i have a rather weird problem with my display that is when the screen is off it glows slightly not much but very light as if the displays running in the background and is it a hardware problem coz m thinking to get it checked... still under warranty so if anyone has encountered any problem like this before and any solutions ???
Could you take a photo of it and post here, alongside the normal display? It will help in comparison.

see if i take in normal light then one cant see the difference .. if full dark then too spotting the diff.... imo wud not be possible !!
He's saying that when he hits the power button to turn off the display, the backlight is still on.
I've never had this issue, I'm just helping to clarify your issue.
Oh i got it. I had this issue on unlocking screen. My phone won't wake up but I would get a lit black screen. Disabling windows animation reduced this stuff. (though ir occurs very few). I use smartass v2 128 to 1190

I use Miui Rom. And it happens a lot that when I lock my phone by power button the screen glows on full brightness and dim down. Its like in a second. VEry annoying!
i never use MIUI rom but still have these problem and i use at 245 to 1152 mhz oly !!
Some dev and aosp 2.2 roms used to stay slightly lit after screen off. it was a bug that killed battery life and some devs fixed it over time. So it could be your rom....

I just got an Xperia Active Billabong Edition today. My problem is that the lower right screen is bleeding. It's not the screen itself. It's actually the blacklight of the capacitive "menu" button. When I set the screen timeout to 2 mins and the capacitive buttons shut off before the screen does, there's no light bleed. Anyone else with this problem?
Yea i got the same issue. I have persuaded myself not to look on the bottom right corner
I think its a manufacturer error...

Thank god. I feel better now that I'm not the only one. Which active do you have?

i have same thing......does not bother me at all.......
Same error here.
Newly aquired Xperia Active with bleeding light in lower right corner, and it really annoys me.
That an the fact that the phone sometimes, without reason, goes into a vibrating spasm which usually do not last longer than a minute.
And sometimes the phone looses connection with the SIM-card, and I have to turn the phone off, and the on again to be able to connect to my carrier.
So it's a common problem? I think it's a manufacturing defect.

Anyone else experiencing this? My seller said his last unit also has this light leak.

I see the same thing. I just decided not to care
Me too on st15i
I also have the vibra-spasms
I didnt have them on CM7 tho. I think its Kernel related more than anything,
Same for me - don´t think about .............
BTW - it´s a famous fone and really water resitent - i tried this out yesterday.
That's just terrible quality control! It's alarming.
Strange thing is people aren't bothered by the inferior quality of their products.

It's quite hard to capture it on photo but it's on the lower right. It's caused by the capacitive buttons light leaking on the LCD.
It's very visible at night specially on a black screen or just when you unlock unlock phone using the power button from sleep.

I saw that you made a thread about this on my "home" forum as well.

It's updated.
Hey,
have you ever tried to use the app "Screen Filter"?
The app should allow you to turn off the backlight of the softkeys!
Can anyone check if its working with the Xperia Active?
Let me know please... i dont have the phone, but maybe soon i have...
Same Here, i think what happend on my active
Please can anyone check if the "Screen Filter" app works on the xperia active?
There you can choose "disable softkey backlight". With this option the effect dont appear anymore...
please advice
Screen filter and unselect "Enable soft key backlight" works well. Soft key backlight is disabled, also when unlocking the phone.
The disadvantage being that in a dark room, you'll now have to "know" where each of the three soft buttons is (which probably isn't a problem if it's your phone and you're used to using it).
Thanks a lot! Happy to hear that...
Is there a possibility to autostart Screen Filter or have you to start the app manually after a reboot?
Thanks a lot again
Hello guys, i just took the xperia mini st15i and i saw that the screen lightning is trembling when i am writing a text most of times, but it does it at idle times too.
I did factory reset to the phone and it still does it. It stops doing it when i am covering the lightning sensor, i think that the problem is at auto screen brightness.
is there anything that i can do with that? or i must get it for RMA?
There is another topic that treat the argument.
The only way is to root your phone and Download the app "Disable Auto Brighteness" for Xperia Play(It's work for Xperia Mini).
Or you have to change something in the file system and disable auto-brightness.
The reason that happens is because you cover the light sensor with your thumb sometimes when texting. Its not a device fault, its just how its meant to work.

Yeah, I get that too on my Xperia Mini Pro, but it doesnt happen all the time, like sometimes indoors and out.
ok ill check that, my question is if i want to put the cyanogen to the phone, firstly i have to unlock the bootloader to do it and that is avoiding the warranty, can i lock the bootloader after that again to get the warranty back?

No.
It's happens only on Xperia Mini ST15.
Is a problem of the light sensor, badly calibrated.

My Xperia Mini Pro does that too some times, going where there is more light make it stop.

So does the Xperia active. Its just common sense. Less light into the ambient sensor = lower brightness.
There's an official fix for this issue as well as overheating and other issues with SE Mini, just go to the nearest SE Service Center and ask for the calibration fix for xperia mini.
There have been a lot of reported stories about these issues and was all resolved by the calibration fix.
Have a look at this thread where I posted an answer on this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19778308
I'll just paste it here as well for all to see.
I can confirm that this happens when the light sensor adjusts the screen brightness. If you go to Settings > Screen > Screen brightness, and here set it to max, you will disable the auto brightness feature and the flickering should stop. It will have negative effect on your battery performance though.

I have SE LWW i love this phone but what i have notice that it has some problem with the sensor that change the brightness according to the light conditions.
What happens is that sometimes the screen start to flicker that is continuous jump
between low and high brightness which is very irritating.
So please share if any one of u face the same problem or know anything about it.
I m using LwW from yesterday but havnt seen this kind of issue may be needing more time to cross check, will update definitely.

yeah mine too.
i think it's coming from the device light sensor, n we can't fix it until sony put an update.

Weird had the lww too and never had that problem. Do the ones that have it updated your phones?? I am currently on lasan's rom but never encounter it.
thanks for replying guys but i think it is the ambient light sensor problem that means it is a hardware problem so it might not get solved by update.
Be positive most of the times it is a kernel related problem or take to a service center and see if they give you a new one
Live With Walkman
Live with walkman has a ambient sensor in it which changes light accordingly
but i never noticed any flicker in my phone my suggestions would be take the
phone SE service center
the flicker shows when u look at screen from side. but from infront of the screen, it's hard to see.

I confirm this.
When brightness is not full(I used on half on Stock and Hybrom ROMs), then in some conditions the screen indeed does flicker a bit.
That is caused by ambient light sensor, which detects many different light levels at some point, that is the reason for changing screen brightness so much at that time.
Currently, I am not aware of solutions for this, as I do use custom ROM, where I haven't noticed it yet.

Is not a bug, most other phones have it also, that means light sensor works.
It shouldn't damage your phone.

Yes the same problem is with me too!!
Good evening
Im having two problems with my Sony Xperia P.
The 1st one is that when i turn on the light on the Max on my phone: the colour change..the YELLOW colour becomes greenish and every image which has a yellow colour changes into a greenish and the images becomes very ugly, and i can't use full light cuz it just becomes ugly,,once i change the light to automatic or low light , then everything returns to normal
The 2nd problem is that when i trun on my internet using the sim card ( not wireless ) the signal disappears and i have to restart my phone several times and try to call any number in order to get my phone signal back !
i'm using the stock Rom ( 2.3.7 -- 6.0.B.3.184) I haven't unlocked my phone and i just bought it a week ago !
please Help me..if this is happening with all the P devises then i'll be ok with it..if not, then i'll go back to the dealership and fix it
thanx for ur time and concern
take care
The display issue is due to that high brightness. Our device supports very high brightness so 50 % is more than enough. You can try autobrightness in power saving mode. Though I hope that it is solved in the coming ICS update.
About network issues I think you should repair once using PC companion. This firmware build has got no such issues.
Hi everybody
I have a little problem
i have an xperia mini pro, and i just installed real ics on it (some days ago)
the touch sensitive buttons started working bad... when i use phone sometimes they do not light up... or they do but with delay... they also do blink with no order...
i hope i did explained myself well... what do ya tell me do you think could be the problem?
thx a lot!
this isn't a problem.. basically our xmp has light sensor on the top.. so when you r in good light condition the touch sensitive button stop to lightning up.. and when the light sensor is not in good light lightning condition it start to lightning up.. when your touch button start to blink up with no order just keep your phone in one state you will understand what happning... i hope you understand..

hey
thx for the answer.. so it's not hardware or software issue?
but i'm pretty sure it didn't happen before (when i hadn't real ics rom... not saying that is because of real ics rom, maybe it only started now)...
and about the light sensor, if i put a torch on it, or i tap it the screen light doesn't change (the intensity)... so does it works or not?
and, sry, but i didn't understand your last words "when your touch button start to blink up with no order just keep your phone in one state you will understand what happning"
thx again!

up pls
in last statement i was saying that if your observe your touch sensitive buttons starts to blink randomly(getting lightning on and off randomly).. just keep your phone stable or in one position .. you will understand what happen..
and regarding display intensity .. you will better observe this thing when you move out in sunlight.. (not sure about this correct me if iam wrong)
yep.. for the screen ya right man... in fact i tried under the sun, but the light remains the same... light sensor doesn't work... but in the installation of real ics rom, if i'm not wrong, i did not choose to disable it... is it better not to have it activated? (someone says yes because it works not well... it's not well calibrated i read)...
for keeping the phone in that position i still do not understand... sorry
however i'm pretty sure it didn't work like that before installing the rom... maybe i will ask in that thread...
however again thx for answering
