[Q] Use Android WITH Bluetooth modem. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Tried googling and found lots to use android as a bluetooth modem but not with one.
Basically I don't like smart phones so have a 'dumb' phone, it's a Sony Ericsson Elm, pretty feature packed for what it is and the price. Anyway, I also have a HP Touchpad running Cyanogen mod 7.1 Alpha 3, this doesn't have 3G so can't be used elsewhere, My phone can't do wifi tether so that leaves one option, Bluetooth!
My phone can be used as a bluetooth modem. I just don't know how I would get android to use this, could someone help, would be so so useful for me. Thanks.

Anyone, please? Be so useful to me.

No-one knows?

Bumpity bump.

[Q] Is there a vanilla 2.2 ROM?

Hey guys,
I've spent a lot of time here on XDA and around the internet and I can't seem to find an answer to my problem. I've been looking for a week or so, on and off.
I really would like to use my Vibrant for some mobile gaming, including some of the emulators that are available on the Market. What I would like to do is use the Wiimote Controller application alongside the emulators, because I never feel very comfortable using a touch-screen game pad.
The trouble is that for some reason, Samsungs Galaxy S line of phones will not sync up with the Wii Remote via Bluetooth. Most if not all HTC devices have been able to sync up, so I know the Wii Remote is capable of it. I spoke to the developer of the application and he said that for some reason the SGS line of devices just won't do it. He suggested a while back that flashing a stock-Android ROM should solve that problem.
My question, then, would be is there a Vanilla ROM based on 2.2 or do you guys know of a ROM that will accomplish what I'm going for? Right now I am using Frankin-TWIZ by Eugene and I love the ROM but the Wii Remote problem is still there.
So, I appreciate any advice and suggestions that you guys can offer and I do apologize if a similar thread has been started elsewhere, I really couldn't find anything.
Thanks so much,
Nate
Vanilla 2.2 will not help you here. The problem is in the Samsung implementation of Bluetooth. Bluetooth v3.0 + HS is on the virge of existence, but is not yet a fully ratified standard. Samsung used this fact to be able to release a device they call Bluetooth 3.0, but since there is no standard yet they can do whatever they want with. Apparently what they wanted was to not support Bluetooth game controllers.

So, I'm assuming there is no way for a Samsung Galaxy S device to use an older implementation of Bluetooth?
Thank you for your help, I really do appreciate it, this has been bugging me for a while haha
You should be able to gleam more information from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746489
I am not saying that it is not possible, just that the ROM is not the issue, but rather the Bluetooth implementation is. It almost feels as if Samsung did this intentionality.
As far as I am aware all the ROMs here are based off either Samsung source or Samsung leaks. A TRULY vanilla ROM to get the original Bluetooth implementation would mean building it from Google source, which would be sans drivers and you would need to make everything work with your hardware by building your own drivers. I don't think you are going to find this just yet.
You could try CM 6.1, but it is not stable or final yet on the vibrant and I don't really know if it fixes the Bluetooth issue.
Everything works great with my MotoROKR S305 Stereo Bluetooth Headset, and that is all I really care about.

[Q] T-PRIME wont tether to droid x

Hello everyone. I just purchased a new transformers prime & keyboard. I have a rooted droid x running miui pics rom. Now the droid x can tether to my notebook. Can tether to my viewsonic gtablet. But won't tether to my transformer running ics. 4.0. Appreciate any help & advice. Thank you
Get the new system update and try again.
appreciate it
Hey thanks. I'm going to have to re-rom my dx. From miui to liquid gb. Because I suspect its the miui ROM. I had two friends one with a rooted dx another with a rooted Samsung & thy both were able to tether that transformer with no problem. As for the update I read about it. Its supposed to be Android adhoc friendly. Thank u. Always appreciate good advice

I don't know if this info helps, but I have a Droid X with unrooted stock Gingerbread on it. I am able to do bluetooth tethering to my Prime with built-in bluetooth functionality, and I am also able to do WiFi tethering with the FoxFi app (without paying a tethering fee).
very intresting
Hello JKVATO. that is very a interesting statement I'm going to look into Bluetooth tethering & that foxfi app. Isn't that funny I'm rooted & ROMed up & can't even tether to a brand new transformer but other people can. Something is wrong with that picture. I like Miui. But if i can't tether my TPRIME. That is not acceptable!
Tether
Hello, at some point I needed to edit some wpasupplicant files to successfully tether. If I can find the post I'll link it.
Well yes I was reading about changing & or editing the wpa supplicant files. & I considered trying it. & still may have to but I'm going to install another rom(liquid gb) & see if that works if you post that file edit information it would be greatly appreciated. I still don't understand how come some people can tether the TPRIME with no problems & others can't the transformer is by far one of the best Android computer devices on the market I hope that development continues to grow for it

tethering two android phones over bluetooth

I know it is possible to tether android tablet to an android phone via bluetooth so the tablet can use phone internet. Is it possible to do the same with two android phones? I know it's doable over wi-fi, but bluetooth uses less battery.
in this specific case two phones in question are thunderbold and incredible. thunderbolt is rooted, incredible is not but I can root it if needed to make this work.
thank you

Thank you.
Finally I installed ICS on my incredible and paired both phones but still can't tether. any ideas?
I still need help with this.
I rooted my incredible, flashed ICS ROM and installed wifi tether 2.7, there is a bluetooth tether option there.
my thunderbolt has BAMF SoaB and bluetooth tether is greyed out in wifi tether app.
according to my research, it's a kernel issue, I need kernel that has "CONFIG_BT_BNEP". I tried flashing several different kernels with no success.
if anybody is successfully running bluetooth tether on their thunderbolt, please let me know which kernel you have installed.
thank you
on galaxy ace doesn't work :-??
This would be very nice if anyone could get this working.
I've had my Moto Xoom paired and using my phones internet via bluetooth many times, but I think it would be convenient to share by Droid 4's internet with my old D2 as well.
Has anyone had any luck with this besides using a WiFi hot spot and draining your battery in a couple hours?

[Q] Any ROMs?

Hello, I recently found a TP2 taking care of my dust and I was wondering if there are any Android ROMs for the phone. I know there are some, but I wanna know what's the ROM with the newest version of Android.
Thanks.

the newest android version you can get is 2.3.7 gingerbread
thanks to xdandroid

battery indicator is kinda broken and also my phone used to overheat.... alot. there's also the froyo build (2.2 version), which might be more stable.
you have to find out for yourself which one works the best.
there's also an android 4 rom, but lots of features are not working. check it out yourself.

Why do you say the wifi doesn't work? I've been using Android on my Rhodium since June 2012 and I don't have problems with wifi--bluetooth, yes, but not wifi.
What makes you say it doesn't work? Is it not showing any wireless networks?
what version of the rhodium do you have? RHOD100? RHOD400? I have a RHOD400, and the devs are also using RHOD400's. They don't guarantee complete functionality on non-RHOD400's (that's actually mentioned somewhat by wizardknight at the end of post #1 of the GBX0* thread that wizardknight linked above
Hello, I too am having lots of troubles with finding a ROM that will work on my RHOD300. I started the whole install with a GBX_3.4.35_Full, then the GBX_3.4.26.13_FULL then the OMGB 1.2.3 May 4 and finally the OMGB Jan 16, and all of them have given me a non-working wi-fi. When I enable the bluetooth it actually turns on ok.
I've been using my HTC TP2 for 4 years as a WinMO phone and finally decided that I'd give this Android thing a try. The wi-fi has been working for me all along.
When I first installed the GBX it was giving me Wi-Fi error (viewing in Wireless & network settings). After I switched to the OMGB ROM I'm now getting a Wi-Fi turning on... and the option is grayed out.
I've been searching around and reading through these forums and I'm trying to find solutions, but nothing seems to work. The wifi-nvram-generic.txt file option I wish I could try but unfortunately I don't know the phones mac address without booting back into a WinMo phone.
I would be grateful if somebody could help me sort this out as I really do need to have wifi on my phone, otherwise my smart phone isn't so smart after all...
I've taken my RHOD100 out of the dust, and fired it up to NAND flash it with te 2.3.7 xda ROM. I used the GBX0*+3.4.26.13 Full for my device. Although it's not very snappy, it's acceptable after recalibrating the touch screen. Don't expect miracles. Wifi is working fine. Haven't tested BT yet.
The 3.4.35 version did boot a bit, but didn't get past the bootscreen, which seemed to be in an unending loop.
I doubt the GPS is working.. GPS test didn't get a fix in 15 minutes and did not see any satelites. Also no support for front camera... but hey.. who cares

How would I go about having my PS3 and my phone work with each other?

A while ago I ran across this app called Blueputdroid. It worked on my Boost Mobile LG Mach and it was incredibly handy. The thing is that now, the app is pretty much dead. As far as I researched, I found that it doesn't work beyond a specific version of Android. I can't recall which Android version it was. I was wondering if there was any way to recreate something similar to this. Something more updated. Im now using a Samsung GS3 TriBand Boost Mobile running Oct-L. My goal is to be able to use my phones mic with my PS3 via Bluetooth, even via USB if possible.
