How to Port an App? (Ginger to ginger) - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi,
I cannot find any threads dedicated to porting an app generally, yet there are tons of mini-threads with a single app port, so how do we do it?
I'm hoping to port some SE 2.3 apps to a custom 2.3 rom. I know that at least some of the apps are not dependant on SE processes and framework, because there are ports from the big X10 and Arc of phonebook, messaging etc. They're the apps I'd really like to try first. Someone from the new 2011 Mini gave me a system dump so I have everything.
Two other things which might help; there are some custom 2.3 roms which try to keep as much SE framework and style as possible. Also, there is the other idea of porting them to official SE 2.1. As it is, you get 'parsing error' so porting needed.
Thanks!

is possible to port the arc rom to xperia 10?

THe sony ericsson xperia arc have a similar hardware to the xperia x10, is there any developers that is trying to port the xperia arc rom gingerbread 2.3 to xperia x10?
thanks.
To my knowledge the arc isnt out yet so ...
But they are porting gingerbread. Its in alpha right now but it is in progress.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
nope, not yet.
you'll have to wait.
the porting of gingerbread is now in beta version and looks quite well, but there are the camera and sensors not implemented. ok i could work without sensors and usb storage which was buggy is availble on reboot in xRecovery. So i just installed the froyo rom, which is very stable evrything except camcorder working and it looks very similar to gingerbread.
Nowdays there are those problems going to be solved (in progress). That means in a week or so we will have a good rom, and i think in two weeks a stable one with everything working.
Once the Arc is released I'm sure some devs will be able to port it over or at least components that could be used on our X10s. I certainly hope they can because that would like getting the update from Sony Ericsson they've neglected to give us all
not giving us official Update, SE follows a strategy to sell new phones, becouse no one would upgrade from X10 to Arc if SE would update the X10 to Gingerbread.
I'm so happy that the xda-devs are doing that great job porting original Android 2.2 and 2.3. And anyway the original rom, not branded by SE is better. It has not so much rubish system apps and saves the ram and the internal storage.
But in the future, when xda-devs have allready made a stable 2.3 rom, they will grab the original from Arc and port it too.
For sure the Arc's ROM will be used to make stable ginger for X10.It will take some time tho, but you can be sure about it

[Q] Good Roms

Hello, i am new to the whole modding thing, and i just wanted to know if there are any 2.2 or 2.3 roms that keep the default apps like timescape and others. I really love Sony's interface, but i hate the fact that it's running android 2.1. It would be very appreciated if somebody could give me a good recommendation.
You can try Wolfbreak's CM6.1.3 ROM. Its fast and stable. It does not have timescape by default, but he has provided a flashable zip of it for those who wanted timescape.
You can find its details here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264
Thank you I have looked around, and I think I'll stick with the default launcher until the Arc roms is finished.

[Q] Basic System of Gingerbread

ok, i dont know if this is possible but i think it is... (thats why theres a lot of ROM)
and what are the similarities of these ROMs?
"GingerBread Firmware" Right
-GingerDx have this
-MiniCm have this
-ArcMini have this
-and all the X10 Mini Rom
i maybe a newbie but i think everyone starts being a newbie
there are many ROMs for X10 Mini...
just want to know
what are the basic system files in all of the rom to run GingerBread on X10 Mini?
-no cyanogen settings
-no modding of visuals (theme, statusbar etc...)
-no apps
just the system files to run GingerBread on X10 Mini
because i want to retain original X10 Mini features...
maybe some of stock apps will not work if i will do this but thats ok, i will try to find out some compatible apps if this thing is possible...
maybe someone may ask me if why i am asking this...
my answer is i just want to provide a stock-looking ROM without heavily modding it...
hope sumone could help me about this if this is possible...
thanks...

Any other way to get 2.3 on mini than CyanogenMod?

Yeah, title says it all. I have a XPERIA X10 Mini running android 2.1
BTW i want to go back to 1.6 just to try it out again, but i dont know how, is there any official way or do i need to mod etc ?!
Short answer: No.
Longer answer: Not yet.
Even longer answer:By the looks of things, all the Gingerbread roms available here have CyanogenMod inside them. Sony Ericsson haven't released 2.3 onto this phone and they're not likely to either, so the only way to get a 'pure' version of it would be to hope that somebody makes one...or make it yourself.
Why do you want GB without CM though? The reason so many people put it in their rom's is that it's very good. You get all sorts of improvements to the phone's functionality and performance.
As for going back to 1.6, there's no official way as SE will only give you the latest firmware. But you can use Flashtool to do it instead.
stock FTW!
I think the OP is like me and they actually prefer using the stock launcher. I've been looking for the same thing myself, a pure stock rom just updated 2.3.3.
I appreciate all of the cool tweaks and mods that CM adds to the rom but for me those tweaks usually end up borking another feature i'd rather use. I am also not a big fan of the customizations that some rom authors do like alternative launchers, heavily modified notification trays, weird fonts and color schemes. i'd prefer a just straight vanilla stock rom w/the sony launcher and camera; works nicely w/the screen realestate that we have w/the x10 mini. Again, i appreciate all the hardwork by all the rom authors/devs.
The big killer for me on the CM roms is the camera, still not up to the sony stock camera in my experience and again no stock launcher; some are close.
My solution was the following:
1. repair phone back to stock using PC Companion
2. reroot phone (bootloader already was unlocked)
3. reinstall CWM recovery
4. remove bloatware from stock rom (sony sync crap, game trials, quickoffice, etc)
5. update /etc/hosts file w/ad blocking version
6. create nand backup in CWM. (also made one after setting up miniCM7 in case i wanted to go back at anytime by restoring the nand)
if we could just get 2.3.3 in a pure stock form.. i'd be in heaven.. however, i may give the new ICS roms a try once they get to everyday-use-stable.
btw, the x10 minis have been the hardest to get root, recovery and kernels on of all of the android devices i've used yet. (Nexus one, HTC G2, LG G2x, Lenovo TPT, Galaxy Tab). mad props to the devs that got us to where we are now.

[Q] What knowledge should I get know to if I want to port a rom?

I have a 2012 xperia device and I still love it very much. And I love Sony's latest stock rom too.
So I want to port Xperia X stock rom's feature to my Xperia TX's CM. But I don't know how to do ...
If I want to do something like I mentioned above, what kinds of knowledge should I get know to?
