USB Cables - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

I am looking for a Charging and Sync cable for my TF101. The one that comes with the unit is only a meter or so, and charging does not appear to work with a normal USB extension. I would also like a spare cable or two as I am finding I use the TF101 a lot more since I upgraded the ROM etc.
So, can someone recommend a cable available in the US. Amazon and Newegg seem to have some but with no reviews or ratings.
Thanks!

Personally I bought all of them I've went through (I have puppies regularly that chew and I always forget to pick up my cables) off of Ebay. I believe you can use a USB3.0 extension cable and it will charge although I cannot confirm it.

I've been using usb 3.0 cables since a year ago as extensions. Works fine just. Make sure you get version 3 cables since the additional wires compared to the older 1.0 or 2.0 standard are needed to trigger the power adapter into sending out the 15V high power charging voltage.

Plain USB3 cable won't charge it, you need their adapter. The extensions will work fine as long as it's connected to 15V (standard USB3 is less than 5V). You can find cheap working ones on ebay or online stores like Monoprice. For charger cables and chargers, look on ebay for "tf101 charger" and you'll find plenty for less than 10$.

Thanks for all the responses. I will order a few and see how they work. Thanks!

Ordered two 2M cables from NewEgg as well as a power supply and a 40pin to USB adapter. The Cables and PS Wwork fine, but have not yet tested the USB adapter. Will let you all know how that works when I try it. Thanks again!

Charging cable too short: any solution?

Hi,
Where I charge my TF300T, the cable is too short... and when I plug a usb cable extension, no charge. A friend tell me it's possible that if I want to extend the cable, I need a USB3.0 extension...
So? What cable I need to extend the lenght of the charging cable?
Thanks!
Same. Tried multiple extention cables (though no specific USB 3.0 extenders) and no dice. It will not charge, even though other devices charge flawlessly even when I plug them into a USB extention cable (iPhone, Samsung Galaxy's, PS3 controllers, camera's, etc.)
However, the Power output of the AC adaptor for the TF300 is either 5V - 2A, or 15V - 1.2A (in contrast to the power requirements of the above mentioned devices, which are tailored to comply with USB 2.0 standards). Default power draw on USB 2.0 on Battery Charging Spec 1.1 is 100mA (1A), so that would definitely seem to be the problem. I however haven't yet had the opportunity to test a USB 3.0 extention cable, but I would assume these would do the trick, since USB 3.0 (or Battery Charging Specification 1.2) should be able to go up to 1.5A with a 5A max draw.
This thread for the TF101 shows why USB 2 extension cables don't work, and how to mod one to make it work.
A USB 3 extension cable would work too.
Consider getting the usb cable extender
Sent from my Galaxy Note or from my Transformer TF300T
I have used the Monoprice USB 3.0 cable extender mentioned in the thread for the TF101.
I also bought an after market longer cable from Amazon that works great. Link here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007EIZ9B6/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00
i can confirm that the blue monoprice usb 3.0 extension works perfectly. i originally got it for my tf101 and am glad that its still useable on my tf300.
Here is a solution...
http://www.amazon.com/PWR-Charging-...36150&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+tf300+charge+cable
Just got this one on Ebay. Looks good and the price wasn't bad at all.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320954533106?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648
if you are just looking to wall charge it, get an extension cord at the dollar store
thats what i use
extention cord will be best.
thanks for the links. have been wondering about cable length and didn't want to add another cord to plug into the wall.
does the cable change when plugged into a PC? wife took off with laptop and didn't notice when I rooted.

Did you mean me does it charge? If so then the answer is yes but not fast. It is pretty much a trickle charge when plugged in to a PC. A pc does not put out a large enough charge via USB for the tf300 to charge properly. It would take forever for the tablet to charge.
You need a 15v plug like the one that comes stock with the Transformer.
Pretty much the only thing the USB cable is good for with a pc is to transfer data.

Hey,
I had this similar problem with my asus TF300T, I used to have a cable +-1.5m long or longer, then I had to send it back for repair.
Couple of days later I received a new charging cable, though it was 1.30m long or less. Which is very uncomfortable when using the tablet at the same time as it is charging. So I phoned Asus Support. They told me that it is indeed possible that some tablets are sold with a smaller cable. These are most likely the newer ones.
I asked if I could send back the shorter cable (which was broken upon delivery) and receive a longer one as the one I used to own.
They told me that Asus has stopped making cables any longer then 1.30m. Though costumer service had no clue why.
They suggested me to send the cable back and to include a note in the package that I used to have a longer cable and I would like to have a similar one back. Of course I was very polite etc, and it worked!
So as Asus' costumer service says : "Asus themselves owns very few longer cables, they don't produce the longer ones anymore and moved to a shorter standard cable. Only if you are lucky you can get your hands on an older long cable".
Of course this doesn't stop you from looking for other third party cables.

[Q] Note 3 charging/data cables.

I'm switching from iPhone to the note 3. As a result, I will need to replace all of my chargers. I would like to order about 6 chargers and I want them to be a little longer than normal because I would constantly get fed up with the short apple cable. The new chargers should be the correct voltages for the Note. I would prefer the cable to be detachable from the power supply. Is there a goto charger that you guys use? Thanks!
Gotta see what voltage the note3 will carry. Also do you want all the cables to be the Micro USB 3.0 or 2.0?

Well from what I've read, USB 2.0 will charge just as fast from a wall outlet. I will just use the one USB 3.0 that comes with phone for my computer. So I will primarily be using these from a wall charger so I'll go with whichever one is cheaper.
You can also just goto Amazon.com and look for microUSB 3.0 cables and find plenty of them since its an industry standard and you don't have to pay $29 for a cable like apple rips their isheep off with.

Just a tip-- When I had my Note 2, I purchased extra USB cords from E-Bay. It might not hurt to check Samsung's website and look at the product name/ID for their OEM items, and then just get a few of those off E-Bay or Amazon. the native Samsung A/C Adapter with the powerful amps makes a huge difference too. and you can almost always get it for under $10.

I'm not 100% on this but from what I have gathered it has the wireless charging pins but you would have to buy the Samsung wireless charging back plate for it similar to the S4.

Not sure where your from...but if you have a 5 below store you can buy chargers, cables, cases for your note for $5 or less....I bought them for the note 2 and all worked without issue...
Theres no point for usb 3 cables, they only add data pins. BUT if you plug into a real usb 3 port/computer, the phone MAY tell it to send higher wattage.

And help would be great, I'm from the UK so shipping must include that.

Here's one from Amazon US that is 9 feet, http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-USB-Cable-Micro-Meters/dp/B00B7WGH48/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1381072931&sr=8-4&keywords=USB+3.0+Cable
Also, you can use your micro usb chargers, just plug it into the bigger side of the usb 3 socket. It won't be long before we all have a bunch of usb 3 cables lying around though, as more hard drives and stuff come with them.
Oh wow so that's why the new port looks that way, backwards compatibility!! Nice oh problem solved, I still need a longer cable as my usb3 socket is a bit awkward to get to on my PC, so I wil look at the suggested weblink and see what happens,
Thanks dudes

anyone know if this is like the note 1, where you use a non-samsung cable, the charging voltage was reduced? there was some command to run in a terminal window that showed charge current. i don't recall.
i don't know if that's what did it, but at some point my note1's battery got ruined..where i couldn't get more than 10 minutes off the charger without a forced reboot. and all sorts of weirdness.

I've used non OEM cables and wall plugs, and it charges the same.
USB 2.0, USB 3.0 doesn't make a difference. OEM, non OEM doesn't make a difference.
OEM puts out at least 2 amps. Alot of other chargers put out much less so it will take longer to charge.

I have a couple cables that work with the AC USB adapter and on my computer..
But they will not work with the 2.1 amp DC usb adapter.
I figured the 2.1 amp would be enough.
What should I be looking for Amp/Watt wise in an adapter...
Thanks

delayed response. the good cable i mentioned would be any charging specific cable where the data pins are shorted to force most phones into ac charging, or any cable with a decent gauge wire in it. i ran into a problem with some really cheap cables that were overheating at the pins due to bad solder joints. The phone showed it was charging but the battery would drop unless the screen was off. It took nearly two days to charge with that cable. The cable didnt feel warm at all, but it had too much resistance to carry the current for the phone.

Portapow make one:
www dot portablepowersupplies dot co dot uk/portapow-20awg-fast-charge-sync-micro-usb-cable/
Not available on there yet, but they are on Amazon US: Search for PortaPow Specialised 3.3ft 20AWG Charge Only Micro USB Cable for Blackberry, or item code B00RL68RNS
(Sorry about the url formatting - I'm too new to be able to post them)
If the Cable does Charge ONLY, then it wont work for QC charging......QC charging requires the cable to have both power and data.....
I've been using mono price premium cables. Turbo charger charges noticeably faster then a standard charger. Never compared vs the stock cable
I have been using these by media bridge. Have had them for a while, before I had my nexus. Works great and nice quality, seems to charge as fast if not faster.

Anker hands down is the best and it has a warranty and customer service to back it. Not all cables are created equal.

I picked up one of the anker ones and i am impressed with its build quality! I cant really tell if it charges at the same rate as the stock cable, but it doesnt feel terribly slow or extremely fast. Im very happy with it though!
I second Anker. I have two 5ft and work just fine with quick charger.
interesting...I always thought that the QC ability came from the wall connector..not the actual cable. I used regular plain jane cables with my QC wall adapter, and they worked just as well as the one that came with the phone...hrmm

It's built into the phone and the charger. The cable has little to do with it. Other than that all of the pins must be connected, no charge-only cables. The device and charger have to agree on the voltage, and they talk over the data pins to do that. That way, the QC chargers don't destroy devices that can't handle the extra voltage. The thicker power wires have a lower voltage drop, which is nice, and very important for non-QC devices. For QC it's less important, but if they are available, get them. I happened to already have the ones I'm using, so I tried them. They work great.
I'm using a 5' cable from amazon (bought a while ago) and a 5' extension cable from an old USB WiFi adapter I think. Quick charge still shows up and charges real fast.

Extended charging cable

Hi
Sorry if this is a repost but I couldn't find answer anywhere.
I am looking to get a 3m cable to charge my Note3, the extension cables I have tried have varied in success, I have 1 that works well and is fast but the wife has claimed it and I can't find where I got it from.
I am happy to use the supplied plug, extension (e meters) and OEM cable or the supplied plug and a complete USB to USB 3.0 micro B cable (3meters). Does anyone know of a tried an tested 3 meter cable that offers a good charging time?
Also, does the USB 3 micro B cable charge faster than a standard USB to micro USB cable? I know the transfer rate is quicker just not sure if the charge/power rate is better?
Any help appreciated.

The charging rate is the same. The difference is in the carrying capacity of the cable (the cable rating). If the port you're using can output enough Amps to make charging faster (the stock wall charger is 2.1 Amp), you also need a good cable to go along. The cable that comes with the phone is able to sustain 2A charging rates. But if you're buying a 3rd party cable, check the Amp rating. USB 2 or 3 won't matter if the cable can only sustain 1A current flow. This purports to be able to carry 2.1 Amps... http://www.amazon.com/Hi-mobiler-Hi-Speed-Gold-Plated-Connectors-Smartphone/dp/B00TCBTFYK

You might try this 10' 24/28GA USB cable from monoprice ($1.46) There's a 15' one, too, costs a whole 0.50 more.
The issue with long cables is that, if you use thin conductors, there's a voltage drop (resistance drops voltage), which can reduce charge speed or even put you out of USB spec. These cables use thicker conductors to carry current.
Don't let the prices fool you; monoprice cables are pretty decent.

2. 3m USB extension and OEM cable = 650mA
3. 3m braided USB to micro USB = 850mA

I bought both the 3ft and 10ft red braided cables on the 29th of may, used them almost daily since (10ft for sure, 3ft I only use in the car so not as often) and I've got no issues with the retaining pins. In fact they're bloody stiff, they fit in my Nexus 7's loose USB port (dropped it with a cable plugged in, ruined the cable, loosened the USB port) as if there's no issue at all.
Also got the 6ft non-braided one for a mate (he doesn't have Prime) on the 29th of March and I haven't heard him complain about it at all. It may just be a bad batch with failing pins.
If you want any pics/info on the red braided cables feel free to ask.
