i've looked around and they go for around 20 bucks...
overpriced as hell... where can i buy this cable cheap? thinking of buying couple.
Since the connector is proprietary and not a lot of 3rd parties have started making them they can be hard to find. You will have better results if you look for a cable fro the original TF101 Transformer as the cables are the same.
Here is one on eBay for about $13
You should note, that if you are hoping to charge your tablet you will be much better off buying an Asus wall charger since using the cable to charge by USB will take a very long time and won't work while you are using the tablet. Similarly iPhone chargers and similar USB wall adapters will also be very slow and won't work while you are using the tablet.
You can buy additional wall chargers from Office Depot. I have purchased several and they have very fast shipping.
TF101/201 Power Adapter
Hi all,
I am about to do a long trip and I do not want to carry multiple AC adapters. I use the Targus Premium Laptop Charger for a few of my devices. I am wondering if Targus has an adapter for the Prime. I will write to them and ask.
What is the power adapter for the Prime? Does anyone use another adapter for the Prime?
http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=apm69us
Cheers,
Phil
The Prime uses a proprietary power connector that ends in a USB connector, however it needs 15v to charge properly and I don't think any 3rd parties create a power adapter that will properly charge the device. Even iPad chargers don't deliver enough current to charge the Prime at full speed and adapters made for the iPad are your best bet for finding unofficial accessories for the Prime.
In short, if you are traveling and wanna use the Prime, bring the Prime's power adapter.
Thanks. It's small enough but when you're traveling the less you carry the better.
Cheers,
Phil

If you are willing to buy a 2nd one, Office Depot has TF Prime power adapters that have folding prongs which would make it a little bit smaller.

It should be said that you can choose to use the Asus adaptor to charge other "USB" style devices. When I travel, I take the Asus adaptor because I can use it to charge several devices.

Dave

Just an FYI, i bought this one last night at Office Depot and the image on the box shows a folding prong wall adapter. However, the wall adapter inside is exactly the same that came with my Prime. The prongs do not fold down.

Interesting. I purchased 3 of them off the Office Depot website, and all 3 have the folding prongs. I have heard others state that the ones they got didn't have the folding prongs just like the one that comes with the Prime.
I wonder why Asus went to the trouble of making two versions of the same thing, and then selling them in the same packaging...
I'd love to be able to find a small power adapter to carry in my sleeve...

Sorry, but that is very unlikely to happen.
If you don't mind taking 2-3 days to charge your Prime, you could find a small 5v USB outlet adapter that would be more portable, but nothing that will charge the Prime is a usefully short period of time is likely to be much smaller than the stock wall charger.

Well, then sir, I guess I'll half to just update my sleeve!
I don't think it's too off topic but what are the best sleeve solutions for the dock, tablet, and, relevant to this thread, the wall charger?

I like the Swissgear Lunar 10" net book case for carrying around my Prime while docked. It is very sturdy and has a decent sized pocket that can hold the charger. There are some pics of it in the ultimate accessory guide thread.
However unless you are traveling for an extended period of time, you might not need to carry the charger with you. I get 3 or 4 days of moderate usage out of the Prime, and even on occasions where I am constantly watching movies I haven't gotten less than 6 hours of battery life out of the tablet between charges. 12 or 13 hours if the tablet is in its dock.
Unless you are gonna be away from home for a few days you may not need to bring a charger with you.
Where to buy the OEM charging cable for Note 2?
How can you tell if the cable is capable of 2 Amp current?
Here's an OEM charger and cable on Amazon, probably find them on ebay too.

Its the charger that needs to be 2A capable, rather than the cable. Any decent USB cable should do.
I ordered this one, supposed to be here Monday, will let you know how it does.

Charger showed up yesterday, according to battery monitor widget. It's putting out as much power as the original. It is a knockoff brand though, the printing on the charger doesn't match the original, all the text is the same, but it's a different size/color. If it continues to work as it does now I'll be happy with the purchase.

I am looking for a Charging and Sync cable for my TF101. The one that comes with the unit is only a meter or so, and charging does not appear to work with a normal USB extension. I would also like a spare cable or two as I am finding I use the TF101 a lot more since I upgraded the ROM etc.
So, can someone recommend a cable available in the US. Amazon and Newegg seem to have some but with no reviews or ratings.
Thanks!
Personally I bought all of them I've went through (I have puppies regularly that chew and I always forget to pick up my cables) off of Ebay. I believe you can use a USB3.0 extension cable and it will charge although I cannot confirm it.

I've been using usb 3.0 cables since a year ago as extensions. Works fine just. Make sure you get version 3 cables since the additional wires compared to the older 1.0 or 2.0 standard are needed to trigger the power adapter into sending out the 15V high power charging voltage.

Plain USB3 cable won't charge it, you need their adapter. The extensions will work fine as long as it's connected to 15V (standard USB3 is less than 5V). You can find cheap working ones on ebay or online stores like Monoprice. For charger cables and chargers, look on ebay for "tf101 charger" and you'll find plenty for less than 10$.
Thanks for all the responses. I will order a few and see how they work. Thanks!

Ordered two 2M cables from NewEgg as well as a power supply and a 40pin to USB adapter. The Cables and PS Wwork fine, but have not yet tested the USB adapter. Will let you all know how that works when I try it. Thanks again!
Would I be able to buy any 30 pin, 3rd party charger for the prime, or should I look for one specifically on ebay or amazon?
The connector has proprietary wiring inside. I bought one on eBay and while it transfers data it will not charge my Prime. The whole reason I bought it was to have a charging cord in the car. Just make sure the cable is OEM.

Thanks, I'll be on the lookout for Asus chargers on ebay
