for the most part, but the other issue I'm seeing is that some web pages images will not load, but instead show a blue square with a white question mark in the middel. This happens when using the stock browser and the Dolphin browser. I've tested ever Verizon 4G smartphone since the Thunderbolt, and the Rezound is the only one that has shown this problem. If I click to refresh the web page, that will usually load the images properly instead of just showing question marks. It's also happened with email, it says Show HTML Images at the top, I click on it and sometimes get the question marks.
Has anyone noticed this while using the web browser on their Rezound?
Have not had that problem so far.

You can try www.bjs.com looking at the product images shows a lot of those question marks until you refresh the page a few times.
The first three images show the question marks, but after refreshing the page a few times, the rest of the images are shown. I've noticed this since last week on many sites, including Amazon and NewEgg.
Tried it on stock browser and opera and both worked fine.

I've tried two Rezounds, both with the included browser and Dolphin browser, and get these Question Marks with both. The Bionic and Razr don't do it, nor does the Thunderbolt.

This Is Just A Guess, But Do You Have The Latest Flash Player...I Doubt That Makes A Difference.
Both My Stock And Dolphin Browser Showed All Images Without "?'s"
I have the flash player that came with the phone. Have not updated anything yet.
I've actually had that happen. It seems to be a random thing though. I'll go to the same site and one time it will be fine. The next time I go though I'll have the boxes
sent from my new Rezound
Just loaded that site on my rezound and my wifes and my old.dinc. all loaded fine with stock browser and I have not.updated anything.
Maybe its a DNS thing from your location on the Verizon network. Try it on 3g then 4g then wi-fi.
You seem the be the only one here with the problem and since you said 2 phones did it.. its got to be related your connection in that area.

That seems to have found the problem. I changed between 4G, 3G and WiFi a few times.
When using 3G it loads all the images and doesn't show any of those question marks.
WiFi only showed one question mark, but all the rest of the images were loaded
But for some weird reason, using 4G is showing alot of those question marks instead of images. I'm not sure if its a phone issue or Verizon 4G network issue, but two Rezounds are doing it, while a Bionic and Droid Razr are not.
What do you guys suggest? BTW, all my phones have been updated to the latest version of Flash, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with this.
Go down to the vzw store and use the demo phone to pull up the site on 4G. If it works show the dude. Then try to pull it up on your phone with 4G. If it does not work show the dude and get a new phone.

These are demo phones that are sent to me by Verizon that I use for testing and work purposes (phonearena.com) so it didn't come from a store. But I get what you're saying...try one of the display models at a store and see if it does the same thing as this one.
Yeah, just tell vzw what the phones are doing and they will send 2 new ones, but I am sure you know that. Could be the LTE towers, who knows. The Thunderbolt and Rezound have had some problems with the new towers all over the US.

I have been having a weird issue with my 4G the last few days. I live in Oklahoma City which was a city that got 4G awhile ago it was running fine with no real problems until yesterday. The problem is it shows service and I can load xda app to get to forums but youtube, pda net, dolphin browser won't load. When I switch over to cdma it loads fine(just slower of course). When i switch back to LTE xda app loads and speed test .net show correct 4G numbers. I have tried flashing a new ROM from cm7 1.2, Omfgb, synergy sense 3.0 nightlies plus chingys lastest ROM. Flashed radios 2mr 2.5mr and the lastest radio chingy put on root wiki. I wipe usally 3times between flashes and dalvik a few times. I was just wondering if anyone has had this trouble or maybe its something up with Oklahoma City since it just happened a few days ago. Same thing in dallas, browser works if you use bing gotta be a google/verizon issue. I don't know why but it will not connect to google using 4g.
Same thing in the DFW area of TX. I cannot connect to G+ on 4G but if I switch over to 3G it works fine. Also have the browsing issue on the stock browser.

Verizon had no clue what I was talking about. What's really aggravating is google voice isn't working either on 4g.
I do not think its a root or radio issue. I have Th3roy on mine with the leaked radio its got no google voice or browser on 4g, 3g is fine, im in Tulsa. One of my buddies had two non rooted tb's they're both doing exactly the same thing.
4glte data to the browser and google voice is back up here in Tulsa at 1907
im having the same problem here in text i read on the CM7 people were having this problem too it says i have 4g but when i try to use my apps or go on the internet pages wont load. i have notice that if i switch to cdma 3g it works just fine so i been on while im out in about. i also notice that when i use wifi tether on 4g it works just fine when i am connected tp my xbox and laptop i get good speeds but on my phone web pages just wont load. i went ahead and called verizon about the problem and they said nothing was wrong with 4g here in the south even tho they are reciving alot of calls about the issue and tried to trouble shoot me which didnt wor and say i wasnt in a 4g area even tho houston was in the frist batch of of cities to get 4gand i tried trouble shoot myself by changeing roms and radios still no lucky.. i believe verizon messed something up because i just started having these problems saturday night and either dont know whats going on or are playing dumb until they figure it out....sorry about the long message

Hey everyone,
The problem with the 4g in Houston seems to be a DNS issue. I have a thunderbolt and very few of my Google apps or services seem to be able to connect even though 4g indicator is on.
Here's a link to the topic on rootzwiki where people have found a solution:

If you're phone is rooted please try the set DNS app to change to the appropriate DNS and let us all know how it goes. Since my phone isn't rooted, I will wait it out a little longer just to see if Verizon fixes the DNS. However, I think we should all email/call/harass Verizon as much as possible. It's flat out unacceptable to the consumers who paid good money and locked in on a 2 year contract to get 4g. I could have taken my money elsewhere but Verizon has the fastest network, but if Verizon can't get their DNS server working then I'd rather take my money elsewhere.
I just grabbed set DNs and used Google dnsand my 4glte is now running fine. Good idea.

Same here. I put it in LTE mode, and used the DNS fix, and half hour later, I don't get any 4G, and no data at all. 3G seems to work.
I decided to restore my default DNS settings back.
EDIT: Never mind its back up now.
So I've had my Note for 2 days now and I've noticed that Google talk never stays connected. When I wake the phone up and open Gtalk it always shows that it had lost the connection and then starts reconnecting. I'm in the middle of Atlanta and I have never once left LTE coverage, so I know its not a handoff issue.
Has anyone else had trouble with this? Think I'm gonna get the phone switched out for a new one today if this turns out to be just me.

I currently have the same issue, but it's been happening on my last couple of devices before I got my note. Last time I checked / googled (about a month ago) there were a lot of people having this issue with various devices and no solid solution yet so you probably won't need to switch out your note as it may not help.
I've tried a number of things with no success but if anyone else has ideas that would be great.
Wow that is very dissapointing. My Captivate I had before this had no problems what-so-ever with google talk. I really don't want to have to switch back to that, but I use Google talk a lot and it might be a deal killer for me.

This has been going on for months and mostly happens in LTE markets.
If anyone found a solution to this problem please share.

I exchanged it last Monday the 12th, the new one never had the problem from the very beginning. I am in the Atlanta area, it seems like it is a problem of individual phones if exchanging for a new one fixed it for me, also not everyone is experiencing the problem from what I can tell.

This is not related to a device as I tested with 3 different lte devices and they all had the same issue. I then placed the same sim card in my none lte galaxy note and the problem went away. I haven't checked since early March as I am out of the country but who knows...maybe they finally fixed the issue.

There have been no software updates to this phone at all, I'm using the stock ROM too. If my first phone had the problem and my second one doesn't, that means its an issue with individual devices (maybe a lot if you had the problem on 3 different ones). The chances of there being any changes on AT&T's side at the exact moment I exchanged my phone are absurdly small.

I understand that but i had 4 different devices (LTE note, Galaxy II Skyrocket, One of their new LTE LG phone - forgot the name and their Elevate 4G LTE mifi). They were all on different lines with different simcards and they ALL had the google talk issue.
The only time this was not happening with an LTE device is when i traveled outside of an LTE coverage zone. This is the only time the connection was stable.
You must agree that it is impossible that all of these devices were defected right?
I also have a none LTE galaxy note and a galaxy nexus and this is not happening on those devices (as they are not LTE).
It is something with their LTE network setup that is killing the connection to the Google servers after a certain time of idle.
Just thought I'd add that I'm in an area where I'm on the very edge of the nearest LTE tower, so I'm constantly switching between that and HSPA+ (and WiFi while at home) and I haven't noticed any issues with staying connected with GTalk. None of my friends have noticed me getting disconnected either. The only issue I've had is it doesn't always set me to away when the screen is locked, although it does seem to always set me as Online when I unlock the screen.
Ever since around the 4th my 4g has been acting up like crazy. I live in Hollywood so I don't think it's a verizon issue. Has anyone else been having problems? I'm thinking maybe it was from an app update with a glitch in it? My phone is totally stock but I have around 400 apps (I know, too many, I can't help it...) I've gone through all of the app permissions looking for an app that can change my network connections but no luck so far. I know this is kind of a shot in the dark but if anyone else had this happen and figured it out that would be great. I'm open to suggestions.

The My Verizon App was recently updated (and removed the homescreen widget, so I didn't update mine), so that might have something to do with the problem.
Does 3G work fine?
I have been having this same problem, so is a friend on another device. When we switch to 3g, 4g never returns unless airplane mode is cycled.
My my verizon app is up to date but I still have the data widget. I haven't updated the "location agent" one though. I'm not sure about the 3g working...the 4g symbol just comes and goes so fast I don't think the phone has time to switch onto 3g. It doesn't happen 24/7 but when it does it's like a non stop cycle of on and off (like an app struggling to do something)..

So my daughter just recorded a 10 min video on its a small world. Next time I check my phone I have no 3 or 4 g just bars. I don't think anything of it until I'm elsewhere and my wife has 4g and I don't. I cycle my 4g widgetsoid and get service. Screen off and on and no Vs again. Airplane mode, same problem. Finally I put it in airplane, powered it off and did a battery pull. It's fine now.
I've tried turning the phone off, fully restarting it, pulling the battery, and cycling through airplane mode but I haven't tried pulling the battery off after powering down while in airplane mode though (that was a mouthful). Maybe that's the magic combination... I'll give it a shot and see what happens, thanks. I'll post if it helps out or not.

Had the same issue sporadically. Only app I've added since then is Firefox beta but seriously doubt that is to blame.
Actually had this issue this morning for a bit, then resolved on its own.
I have been having the issue of my 4g randomly dropping, 3g not kicking on (just signal bars), and the 4g coming back when it feels like it.
I did a battery pull, cycling the 4g, airplane mode, etc. and still having the same issue.
This started around Verizon's useless upgrade.

I also have had the worst 4g service the past week or so. I have a htc rezound and live in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. I have tried everything under the sun but cannot get it working. This is obviously a Verizon issue, because it started happening out of nowhere. I didn't download any nee apps or change any system settings. I don't understand why this is happening. I do not want a refurbed phone so I will not send mine in for a replacement. I'm sure that wouldn't even fix the issue. Verizon needs to get to work and figure this out.

Ok, so I've had the issue that the OP is talking about since I got the phone like 5 days ago. Since I wasn't rooted (and still aren't) I decided to call Verizon about the issue. I've talked to multiple Verizon techs and after they had me do basic steps, like checking wireless networks settings. Nothing they told me I hadn't tried myself already prior to calling them. I even got a replacement BRAND NEW rezound and sim card and am still having the same issue. I have decided to try and figure it out myself and have been running various logcats to try and narrow the issue down. Problem is I don't really know how to read these logs too well. If there was someone who has more knowledge in reading logcat logs id be happy to upload or send them to you if you think you can help. Any help in resolving this issue would be awesome as Verizon seems to be unaware of the issue up until now and I would like to resolve it before I root. I'm going to give them a call tonight and explain some of my findings to see if they can give anymore input or get me to a higher lvl tech.

According to my findings, it very well could be. I'm thinking it may have something to do with vznavigator. But don't quote me on that as from what I said before, I don't know how to read logcats too well.

Hey all,
A few weeks ago, I switched from MeanBean to Jelly-Bam ROM. At the time, I thought this was a Jelly-Bam issue, but I'm pretty sure it's not now. When I switched ROMs, I noticed that my data was slow. I work in Baltimore County, MD and lost my 4G signal. I have occasionally seen 4G at home since I noticed this issue, but it's rare. I typically only get 3G and often it's less than 1MB/s. I tried switching back to MeanBean and that didn't help (I had updated the radio before switching back, I would think that would only help). I have updated my radio (currently running 1.12.11.1210) and that hasn't helped. What made me think it's not the ROM is that my wife has a stock Evo 4G LTE and she also has slow data speeds. BUT, my brother has an S3, also on Sprint and in the same town and he's getting 4G fine. I do have my have my Network Mode set to LTE/CDMA (actually on Jelly-Bam it's LTE/CMDA/EvDo). I'm running Jelly Bam 7.8.0 (CyanogenMod version 10.1.0-RC2-jewel). Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions as to what could be the problem with my phone. If I can provide more information, let me know and I'll get it for you.
Thanks so much in advance.
Baltimore and supporting areas are still going thru LTE upgrades, it's still on-off for some areas. Annapolis is lit 100% as far as I can tell.

Is your evidence of the S3 pulling in 4G while your device does not anecdotal or have you performed a side-by-side comparison? The answer to this will help us narrow down your problem.

Unless things have gone backwards, I don't think that is the case. I used go get 4G in Baltimore. I've seen as high as 25MB/sec, maybe even higher. Now I don't see 4G ever down here. (I've seen it a few times at my home in York County, PA since this issue, but it doesn't last long and the fastest I've seen is maybe 5MB/sec. But most times its 3G and less than 1MB/sec.)

My evidence is based on my seeing absolutely no 4G at the time (I've seen a few few times briefly as noted in the post above.), while my brother who is less than 1 mile away see's great 4G (faster than his home wifi so over 15 MB/s). I have consistently had terrible speeds around town while he consistently has good speeds. No, we have not stood side by side and done a test, but I know how my signals used to be and how they should be and I'm nowhere near that.
I was actually near the Key Bridge last night and where I usually get LTE or at least have in the past, I got solid 3G, I tried airplane method and reboot, switching from CDMA back to LTE to no avail. Soon as I got back into Pasadena the LTE was solid. I never was sure about the differences between the Samsund devices vs. HTC but for me, the signal is sporadic which in the past has been due to Sprint upgrades. Hope it gets better and check out the SG4RU site for specific information about your area. Thru have a ton of info that will let you aware of the work and or upgrades in your specific area in Baltimore.

It just doesn't make sense to me that Sprint reception would decrease by so much and (as far as I can tell) completely lose 4G coverage at my work and mostly lose it at my home at the same time, while my brother continues to receive great service on his S3. I just don't see how that could happen.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Any ideas what could be wrong with my phone? Anything else I can update? Any settings for me to check that I might have missed? (I feel like I've check them all, but I'm up for anything at this point.)
Thanks in advance. This is driving me nuts.

I'd like to throw my own recent experience in here.
My wife has the OG Evo. I have the Evo LTE. While I do not get LTE in this area, I still get 3G coverage. The other day, out of the blue, my wife's 3G quit working and she has next to no service while I have solid coverage, and yes this is side by side.
Call me crazy right now because if what I am about to say, but I have this inkling of a feeling that Sprint is directly behind her almost completely losing signal in an area where 3 towers surround us to attempt to get one of us to call in, complain, and get coerced into an upgrade (she's due for one as of June 1st, go figure right?
I've noticed this happen whenever I was due for upgrades on my older phones too such as the Hero, Moment, etc... if I could pinpoint what they're doing, if they're doing anything, they'd be in some majorly serious ish.
So, I called Sprint and they walked me through #72786# update on my wife's phone. Apparently both of our phones were "off the network". We went through it for my wife's phone and it put it back on the network, whatever that means, but it didn't improve her service. They're now telling me our options are to take it to the nearest Sprint store with a repair center (the closest 2 are about an hour away each) or pay the shipping to return it to HTC.
They told me I could do the #72786# update on my phone and that it would not get rid of my root. Does anyone know this to be true? I'd like to try it on mine since they say it also is not "on the network". Because it does a firmware update, I wanted to check to see if that would interfere with the root access on my phone or my ability to gain root again, should I ever get rid of root.
Which brings me to my next question, if the above is safe for my rooted phone, I try it, and it does not work. How do I go about returning my phone to it's stock configuration? I've read a little about RUU, but haven't been able to figure out enough of it or where to get the RUU to feel comfortable doing it yet. If I do an RUU, will I be able to get my root (and s-off) rights back on my phone? How about if they try to bring my phone completely up-to-date? Is there a way to root currently up-to-date phones?
I know I've packed a lot of info and questions in there, but I would really appreciate any help and answers that people can give me. Thanks so much!!

Did your wife ever update her profile? I'm 99 percent sure sprint isn't cutting off her 3g. Check the link in my sig, bottom of post 1 faq, those steps will work for the og as well...

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, we just updated her profile via System Updates-->Update Profile. If there's more to it than that, let me know. I'll take a look at the link in your signature too.

Yeah there is quite a bit more to it. Is she rooted? Because that will help save her data if a hard reset (##786#) is in order...

No, she is not rooted. So for now, I figured I'd start with trying this on my phone. Unfortunately, the MSL reader app wasn't able to read it. I'm actually in an old version of my phone. I'm going to install my last backup and work from that since I'm somewhat hopeful this will fix my problem. I might as well do it from my latest ROM. I'll have that up in 10 minutes or less and I guess I'll try to work through your instructions...
If it works on my phone, I guess I'll go through it with my wife's then. I have everything important backed up on mine. I'll have to check hers real quick to make sure she doesn't have any recent pictures, but I think those should be on Dropbox. I assume it will tell me before I might have to do that so I'll know to double-check everything if it comes to that.
Sorry if I've asked any questions that are explained in the instructions...I just wanted to reply and now I'll continue reading through them.
Hard reset on your phone will wipe everything in data/app as well as your internal sd. Your external will be fine as well as your wife's external however she will lose all apps, sms, mms, call logs, bookmarks via stock app, as well as any system settings.

Note: All these fixes must be preformed on a stock or stock based rom with epst support and make sure you are in a known good signal area

So I should not be running these from my Jelly-Bam ROM? Or is that OK? If not, should I run an RUU will holding down volume while powering on and doing a factory reset work?
Thanks so much for your help!

As long as you have epst support you are fine. Just try one of the codes... If it works your golden.

I guess if it tries to dial and says "The feature code you have entered is invalid" or something like that, I'm not golden...

Yeah, I didn't dial. But when I hit the last #, what I entered before goes away and nothing happens.
Will these changes stick through a new ROM update? I guess I'll try them on the last stock save I have and then try to restore my MeanBean ROM (the last ROM I had that worked with 4G...Jelly-BAM seems to be what broke it.).

Yes these will stick through Rom updates. I know epst works on meanbean, viper, operation jellybean, and the sense 5 port from my personal experience.

I switched over to T-Mobile last week. Picked up an HTC One and absolutely love the phone. Except for one thing. No matter what I do, I cannot get any device to connect to it's hot spot. I am on my second phone and this phone has the same issue. I also just got off the phone with T-Mobile support and was told I was speaking with their highest level of Tech Support. Ultimately the guy said you have already trouble shooted everything I would have you do so I'm not sure what else to do.
Here is exactly what is happening. I get one of two errors.
Error 1 - Authentication Error
Error 2 - Signal is too weak to connect to network. However, my phone is testing at 9mbps on speedtest
The other odd thing is that I just tried to dload a 28mb app and it took 47min via the play store even though I tested at 9mbps.
Any suggestions?
I have now tried to connect 5 devices, unsuccessfully.

It would be helpful to know what kind of troubleshooting you've already worked through. Without knowing that, I'll suggest the first thing that comes to mind.
For the authentication error, have you tried completely clearing and re-typing the SSID and WPA key in the One's Hotspot Config screen? Perhaps there's an extra space or something at the end of the network name or password that isn't visible. I've done that myself a time or two. Then delete the network association on the other devices and try to re-join them.
As for the 9mb download speed, that's actually pretty good for HSPA, though a bit slow for LTE. I usually get 7-9mbps on HSPA and about 20-25mbps on LTE.
I'm In a "4G" market, not LTE so that's why the speeds are as they are. And yes, I have renamed the network several times. I've tried it on WPA2, WPA, WEP and also no security. I've changed the password too.
I also tried to connect via bluetooth. I was really surprised that the T-Mobile "highest level of support had no further suggestions".

In the Hotspot settings, at the bottom there's a Manage Users, tap on it and check if you have Allowed Users Only selected.
Yes I have done that... I've tried it both ways. I've even changed the password and the name of the network. I have also noticed that my notification bar icon will turn pink and say "connected" even though the other device is not connected.

If you have root then try using a third party app like "wifi tether"

What does the data plan say you have used so far?
Issue resolved... Not sure which one worked but I did 2 things. First I "reset" the hotshot app. Second I used my IMEI as my password and suddenly it works flawlessly.
