[Q] GPS don't get fix - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello to all,
I've been looking on this forum, searched for everything I wanted, and always get an answer, but this time I need to ask some experts here. As the title says the gps don;t want to get fix even on clear sky and without any building around. I used many programs one of it is "gps status" where are shown 0/11 fix, basicaly there are 11 satelites available I believe. I have tried almost all the roms available in the development section but none of them worked, even the cm7. Used another firmware and there is fix to this. If I use the original samsung rom untouched the gps is working normaly. Please let me know what I doing wrong?
Thanks,

GPS Fix for Samsung ACE
Hi. this is a fix for the Samsung Galaxy Ace, this fix reprogram the GPS
this setting program the GPS and allows it to connect in seconds.
you must be root
to install first download the fix
copy Fix GPS ACE.zip to the SD
Reboot into recovery
Flash Fix GPS ACE.zip from recovery
Reboot your phone

GPS is always slow.

Problem not solved with the files I'm wondering if the darktremor's app2sd affects? My app and dalvik cache are on sdext

Allright instaled now on oficial samsung 2.3.5 rooted, working good, if someone can explain what is wrong when changing the on other rom will be nice

Hello

Then I flashed the modem with another (DXKPD) and everything is back to normal.
here is my experience.

Hi have 7.2 and mine is not working with aura.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk

try fasterfix from the market.maybe it would help

Well for some reason my gps is working now, what I've done is flashing with odin a multiple file (my chose was a froyo firmware) the I flash with odin the latest ks9 one package file, working great even with cm7.2, got fix in 19 sec for me is great (also using the gps config from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320626
Thanks

Guys before you change the base band and all try Faster fix from the market.. worked for me.. now the gps gets locked in few seconds.. really useful app.. and also I recommend maps v5.8.. most of the time other versions gave me force closes when using navigation.. Hope this helps..

my gps always shoes "your current location is temporarily unavailable"

[Q] Broken GPS after flashing, Tried nearly every fix

So yeah, First I installed Villain Rom, everything worked fine expect the GPS was having some problems. So after trying some fixes I decided to try a different rom, so I jumped back to the stock rom... and the gps still didn't work I have been trying various roms/modems since and still nothing seems to fix the gps . Originally before I flashed my Galaxy s2 the GPS was amazing, super quick(1-3 seconds for a lock, super accurate even inside my apartment)
Here is currently what I have installed
Carrier: Bell Canada
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I9100MUGKG2(stock)
Kernal version: 2.6.35.11 ninpheramin (kept saying this was a link?? weird)
Build number: Lite'ning Rom V6.1 xxKH3
I have screwed with gps.conf to no end. I have tried tons of different files and checked the permissions, doesn't make a difference.
Fasterfix I have used many times, doesn't work. Although all this program does is change gps conf so no surprise.
GPS Status and toolbox: I have also used this lots, ever since the gps problem I can't get a fix on any sats. sometimes 1-3 show up, but its rare. I have tryed leaving it running for 20+mins and reset the AGPS data and downloaded the new....same problems.
So what do you think? The gps was GREAT right upto I flashed it for the first time, and has not worked since. Should I try going back to all the stock roms? Or could this be a problem with the modem im using? Please any ideas would be great. I have had this problem for about 2 weeks now, and have googled and tried nearly every gps fix I could find(even some for the Galaxy s) None of them have worked
There are a few thread about talking about corrupted efs data file, have a search, maybe its related and some help there.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I am having this problem too. Tried nearly every fix.
I changed ROMs, changed my gps.conf file in the root/etc/ folder, changed modems firmware, tried GPS Status app to "reset" GPS settings (left outside for hours until finally had 8/8 GPS fix) and all to no avail. My GPS sensor occasionally gets a lock but it is so unreliable.
I'm going to scour the forums again just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
This thread is the biggest: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062225&highlight=gps
So hopefully I'll find something new I missed last time I looked through it.
Prefer to test with a clean stock rom on a fully wiped phone especially after multiple flashing and other stuff.
Backup data Recovery mounts and storage format data cache system and sd card.
Download mode stock rom preferably original as GPS worked
Reset Custom rom counter to zero and phone can be returned under warranty if not fixed .

Will update you guys.
Meanwhile, if anybody has any solution your help will be highly appreciated.
EDIT: Broken GPS - Solution Found -
My GPS is giving me an accuracy of 15Ft in max 30 secs with at least 8 satellites indoors. I did the following:
1. Wiped all using CWM Recovery
2. Installed Litening ROM 2.7 ICS
3. Used this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239713
4. Kept my GPS on for 30 mins outside in the balcony
That's it!
Hopefully this will solve your problem too.

[Q] Need help getting Wifi Working on Samsung Galaxy S2 I777

So i was trying to Root my Samsung and I think i miss-understood the operations and processes.
Samsung Galaxy S2
Kernel 2.3.6
Downloaded SGH-I777-ATTGalaxyS2RootStockZedomaxKernel.tar
Installed, no problems, all good, but no wifi... freaking out.
Searched the Forum... found there was an issue.
Attempted to reload the stock kernel StockKernel-PDA.tar
Installed, no problems, back to 2.6.35.7 Gingerbread.UCKK6
But Wifi will not enable....
Kinda freaking out as Dont understand how the Zedomax and Stockkernel are 6/8mb... but the rest of the post are talking about a 200/300mb file which needs to be downloaded...
Just looking for help on how to get back WiFi?...
read thru: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286432
...If you bootloop or things behave wacky, enter 3e recovery (stock kernel means stock recovery) and do a Wipe Data/Factory Reset. If you are reverting from UCKK6 back to UCKH7 you MUST perform this step or wifi will not work.
I Did not go from UCKK6 to UCKH7... i don't think?? So any help on what i need to do would be awesome!
AT&T is the carrier.
Also without having to 100% wipe and re-install.
You need to find the "Return to stock" thread and go from there.
Zedo's kernel is ancient, it will not provide wifi with UCKK6 system images.
Only my kernel, the UCKK6 stock kernel, and (maybe, not sure) SiyahKernel will provide wifi with UCKK6.
Kernels are <8 MB. 300MB = full kernel and system image restore.
My guess is you flashed a UCKH7 stock kernel.
Found a return to stock thread and it mentions a RUU_Ace_Cingular_US_1.80.502.3_Radio_12.39.60.19_2 6.06.04.06_M_release_166557_signed.exe as well as a pd98img.zip which are also both 290MB...
Found another thread for Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2 Download but none are for USA/AT&T.
There are a LOT of thread on this and i have been reading thru as many as i can...
If the Stock Kernel or Entropy512 Stock kernel File name or description can be posted i can do the update thru odin...
On the Zedomax, i saw that after i flashed... never blindly trust youtube =(

Of the items you mentioned, NONE are for this device.
I suggest searching a bit more methodically - look in this forum subsection, and look at the sticky threads in the General and Development forums. Threads are made sticky for a reason.

Seriously, if someone can't distinguish which phone they actually own or what forum they should be in, why are they even trying to flash it? What is wrong with some people?

SHOstock2 v1.3 works well with WiFi if you want a custom ROM (ICS).
I was using UnNamed v2.2.1 and it was very stable, but I wanted to try Ics, so I'm now using the AOKP 4.0.4 but I'm having issues with the Gps, still doing some tests, if I dont find any, then I'll move to SHOstock2 v1.3

Sounds like it could be hardware failure. To test that, flash back to straight stock followed by a wipe data/factory reset from 3e recovery. If the problem persists, then it is either a problem with your phone hardware, or a problem with the available wifi router signal. You can test the latter by trying to connect on different routers.

Thanks for your response.
I dont want to belive that my hardware is broken.
But i flashed again my SGH-I777, and the problem persists.
My wifi just says "Turning on" when I push button, and it never boosts again.
I changed the kernel and the rom. I restored to old factory settings, and nothing works.
I would like to get back my wifi.
i appreciate your opinions about this issue.
WIFI suddenly stopped
My WIFI also suddenly stopped working
on 7-1-13 I installed aokp_i777_ota-eng-task650_6.24.2013 worked for a month
Yesterday the WIFI stopped connecting. Got a constant "Turning on Wi-Fi" message but nothing else
I installed aokp_JB_i777-ota-eng.task650-ktoonsez-11.20.2012 which I had been running for the last 6 months
Same problem
I did a full wipe. Wiped cache, data, dalvik. Did a fresh install, then wiped cache, dalvik and fix permissions.
Same
a i9100 thread linked a video of a leaking battery inside that disabled wifi
took phone apart, no obvious signs of hardware failure (have pics)
used odin3 v1.85 with ATTGalaxyS2Unroot_SGH-i777.tar to unroot
wifi will turn on scan for a minute then turn off -- will not find any AP
router working fine with my other i777
anything i missed?

hey brother, first of all, your wifi is not damage fisically. But you are in the same situation that i was.
my SGH-I777 is working very well after too much work with it.
i gave my cellphone to my little brother, and two days later he told that the wifi was working fine.
i made this face O_O i couldnt believe what he was saying.
right now i dont know, how he resolved the problem, the only things that he did was change the OS i guess.
i will call him tomorrow to ask about the solutions, but man, dont worry too much coz you just like my brother, will resolve the problem
It is not hardware...
found another thread that suggests FXR WiFi fixer app from play store.
Ran it on the the AOKP JB 4.1.2 from 11.20.20102
seemed to solve issue -- connected to wifi but lost connection after ~30 min
same issue -- constant "Turning WiFi on" message.
ran FXR again -- connects temporarily then loses connectivity
same thing every time i run FXR
should i use a different ROM?
which one?
any help is GREATLY appreciated
Thanks

You could ask in the AOKP thread if there are others experiencing wifi issues with that rom. If not, a fresh install of the rom may solve the issue. It definitely sounds like a firmware issue, but when there is any question whether the issue is firmware or hardware, the test is to flash back to stock and see how it works. As far as which firmware to use, there are a number of different firmware that are completely stable. You should read through the developer threads, and then try them out to see how you like them.

PACMAN ROM 20.1.0 & GPS Issues on Note II

Hey everybody,
First off, what an amazing community. I've learned so much and it's become really easy and fun to enhance my Android experience.
I have a Verizon Note II and decided to flash PACMAN ROM because of it's multiple interesting enhancements based on CM10.
Everything works amazingly well, except GPS just will not lock while "Wi-Fi & Mobile network location" (WF&MNL) is enabled in the "Location Settings" section.
When WF&MNL is enabled, (along with GPS of course), I cannot get a lock no matter how long I leave the device searching. When I launch any of the GPS status applications loaded from the play store, the satellites never show up at all, no signal bars, no activity, let alone do I get a lock. It's like it won't even try.
When I disable WF&MNL and try again, the satellites show up in seconds and I have a lock shortly thereafter. I can then re-enable WF&MNL setting and it will work until I reboot, and I've also seen it stop working when I try to run another GPS app later in the day.
So, for anybody who needs a workaround until you find your individual solution, or until a fix is released . . . I offer that up.
The problem is Google Now relies on WF&MNL, as do other applications/services, so that is not really an option to leave it off . . . all in all, the pro's outweigh the cons for this ROM and I love everything about it!!
Here is what have done so far to troubleshoot:
Restored my factory backup which was taken in TWRP immediately after the bootloader unlock and root - No issues there. GPS works.
Wiped Cache/Dalvik/System and installed CleanROM - No issues there, GPS works.
Wiped Cache/Dalvik/System and installed three different versions of PACMAN in this order 20.0.0, 20.0.1, and 20.1.0 - Didn't help
Tried installing different versions of GAPPS with each of the PACMAN ROMS (latest as well as the one linked in the OP) - Didn't help
Re-flashed the VRALL4 modem based on some suggestions - Didn't help
Inserted a modified GPS.conf file based on some suggestions - Didn't help
Tried to flash a GPS fix from another thread (sorry I can't find the thread to save my life at the moment, it was one with a "generic google" fix since the GNII wasn't on the list) - Didn't help
Restored my post root factory backup again and did not wipe cache/dalvik/system when flashing PACMAN - Didn't help
I read some threads about going back to factory and then rooting/flashing clean all over again. I would have gone that route, but other ROM's work with both location options enabled, so I'm not sure where to look next. I've searched the forums high and low and haven't gotten anywhere with the suggestions.
EDIT: I should have probably posted this in the questions section, I went to general when I was denied access to post in another thread I was following. Sorry for the noob mistake.
Its a problem with the cm based roms or aosp 4.2.2 i just leave wifi and network unchecked and if apps ask or watever i deny it and it works fine im on cm 10.1 and use my gps daily without issues i dont even notice a problem

I have installed PAC version 21.0.1 and GPS is not working at all. the icon doesn't even appear, nothing to lock on. my Baseband version is 12.69a.60.29U_26.17.14.11_M.
Anyone has an idea on what to change? (except switcging to another ROM)
Get a lock in another rom then immediately restore your backup of pacman while it's still locked

GPS broken since cm10.1 !!!

Hi guys,
I've got a big problem. Ich recently updated cm10.1 on my S3 and after that I realised that my GPS isn't working anymore.
The GPS was working under cm10.1 but it really suffered and took very long to find GPS signal.
That is what i tried already:
Clear data google framework
Install GPS test -> clear data
install different ROM -> paranoid android 3.15 ( i know its cm10.1 based)
restore my backup which i made right after rooting my phone ( my first one ; stock ROM)
I think the last thing i can try is to fully reset my phone on original sammyfom via Odin, the problem is i dont have a PC only a Mac and at work I dont have admin rights.
Is it necessary to have admin rights to flash via odin?
Any other tips odr suggestion?
Thank you
gps is a cm10 bug it doesn't work in AOKP too.
it takes loads to find a satellite.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I found a solution and wanted to let you all know.
Nothing but unroot and flash stock rom from sammobile worked out.
I had to reset everythin via odin and start over.
I'm now running cm10.1 v96 i think and GPS is working, not very well but in like 20 sec he finds GPS i can live with that.
best regards

(gp4) GPS not working after firmware updates

not sure if this is the wrong place to post this.
i was recently messing with roms on my yp-g1 galaxy player 4, installed a custom rom that messed up,
o ,
followed this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
I re installed the stock recovery images but I can no longer get the gps to acquire signal.
after this failed i installed steves kernel , and updated it to use the carbon rom firmware ,
But i still cant get the gps to get a signal
i read that this is a bug after you update firmwares,
but i am not sure where to get a radio firmware , and i already tried to restore to the factory firmwares and that didnt seem to have any effect..
help would be appreciated , i primarily use this device for geocaching , so without a gps signal its a brick for me...

you need to go back to absolute zero. follow the instructions in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850 to the letter, being sure to wipe the cache when it says to. also, make sure you install the proper stock rom (international or usa, which ever one is appropriate for your device, if you dont know, look at the top of the fourm i directed you to)
after that, try reflashing again, following the instructions to the letter. usually when these issues happen, it is because of something stupid like a cache not being wiped when it should.
good luck
last night i broke down and trashed out carbon , Witch I liked very much (after having it on for only 4 hours),
Dispite not being able to install Gapps no matter what version I used.:silly:
Repartioned twice, as well as wrote the usa firmware back 3 times ( after fudging /mount multiple times selecting a incorrect firmware file).
and put it back to pure stock. GPS still didnt work.
left gps status app running for the night on my desk just for kicks , After 5+ hours it managed to get a gps signal
crashed the gps app and then magicly the gps is working again.
i am probably too scared to go back to carbon or another firmware
What are the chances this would happen again if i re flashed back to carbon again ?
Don't know, but if I had to guess, unlikely if you follow the directions.
