I constantly see people advising the tools to flash firmware on the optimus V.
None of those people have an optimus V, or they'd probably know that LG never released flashable firmware for the optimus V.
I wish that LG weren't such F***S and had released working firmware for the optimus V!
They did not, at Virgin Mobile's request, I assume, because the VM510 firmware is broken just like the VM670 firmware; however the LN510 firmware is valid, and the LS670 firmware works too. (LN510=sprint rumor touch, VM510=virgin mobile rumor touch; LS670=sprint optimus, VM670=virgin mobile optimus)
you cannot install the stock LG virgin firmware, the .cab files are missing a .dll inside that decodes the contents of the .cab to the files needed by the flashing software.
If you install the Sprint optimus firmware on the Virgin optimus, it will flash because the phone board model number is the same, but the network data and MMS will be broken. Permanently. There is no way to revert to Virgin firmware without sending the phone to LG.
If you can't get the phone to respond to ADB, you're toast at this point and have to send the phone for service or replace it or give up your data service and flash sprint firmware.
You may be able to get adb to respond briefly during the 'formatting' loop in recovery. If so, it is probably fixable, post again to let me know and I'll try to walk you through what you have to do in that case.
I borked my first OV with a bad AOSP build without working ADB, it installed the built recovery which wouldn't respond to any keypresses or ADB. I flashed the sprint firmware rather than toss out all hope for the phone, and fought with it for a month trying to get data working again. If you find another way to fix it, please post it up for others! Won't help me, my first OV was flashed to death trying to hack a working version of the sprint firmware dll to unpack the virgin firmware.

ok so i thought the lg phoenix was basically an optimus one, so i loaded the openoptimus rom and the app2sd, and this gave me a boot loop/stuck. i wiped and it does go into android, but the colors are weird and eventually the screen goes blank and i can't do anything. i was wondering if anyone could help me get back to stock.
to flash your phone back to stock, you first need to find the LG Phoenix kdz file (which is used for kdz updater)
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
i've been looking for the kdz file, but can't find it for phoenix
yeah i was trying to look for it too but i couldnt find out. all i know is that it can be found on csmg.lgmobile.com:???????????????????????????
seems impossible for now
go to the post LG thrive source page 10 and flash the boot and system.imgs through fastboot it saved me
Why don't you try to do nand restore from your backup you made before you flashed OpenOptimus?

Help please! So i loaded an optimus one rom using on my phoenix. (yes stupid me) well now my phone wont go past the booting android screen. I was able to open fastboot but nothing more. Anyone know what could get me out of this? This is urgent.
The reason the colour is all messed up is cuz ur on the rong kernel.
Flash this Kernel and everything will be all good. This one is for the P505
And Using O1 Roms for the Phoenix Is NOT Stupid, its the only roms u can use. its Just the kernel u forgot about
Hey All...need your expertise a particular issue that I'm facing. I flashed my P765 offline with the P760 JB kdz. flashed cm10.1. faced some issues so I returned to ICS with my cwm backup. Now when I try to flash either ICS or JB kdz with LG Update tool, it wont do it and I get stuck at 4% and it tells me to connect my phone with my computer - which I have already done (all drivers installed).
Attached is a screenshot and a log from the update tool. Hoping someone can guide me here. BTW - I have uninstalled and re-installed all drivers.
I have the same problem...
Did u try using cwm backups in the forum? If that works, try flashing kdz again n see :good:

hey all...i think I solved it...don't manually put your phone in software mode. Keep it powered on and in LG software mode. flash kdz using update tool and the tool will automatically put the phone in software mode.

I found out what is the problem. My computer has too many USB devices while the power supply is not the brightest. probably due to variations in voltage of 5V I had a problem updating. I disconnected bluetooth and external HDD after which everything is done regularly.

your are a champion,i was a bit to eager and flashed my wifes p768 with the jelly bean rom for the p760,bad idea, camera did not work anymore and apps like talk came back with error messages.tried to flash it back to ics but that was a no go with the manual option of sw mode, stopped constantly at 15% saying phone or device not connected.tried your option as last resort et voila' it worked like a charm.ics back on the phone
camera working again and no error msg's.
have to say but that the upgrade in general to jb on a lg phone does not seem to be a huge step, when i flashed my galaxy s2 to jelly bean that phone had like a whole new feel about it,feature and smoothness wise.
either way u made my day m8:laugh::good:

If my phone is still under warranty would I be able to get a replacement one if it has software problems like being stuck at lg logo and saying security error?
I think they wouldn't replace it but fix it for you. What have you done to your phone?
Flashing a rom for an locked bootloader phone?
Can you fix it by kdz offline flash?

My bootloader is unlocked. One day on stock rom like a week after flashing a fresh kdz my phone just crashed so now whenever I start my phone there is a dead android with a red triangle over it. Whenever I flash a new kdz it changes nothing, my phone still boots to a dead android with a red triangle over it. I think it may be stuck in a recovery bootloop. So after I thought that, I used omap4boot and entered fastboot mode and flashed me a new recovery. But now in the recovery I cant do anything it says something like E error cant mount \cache or sd card and things pertaining to that. The recovery is also mirrored. So after about a month of posting on xda in the questions and l9 questions areas I decided that I would just try and replace it. So I flashed ics u and x boot which when I enter s/w upgrade mode doesn't say bootloader unlocked then I removed the custom recovery which makes it just load up to the lg logo and freeze
What questions might they ask me if I want it fix is there anything not to say to them
If you want to try sending it on warranty you can start here: https://www.lg.com/us/support/repair-service/schedule-repair
I don't know if they will replace it or repair it. I also don't know if unlocking the bootloader voids your warranty.
I sent my rooted P769 in under warranty. They replaced the flash memory and sent it back with the latest FW about a week later. Works fine now.
It only cost me about $5 to mail the phone to Texas. YMMV

You better say nothing about your phone but just "IT FREEZE" and let them check themselves. Before that I suggest you flash the ics kdz first because ics don't have bootloader checking and your phone can pretend to be "Offical".

Messing with the bootloader voids the warranty. So you'd be better off just booting to LGs logo and NOT the Security Error Security Error will tell any tech right away that you've been doing things you're "not" supposed to do.
Yeah be tactical. If they anyhow come to know your boot loader's status then you're screwed. I mean the security error stuff.
