I am on Liberty3 v1.0 for my DX2 and have installed the red theme from hedwig34. I love it for now, but if I want to revert back to the default/stock Liberty theme, how do I do that?
reflash the srock rom...itll wipe any theme u had over it...dont worry about wiping data or anything and u should b back to stock

I tried that before (just flashing the original rom without any wipe) and it screwed up my phone. All of my app labels were half in Spanish and who knows what else. I had to re-wipe and re-flash the original rom and start all over. Not sure if it was a fluke, but yeah...didn't work for me.
That's why you always make a nano back up every time before you make a change like a theme. That way you can always go back. No sbf and everything is set up already to your likings.

I had a nandroid of my stock setup. Didn't backup my Liberty settings before I flashed the theme and then re-flashed the rom. I learned. I learned.

I thought switching out the edited frameworks with the stock frameworks from said rom will get u where u want to be. Except themed apps would also have to be switched out one by one also.
With any theme u should theoretically be able to just flash the original rom without clearing anything.. theming does not change the way the rom is built it is graphical edits and xml edits.. example I can flash eclipse 1.3 over my blood red theme and it goes back to the way it was themed originally without losing anything
Edit.. I know someone posted this already.. I have no clue why it didn't work.. unless something build wise in the rom was changed in the theme.... highly unlikely but I guess possible

Maybe it was a different version of rom flashed over a themed rom with no wipe?
That's possible also.. a more likely scenario actually

I figured it out. I had actually flashed the same version of Liberty onto the themed version, so it wasn't any issue with having different versions. I just did it again tonight and it worked, sort of. When the phone started, it said something about "com.motorolla.phone has stopped working and needs to close" or something. I just restarted my phone and voila...it worked.
really gud rom ive tried it several times

Can you take a rom made for a different model phone and put it in another model? Example rom made for samsung put in a razr phone. I found a dark aosp rom i want to put in my razr. Will it work if i root?
yes you can but it has to be ported to this device...I want to also have some Roms i had on my EVO to be on this RAZR like a MIUI or CYANOGEn those were my FAVS the phone just came out give it some time it will happen in no time im sure

First, IMO MIUI just looks like an iPhone. But the problem is the locked bootloader, without it being unlocked you can't install the custom kernel required by those ROMs. I have the Eclipse ROM installed right now and love the debloatedness of it. I will go back to stock once ICS is released so I can upgrade. But I think I will stick with this until then.

Really wouldn't recommend doing that, you will almost certainly bootloop your phone. Other devices use different hardware and need different drivers, it takes a fair bit of work to port a ROM.

Do you just want the theme? We can't really port a lot more than a framework to the RAZR thanks to that locked bootloader.
If it is the theme you want, extract the boot animation, sounds, fonts, framework-res, system UI, and any apps you fancy, and start extracting, signing, and comparing what's in the RAZR's stock files vs. your desired ROM. Steep learning curve if you're new to it, no overnight fix or instant answer, I'm afraid.

i want the whole rom...has bootloader fix...everything. wish that you all could just read what the rom has,,even includes ics. well thanks everyone for your time and efforts of trying to help

Please post Questions like this in the Q&A or General forum.
Edit I am num I thought this was in the dev forum sorry.
Thanks! Ill give this a shot... Apologize for not searching more thoroughly.
Did you try the dx2BSR.apk?
No, dont know anything about that .apk lol
I pasted the files and set the permissions appropriately and powered off then plugged in to wall and CWR in. Since I dont know of any roms I just did a backup and rebooted.
Are you 235 or 236?
oh sorry... 2.3.6
Need 235 for wifi on our 235 roms. Most roms don't do a kernel check. Do my Miui nandroid of Ace's rom. One guy did it but no wifi . You could hack in the needed 236 sys apk but if the problem is in system/framework forget it.
Do Eclipse you would get more help hacking the wifi.
What sort of hack? Im kinda reluctant to take many chances being this is a work phone. If it was mine I could take it back to CSpire as I bricked a Milestone X a few months back and had no problems with a warranty exchange
Do eclipse you can just nand back. Some in that thread may come up w/ a fix. IDNK. IT would be trial & error for me . I'm no Dev.
Thanks for you prompt replies and help...
Just wanting to be 100% sure... So I can flash Eclipse 2.1 from where I stand now or I need to restore to your MUI nand first then Eclipse?
Post in their thread. Just one at a time. Eclipse is 235. While Miui is 234. When eclipse was 234 a mx2'er did it on 235 and all was good but wifi.
BE SURE and flash ReRecovery b4 you leave cwr if you wipe data or flash a rom as you have no sbf . Read all my thread.
Thanks again for your help, It was easy to just follow steps with the desire but motorola has crap so locked down, its made me a bit more cautious and active these last couple days lol. Ill pay more attention courteously with the posts
EDIT: Oh so now with cwm loaded all I have to do now is flash the rerecovery zip instead of copying & pasting and setting permissions? Thats what I want sure about earlier.
The zip does the same as you did (or the apk) but from cwr. Do you have a sbf? You are really putting RR to the test (relying on it) if you don't.
No sbf. Dunno where to get one.
Sent from my Milestone X2 using xda premium
So be sure to do the BU, data wipe, Flash RR and restore testing in the mx2 section.
Currently running CM9 on my Photon, would like to go back to stock, have searched and havent really found to much.
Is there a guide for the simple minded among us (namely me) to go back to stock???
I have a feeling it's really simple and I am gonna feel silly for asking....heh
Boot into recovery,
hard reset X3
Reboot into rsd mode
Sbf back to stock
(you will have t to re root and unlock if you choose to after)

Cm9 isn't as cracked up as they making out to be?
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
It was pretty nice, but not all it's cracked up to be. A few things didnt work.
But the most annoying thing was it didnt seem to know it was on Sprint network.
It was nice, and I dont wanna crap on the hard work put into it..
It's acting kind of flakey, I wonder if re-flashing it would help, I might try that first then maybe go back to stock.....
Ive had very few issues with CM9 and ive followed it from the beginning Alpha stages.. Try a different version if you have issues. To each his own for sure some people will like others won't. I personally cant be taken away from it. Ive had VERY few network issues where it wouldn't connect and the not working items list gets smaller each day, its basically down to video camera in stock app and few other minor things. As for going back to stock if you need super detail check out QBKing77 on youtube, he has a video of exactly what to do.
I am currently running beta-0.1.0-2d-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Sunfire-KANG-signed, maybe I should just upgrade to beta-0.5.0-cm-9.0.0-RC0-sunfire-UNOFFICIAL-signed. If I do that, I pretty much follow the directions I did to flash the original correct??
Basically from about 3 minutes in on QB's tut video??
Cant post the link, but this one:

When coming from previous cm9 build just wipe system in mounts and storage and flash thr newer build onto it via clockworkmod recovery.
Sent not from your device!
I will give that a try, I tried 3 or 4 times yesterday but it would get stuck on the M duel core screen.
Restored the back up I had and it was ok then.
EDIT:
No love yet again, I am using CWM 5.0.2.7.
It stops at the M duel core tech screen and just sits there.
Did you flash twice? If you don't, it bootloops.

ICS Rom
The way i got that rom to work on my photon was to run the original rom, then go back and flash the most recent version, that worked perfectly for me!
I will give that a whirl after after work, thanks....
Finally, got it going, further reading figured out to flash the rom twice in a row, currently running 0.5.0, had to flash the CDMA fix to get the signal, running great, much smoother then the 0.1.0......
Thanks for all the help guys.....

Yea, thats the first thing you always do. Make a backup and store it some place safe. THEN start experimenting lol.
Ok, got the backup made, flashed Eclipse 2.2.1. I like this much better than stock. Last night I was tinkering with it and installed Supercharger v6 script on it. I ran several different options and then after restarting, it was constantly on roaming for data. It was fine before, I flashed my backup back onto it and re did everything. It is back to normal. Does anyone know why it would be on roaming. Thanks for being patient with a new guy. People on here are a great help

Not sure but you can always check your settings. I had a rom on one of mine a while back and it came as default to rain outside of my home area somehow. Also, try to update the PRL. Not sure how to do it with your carrier. Mine is *228(Alltel) .
Also, how did you do your back up? Im wanting a custom ROM on mine but I have no ABC if all foes bad and I'm not sure I could do a Nandroid.

You have to install BSR first. After that, power off your phone and plug it into your charger. It will take you to recovery so you can make a backup, install roms, etc...

2.3.6 Rom?
Skinzaholic:
I have a MX2 which belonged to my brother (a technologically inept moron who took the 2.3.6 update). I was finally able to gain root yesterday, and since then I've been looking for a custom rom to get rid of motoblur. Everything I've read about eclipse says that it's for 2.3.4/2.3.5 only, and will not work for 2.3.6. When you flashed it, was it fully functional for you?

All great advice. Just remember you bsr is trash when you wipe system OR data!!
Or even the rom fails to boot. Almost anything can upset bsr on the quaint Dx2. Or the Mx2 same phone ReRecovery works on it also.

Rerecovery has never worked for me.
Also all Roms work on 2.3.6. The down side is it is not downgradable. Check out the mx2 folder in my android crap folder. The link is in my signature. I kept the zips for several Roms in there. If the gapps aren't there Google for them.

Sorry to hear that. You need to "roll your own" see the latter portion of the 3rd post.
Known issue-it just won't take on some mx2's.
Hello XDA members!
I am a long time lurker of these forums... well since day 1 of the photon release.
Anywho, I have a photon on 2.3.5 :crying: like that isnt bad enough... Well I rooted my photon and installed Rom Toolbox Pro on my Photon and I was messing around with the app and saw you can change icons and stuff like that. I was messing around with it and then I was going to return back to stock theme and icons... well. I guess I forgot to do a back-up of the original theme.
So now my photon looks like a cheap knockoff because all the colors and everything dont blend well with the phone. So....
I was hoping anyone knows how to get it back to the stock theme and icons. Since there isnt any 2.3.5 SBF that I am aware of I cant just flash it back to stock...
Or if anyone has a back-up of their stock theme and would like to share, if possible.
Thanks in advance!
But if no one can help I dont really want to wait until ICS or somone godly dev unlocks this bootloader.
But theres not much that I can do.
Mistakes happen, but no worries. Your mistake is fixable.
I believe if you look in the Development Section, there is a {Locked} version of 2.3.5 that is flash able thru Bootstrap Recovery (the only Recovery option available for Locked users). It will bring you back to stock and revert anything you changed in ROM Toolbox Pro.
I may be able to make a Bootstrap flash able framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk that will also possibly fix your issue without having to flash the whole /system folder. No promises tho.
But definitely look in the Development Section. Peetr_ and and another Dev have made some very useful stuff for locked users.
