what should I buy and there is a big jump in performance??
I recommend you to wait for some time untill other tablets quad core processors are released and their comparison . asus tablets have allot of porblems in rooting and hardware defects also the prime may have quad core but i can't gurantee its quality , so wait
If you can wait, then wait. I've heard bad things about ASUS but I'm not a pro.
I have the Asus Transformer and have to admit it is better then the SGT 10.1, but I will let you make your own opinion. It has the micro sd card slot which makes rooting and custom rom installation much easier. Asus are know for their motherboard after all Asus is a computer company. I personally will be getting one when it comes out. Go to the Asus TF forum and check it out
I'm not sure is Asus has cleaned up their act but I went through 5 or so Transformers when they first came out and everyone of them ended up with light bleeding on the screen.
I'm on my one and only Galaxy Tab 10.1 and I haven't had a single problem. Throw Task650's latest ROM on a Galaxy Tab and you will be taken care of.
Not to mention I'm sure there are plenty of Ice Cream Sandwich builds being worked on.
I'm not sold on the quad-core yet. The iPad runs smoothly on less HW than the GT. I think Android will get there.
I used to have TF but i switched to GT, and have not been disappointed, i think GT is much better, but maybe you should hit a store and try them both out. Just remember that TF prime dosent have 3G.
yes asus transformer have problems root with last hw version
i will suggest wait for samsung's 2nd gen tablets with tegra 3.. i m playing with my 10.1 now while waiting for that..
I'd suggest that you WAIT! don't jump the gun on an extremely NEW Tech, give it some time to settle, and to see if its actually Ok!
Just an advice!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
My first tablet was the transformer TF101 but it suffered with build quality issues, so replaced it for a Galaxy Tab and haven't looked back.
I'm interested to see how the Prime performs but am suspicious of battery claims. I wouldn't buy unless the price was £349 or under and that goes for all android tablets - they are too expensive (but did pay £399 for SGT )
same here. i went through 4 faulty tf's. one was separating at the lower left corner after week, the second had tons of bleed, the third had bleed and started separating at the upper right corner, and the last one had bad bleed.
all 4 had the speaker balance issue too.
i like the new prime on paper, but asus left a bad taste with my first tablet with them.
I've had both and like the Galaxy Tab better. Had quality control issues with the Transformer and had to pay freaking shipping on a screen issue which was clearly not my fault to get it replaced. I'm now very skeptical on any tablets Asus releases from now on.
ordered one, tomorrow I will receive it
it will be my first android tab ,I wish there will be no issue
thanks

You see! ASUS will remain ASUS, they for sure has some stretch and their own innovations, but they actually keep forgetting a bit 'bout Quality Control, this might change in the near future, but till then, the Hardware just does not look as clean and QC'ed when compared to SGT 10.1 - at least - .
Then again, Who ever have guessed 8 years ago that SAMSUNG will be as it is today? it was literally a cheap brand like ... / ... / ... but look at it today, Big boys back then were Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Toshiba, etc.
OOpppps, almost forgot HP iPAQ (1999)! with Windows Pocket PC 2000 or was it 1999? I remember later that I upgraded it to Pocket PC 2002.
We are now going through a high-pace-technologies Race, never seen before, that's how I see it, and that's how I feel bout it too. We Win!
Not sure about everyone else but I'm into the do not jump onto the extremely new tech if you're just to enjoy the Tablet experience.
Will be getting my GT soon. Was considering TF Prime but now going against it due to the support an obvious quality issues that comes with it as GT is probably more "seasoned" by now with enough supporting ROMs
I had a ASUS Transformer, keyboard and all and I sold it for the Galaxy Tab. I'm liking the G Tab a lot more. However, I do miss the micro sd card slot I had on my Transformer. Easy upgrade to 48gigs of storage.
But if you're looking to just buy one now, I agree with a few other people in the thread. Hold off. There is a beautiful horizon of Terga 3 that looks mystical.
i was thinking of getting the prime due known reasons then learned it will not have 3g for another 5-6 months. i just said eeeh get the samsung and change it when prime 3g comes out. god knows what will be released from samsung when 3g prime comes out

wow, forgot about those. my first ppc was casio caiopeia(sp?). after that i got a toshiba something with some kind of 800mHz processor and a full color screen! and to think those cost just as much as tablets today!
i'm so tempted to get a prime just, but i think i'll wait a month or two for the initial tally on qc. plus that'll give time for the second batch to come out. last year i had to place orders with 3 companies to make sure i got 1 tf because of the demand.
if going by tegra 2 build quality among the makers, i do think i'll wait for a samsung also.
I won't bash Asus, from the reviews I've seen the Prime looks sweet, that screen sounds amazing.. BUT... at least one reviewer talked about a flaw that was also present on the Transformer.. the edges of the Prime are not smooth & gently curved like the Galaxy Tab & it isn't as comfortable in the hands.
I loved my Transformer, till I started using it to read in bed & it was practically cutting into my hands.. for $500 I want a device I can hold for a couple hours while I'm reading. I'll probably still get one but I'm in no rush to pre-order. I'm actually really happy with the GTab, it suits my needs quite nicely.

Do you mind to share why you are thinking of upgrading or replacing?
I am a very satisfied user of the GT10.1 - there is no need to rush for upgrades or replacement now.
Maybe next year with ICS and Quad-Core CPU's there will be some reason to upgrade.
I would recommend to you to sit down and enjoy your GT10.1 until a significantly better and more powerful tablet becomes available.
There is no better option today - simple as that!
If you don't like some minor lags and bugs present on Honeycomb, you can try the iPad2. I tried and gave up - I really don't adapt to Apple's limited iOS, I like the freedom to customize and play with the OS - and only Android can give me that.
And looking on other Android tablets, I went for the GT10.1 because of its weight and thickness - which was important to me, because my primary use is for ebook handheld reading.
My sincere advice - enjoy your tablet and wait for mid-2012 - there will be plenty of new options by then!

Man I couldn't have said it any better myself!!!
I'm with you m8, I think most people who post asking when the next os update is coming out or what the next device your going to upgrade to are really missing out. Instead of worrying about all that... Just enjoy.
And in my honest opinion the GT10. 1 is on the top of the heap right now... I had an Xoom for a week, took it back. I have a EVO View 4G that I use for work and my Tab knocks both of them out of the water.
Sent from my Galaxy10.1 TouchWiz/ADWex equipped Starship.
Instead of replacing I like to have more than one. I was tempted by Sony S1 but held myself from buying it. (Just for PSX games. But no HDMI on board.) I had a Transformer for a week. I have a GTAB 7 which I rarely use now. I love 10.1, but I miss the sim, and sd slots there. USB adapter is not the best solution. I really dont care how thin or light it is. My next tablet will not be a Samsung this time. I am really tired of waiting for them to update the firmware. I did manual update for Gtab7. S1 is getting 3.2 update now. Xoom and others too. I think I will wait this time for a quad core.... and I am very tempted for a windows 8 slate, but market and battery issues with W8 is a question mark.
I am in the camp of loving my tab. I don't even think about other tablets. I picked mine up on launch day in the u.s. and in the 3 months that I have had it we received the touchwiz update. With word of ICS coming this fall I see no reason for Samsung to spend any resources on honeycomb 3.2, really what is the point to spending all those development resources on 3.2 when everybody will be moving to ICS?
You also have to wonder just how much improvement the new processors will affect what tablets can do. You will hear people say that newer tablets can do this or that but if you look at how technology evolves, the improvement comes in steps, not giant leaps. I personally am not going to drop $500 plus on a new tablet and accessories every year, although Best Buy would love that. Did you buy a new desktop computer every year? This doesn't just pertain to android either, other than weight and a crappy camera, what does the ipad 2 do that the first can't?
I bet in one year in the transformer 2 or xoom 2 forums there will be a thread that reads, "was upgrading really worth it?" Or "why is there only a handful of apps that utilize the quad core?"
I also understand that there are people who absolutely have to have the newest tech and play around with it. Like a hobby. But then there are also others who just never will be satisfied with what they have.
Personally I think I will wait and upgrade every two years like my phones so that you can see marked improvement and give time for developers to increase the amount of content that is compatible with newer devices. Sure I can want more ports and not just a 30 pin connector but I knew this when I bought the tab, so I can't really complain about it. Long story short- I use my tab every day, getting my moneys worth, see you in two years on another forum.

Depending on how the Next gen honeycomb tablets bring to the gameboard i might just wait it out for a ipad 3... personally i own a galaxy tab 10.1 atm its really good serves all my needs except for hdmi output...
I am eagerly awaiting the HP Touchpad 2.
More seriously, I just dropped several hundred on the Samsung 10.1 a few months ago so why bother with crippling my enjoyment by worrying about obsolescence? There will no doubt be something newer and better soon enough, but I doubt it will be able to do anything more other than this one and feature only incremental improvements.
The Windows 8 Tablets will suck for home use unless they actually relase an ARM version of that OS. I wouldn't want to cuddle up on the couch with a tablet that had a cooling fan.
Lookout for the iPad 3,though. It just might be slick enough to excuse Apple's restrictions.

If I had the cash to toss around I would seriously be looking at the Toshiba Excite that's about to come out. Don't know too much about specs but it has on board microUSB, USB, and a microSD card slot, on a surprisingly thin body. That would be pretty cool.
xoom2 for me, i've had the xoom but took it back and now i have the sgt 10.1. It has been stated that a quad core ics tablet will be out before christmas so i will probably take back this sgt and wait for that.
Hi guys, i bought a 32 gb tab 10.1 about a month ago for $650, today im being offered $500 for it, and the transformer prime is 499... should i sell it? and pre-order the prime?
I know the prime hasn't been released yet, but do you guys think i should sell and get that, for essentially the same price? are the specs on the prime worth it? or should i wait it out with the tab 10.1 till next year for something better?
HELP!!
Heck yeah. Do it before our tab is worth a lot less. I like Samsung and would like to stick with them but the transformer prime is one heck of a tablet. Even right now you could probably only sell yours for 450$ or so on eBay minus all the fees.
I would just have a hard time being without a tablet for very long...
I would personally wait for reviews and user feedback after the tablet gets released. It would be a long shot if you sold it and waited for more quad-core tablets to come out later.
I would wait... Especially it being the first quad core tablet... I'm sure Sammy will be coming out with theirs pretty soon and it'll blow Asus out of the water. Plus there will be things that Asus misses and other manufactures will throw on their own devices.

Yep - I am waiting on the second round of Kal-el tablets before jumping on the bandwagon. I love my Tab so far and it fills all the needs I currently have.
I'd wait for Sammy to bring out their next generation tablets as well. Asus is a Chinese/Taiwanese company = can't trust their manufacturing, although Asus is known to be highly reliable in the laptop market.

Every other second-gen tablet announced has 2GB of RAM and a higher res display (1920 x 1152) which is going to become the new standard for high-end tablets. Also Nvidia sucked comparitively in dual-core so unless something's changed quad-core chips already announced from Qualcomm and TI will probably be faster/better. You may lose a little on your Tab by waiting a couple of months but in the long run you'll probably be better off. All the buzz about the Prime is just because it's first out. I think a lot of people buying it will regret it in the long run.
Am currently tossing between getting a tab now or wait for Asus prime. Spec looks awesome but not so sure about its quality and devs..
Just wondering what the tablet demographics of the people buying the prime are.
I don't have a tablet so this will be my first one! Was initially going to get the original but with the craziness at launch I just didn't have the time and effort to get one so I ended up buying a sweet BBQ instead.
never made a poll here before so hopefully i get it right..
edit. well that was easy!
I bought a G Tablet in November last year and had it for a couple of months. It was OK, ran well, but it was clunky and the screen sucked. I was also really disappointed at the lack of HDMI output. I don't think I'll be let down by this sleek beauty.
This'll most likely be my first tablet.
I'm playing the waiting game, to see how the first production batch works out, then I'll probably pick one up.
I've waited this long because I believe that Android really needs the power of a quad-core behind it, to really shine on a tablet implementation.
I have the Transformer, wich is my first and only tablet. I'm loving it, especialy for the dock and the overall expérience, the support from Asus and the enthousiasm from the community.
But It's not perfect, just like the first ipad, iPhone, Nexus one and every first génération of a great product.
So I'm going to buy the Prime cause I think it's a big leap forward, then sell my dear Transformer to someone else (maybe for chrismass if I get the Prime before).

I'm interested in getting the Transformer Prime (not that they're even up for preorder here yet), but I've never had a tablet before. I'm not sure where a tablet would fit into my life, but with the dock it becomes an Android netbook with a tablet option, which seems like a much more viable PC companion to me.
Currently own TF1 and pre-ordered TF2. TF1 was my first real tablet. Before that I had 7" Galaxy Tab but did not use it much. I also own Ipad 2, which I have only used once and did not like it. On the other hand I love the TF1 specially due to the dock and the convenience of use. One thing that it lacked (for me at least) was the support of high def movie playback and now that Tegra 3 has fixed the issue, it is definitely worth getting.
This will be my first tablet. Was going to buy the TF in the late summer and decided to wait for the Prime.
I have a Motorola Xoom & I will bepicking this baby up pronto lol..here's some vids i saw today...

I am buying mine because it looks like a fancy toy that I can spend some time on.
I'm overall new to tablets but the Prime looks like one great device I can't pass up. The dock brings a full qwerty keyboard, extra battery and the usb port witch makes it more then a big phone (imo). It also gives me something to do when my girl friend plays the Sims
This will be my fourth tablet. First was a Dell Streak, Viewsonic G Tablet, and Motorola Xoom.

I have an OG ipad, TF101 and will be getting the TFP. I rarely use the ipad anymore and my wife just got an ipad2 yesterday.
Love the OG transformer. Other than the initial dock battery issue I love this it. Its great for everyday use and has given me almost every reason to not have a netbook anymore. When I'm on the road all i need is something to browse XDA and techblogs mostly and pounding out a few emails here and there.
With the TFP I'm really hoping that the gaming market will increase. I have all the consoles at home but last time i really logged into my ps3 was about 5 months ago. I dont have too much time to game anymore but i love the fact that i can pick up my tablet and practically leave off where i ended last time. I'm just hoping for more games.
This will be my first tablet. I've been drooling over the first transformer (I want a mobile device for media, a bit of note-taking, and fun), but I had to get the money. By the time I got it the prime was due to come out... So i waited !
Kindle fire was/is my first tab.
I wanna get the tp. But I got Christmass for a family to deal with

This will be my first tablet. I've been waiting the market out for a while as well as the release of the one Android OS to rule them all - ICS.
What will be interesting is that my wife has an iPad2 so I'll have the opportunity to contrast and compare first hand.
This will be my first tablet. iPad just didn't do it for me.
I have a SmartQ T10 which I bought for roughly 150pounds after exchange when I was in China for business.
It was a test that to see if I have any use of a tablet, looks like I will need one for many years to come.
I currently have a ViewSonic gTablet, rooted and running Honeycomb 3.0. It is a good low-cost yet quite capable tablet, but the viewing angle limitations on the screen and lack of ongoing support from ViewSonic are cause for me to consider another tablet.
Looking forward to the Prime!
This is my third tablet, having initially bought an Advent Vega (to test out if I would even have a need for a tablet) which was then followed by a first generation transformer. My wife will be getting my transformer to replace her iPad which she sold. While undoubtedly the latter is a more slick device, it was ultimately too limiting for her (coming from her laptop with its higher resolution display therefore involving less scrolling and due to the lack of flash which she needed mostly to display products on some of the shopping sites she frequents). She wasn't that keen on Android at first because it felt 'too different' but I think she's come around to the flexibility.

Oops. Can I change my vote? lol I forgot I had a rooted Nook Color. No need to change though as this will be my first real tablet that was meant to be a tablet.
After being pissed at the delays of the Prime back in December (mostly with the retailer I purchased it from), I decided to cancel my Nov 22 pre-order. Reading some of the negative comments about the Prime from new owners here, I decided to pick up the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. However, even with the negativity being displayed at XDA I still longed to try out the TFP. What can I say, I'm a sucker for specs!
I love the SGT 10.1...even with the current stock ROM. Plan to change ROMs if I ultimately decide to keep it. I have a few days left to return for a full refund.
Just this morning, I found a Prime in stock in my city and will be picking it up later today. This will give me a chance to compare the two side by side and determine which one I will keep. If the Prime shows up with any defects at all (minus the GPS which is a known defect), that will make my decision fairly simple. I'm probably going to be overly picky while scrutinizing this device considering what I've read on this forum. If both feel just as good as one another, I will probably decide to keep the Prime.
My only gripe so far with the Galaxy Tab is that it's just not NEW technology. I wonder how much development can continue for that H/W. Whereas, the tegra3 development still needs to be born...but my assumption is that it will.
I will update with my thoughts.
As I'm sure the SG tab is a swell device, There is no comparison To The Prime.
That's like comparing a mustang to a Lamborghini Don't be fooled by some of the negative reviews. There were plenty like you who doubted. Then they took the plunge and never looked back since. They said they were glad they didn't let the negative comments from some persuade them. Plus only with the Prime will you get Free Ice Cream..lol Now what other tab is giving away free Ice Cream Sandwiches?
Instead, read the positive reviews, which FAR OUTWEIGH the negative ones.
Once you try the TFP with ICS I'm confident you will be returning the Gtab. TFP is by far the best tab experience I've had after trying most.

I know from many other forums that I frequent that negative comments (on just about any topic) are always SCREAMED much more loudly than anything positive. People rush to the internet to bring up the problems they are experiencing. Misery loves company???
The problem with reading the positive comments are the so-called fanboys that wear rose-coloured glasses. They will forgive just about any defect they see...or, they will not report on it and quietly seek to resolve their own issues while continuing to pump up the product.
Either way, it's really hard to determine from sites like this if problems really are rampant with a particular device (no doubt they do exist for some, though). A small vocal minority can make a huge difference in people's perception on how wide-spread these issues really are.
I am more than happy to have the opportunity to have both in hand and give them "my" real world test.

very good point and its Fair. The issues some people are having are very real. no denying that. I think the worst I've seen was people who experiencing screen banding issues. I saw some pics and it looks horrible. but as with any other issue, these are in very small numbers. Getting a prime now will more than likely be out of a new batch with the hardware updated that addresses BT/wifi issues n such. Still metal back though. Good Luck on your comparisons. I'm sure you will find the more stock Ice Cream Sandwich experience to be alot smoother n faster than the Galaxy with Touchwiz slapped over the OS. The Galaxy is a real nice device. But at the price point of Prime, the specs, and Performance, it can't be beat now. And the display is just lovely..lol. Report back on your findings.
The Gtab is quite nice, my brother has one and brought it over. I was able to play with the Gtab and the Prime at the same time. To me, the differences were more in the look and feel (I much prefer the Prime, but they are pretty close in size), I didn't get a chance to run any games or anything. However, this was before the ics upgrade which is definitely a game changer. For the same, or similar price, to me it is Prime all the way. Have fun comparing!
I sold my Galaxy Tab to buy my TFP which comes today (i hope), I got almost enough $$ from it to buy the TFP which to me was a no brainer given the improvement in specs, seemed like a good time to upgrade before getting stuck with old technology when the quad cores start flooding the market.
DAMN!
My order was cancelled saying that there were now none in stock. Guess I was a little late in the queue of orders.
Then...I saw it available at another location and promptly ordered...same thing happened again.
Well...I will keep trying until my refund date arrives....if not, the Galaxy Tab is the one for me. I`m going to continue looking for one in the next few days....really hoping to try one, though.
The prime might have ICS, but the galaxy is supposed to get cm9 by the end of the month. I would rather have cm9 over stock ICS. That being said, I sold my galaxy tab for the prime.
My wife has Sgt 10.1. They're just different. We both agree the Touchwiz has got to go. Other than that, if you don't want quad core and prefer the rather delicate plastic back of the sgt, keep it. Ps tf dock > sgt dock.
My wife has a GT 10.1, and when I was using my original Transformer I admit to being a bit jealous. The GT 10.1 has a markedly better screen than the TF101, is much thinner and lighter, and had some simple things that Samsung added that made it a bit nicer, like search in the stock email app.
The Prime, however, killed my envy. It feels more solid than the GT 10.1, is just as thin/light, is of course faster, and the screens are pretty close in normal lighting. However, take the two outside and turn on the Super IPS+ mode on the Prime, and there's no contest. The GT 10.1 is pretty much unusable in direct sunlight (like pretty much all other tablets), while the Prime is perfectly usable, even comfortable. Also, ASUS added in some of those nice missing features, like search in the stock email app.
So, while I'd say the GT 10.1 is the best tablet other than the Prime, the Prime is the better device.
Note: One thing that's certainly heads and shoulders better on the GT 10.1 is GPS. It locks on instantly, and maintains a lock well. It can easily be used as a navigation device using an app with local maps. Huge win here.

Well once bootloader is unlocked I'm sure we will be seeing cm9 soon enough. We have great Devs and are very quick at turnaround time. I to had Galaxy tab 10.1 16gb version. Returned it for the Prime. It's a good tablet but doesn't compare to the Prime. My wife though has the GT 10.1 and she loves it.

I sold my GT 10.1 to get the Prime, which I have had for about 10 days now. The difference is like night and day. The GT 10.1 is so sluggish in comparison. The Prime is light, glam, the screen is amazing, ICS is brilliant, and the dock just adds a whole new dimension! Never looked back!
So, I want a tablet. I bought my wife a nook color, but by then, my phone was already superior to it. I bought her an iPad 2, she loves it. It is pretty sweet. My 5 year old thought all tablets were nooks, now she calls them all iPads, she says,"what's a tablet?" I tell her it's a portable device that does everything a NetBook does but not as well. Enter the Transformer Prime. I've read the spec sheets, I've read the reviews, and I've read many of the threads here. I still believe, its the nicest Android tablet on the market today. I think the keyboard dock is just the absolute s#it, and for the most part, it seems like everyone that has one is ready to jump ship. But to where? The Transformer Prime S (T301)? I guess after owning a Tegra 2 phone, and feeling ready to upgrade at Christmas, I wonder if this summer won't hold other options. The Tegra 3 uses an A9 cortex, a dated architecture, the Galaxy Tab is due for a new rendition, Jelly Bean will be out soon, and many other factors make me wonder, is this a bad time to buy a Transformer Prime? So I'm asking those who own one, what are you looking at? If you needed to/could afford/whatever other hypothetical/ a second tablet (or 3rd or 4th, whatever) today, what would you get?

You should wait for prime infinity. It seems to be better with the krait.... but if you want raw power go for the tegra 3. I have the 1 with t3 and its fantastic..
Sent from my Samsung GNexus <3
Also the tf700(infinity) has better gps and wifi connection .. you should wait a few weeks to see how things play out... but if you want a tablet right now tf201 is your best option

If money doesnt and some time dont matter wait for the Infinity Tab. Its the next best thing, but who knows when its actually available.
If money and time do matter there is nothing better than the prime. Its seriously awesome. Its the best package there is, combination of everything for the smallest price possible. So I'd say go for it. I'd never buy a tablet without a dock. There are sooo many times where i think ah just plug it in. And if its only when im lying on the couch to use it as a stand
You'll always be chasing technology if you sit & wait for what's just around the corner. The Prime is great. Buy one, use it & enjoy it now. Or wait for the better tegra 4/5/6/7/8, ipad 4/5/6 that'll be here tomorrow

I own the Prime and I'm very happy with it, keyboard included, will buy the 700 when the T43 chip from Nvidia is out somewhere next year (Q3?) Tegra 4 at 2.0GHz sounds very sweet indeed.
Maybe you should wait? Or maybe buy the mighty Prime meanwhile?
Decide wisely!

Ain't that the truth. I've been chasing technology in the form of building my own PC's for years. If you wait you'll never get anything. You just gotta do it if it feels right.
BTW the Prime is a beast.

Don't be a ****. Also, the iPad will always be behind hardware wise I mean look at the iPad 3, I only wait for the next one so I can by the previous one (my wife likes apple, and my kids probably will too).

Its true, but let's face it, you can upgrade your PC, if you build it right. A tablet, is more like a laptop you buy it and it looks pretty much the way its always gonna look.

The wifi-only version will have Tegra 3, the 4G version will have the S4.
Right, because Tegra doesn't support LTE...The benchmarks I've seen show the S4 out performing the Tegra even with only 2 cores, but rendering graphics is still better given the Tegra's better GPU. So, anyone know anything from the Samsung camp tablet-wise?

No, he might want a prime, but he's not certain, and is asking for opinions to help him come to a decision.

No. I totally want the prime, what I don't want is buyers' remorse. But I really just wanted a discussion with owners, how they are feeling on the eve of their purchase becoming "outdated".

outdated? maybe on someone else's terms/point of view.
my prime is better than some machines i use at my place, and they still work as they are intended too. meaning, just get the device if you like it. devices are all becoming more powerful, it's an always-accelerating process until it hits a wall that's too high to jump.. like it happened to desktops. we had to use more cores. one core cpus evolution stopped @P4/Athlon. same with mobile devices. we're using more cores. chips are getting smaller yes, and that allows for... more cores.
now i think ok, so i've got enough power on a tablet..how about linux on a tablet? for that i would need a keyboard. waaaait.. asus transformer prime, powerful specs+dock/qwerty kb+touchpad.. with an "2" batteries.. got to get my hands on that!
edit: of course, i also read the threads around here before buying it, but i thought that i should just go for it, because i liked the device. plus, nvidia has been a good supporter for linux software, but i won't go into further details into that (the nvidia relation with linux os on the desktops). the first i got the tablet didn't charge, dock was fine. returned it, got a new one. wifi seemed nice (5/10 dBm less than my nexus prime ), gps too (13 locks/14in view on my balcony, inside the house forget it), so i kept it.
so i did and never looked back. now, i've got to, my display has light-bleed issue, but hey, i've kept it more than 15days untouched , the issue appeared, i'm entitled by warranty terms to have my device repaired. if they cannot, i'll will ask for a replacement. if not available, a refund.
i love it.

I bought the Prime cause I wanted a device that would last at least 5 years. And from what I had seen about the specs the prime fit the bill. Down side is all the problems poor wifi unstable browser Bluetooth unstable if using wifi. But even so out of the box on HC it was awesome until I upgraded to ICS Gps went to **** and wifi started to flake out. Update to .15 killed my TP had to keep it plugged in so the battery would not die sudden restarts the next update fixed the battery drain. Even so when they get the ICS stable it will be a tablet that lasts. With the keyboard station it gets 12 hours battery live for me. I was able to get close to the listed 18 hours but that was with it set up to preserve the battery. Works good for movies but not for games and browsing the web.
So even though it has problems, I would say grab one. Asus has been so far acting in good faith even though at times it may seem otherwise. If you are getting one make sure it is a C3 or C4 serial number avoid the C0,C1,C2 ones due to the problems I have listed and others have posted here.
I picked up my TF201 after looking around for a while and thinking "What is cost-effective, able to play games, do office work, and be a source of entertainment" and there I have the Prime....
Thank you to all who participated, that's all I really wanted, to start a conversation. I learned a lot here, I have decided to and see wait is around the corner. I thank you all for a great and lively discussion.
