so I went from a G2 to a sensation and I've been very pleased except for the data reception, I live in a 2g/edge area, my G2 used to get about 256mbps off of our tower but the most I have even seen from the senny is like 95mbps.
Anyone know if the amaze gets better signal strength on edge/2g?
I'm also looking for any other information that could help me decide what to do,

I went the exact same route.. G2 to Sensation to Amaze. In my area I definitely think that the Amaze has the best radio of the three. I get more consistent 4G coverage with it. Could be quite different for you however. I guess the one downfall would be that with the G2 and Sensation we had s-off and a variety of radios available to flash to try and get better reception or data coverage. We don't have that luxury with the Amaze unfortunately and no solution in sight. Much better overall phone however!
And I am almost on the same path.. HD-HD2-DHD-Sensation and now thinking of an AMAZE..
Cant make up my mind as I have no particular reason as to why i should retire my sensation...
Is it really better?
I went from G2 to Amaze and its night and day difference. On the G2 I only had edge at home with the Amaze I get two bars of 4G. G2 was a great phone and I miss the keyboard but I wouldn't go back.

Hi folks,
I don't own an Evo 3D at the moment but I am considering getting one, however one thing I'd like to find out, is if the Evo suffers from a weak phone signal at all? I'm asking as I've gone through 3 Incredible S phones that had issues here at home on the UK O2 network, I don't really want to find myself in the same situation.
Thanks in advance.

From experience, can only speak for the CDMA version of the EVO 3D.
There are many times occasions where I'm in weak signal areas for Sprint and this device, much quicker than my Nexus S, will roam onto another carrier's signal which is stronger. Personally, I think this has been overall positive as I'd rather have a strong roaming signal than a weak native signal.
Some might find this a disadvantage if their cell plan doesn't support roaming or simply prefer not to roam.
The only significant difference I've notice is this device seems to switch signals/networks much quicker than my previous EVO or Nexus S.
Hopefully somebody with the GSM version can also post up. Hope this helps!
I'm using GSM EVO 3D in low signal area. My first phone (Handspring) loosing signal in this are totally, with the second one (Nokia) I can talk in some home areas, with EVO 3D I can talk in most home areas - so at least the GSM EVO 3D sensitivity slightly better than Nokia premium phone (N900).
Thanks for the info so far. I'd very much appreciate some replies from UK users if there are any?
Just wondering if anyone has switched to the amaze from the evo3d. Tired of sprint where I live and am thinking about jumping to tmo. I dont know how hard the 3d will be to give up though, so if anyone has, do you miss it at all?
I just switched my service over and had the evo 3d on sprint. This phone is basically the same as the evo 3d so if you like the evo like I did you will also like the amaze. Sprint service has been terrible for a while so I made the switch and now I actually have service in the apartment. The network speed is also really fast compared to Sprint plus I am saving a lot. I couldn't get 1mbps on spring 3g and the wiimax is a joke. On t mobile I am getting nearly 10mbps even in my apartment.
I also had the 3d, I can tell you that this phone is a lot smoother and as for data speeds t Mobile smokes Sprint. Even on the rarities that I don't have full signal strength it is just rediculously faster than Sprint.

how much do you guys miss the 3d function? I dont use it alot but when I do I love it. Been trying to hold out for tmo to get a 3d handset, but I'm about over sprint at this point.
With the quality of the pics you get with the amaze you'll be glad you switched. I only used the 3d function for the first couple of days so I personally don't miss it. The quality of the amazes cam is pretty outstanding.

The savings, faster data speeds and better coverage for me trumps 3D. I may used it once or twice but I am not big on taking pics with the phone. I prefer my dedicated camera.
I had the Evo 4g for ten months and jumped the ship to T-mobile. I didn't like the changes that Sprint was and wasn't doing. The stores got to the point were no employee could help me, I go to pay my bill and they couldn't look the info up but when Shentel ran the show they could. Also the fact that they have the smallest/slowest nonexpanding 4g market was just plain sad. Sorry ending rant, this phone and carrier are both amazing.
Currently looking at the S3 or the EVO right now to change up from my S2 (it's starting to mess up hardware wise) While I love my S2 there were always issues with Samsung radios and being for lack of a better word piss poor signal wise. Just kinda looking for some info oh what you guys think about your EVO's and radio signal as well as hardware vs the S3. I can read reviews all day long but looking for some real word use from actual owners who have been using the phone for a few.
anything helpful would be great
Thanks
And ermf wrong forum (at school and tired meh)
Edit
I'm not worried about the LTE issues I've been reading about right now as Seattle does not have any LTe coverage (and from the looks of it were not getting it till sometime next year) So this would be 3G based radio performance that I'm asking about.
I don't have any signal issues. I have a few dropped calls now and then but I think that's a Sprint issue. Camera and camera software is topnotch. Speaker sounds good. Bluetooth works good. WiFi and data act weird sometimes, seems like the phone has a rough time switching between the two. Proximity sensor sometimes doesn't work right in low light situations. All in all I think it's a good phone. Runs fast, sense reloads once in awhile.
Agreed...the phone is solid, I'm happy I went with it instead of the gs3. Sprint's service on the other hand...

Eh I'm ok with the Sprint service here (at least for me) The S2 has been solid for me just recently it's been having reboot issues out of no where even with pure stock so I know it's hardware issues which I'm going to get it replaced but I've been looking at the S3 and the EVO as well to replace it. Reading the forums it's looking like some are having issues with 3g and most are having issues with LTE which like I said honestly does not bother me being as I have not LTE here in Seattle for awhile :/
Yeah, we in Seattle are hosed for a while
If you get the Evo, bear in mind, there is currently no S-off method for the version you'll likely get. I haven't had any WiFi issues like other poster mentioned and I love this device.
That said, posting here, you're likely to get biased advice. Hopefully you posted in both forums.

never had any issues with radios or signal.
I've got a Inc2 on PagePlus. I love the phone but it gets TERRIBLE reception. I live in a rural area, and am sick of dropping calls... so I'm thinking of stepping up to a Rezound. But being I have to buy my phone outright (used) I wanted to know if anyone had owned both and could let me know if the Rez is better or same as Inc2.
Thanks!!
I think it is the same or slightly worse. Of course there have been a few radio updates for the rezound that may have improved it since i used the incredible 2. Remember there are some areas that have poor cdma reception but solid lte, in which case you'd be better of with the rezound foot data.

Thanks, Bacon. To use the Rez on PagePlus, I have to flash it. So that means 1RTT max data, so no LTE.
The rezound has better signal reception than the thunderbolt. Many has said the incredible 2 is basically a smaller version of the bolt minus 4g and a few other things. I don't think you could go wrong with the rezound. Just a comparison my bolt I was lucky to get 2 bars where I live compared to the rezound I get 4. Good luck on your choices.

Rumblur I don't know about Inc2 but i had to return Samsung Galaxy Nexus because it drop calls and got Rez and all's well. Maybe the antenna in the case back better location.

Thanks all. I'm waivering.... I can get an Inc1 for $50 or a Rezound for $150, around here (used). I figure my Inc2 will pull $100 so it's not a huge issue financially... but what I really need is someone much smarter than I, to figure out how to get it on PagePlus with 3g! Then I'd be one happy camper
I know I know... I live in a dream world where Verizon doesn't cripple every phone in some way or another
The Rezound gets great reception vs other comparable smartphones.
i am on rezoundand my mom uses inc2. have to say rezound's display is brilliant and cpu is clearly faster than inc2. but... inc2 outweigh much more as for battery life.

The trick for me is, the Rezound would be great... but I'm on Page Plus, and they can't do 4G/LTE phones yet. So I'd have to get it flashed so it could be activated. The trouble with THAT is according to everything I've read, is the data is limited to 1RTT, no 3G. Sooooo.... what to do? My Dinc2 is a great phone, but the reception is killing me. I'm sick of having to be a contortionist or walk around in hopes of getting a good signal.
I'm considering making the move from Sprint to T-Mobile. I have the HTC One and I really like it, but the phone is not the greatest at maintaining an LTE signal, similar to how the Evo LTE was. I've read on here that the One on Verizon also has this issue. Since T-Mo is GSM, is the One on T-Mobile the same compared to other LTE phones on T-Mobile, or does it also not maintain an LTE signal as well as its counterparts?

Yea I saw that there was an update a couple of months ago that addressed LTE issues. Is that the latest radio update that you're referring to?
I have the phone for over a month. I'm in a strong LTE area. I've had zero issues.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
That's great to hear. I was concerned that the phone had issues holding it and would instead fall back to HSPA+ when the signal became weak.
Definitely not as good at maintaining lte as nexus 4 or s4, or even iPhone 5. The update changed the way lte is read, meaning, you will have more bars. But, as far as helping actual reception, it does not. You'll drop lte in all same areas.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
That might be market specific.
My TMO ONE is so much better with LTE after the .11 update.
It is as good if not better then my Note 2 and Nexus 4. I rotate between them but lately been finding my self liking the One a lot better..
Well the only thing I have to compare it to is my wife's S4. So far they seem about the same. And I guess if anything I can jump to something else in 6 months. What I don't like is when the signal is weak-ish, it drops the data connection. Just like my One on Sprint did. What's bothersome is that other phones don't seem to do this... Just the One.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yes, the data signal is not as good as the S4 at all. It's definitely noticeable however the voice recognition works infinitely better than the S4 so the tradeoff is fine for me.
My coverage and signal are vastly better with latest radio I flashed...I went through 5 or 6 different radios until I found this one. Of course different radios may perform better for you, but the best for me is:
