[Q] Pro and Cons of CM7 dual boot - TouchPad General

I have been thinking about adding CM7 to my TP. I just had a few question.
If I add CM7 will I lose anything on WebOS?
If I have a problem with CM7 can it permently effect my TP? (brick or get stuck some how in CM and not be able to go back to just WebOS)
Is the TP faster on CM7 or WebOS how is the battery life?
I use my TP for mostly web surfing and email. I would like to have more choices in browsers and be able to use Netflix, Hulu, etc...
I have everything I need to install it on my PC I just wanted to have a few questions answer before I started. Thanks for any help.

No

You can use the ACME Uninstaller to go back to just webOS.
Is the TP faster on CM7 or WebOS how is the battery life?
I feel it is faster, but it was never slow on webOS. Battery life is less than webOS.

I just installed it and so far so good. I seem like it was made for the TP. The only problem I'm having is trying to add my hotmail accounts because my gmail is fine. Anyone know how to add hotmail to my accounts? I'm not sure what server to tell it. Thanks again for all the help

Web os is slow on certain aspects like screen responsiveness and typing in web browser where android side does not have these issues

I figured out the email thing. This is from my cm7 enhanced TP.

I have a 32gb TP, running 3.0.4 (updated OTA), Uberkernel @ 1.5, many patches from preware plus performance tweaks (logging, etc.).
I've been an Android user for years, but I liked webOS so much that I considered not installing CM7. I installed Alpha 2.1, then updated to 3.0, and am now running xron 3.3.2, a tweaked CM7 Rom.
I don't find webOS laggy at all. I think it performs as fast, if not faster than Android. For me, the battery life is better on webOS.
It's a pleasure being able to boot into either os at will.
Like a previous poster noted, you can get back to just webOS by using 'uninstaller'.
I strongly reccomend installing Android and the multi-boot capability of Moboot. It's like having 2 tablets.

Now it went from bad to worst. It was ok for the first few days then it stopped connecting to the android and amazon market. Tonight the touch screen stopped working. I tried to restart it and now the screen is black but you can see the backlight on. So, what do I do now?
update: I held the power and home button for awhile and now it's working.

[Q] calkulins Rom

i just noticed that the "My Apps" button in the market now looks like a phone and says "sprint"
If i click on it it doesn't take me to my apps.
Anyone else having this problem?
That's normal for this build. If you click on your Menu, you'll find My Apps there.
Thanks you were right

I'm really enjoying this ROM. The speed of the machine is phenomenal.
Love the Rom ad well but can't seem to get the market updated or to show all apps. Any thoughts?
I've tried market enabled to no avail.
Issue with ROM or with G-Tab?
I've noticed that if I let the g-tab go to sleep, I'm having to reboot it get it to wake up.
Is anyone else having this issue? I've had my tablet since x-mas, but have nto used it much. It sat in a desk drawer for about 2 months, and I'm just now getting into using it.

I have this issue with every rom ive tried on my gtab. So now I pretty much just install clem's kernel everytime. Plus it gives me CIFS so I can stream media from my windows pc .

Yeah, again it's just the build. There are a ton of hacks that will get you more of the market, but I doubt you'll ever get "everything". Considering that the GTab wasn't blessed by Google, we're lucky to have the devs here to get the market at all.

Another issue with this ROM. Some have fixed it by going to Clemsyn's kernel, others to Pershoot's and still others by using CPU Master Free. Personally, I just set my tab's Screen Timeout to Never. What can I say...I like simple.

I agree. The only problems I see with it are no news and weather widget like on tnt, and the horrible photo album (I think it's from stock?)
Fireware
This may be a stupid question, so I am sorry if it is, but Calkulins v1.1 says it is "Based on rooted 2.2 / FRF91 - TnT 3991"...
so can you run it on the 1.1-3588 firmware, or will that brick?
Again, sorry for my ignorance...
Thanks!
ROM's and Firmware are the same thing. If you're asking whether you can use ClockworkMod or standard recovery, the answer is yes. Calkulin's ROM is a hybrid using the newer 3991 build for features but the older bootloader and recovery. It shouldn't cause you any trouble loading it over 3588.
Thanks! Sorry, I confused the firmware with bootloader, thanks for straightening that out!
No problem. Just want to make sure that I understand the question correctly. Happy modding!
All Done!
Woot!! I will say, I bought this on the woot! deal... and although I consider myself very computer savvy, I have never rooted/hijacked/whatever a device before...
Happily this was super easy! I wanted use the stock ROM for a bit to get familiar with it, but I just couldn't stand how slow/unresponsive/just crappy it was!!
So I jumped the gun and started in... luckily I did a lot of reading first!!
Loaded up Clockworkmod - and made a backup first!! lol
Used clockworkmod to install Calkulins ROM---OMG is it fast!!
The found that I was having the sleep-death issue... so I loaded up Clemsyns Kernel Too!!
Not a single hiccup! Even for a noob- this is super easy! Just follow all the great advice on the XDA forums (and don't skip steps!) and you can't screw it up.
Thanks to all the great people on here, for the hard work, and patience... I love seen good communities like this!
DeadEnd
Which version of Clemsyns is recommended?
Hi,
clakulins ROM is my prefered ROM so far
But, it needs some issues to be addressed to make it my daily driver.
1- sleep-to-death
I know we can use another kernel to fix this (so I keep this fix for later if everything else can work)
2- Settings/Family accounts/add member
This FC every single time. I definitly need this functionality. My Gtab being a family device....
3- Photos is horrible as previosuly pointed out in this thread. I want a centralized place for all my photos, or at least for local storage + picasa. With this gallery, we can only access picasa public albums. What about my own account !!!
4- Photos started to display pictures roatated one quarter to the left. It doesnt let me re-rotate them back to original. It does that for evey single picture, i cant fix this. Photos is now unusable
I tried a few Photos gallery apps from the market (6-7 so far). None of them works to my liking.
I just want somethings simple that get access to all my pics.
5- Cant play videos anymore. Not even the sample 'car' and 'king kong' that came with the Gtab.
If I can fix all of the above, calkulin will be my only and permanent ROM.
(ps items 4 and 5 were previously working ok in this ROM, this started yesterday)
Also, another things that is on my whish list:
- Have bluetooth HID
I have this blutooth keyboard collecting dust on the used parts shelve that I would like to use with the Gtab
thank you calkulin for all,
So, I decided to install clemsyn kernel to fix this sleep-death problem.
No problem installing, everything went well.
But now instead of comlaining that it cant play videos, it just FC on every videos I try to play.
I feel a complete reinstall will be necessary.

VeganTab so far
I'm a wooter (but been around XDA for a while, through several rooted and romed winphones, a beater G1 and now a rooted Defy)
Got the GTab and updated it, it was VERY laggy and I didnt like the interface.
Rooted, Clockworked, titanium and nandroid bu, reformatted 2048/0, then tried TNTlite
It was WAY nicer than stock, much quicker. After a couple of days I decided to try Vegan, which I like a little better although I forget what was wrong with TNTlite (FCs maybe?)
Will stay here but watch this poll and try something else based on results.

After flashing and playing with several different ROMs, I'm back on stock.
The current stock ROM is stable. It's plenty quick for me (I find no speed differences in everyday use, although some do show up using test software). The setup is highly appropriate for a tablet. In particular, the launcher works far, far better for me than any replacement launcher I've tried - plenty of icons fit on the home screen and useless phone links and icons are not there. The Android Market and Gmail can be added easily.
Calkulin's by far!
Add another vote for Calkulin from me....
Caulkin's 1.1 Rom with Clemsyn's v9 kernel
Sweet, Stable and Fast!
Vegan-Tab for sure. It's fast, stable, and everything works.

Have you tried LauncherPro? Everything can be customized. Icons can be moved or added. You can even set how many rows of icons you want on a screen. Stock ROM was just garbage for me. Everything force closed no matter what fixes I tried. Finally just installed CWM and wiped the thing and put Vegan-tab on it.

My ROM of choice as well, along with pershoot's kernel (seems to fix the wifi sleep bug).
+1 for Vegan-Tab its given me the least issues out of everything i've tried so far.
Calkulins for me too
sorry i didn't see caulkins when i was making this
sorry guys i didn't see caulkins when i was making the poll and i don't know how to go back and change it. so i will add it on the first post.
i was also thinking to make this a way for first time users to select their roms based on the most popular ones.
VEGAn-Tab an obvious winner?
I'd be surprised if it wasn't - it's been around for awhile and seems to be a perennial favorite with the new Woot! users.
I always thought TNT Lite to be more of a "gateway mod", if that makes any sense. Close to stock and doesn't veer far into unknown territory (for the most part -- I have made exceptions a few times).
I think they're all great, tbh - GB, Caulkin's speed demon, VEGA-based VEGAn, they all have their pros to them!
As a Woot purchaser, I started with Vegan and then tried TNT Lite, and ended up preferring TNT Lite. It just seemed a bit faster and more responsive to me. With Launcher Pro, it's great.
TNTLite for me, plus Roebeet has been very helpful and patient answering my questions at the time of installing the ROM.
So Kudos to you Buddy
I enjoyed TnT Lite for a while, then tried Vegan-tab. That is a solid ROM where my only issues were with the market. However, I'm finding that the CM7 with honeycomb-like tweaks to be the best for how I use my tablet. I had to setup the SDCard stuff off the bat, and I can't use Reader any more as it scales poorly in all GB ROM's, but I found that Pulse is a nice reader in itself that effectively replaces Reader.

This is the version I finally stopped on. I've tried TnT stock/Lite, VEGAn 5.1 & GB, Caulkins, gAdam, pretty much all of them. My two favorites are TnT Lite, and CM7 with tablet tweaks. Except I have audio issues on many of the non-stock based roms (no audio or static), so I installed Clemsyn's v9 GB kernel. However that has USB mounting issues ATM. Not to mention the video stuttering issues in CM. I can never win.
I may stick with this version until HC is available, but we'll see.
EDIT: clemsyn's kernel didn't fix my audio issue after all.
Calkulin's + clemsyn. Recently discovered Calkulin's and impressed with the performance.

Anyone benchmark it at all? Like browser tests especially because that is where WebOS was infuriating.
Sunspider and Browsermark primarily. Also would be amazingly interested in seeing page load tests of a WebOS Touchpad next to a CM7 touchpad, if anyone has two of these things.

For what it's worth, touchstone won't charge
it puts it in dock mode, it trips the charger icon so you think it's charging, but it won't actually charge
kinda stinks, that's a major major bug to me
but I guess that's why it's called an Alpha build

Loving it. Hadn't touched my TP for months and had no hesitation to flash the alpha. I'd say for an alpha it is way ahead of most alphas. I'd almost call it a beta, but I guess some of the bugs, (like the wifi losing connection once in a while) are too big to be beta.

I read you can just grab maps and google apps that wont show up in the market from your phone and move them over. Just grab the .apks off the internet if you want. I just transferred over my TI Backup file and am reinstalling all the apps I want now, g maps is working for me.
I installed last night and so far it's great. The performance is great, no lags, all the apps I need\want have installed without any problems. The only issue I've had so is the battery drain makes it unresponsive so I had to power + home until it rebooted.
I got it loaded but the moboot option and recovery options did not work...so I could not boot back into webos. So I just flashed it back to Webos with the doctor. I think I will give it a little more time for the bugs to get hammered out.
Absolutely LOVE it. Super slick and fantastic for an Alpha build. 90% of the things i want for the tablet install and work without a hitch.
One nice surprise, my WebOS portion of my Touchpad was NOT wiped out in the installation. I booted into WebOS earlier, and to my surprise, everything was intact and exactly how it was left pre-CM7 install. I've been playing with it all day, and i must say, battery life has been great thus far. Tablet is showing almost 7hrs of use (display ON for about 5hrs) and still has 40% battery left!
love it. But it wiped everyhig on my webos. So now I have to figure out how to put my pictures and videos back
Overall I haven't had any problems. Can't wait for future updates
No issues except for wifi issues.
I'm running CM7, and I think it runs really well for an alpha release. I've had minimal problems and most problems are easily corrected and there are some workarounds appearing already.
Flashed CM7 yesterday. Seems more like a Beta than a Alpha build. I tried most of my apps and they work without issue. CM7 runs very well with minor hiccups. Some things I did after seeing others have issues
1-Wifi sleep policy set to never
2-Use Setcpu to OC to 1.5 and undervolt at 384 and I have no issues with the device waking up
3-Use the app "Myappsharer" to send the APKs from my Thunderbolt to the tablet and they install with no issues
4-Before I flashed CM7 I made a copy of everything on the TouchPad to my laptop in case it got wiped out.
This was my first time trying WebOs the past few weeks and I kind of liked it. I do not think I will be going back to it though. I definitely prefer the customization of Android.
I am really liking CM7. I installed it this evening and it seems to be chugging along. I was able to install Order & Chaos on it, but I had to change the build.prop in order to get it to run. It played better than I would have thought, for an Alpha version of the OS. I am going to try and overclock it to see if that smooths out the game.

VeganTab 5 crashed - Time to upgrade?

Hello - I've been using Vegan Tab 5 since I got my gtablet last Christmas. It has been pretty nice except that the power/screen button always glitches, and every so often corrupts the profile and I have to wipe all my user data and start fresh.
I have the market, flash/hulu, and the camera working. So my question is, since I just had to wipe it again and start over, what is/is there a current, most stable installation I can use that will have the same features - market, wifi, flash/hulu, camera, and does not crash and force a wipe from the damn power button?
Gingerbread? Honeycomb? Flashback? Beasty/Clemsyn Ultimate Froyo?
If there are awesome new features in newer ROMs that don't have a working camera (I think I read something about that in Honeycomb) let me know. My daughter will be disappointed but thats ok
Thanks

While I do agree Flashback ROM is very pretty, I've had zero luck with Flashback ROM concerning a fully working and stable Flash Player. I watch a lot of streaming videos on my gTab on Hulu, CBS, FOX, Amazon Prime, etc... and I've tried with Flashback 10.1 and 10.3 and neither of them would let me watch videos via Flash Player.
So, after trying VEGAn 5.1.1, CyanogenMod 7.0.1, VEGAn Ginger, Mountain Laurel 3.1.0, and Flashback 10.1/10.3 I've come back to VEGAn 5.1.1 because it's the most stable and fastest for me (with pershoot's latest FroYo kernel).
I've also used VEGAn 5.1.1 off and on for the better part of a year but haven't had the issues the OP is reporting where my profile gets corrupt forcing a wipe/restore. I guess I've been lucky.

From my experience, funny things happening is usually due to corruption data.
NVflash/wipe usually restore most functions.
I don't use flash much, so I didn't care much about streaming.
I'd just tried out Beasty/Clem Ultimate...It is very fast and stable as well...
Thanks for the advice. Flash is pretty important for me, so it sounds like I'm using the right build for my needs.
I wish i didn't have issues with the power button, but wiping/flashing isn't the end of the world. It doesn't happen very often, but occasionally when the screen sleeps, the button won't bring it back up. After few tries the tab reboots and then sometimes i end up with a corrupt profile and it wont startup.
I'll learn to live with it.
Thanks again

I had this problem as well. I read a post on this site to use a program on the Market Place called Wifi lock or Wifi keep alive, seems to work for me. The problem is when the Wifi goes to sleep.
As for the new ROM I have just upgraded to Vegan Tab 7.1 files can be found here

Do not upgrade Google Maps this will cause force close for maps you need to stay on an older version I’m using 5.5.0.

Eclipse vs CM7DX2

So, i'm running Eclipse 2.0 on my DX2 right now, and i flashed it after trying CM7. CM7 was great, but felt sluggish at times (admittedly I don't believe that I had the "allow purging of assets" enabled at the time either). So after flashing the brand new Eclipse 2.0, I felt like Eclipse was so much more complete, even though it is blur-based. Now, however, after about 3 weeks it's getting sluggish at random times for no reason. There's no apparently eating up the CPU. I always have 80+ MBs of RAM (I'm running Supercharger V6 with the middle (unleaded?) option for 512mb devices selected). I can't seem to pinpoint the problem. So here's where I pose 2 questions:
Eclipse or CM7DX2 (and your reasoning, if you can)
And any ideas on the sluggish performance? I've had this happen on previous ROMs too (older Eclipse models and stock gingerbread w/ bloat removed). I always SBF and wipe data/cache before each fresh ROM install.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear Eclipse is running sluggishly. I've been running it for a while now and it's completely reliable, the epitome of a "daily driver". Are you running any funky apps or getting apps from fringe markets?
I've found either one can get sluggish, especially if you have a ton of apps loaded.
What I've been doing now is rebooting daily. I'm also running Fast Reboot Pro, which is really more of a "soft" reboot - it doesn't really reboot the phone, per se, but instead it "simulates" a reboot by stopping many services and programs that wouldn't be running at start up.
I myself have a lot of apps installed. I should probably go and remove them, but for some reason, I like to have them loaded (mainly games) just in case I want to play them. OCD anyone?
In any case, I was running CM7 and I'm now running Eclipse 2.1. I've found that I've had the problems in either one which required a reboot. I just switched to Eclipse 2.1 because I found it a wee-bit more stable (no Superuser issues like in CM7) and Eclipse 2.1 has a even more Motoblur crap removed. It's just as responsive as CM7 IMHO.
But, in any case, a daily reboot will fix things and I'm hearing from many that this is almost global across the board with any ROM for the DX2. I think what really hurts the DX2 is the 512mb of main memory. Just pitiful compared to other phones out there.
I've also found running V6 Turbocharger scripts (the latest) helps as well. I've enabled options 6 and 20. Now, this is fine for Eclipse, but you don't want to run it with CM7. At least, that's what I've been told.
Anyways, when I find things get sluggish, I run the Fast Reboot Pro AND, since I'm running Go Launcher EX, I'll got into the "Running Programs" tab in the app drawer and close all the apps in there as well.
If that doesn't help, I then run V6 TC and run option 18 (which recoups RAM and kills lag). If that doesn't help, then I will reboot.
I also forgot to mention, I also use an application called Autostarts. It allows you to choose which apps start up based on a system event (during startup, after startup, USB connection/disconnect, WiFi status change, etc). I've found that a LOT of apps that I've installed start up on some various events. Many games apparently like to connect when they sense there is a data connection present, so I've turned those off. I only want the apps running when I actually launch them. With Autostarts, I have been able to finely control what apps start and when, which has helped as well.
go into BSR and wipe cache and dalvik cache
lemme know if that clears up Ya,lag
it worked for someone else and I've used that method before to clear up lagging issues...

also, you know eclipse has a 2.1 version out now correct?

I agree wholeheartedly with the above statement, they are nearly equals in every respect except for SU and most of the time it depends on the user. You will have your own opinions of what you like and dislike in a ROM.
I have always liked Cyanogenmod and I have nothing against Eclipse, it was something that really saved the X2 for me, I was super POed when I found that there was so little to be done with my phone last August when I upgraded to it.
IMHO I would stick with Eclipse just because it is more stable, Cyanogen was a great release from the norm of Moto based ROMS but it is missing a few things since we cannot build it specifically for our phone as easily as everyone else.
Personally though, I hate you guys for being able to flash things right now and I really, really cannot wait for this F-ing soak to come through so I can either join you on 2.1 or have a really fancy paper weight.....
I've been running Eclipse for months, 2.1 for a few weeks now, best version yet. I run it with the build prop mash up, its always fast and responsive. However there are a couple things I do to help ensure that.
1. I schedule "Clear cache for user & system apps" in TB to run daily at 4:30 AM while I'm sleeping which is 30 minutes after my daily backup runs. After the cache clean it reboots. When I get up at 5:30 its usually quick and responsive all day.
2. Use the Moto performance manager built into Eclipse parts, schedule things that you don't want or need running in the background to auto-end (kills the app 2 minutes after the screen shuts off) This really helps with battery life as well, I can usually get 20+ hours of light/moderate use and it helps manage those apps that like to turn themselves on in the background.
3. I use Avast for security, but I also use the firewall feature to restrict network access of games & apps that don't need it.
4. I keep any apps/games I don't use regularly uninstalled, which I can quickly restore from TB if I need them. That seems to really help to as my wife had every free app of the day from amazon installed on hers and it was constantly locking/freezing. she cleaned most of them up and did the auto-end trick and hers has come back to life.
These are just suggestions but I've been using them for months now and they really work well to maximize the X2 as much as we can given the restrictions we have on it. Goodluck.

iBolski, the similarities between yours and my "phone management" techniques scare me lol.
pretty much everything you have said I do as well, including leaving games installed just in case I wanna play one day lmao
I just wanted to add to the point you made about rebooting once every day, this is something that it's not only recommended for the Dx2 but for ALL, Android powered phones in general, I do believe it is also written in the "manual", that comes with the devices, kinda like how a PC needs a reboot once in a while, Android benefits from a reboot once a day as well, allows it to drop system caches that have built up and are hanging around and such,
that fast reboot app I have also used in the past, but nothing compares to an, accrual power cycle of the device, I will even go ahead and wipe cache from Android recovery as well once every couple days,
our set UPS are most likely extremely similar and I've found I get pretty damn near the most I can get out of this x2, I feel like the only thing else I could benefit from is a new kernel, as I've pretty much tweaked this thing to the max I can get while locked down

I think we're so similar due to the fact that I've seen you tell people to do this, so I'm just following your instructions. Scary, huh?
Also, Orange Terror gave a great tip that I didn't even know existed in Titanium Backup Pr. Goes to show you can always learn something new since I've used TBU for about two years now. I've gone in and set up a schedule to clear user and app cache and reboot the system every day around 4 am. At 3 am, I have it backup and upload to my Box account. Now I don't have to worry about doing that myself or missing a backup.
But I think the big thing that has helped me out now is also the Autostarts app. Going through and having it ensure certain apps don't launch under various scenarios has definitely caused my phone to be MUCH more responsive now.
Like you, it's allowed this crap X2 to actually be functional, along with Eclipse 2.1 and/or CM7. With DZK and Nitro, I'm not sure where this phone would be. Probably thrown against the wall and shattered into a million pieces!

Amen to that. Thanks to Nitro, DZK and anyone that has contributed something.
I've been trying to start synching to box through TBU recently, but I can't schedule it to run automatically and when I try to run it manually after an hour its at like 20%, and I'm doing it on wifi. And it won't upload to my dropbox account at all, just sits there. Any suggestions?

well I know quote a few people seem to trust my set up lol
that auto starts app sound like it worth checking into also, thanks for the tip!
Thanks for all the responses guys! It's great to see some insight as to what everybody does on their daily schedule.
1. Yes, i do know there is 2.1, I just haven't had the time/availability to upgrade (until tonight, so i'll probably be doing that).
2. I'm admittedly bad at keeping a LOT of apps installed feeling like i'll need to use them, probably would be better off if i just kept them either frozen or only kept a backup.
3. As with you, iBolski, i've been running option 6 in V6 and that definitely helps a lot.
4. I'll have to try the nightly cache clearing, i usually just manually do it when i feel the phone is laggy.
Also, what launchers do you guys use? Just outta curiosity. I personally use LauncherProPlus. Yeah, the development is dead, but I've been using it since my OG Droid days, and it's served me excellently ever since. I don't need beauty in a launcher, just raw speed and a small footprint.
Thanks again!

just a tip for when you update to 2.1
you really shouldn't need to wipe data, I haven't wiped data once when updating from 2.0> 2.xand I have had zero issues,
also, nitro has added a couple features/options to the stock eclipse launcher which are nice, u can choose amount of home screens, infinite loop, uninstall app when u long press then hold it over the trash can for a second (pretty useful, no more needing To go into manage apps to uninstall apps)
if ya wanna venture from that I recommend adw ex or go launcher ex(nitro has an eclipse theme in the market for go launcher in case ya wanna support him (it's like a buck) and wanna keep an eclipse theme with a different launcher that has more options)
either that or just do a quick market search or Google search for "light weight launcher" to get some nice options, there's an almost endless list of launchers to try, I've spent hours trying different launchers and still haven't touched half of them lol, there is so many choices it's crazy, there is something for every type of user, from minimalistic launcher to fancy ones like spb shell and such

I'm using Go Launcher EX myself. Have been since I ran an LG Vortex (now THAT was a SLOW phone but man, as far as music goes, it never skipped unlike the X2. Sad since it's an ARM6 600mhz single-core phone AND it had an unlocked bootloader so I could overclock the thing!).
For launchers I started with pro launcher. Then ended up with go launcher for a while. Now I am using adw ex. However I really like the new work nitro did with pro launcher. I would of stayed on it except for the 3D app drawer. Don't get me wrong it looks awesome and I used to use similar app drawer with the shell launcher but it triggers my vertigo.

I also use ADW EX, it has been the most consistently bug free for me depending on the settings you use it can be lightning fast or just as bad as a stock launcher, but generally it is much faster than the stock ones and it is more user friendly.
Love all the insight here. I was running cm7 for a while but now on eclipse 2.1 and I haven't wanted to go back to cm7 yet. I also usually use adw ex but have been sticking with stock launcher. This go around. I reboot my phone at least once a day. I haven't tried any scripts yet but I haven't felt the need to iether. I try too keep as few apps running as possible. I also found that after I get done charging my phone I will reboot. Seems to give me more free ram. 185mb right now.

CM7 rocks. Once CM9 becomes stable and a beta it will most likely be the best ROM on the X2.

I must say, after upgrading to 2.1, uninstalling 34 apps (mostly large games) that i seemingly never used, and installing the build.prop mash up, i haven't had any issues yet so far! 2.1 seems to be quite the upgrade from 2.0. Thanks to everybody who posted their experience/ideas!
I started experiencing even more lag lately and it would immediately show up even after reboot. This started happening after I set up TBU to do a nightly cache clean and reboot.
What I finally figured out was, V6 Turbocharger scripts mem settings were not sticking! They were reverting back to the default for whatever reason. It was funny because the Lag Nullifier was still active.
So, I unturbocharged and everything via the scripts and set it back up to use local.prop and that seemed to fix everything.
Another thing I did was install Autostarts to tell it what apps should NOT start when certain system events occur (during startup, after startup, media change, etc).
I also used the Motorola Performance Manager to set up most apps to be killed two minutes after the phone goes to sleep.
I reinstalled Widgetlocker and things have been running smooth all day where as before, after playing many games (like Templerun, Fruit Ninja, Sims Free to Play, etc), I would notice lag would seep in and would require a reboot to fix it.
Now, with my set up (TBU clears cache and reboots nightly, Autostarts, Motorola Performance Manager, V6 TC), things are running smooth, smoother than they have before.
