Hi, I installed the latest lite version and it feels really great, loving it
1. One issue I encountered is whenever I restart there is widget loading problem. Any solution for this?
2. For webtop via hdmi, should I install just the fruit cake 2.3.5 webtop addon or the whole thing (system + root)?
TIA.
Before flashing the Darkside rom did you do the flashboot erase command??
for webtop just flash fruit cake 2.3.5 and you will be fine

Flash 2.3.5 ROM, then flash 2.3.5 Webtop add on.
Thank you for the response, one more doubt.
If I flash fruitcake 2.3.5 system+root, then I suppose would no longer be on Darkside. Can't I stay on Darkside ROM and have webtop?

One way to find out, and that's try to flash the webtop add on over Darkside. Create a nandroid backup in CWM first so you can just flash back to the state you were in before flashing the Webtop if you need to.
Also, regarding your widget problem, try fixing permissions in ROM Manager, or if you can't do it that way, fix permissions in CWM. Should resolve the issue.

Should work just fine though, but back up...like was mentioned by the previous post.
^^Thanks 95rr900. Please give me instructions on how you did it? It would be very helpful as I really want to enable webtop TIA

If you already have darkside installed, just download the 2.3.5 webtop fruitcake from Samcripps thread. Flash it in cwm.
That's it

Here is a temporary download link for 2.3.5 Webtop until samcripp gets his links back up:

I just downloaded Faux123's Gingerbread 1.45 OC kernel and flashed via CWM, worked like a charm. If you want to OC your phone just go to Faux123's OP, choose the Gingerbread kernel you want and follow the insructions:

Be sure to thank her for the kernel

I mean, nothing was mentioned in the 1.3 update if it could be flashed as an independent rom or was to be flashed over 1.0.

1.3 is a full rom....not a patch...no need to install previous versions
Thanks ace5198 and nitroglycerine33.
I find both the replies contradicting each other, but I presume wiping data and clearing the caches, and then flashing 1.3 straightaway (like nitroglycerine33 says) should work(?).
Also, I will backup my current rom and settings via CWR. But in case something goes wrong and I need to restore my current rom (SC2.9.2v), what kernel will I have to flash to make things work again? I guess I read somewhere that the nandroid backup doesnt back up the kernel. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks.

Nitsuj17, your reply came just in time! Thanks for clearing that along with Nitroglycerine33!
PS: If its not too much of a trouble, for beginners it'll be great if it is mentioned in the Changelog (such as 1.3) that it is a full rom and can be flashed straightaway.

I suggest making a full backup in CWM, in case you want to swap back and forth. The webtop was updated for 2.3.5, I suggest finding a ROM that runs 2.3.5, like stock in the fruit cake thread, or The Dark Side full or lite version. You will need to flash the 2.3.5 webtop separately. Use the latest CWM, follow the instructions in the darkside thread and you can't go wrong. I did this, I can swap back and forth as a I choose.
Thank you sir! You are awesome!!!
I use Aura 1.2.2.2 (debloat), just flash this rom via CWM
It does not contain webtop but it has the ability to run it. All you need to do is to flash this zip (modified webtop) in CWM to get it running.
(thats a link to a CWM webtop found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169457
Another note, I would not try to use an overclocked kernel unless you found somewhere that its confirmed working with webtop. The one that comes with Aura works for me. I have heard the darkside roms work as well.
Good luck, and have fun with the laptopdock!
Is bootstrap recovery the same as clockwork recovery? Are they one and the same?
Also I'm on kernal 2.3.4 do I have to do anything special if I want to load a 2.3.5 rom?
Sorry I'm new to playing around with motorola phones.
I thought they were the same when I first started hacking my phone. But it turns out they are not the same.
As for updating your phone to 2.3.5, if you are on stock 2.3.4, all you need to do is root your phone, install bootstrap recovery and flash the 2.3.5 ROM using bootstrap recovery.
There is a nice guide someone put together in the dev. Section.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Basically, yes - those recoveries a almost the same. They are both used in the same way, which is to backup/restore, wipe data and flash a ROM. So there's no real difference.
As for the 2.3.4 kernel. SOME people can get away with flashing a 2.3.5 based ROM on their 2.3.4, others can't. Either way, I'd recommend just updating to 2.3.5 to safe. Plus (to me), 2.3.5 seems smoother and faster.
To Update to 2.3.5, just download the update.zip from here: http://www.multiupload.com/0ZT7FTOW0R
This is just the update file, so all you need to do is flash that, but I won't get into much about that.
If you need a guide on updating it, then you can look at this one right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391824
That's the one I used.
Ok so I'm currently on Molten 2.2 wich is a 2.3.4 romand was looking at liberty rom wich is 2.3.5 rom. So all I would need to do is just clear the needed data and flash it like any other rom?
The reason for asking about if it was clockwork was because in one of the roms the instructions says to use clockwork and I never saw a like to clockwork in the dev section
Yes I looked in the stickies first and these were just the questions that popped up that I didn't see the answer to it. I may have just over looked it but I figured I would ask before I borked my phone lol
looks like while I was writing a responce some one answered lol thank you all for your help
U don't need to root to install 2.3.5
It is signed by moto so we can flash in stock recovery
(actually that's how you SHOULD FLASH 2.3.5)
And our BSR is a hacked/ported cwm
To update to 2.3.5 you WILL need to be STOCK (you CAN be rooted but it will take away root when u flash it....just root again with zergrush...)

searching dev forum returned this list of firmwares http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125944. Find your country/carrier and go for it.
As an alternative, I have used Aura (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186990) and was better than stock for me and includes webtop.
If you feel adventurous again, try miui-us V4 2.3.16 also in the dev forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383721).
Hope I was able to help
Check the Fruitcake thread, stock roms are there.

You said your atrix is unlocked (or are you on Atrix2 since you mention Supercharged A2?), then root, install romracer's cwm for atrix and use cwm to reset, clear data and cache, then flash a rom of your choice.
All available in the dev section.

Downgrading the version risk bricking. I soft bricked mine when I went from 2.3.6(prior to a few ROMs) to 2.3.4.
I would:

You should think twice before you give out advice like that. Flashing through official methods is a sure way to brick your phone.
well, If I wanna to go back to stock i have stock SBF file, but I've got INTL Atrix so I won't get brick
I am considering making a youtube video of restoring my Atrix to stock using rsd because a lot of people think this is like crawling over a live landmine. It is totally *safe if you know what you're doing.

Simple. Just flash the 2.3.6 fruitcake and webtop as you suggested, then flash a Faux 1.3GHz GB kernel. Make sure to do a full wipe via fastboot first.
Don't flash SBF's. That should be considered a last resort!
