What happens is that sometimes the screen start to flicker that is continuous jump
between low and high brightness which is very irritating.
So please share if any one of u face the same problem or know anything about it.
I m using LwW from yesterday but havnt seen this kind of issue may be needing more time to cross check, will update definitely.

yeah mine too.
i think it's coming from the device light sensor, n we can't fix it until sony put an update.

Weird had the lww too and never had that problem. Do the ones that have it updated your phones?? I am currently on lasan's rom but never encounter it.
thanks for replying guys but i think it is the ambient light sensor problem that means it is a hardware problem so it might not get solved by update.
Be positive most of the times it is a kernel related problem or take to a service center and see if they give you a new one
Live With Walkman
Live with walkman has a ambient sensor in it which changes light accordingly
but i never noticed any flicker in my phone my suggestions would be take the
phone SE service center
the flicker shows when u look at screen from side. but from infront of the screen, it's hard to see.

I confirm this.
When brightness is not full(I used on half on Stock and Hybrom ROMs), then in some conditions the screen indeed does flicker a bit.
That is caused by ambient light sensor, which detects many different light levels at some point, that is the reason for changing screen brightness so much at that time.
Currently, I am not aware of solutions for this, as I do use custom ROM, where I haven't noticed it yet.

It shouldn't damage your phone.

I just got an Xperia Active Billabong Edition today. My problem is that the lower right screen is bleeding. It's not the screen itself. It's actually the blacklight of the capacitive "menu" button. When I set the screen timeout to 2 mins and the capacitive buttons shut off before the screen does, there's no light bleed. Anyone else with this problem?
Yea i got the same issue. I have persuaded myself not to look on the bottom right corner

i have same thing......does not bother me at all.......
Same error here.
Newly aquired Xperia Active with bleeding light in lower right corner, and it really annoys me.
That an the fact that the phone sometimes, without reason, goes into a vibrating spasm which usually do not last longer than a minute.
And sometimes the phone looses connection with the SIM-card, and I have to turn the phone off, and the on again to be able to connect to my carrier.
So it's a common problem? I think it's a manufacturing defect.

I also have the vibra-spasms
I didnt have them on CM7 tho. I think its Kernel related more than anything,
Same for me - don´t think about .............

It's quite hard to capture it on photo but it's on the lower right. It's caused by the capacitive buttons light leaking on the LCD.
It's very visible at night specially on a black screen or just when you unlock unlock phone using the power button from sleep.

Hey,
have you ever tried to use the app "Screen Filter"?
The app should allow you to turn off the backlight of the softkeys!
Can anyone check if its working with the Xperia Active?
Let me know please... i dont have the phone, but maybe soon i have...
Same Here, i think what happend on my active
Please can anyone check if the "Screen Filter" app works on the xperia active?
There you can choose "disable softkey backlight". With this option the effect dont appear anymore...
please advice
Screen filter and unselect "Enable soft key backlight" works well. Soft key backlight is disabled, also when unlocking the phone.
The disadvantage being that in a dark room, you'll now have to "know" where each of the three soft buttons is (which probably isn't a problem if it's your phone and you're used to using it).
Thanks a lot! Happy to hear that...
Is there a possibility to autostart Screen Filter or have you to start the app manually after a reboot?
Thanks a lot again
Hello guys, i just took the xperia mini st15i and i saw that the screen lightning is trembling when i am writing a text most of times, but it does it at idle times too.
I did factory reset to the phone and it still does it. It stops doing it when i am covering the lightning sensor, i think that the problem is at auto screen brightness.
is there anything that i can do with that? or i must get it for RMA?
There is another topic that treat the argument.
The only way is to root your phone and Download the app "Disable Auto Brighteness" for Xperia Play(It's work for Xperia Mini).
Or you have to change something in the file system and disable auto-brightness.
The reason that happens is because you cover the light sensor with your thumb sometimes when texting. Its not a device fault, its just how its meant to work.
Sent from my ST17i using XDA App
Yeah, I get that too on my Xperia Mini Pro, but it doesnt happen all the time, like sometimes indoors and out.
ok ill check that, my question is if i want to put the cyanogen to the phone, firstly i have to unlock the bootloader to do it and that is avoiding the warranty, can i lock the bootloader after that again to get the warranty back?

So does the Xperia active. Its just common sense. Less light into the ambient sensor = lower brightness.
There's an official fix for this issue as well as overheating and other issues with SE Mini, just go to the nearest SE Service Center and ask for the calibration fix for xperia mini.
There have been a lot of reported stories about these issues and was all resolved by the calibration fix.
Have a look at this thread where I posted an answer on this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19778308
I'll just paste it here as well for all to see.
I can confirm that this happens when the light sensor adjusts the screen brightness. If you go to Settings > Screen > Screen brightness, and here set it to max, you will disable the auto brightness feature and the flickering should stop. It will have negative effect on your battery performance though.

Recently my Neo has developed this problem where the screen is dimmer, it occurred when I had to replace my touchscreen as I broke it when I removed it whilst I was trying to remove some sand... Anyway it just makes my screen really hard to read in the sun light, I just find it odd though as it obviously sounds like a hardware issue due to the likely cause of the problem and the fact that I've reinstalled my phones firmware many times to no effect. Also that seems to be the only problem other than what should be a white background being a slightly creamy colour but again it's odd cause it doesn't do that in many. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or have experienced any similar problems though I can't afford to dismantle my phone many more times as the screw heads are wearing away. Also before you suggest I have already tried numerous Disable Auto Brightness apps to no effect.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
Also I forgot to mention that the contrast is perfect still if not sharper.
I'm 100% sure that's hardware issue...
Did you replace your touchscreen by yourself or went to sony for replacement?
If you replaced it by yourself your warranty is voided and only solution is phone disassemly again, but if sony replaced your touchscreen go to them and explain them your problem
Ok thanks, but wouldn't there be visible wear if the LCD screen was damaged so is it possible it's a loose connection? I mean the brightness literally is the only problem.
Also I replaced the screen myself and I knew I was voiding the warranty, though quick question, how can they tell I've opened my phone?
One last final question, at the moment it's almost bearable so would it be worth just leaving as it is or is there a possibility of it suddenly dying on me?
Thanks again

if you are on official GB based roms this patch will increase the current in your lcd and increase your brightness to its highest possible also disables the auto brightness
remember it can cause hardware failure too so use it on your own risk

Well, if you burn that LED, you can still send your Z2 for a warranty repair

they are seperate units with their own information.
the camera app has control of the LED flash, the led flash has its own settings in the system which determines its brightness and voltage.
the camera hardware does not have anything to do with flash aside the flash assisting camera use.
Well i am calling it a possible fix as i am still testing it. I am talking about the full brightness issue that many others are facing too. The issue was the brightness would still vary automatically depending on the ambient light even when the auto brightness was switched off. So when you are in a dark room even if you wanted you could not turn the brightness to 100%. Initially when i just bought the phone for few days i felt the screen looked a little less brighter compared to how it looked in the showroom, so when i searched for it found out that so many of them out there have the same issue. You can just test it by switching off the auto brightness and keeping the brightness to 100% in a dark room and when you project a flash light or some light source on the sensor next to the ear piece the screen would get brighter and when you take off that light the screen would again become a little dimmer. I for a second thought it could be some kind of feature as well. But what ever that was i dint like it as could not pump up the brightness in a dark room to its full capacity even if i wanted it. And thats such a shame for such a beautiful display.
So i first wanted to flash some custom ROMs and see if that makes any difference. First i flashed a custom rom from the S6E android development section but the issue still persisted and after a day's observation i again flashed a ROM today from the s-6--s-6-edge-unified-development thread and after flashing the ROM i went in to settings-accessibility-vision-colour adjustment and switched it on, since then the brightness varied just once right after the colour adjustment was switched on but now i am continuously able to pop up the brightness to 100% even in the low light area and seems like the issue has been fixed !! I have been observing it for the last 3 to 4 hours.
So who ever has this issue can try this out and let me know if it worked. I would not say the ROM installation is a must, first try turning on the colour adjustment under settings-accessibility-vision-colour adjustment and if it doesnt work then try flashing the ROM and again doing the colour adjustment and let me know if it worked for you !! But after what ever changes you make do a reboot and give it an hour or so.
EDIT : As i was still testing it unfortunately the bug showed up again so i finally decided to flash an S6 ROM ( Not S6 edge) on to my S6E and to my surprise the issue was solved !! Now i can confirm that its just a software bug and hopefully samsung will fix it !! If any one wants to try flashing a flat S6 ROM let me know i will leave a link here with the kernel to be flashed. Hopefully this helped !!
I will test it..thanks for this
Can somebody confirm this as a possible solution to the bug?

I'm surprise so many people still recommend Lux app when it is useless for this issue. The issue is that the phone always has some autobrightness turned on even when we set it to be off. Even when you set Max brightness in Lux app, it's still only Max what the phone will do without Lux. Therefore, for those that want super bright all the time, Lux is useless.

Let's say that it is a really annoying issue in darken places because the brightness is too low. Try to compare the s6 edge with any other phone (s6 flat for example) and you will see how the issue is annoying! It is surely not a feature because the s6 flat doesn't do that. Moreover samsung admitted it is an issue (I have spoken with them several times), the funny thing is that after 2 months it is not solved yet.

What? That's not the problem OP is talking about? Brightness too low in dark places? No one has this problem, and if they did, a 3rd party app like lux would have fixed the issue.
Lux does not fix the issue. Many tried. I tried. I set Max brightness using Lux and its not as bright as it could be. You could try for yourself, turn off auto brightness, manually set Max brightness in both settings and Lux, go to a dark place and shine a flashlight on the light sensor. Screen will become brighter.
Then you'll understand that Max brightness does not work with setting and with Lux. Then you'll be enlightened... but then you can also choose not to try this and go on with your life as ignorance is bliss. When something doesn't work, most people call it a bug while some people choose to call it a feature
Sent from my SM-G925T
I thought the extra boost to brightness was a feature and helped battery?
Set to a certain maximum, on bright light situations (outside in sunlight, maglight on sensor) the display will boost to an unnatural brightness to aid visibility. On return to inside light levels the phone returns to normal.

It's not a feature its a bug. Every s6 edge has this issue . Maybe not everyone realized as you for example but it's for all s6 edge.
You can see it clearly comparing in a dark place a s6 flat and a s6 edge. The flat is way brighter than the edge so this is clearly a bug

I also think this is more of a "feature" then a bug.
It originally was a bug before the maintenance update because the screen would not dim to 50% brightness before timing out completely. Unless the screen was in the (what im calling) super bright mode.
Since the maintenance update the screen will now dim to 50% before timing out altogether.
But we still see the screen go into super bright mode in very well lit areas (ie direct sun) When i look at the screen in this mode though i notice the colors dont look real. Which leads me to believe that this is more of a feature to ramp up the screens brightness when you are in situations that might make the screen hard to see (ie direct sunlight)
