2430mah battery - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Bought one of these on ebay (only costed $9) now waiting for it to arrive. So i thought i might ask being a brand new battery what is the best way to get the most out of it? do i do a battery re calibration? I know this is useful on used batteries but unsure of a new one... Do i charge it first wipe the battery stat? or drain whatever power it comes with wipe battery stat?
I know this is a noob question to ask, but I'm learning and you guys here have been a great asset in helping me thus far.
Has anyone bought one of these off ebay? if so could you give me your experiences have or had with it?
Cheers.

i bought two off of ebay and have arrived about 2 days ago. I'm currently in the process of fully charging the battery - wiping the battery stats, rebooting and draining the battery til it doesn't turn on. Charging it up again etc etc. I'm not too sure if it's what you're meant to do but an 'ebay' battery is probably as good as if not better than an official SE battery.

I have a battery like that. Exactly the same as SE battery. Not better, not worse than the SE one.

Do you know where to get one?

Conditioning with multiple batteries

I just bought a new battery, samsung stock with charger...my question is how should I deal with them for best battery life. Keep the new battery in for stat and recondition? Also should I swap each day to keep both batteries healthy? How do you do it? Keep in mind the old battery is from launch in July.

You have to put the phone to charge when off...about 10 hours...so then battery will be nice

This isn't what I'm asking, if you have two batteries then your phone will only have stats for one. What's the best way to deal with it?

i never care about it..i just turn of the phone and put the other one...i dont think you need to do anything
me too. I never cared about reconditiong my battery. I just use it normally and it is still good.

I think Sdobron has a very valid question.
When you switch batteries, not only the actual capacity will be displayed wrongly, but also the phone will collect confusing new stats, and mess up the stats for the previous battery.
Is there any way to swap battery stats?
Lmao...I've been using 3 batteries charging with an external charger for like 7 months now ....no conditioning and no issues
Project-V 6-5-11
You dont have to recondition your battery. Just put the other battery, and stats will be the new one's. Works fine.

Two batteries how do I calibrate?

I have two batteries now. Assuming I want to use a spare so I always need to calibrate now? Hour do I handle a spare battery?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Find an app called BatteryLeft. It will help you manage two batteries.
Easy
You might want to write down this procedure because it's pretty complicated.
Step 1. Mark batteries 1. and B.
Step 2. Use battery A until it dies.
Step C. Replace battery A. with battery 2.
Step 4. While battery B is being used, charge battery 1
Step Cinco. Once battery 2 dies, replace with battery uno.
Sorry for the overly complicated answer.
In short - don't stress out about it. Just replace the battery when it dies. Use the time you just saved yourself to do something useful like learning how to knit or something.
So i just received the battery i bought on Ebay marked as OEM New geniune, and its used, i can clearly tell by the contacts and the battery is scratched allover... Time to message the ebay seller -_-
I got battery left pro. Does it calibrate the system for me? Because I know your suppose to use battery calibrator app to calibrate one battery. But ihow would I calibrate the system for the second? Does battery left do that too?

You're right. That's what I was trying to say to the OP but he ignored me.
Second battery always seems to have a much lower life when I do this. Maybe my stats are just way off since it's a much older oem battery

Are you judging this based off of the battery meter, or based off of how long the battery runs before it dies?
When it dies..can't understand why.

Hyperion AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II 4G 2 x Battery + Charger

Just ordered at Amazon for $25. Batteries are 1800mah. Not many reviews but all are saying that there are NO boot loops and that they work with original back cover. My guess is that these are NOT NFC batteries. They should last at least as original battery. I'll update post when I find out.
http://www.amazon.com/Hyperion-Sams..._12?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1321308449&sr=1-12
UPDATE
I tested my Hyperion batteries and they have about 5% LESS juice compared to stock battery. Another gripe is that charger output is rated as DC 4.2V 350mA (but mostly performs well below) so because of that, in my case, it takes 6+ hours to fully charge completely discharged battery. Some people reported 4 hours to fully charged state so each to it's own. If you charge phone thru charger's USB output you'll get full 750mA charge.
Anyway, considering all positives, negatives and price, I'm satisfied with this purchase and this is viable option for I777.
Positives
- no boot loops
- same form factor
- charger charge stock battery as well
- price (2 batteries and charger $25)
- extra USB output outlet (750-800mA)
Neutral
- batteries hold close to stock (it was expected knowing that weigh and size of batteries don't differ much compered to stock)
- not NFC compatible (not much of use for NFC right now)
Negative
- slow battery charging (~350mA)
- batteries hold ~12% less then advertised (~5% less then stock battery)
- once it gets below 20% it drains faster. Especially true for last 10%.
Maybe it'll get better over time. If someone found a way to properly calibrate this battery to show full potential, don't be shy, let us know.

UPDATE 2
See post #14!
I recieved these batteries/charger last Tuesday. The batteries work fine, seem to hold close to the same charge as the stock battery. Charger works fine with both stock and replacement batteries. No NFC. They actually seem just very slightly thinner than the stock battery, I'm certain they couldn't possibly rate a full 1800mah. Either way, I'm cool with it...between these two Hyperion and my two stock Samsung batteries, I have completely stopped worrying about battery life and I can enjoy my device.
Thanks for heads up! I'm looking to have same experience with these batteries. And I'm glad to hear that charger works with stock battery as well.

Friend of mine got Mugen battery. I gave him one Hyperion for test purposes. He was so mad because they lasted the same. Man, if you wanna preserve same form factor and save some $ buy either stock or Hyperion. For me, there is no question about that.

I've been cycling between the hyperion batteries and my stock battery for the last few days.
I've noticed that my battery life drops twice as fast with hyperion vs stock. Has anybody else noticed this? Usage is the same and I'm running CM7.
Is this some weird calibration issue and the battery actually has more than is reported?
I think it's the hyperion batterys, i bought one a few Weeks back but its 8% lesser battery life then stock atleast for me..

Yep. It takes 4-5 full charges to "properly" calibrate, but don't worry, it'll hold close as stock battery.

I wish the battery capacity was the same as Samsung OEM battery. It seems much less than 5% lower capacity.
Since battery life and tracking is very important to me because it's the best indicator of whether things are working alright, I just bit the bullet and ordered the $30 OEM battery. I'll hold on to the hyperion batteries for travel and emergencies, but I'm leaving them out of my "rotation" (I like to avoid charging and just swap batteries every night).
Or if I'm going to play a CPU/GPU intensive game for 4-5 hours, I'll throw in the hyperion battery just to kill it

As I told you before, battery life will improve after 5 full charges/discharges, unless you got bad batch. In that case you should exchange it for new ones.
I tested mine with Battery Monitor Widget Pro and 100% charge show 4188mV and 1% charge show 2940mV while stock battery goes down to 3022mV. So there is potential for Hyperion to last longer then stock but somehow it drains faster. If someone knows answer I would be glad to hear it. I would continue with calibration and testing and report back if there is any new findings. For now, they last 5-6% less then stock.
Anyway, first week of using Hyperion they lasted 20% less then stock so I bought same as yours stock battery with charger for $30 from Amazon. Stock is stock. LOL

Oh my goodness! Massive improvement! I mean huge! I was so stupid. The key was in deleting Battery stats in Recovery before Rom boots.
Follow these steps;
1. Power off the phone
2. Replace battery with fully charged Hyperion battery
3. Boot into Recovery by holding volume+, volume- and Power button. Release all three buttons when Galaxy S2 logo shows 2nd time.
4. Go to advanced and delete battery stats
5. Go back and restart the phone
6. Enjoy much better battery life
I will do proper comparison with stock battery when I get some free time. If someone do it before me feel free to post results.
My guess is that battery life improved somewhere between 10-20%!

So do you have to erase the battery stats for each battery? And how does that affect the stock batteries?

I think that wiping battery stats will help with any extended battery, not just Hyperion. And don't forget to properly calibrate batteries. Fully charge/discharge 5 times.

[Q] Which replacement battery to buy?

my battery last about 8hrs with barely no use. with average whatsapp and email i'd be lucky to get 3-4hrs. I've already tried every trick listed in the forum to extend batt life. it turns off randomly under heavy use (camera or video playback, games, etc). those things work when its on the charger.
I've decided to replace the battery and my back cover that doesn't seat properly anymore. i wanted to know if anyone have purchased the extend battery; and that back cover looks alot bigger than the original.
is it worth it? amazon.com item # B002MPY4BW
or should i just buy the standard replacement battery? amazon item # B001IF277K
what BST is the battery and what is the v.??

The original battery is too small.
They may have been built in a SE factory but the current rating is too low for the x10's demands.
SE would have solved many problems by just using a larger cell.
The x10 sometimes requests more current that what those poor cells could supply.
Due to a overly hungry GSM 3G radio.

Yes, that makes sense, but is there any sort of guarantee that these no-name batteries use actually larger cells and produce higher rating?
All I'm saying is I am a bit reluctant to trust cheap so-called extended batteries.
i think the original batteries are weak too. don't even have 3G here. at first it lasted a full day with just music, texting and calls. once i added data it dropped more than half.
know whats odd tho.. at home on wifi i get longer battery life. i think it has something to do with this mobile data service.

[Q] Sudden death of battery

After upgrading my phone from ICS to JB, I experience a strange phenomena.
The battery life was 75%, and I was calling someone for about 2-3 minutes, then the phone turned off by itself.
The battery was 0%, in just 2-3 minutes!
When I upgraded the OS, I did factory reset. I rooted the phone, froze a lot of bloatwares, but the problem still persisted.
I am beginning to think that my battery is bad or something.
Anybody experienced anything like this?
Any solutions to the problem?
I tried charging the battery from 0% to 100% with power off for several consecutive days, but the problem still persisted.
I need help!
Batteries do eventually die. You can find a good extended battery on ebay for under $10.

After posting the question, I removed the battery to see if physical status of the battery was not the primary cause of the issue.
Well, the battery the"fat". The middle of the battery was bulging for some strange reason. It seemed as if it was left in the direct sun light for a few hours, and I know I did not leave the phone out in the direct sun light, ever!. Well, I ordered a new battery on Friday, and I will have to wait and see if a new battery would solve the problem. I will report back.
