Hi guys,
I've got a big problem. Ich recently updated cm10.1 on my S3 and after that I realised that my GPS isn't working anymore.
The GPS was working under cm10.1 but it really suffered and took very long to find GPS signal.
That is what i tried already:
Clear data google framework
Install GPS test -> clear data
install different ROM -> paranoid android 3.15 ( i know its cm10.1 based)
restore my backup which i made right after rooting my phone ( my first one ; stock ROM)
I think the last thing i can try is to fully reset my phone on original sammyfom via Odin, the problem is i dont have a PC only a Mac and at work I dont have admin rights.
Is it necessary to have admin rights to flash via odin?
Any other tips odr suggestion?
Thank you
gps is a cm10 bug it doesn't work in AOKP too.
it takes loads to find a satellite.

I found a solution and wanted to let you all know.
Nothing but unroot and flash stock rom from sammobile worked out.
I had to reset everythin via odin and start over.
I'm now running cm10.1 v96 i think and GPS is working, not very well but in like 20 sec he finds GPS i can live with that.
best regards

Hello to all,
I've been looking on this forum, searched for everything I wanted, and always get an answer, but this time I need to ask some experts here. As the title says the gps don;t want to get fix even on clear sky and without any building around. I used many programs one of it is "gps status" where are shown 0/11 fix, basicaly there are 11 satelites available I believe. I have tried almost all the roms available in the development section but none of them worked, even the cm7. Used another firmware and there is fix to this. If I use the original samsung rom untouched the gps is working normaly. Please let me know what I doing wrong?
Thanks,

try fasterfix from the market.maybe it would help
Well for some reason my gps is working now, what I've done is flashing with odin a multiple file (my chose was a froyo firmware) the I flash with odin the latest ks9 one package file, working great even with cm7.2, got fix in 19 sec for me is great (also using the gps config from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320626
Thanks
Guys before you change the base band and all try Faster fix from the market.. worked for me.. now the gps gets locked in few seconds.. really useful app.. and also I recommend maps v5.8.. most of the time other versions gave me force closes when using navigation.. Hope this helps..
my gps always shoes "your current location is temporarily unavailable"
I've been having this issue for a few days now and I haven't been able to solve it myself. I've been using a GB rom for the past few months (this one and it's always been working fine. Still, I wanted to try ICS so I got myself to install CM9 on the device, and while I was at it, updated the baseband to 72. However, since then, I've been unable to connect to Wifi. I can see Wifi networks, but as soon as I try to connect it gets stuck on "Connecting". I tried flashing other ICS roms and restoring the baseband, nothing works. Yesterday I put the rom back that I've been using succesfully over the past months but still no difference.
When I scan for networks, they appear fine. Reception is good, but as soon as it tries to connect the icon changes to the icon for poor reception. It doesn't matter what network I pick. Other devices running Android have no problem connecting.
Does anyone have an idea what might cause this issue? Is there any way to get a logging of the Wifi to see what exactly goes wrong? Any troubleshooting steps I could take? Your help would be very much appreciated
edit: forgot to mention, with CM9 I used the CM9 kernel, with other roms I use Rage kernel
in exactly the same situation as above, except it was all working just fine until a couple of hours ago. now suddenly the router that's sitting right in front of me, giving full signals has turned into a "poor connection"!!!
i'm on CM9 with CM9 kernel and the recommended baseband
especially suspicious is the facebook application that just got updated when it was working fine a couple of hours or so back. hasn't worked since that update
Backup and try this https://www.dropbox.com/s/s587q1udg2ya2s1/Xperia Mini,LWW,Active_wifi_modules.zip flash in cmw and perform factory reset after that..
If it doesn't work then flash this stock ics ftf http://www.4shared.com/rar/du68FPM-/SK17i_41B0431__1249-7380ftf.html?refurl=d1url via flashtool...

Flashed the Wifi module, did a factory reset and it's connected! Thank you so much
my problem solved as well. i didn't read rachit.rc96's reply so i solved it the hard way
was previously on baseband 72, flashed baseband 64 then 72 back again, no luck, went back to gingerbread, rooted then was able to connect to only one of my routers, the other one wasn't even showing up then flashed stock ics rooted that, now able to connect to both routers.
was that a problem with cm9 i wonder. or what?
Hi Guys, I need your help.
I have a S3 I9300, I was modifying its ROMS with different versions from SamMobile and Cyanogen, they worked fine, at the end I let the Jelly Bean version from samsung that I download from SamMobile, It worked fine for a couple of weeks. One day I was working with my S3 using the Wifi connection during morning, then I turn it off as normal, but in the afternoon I had to use the wifi again, a followed the normal process from the task tab and It showed Activating, but suddenly it stops, If I tried to turn it on, same thing happens. It looks the it is trying to identify or recognize the Antenna, but it hangs searching and searching and nothing comes up, same thing happens if I tried to use the host spot.
I though, it could be a physical problem, so I replace the antenna but problem still. the guys from the store said that I have to change the Main board, but I donĀ“t think so, I guess is more Software relate it.
All the rest features works fine, just WIFI does not.
I appreciate your help.
Firstly I'd suggest doing a backup from CWM Recovery (only if you want to) and try to reproduce this issue after full wipe ( /system /preload /data /cache) on trusted stock rom, ARHD for example. If after full wipe it still occurs then it's definitely hardware problem and can't be fixed by "software" ways.

What he said, cuz some custom roms also come with preinstalled working modem. Also some kernels or worng teaks can cause this (happened to me couple of days ago), you did any of this?

Hi, I have searched and searched but i can't seem to find the sollution for my problem.
I'm Running the ULTIMAROM V15.1 on my GT I-9300 since yesterday and i love it credits to the devellopers!
I have backed up the stock ROM on my laptop, did an EFS backup, went back to factory settings with a ful whipe.
Next i have installed the ultimarom, with full whipe again (ticked all three boxes) and now it's running great and fast
but with some small issues. The worst one is that my camera isn't working anymore, it gives a "camera faillure" notification, and stops.
I'm tried changing kernels, first i runned boeffla, then changed to Trebuchet, no difference, im running the stock S3 cam from
the ultima package..
Is this a more common problem, because I can't seem to find more people having problems with it?
Is there a solution for it?

Did you try using stock kernel? Maybe flash via recovery the dump of mk6? Running it here with no camera issue

i was recently messing with roms on my yp-g1 galaxy player 4, installed a custom rom that messed up,
o ,
followed this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850
I re installed the stock recovery images but I can no longer get the gps to acquire signal.
after this failed i installed steves kernel , and updated it to use the carbon rom firmware ,
But i still cant get the gps to get a signal
i read that this is a bug after you update firmwares,
but i am not sure where to get a radio firmware , and i already tried to restore to the factory firmwares and that didnt seem to have any effect..
help would be appreciated , i primarily use this device for geocaching , so without a gps signal its a brick for me...

you need to go back to absolute zero. follow the instructions in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531850 to the letter, being sure to wipe the cache when it says to. also, make sure you install the proper stock rom (international or usa, which ever one is appropriate for your device, if you dont know, look at the top of the fourm i directed you to)
after that, try reflashing again, following the instructions to the letter. usually when these issues happen, it is because of something stupid like a cache not being wiped when it should.
good luck
last night i broke down and trashed out carbon , Witch I liked very much (after having it on for only 4 hours),
Dispite not being able to install Gapps no matter what version I used.:silly:
Repartioned twice, as well as wrote the usa firmware back 3 times ( after fudging /mount multiple times selecting a incorrect firmware file).
and put it back to pure stock. GPS still didnt work.
left gps status app running for the night on my desk just for kicks , After 5+ hours it managed to get a gps signal
crashed the gps app and then magicly the gps is working again.
i am probably too scared to go back to carbon or another firmware
What are the chances this would happen again if i re flashed back to carbon again ?
Don't know, but if I had to guess, unlikely if you follow the directions.
