[HELP] i can't root!!!! help! - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

See the pics attached:
I use this method
(from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145):
"
E. Rooting for 2.3.3/2.3.4/2.3.5 (Thanks to russian forum-user with nickname may213):
1) Download attached file called upd_1.zip and copy it to your sdcard
2) Turn off your phone
3) Press POWER+HOME BUTTON
4) Select update from sdcard, select the file upd_1.zip
5) After the update completed - reboot
6) Now you have rooted S5830
"

before rooting, I've done this———“How to force install apps to SD card without ROOT!!!”, does this affect my rooting?

Try to mount/system and data then flash again.

tried, still can't. thx anyway.

Problem solved!!
I find this article "How to root Samsung Galaxy Ace on Froyo & Gingerbread
"acetips.wordpress.com/2011/09/29/root-ace-froyo-gingerbread/"
I follow the note:
"Those who are getting errors and cant root their phone , Download this file “AceGingerRoot.zip” and use it instead of “upd_1.zip”"
download the file “AceGingerRoot.zip".
and successfull!!!!
I don't know why, but again, it's successful!

I'm sorry, I thought my problem solved.
coz I saw the update completed and the superuser icon in the app drawer.
But when I try to open Titanium Backup, it says my ROM is not rooted.
Still need help!

and my phone is locked to my carrier,
does it affect the rooting?

really need help!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so frustrated!!!

Lol. I had the exact same problem! Are you intending to install cm7? Whatever I did that update pack would not root for me... I ended up flashing clockwork mod ace, a recovery just for the ace. I've heard that the regular ROM Manager can brick this phone. Then installed cm7 without having the root permission in Gingerbread. You can do it just by placing the Rom on the SD and using the install zip from sd option. You will want to make a backup before you do this. Also check if you can find your providers APN values online for setting up mobile data. Worked for me. Do I like cm7? It is good, very customizable. However, do not expect something as polished as the firmware without a bit of effort to figure out the options.

And no, being locked to a carrier does not affect rooting your phone.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA Premium App

you can try CF-root

You should also have a look at the topic on this forum "(Q) GTS5830B root?" I think it may be applicable to you. Some stuff about changing the script in the update.zip pack to match the model of your Ace.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA Premium App

yes, I got the problem exactly same as this thread""(Q) GTS5830B root?" " but I don't understand how to solve it using the method mentioned in that thread.
Actually, I'm not only just a noob, also, ace is my first smartphone.
I tried to figure out all the new words, apps, systems I had to use to get my Ace to customize as my wish.
I'll managed to solve my problem by figuring out the approach that thread mentioned. If I can't, I'll probably try CM7(another new thing to learn).
Thank you for your hint, at least now, I saw the hope out there.

I've tried these 2:
1. edit "updater-script" by changing "GT-S5830" to "GT-S5830T"(my model number), it doesn't work, aborted.
2. delete the "assert", it worked, update completed.
But,
Still,
when I try to open titanium or root uninstaller,
they all say "it is not rooted" after updating was successful.
I just don't get it. WHY?????

I tried to unroot, coz I thought maybe I can get rid of the useless superuser app got from updating "“AceGingerRoot.zip” ", and then I will give modified "update.zip" another try.
However, it's so funny that the superuser app is still there after updating unroot.zip successfully(at least that's what the screen says).
Can I recovery to the stock state by using the recovery mode? so I can get rid of all these stuff and start again!

Okay, you have EXACTLY the same problem I did. You could try SuperOnceClick. It never worked for me, but it might be worth a try before giving up. There is a good Tutorial on it here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
When that didn't work I just installed CyanogenMod-7.1-RC1Cooper-Grif_07 and moved on with my life. You can get it to look just like Gingerbread, but you will loose all your Samsung stuff, and your GPS might not be able to get a fix. Sorry...

Yes, if you made a back-up before you started. It is really easy, it just takes a few min... Without a backup you would need to download the original firmware.

I've heard cannot get backup by using clockwork recovery if it's not rooted. Am I wrong about it?
and I thought SuperOnceClick is for Froyo and not for ACE?

When I installed I was so MAD that I was ready to smash the phone, so honestly I never backed up before installing CM7. You can go ahead and try. The worst that can happen is nothing. If you're flashing CM7 and you absolutely hate it you can always reset back to the factory ROM by downloading and installing it. There is a full Tutorial here including links to everything you need! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292
SuperOneClick worked on my P500h running 2.3.3...

Thank you.
I'll give it a try tomorrow, and see how it goes.

Im done with this (Cant Flash Correctly)

Hello guys, first I will like to thank all of you for supporting the forum and for helping me a lot. I been trying by far do the list below and I cant get it to work correctly in more then 20 attempts and Im afraid I will totally brick my vibrant.
Done Procedures;
I have ROOTed the Phone
BackUp all my files using Titanium
Flashed ClockWorkMod with Rom Manager
Flashed with ROM Bionix V 1.3.1
Delete Cache and Dalvik...
Rebooted system
At that point everything is good but once I install a kernel I start having problems with the SD recognition by PC and Installing or un-installing apps to device
Any tips or step by step how should do to install Bionix 1.3.1 with kernel Tigers Blood with Voodoo sound and colors without a problem?
or maybe to install Axura with out been so lagging.
Any reason for not testing Trigger, with OverStock 2.2?
Try trigger, or a 2.2.1 port. Pne of those may work faster.

I will try this mate and report back. I just did an back up and now lets just see how this setup does it for me. All I want is a good theme ROM, fast and stable, Honestly I loved the Axura ROM but is to lagging for me for some reason.
Bionix is great but I have the same problem with all the roms I install. When the USB is not detected then is the apps cant be install or un-install.
Will try this one as I havent yet and besides it gives me more experience nothing to loose.
Thanks mate
Feel free to shoot me a pm if needed. Just be sure you've read the noob guide.

OMG here we go again, I think Im doing something wrong. I have the same issue as the more same I do like the How to's state I have the problem with installing and un-installing soft. When i even try to restore my back up for apps from Titanium it wont let me since all the apps stay like computing. I think is something wrong with the apps system or something.
I havent flashed yet the kernel.
I will try to install the ROM again
Not to sound rude, but did you follow the instructions in the noob guide on the proper way to backup, flash and restore?
Perhaps you should just ODIN back to stock and start over if you have.
Let me know if I can help, try and be detailed in your posts though... that last one, I really have no clue what you were trying to say.
Odin root cwm flash...... I hope your only flashing one thing at a time... Not rom+kernel+theme+ boot animation or somthing wildly stupid

I really love this ROM looks great and very smooth. I will use ODIN and go back to stock then I will root and then will flash with CWM and comeback here for some tips. I want to get this right for the first time at least.
TY so much mate
Ok, Im done, I have installed the ROM and let it sit for 10 mins at least then rebooted. What step should I do now to flash a kernel like Tiger blood or OverStock.
Or what will be the next step other then configuring the login for google?

I did used the ODIN to Stock Flash my phone and then one out a time after reboot ect...
you may want to stay stock trigger for awhile and test it out.
when ready, download overstock 2.2, move it to sdcard/, reboot to CWR, install from zip (like a rom), after you flash it, reboot.... you'll notice a new splash screen for overstock, all done.

Ok, I have seen enough of this. lol I so sad to see how easy this is but frustrated when I get problems like the one I still have. Everything was great until I started installing the apps from the Titanium back up i made. It did installed about 15 apps but after those been installed successfully it just got stocked loading and it wont install any more apps or even un-install. Cant even install apps from the market.
What is wrong with this thing, is very stressful try and try and get the same result on 4 different ROMS I have tested already. I really hate to ask for help as I like to read and try it for myself so I can about a new hobby.
But this one is biting my hand very hard. Can you please tell me ehat can I do in this case mate to trouble shoot this?
Thank you for your time friend
Something I have done a bit different is that I have put the files in separate folders for more organize.
Like for sample; at sd_root/ I have a folder name Download which it have sub-folders that look like this tree below
Download
//
-Kernels/
-Metamorhp Mods/
-Misc Mods/Apps
-Modems
-Mods
-Roms
-Themes
Do you think that will be a problem by not having the Files at the root location at SD?
When you are restoring your titanium back ups, are you only restoring apps? I mean, are you restoring system data too? You don't want to restore system data, and only restore apps. Sometimes restoring system data from previous roms can cause problems.
If this still doesn't help, you might just want to redownload all your apps, and then make a backup. Sounds like your issue is linked to titanium back up.

That makes sence!! I will load the ROM again and start over and see how it goes installing just the apps. I was restoring the apps and data
If it doenst help I will continue your suggestion to install the apps one by one NOT from the Titanium as it was back up from a different ROM.
thanks i will let know how it goes.
stay away from restoring system data when flashing roms. Just the apps with the app data. Hope this helps man. If not, let's go over the entire order of what you are doing and we will figure out what is going on.

Ok here goes to nothing. I have dont everything correctly like the Guide's stating and everything works great at first but them it just stop working the whole file system apparently. Is just works great and after few app installs it just fail. When I go to check the files from the File management it just say Computing instead of loading and give the file size info ect....
What can it be I dont have a clue as I have search the whole forum and I dont see this problem posted by any other. Its just wont install, un-install or even cant stop any app from working.
What else can i do?
When backing up with Titanium, its okay to back up user apps and their data. As far as system data, Titanium has it sorted by what is and isn't safe to restore. Green entries are all good, don't back up any entries with red text.
This is how I've been backing up stuff since before 2.2 dropped, and I've never run into any strange issues.
Just a shot in the dark, but it might be a bad sd card, or just needing a format. Try backing up all your sd files on your computer, and format your sd card and see if that helps. I had some funky stuff going on with my phone, and it went away after I did that.

[Q] How do you flash roms on prerooted GB?

Feel free to move or delete this thread, or even create a better one because I can not seem to find what I am looking for.
I have an X2 that I went through the whole bootstrap, gingerbreak, upgrade to pre-root GB.
Now I have all that, Rom manager, CMR, Bootstrap installed, all those fancy programs, but when I try to use Clockwork Mod it just brings me back through the regular bootloop back to GB without even doing any update/flash whatever you might call it.
What am I missing here? Where is this magical step I am obviously overlooking? Sorry, yes I am a newb and now I want to try either eclipse(which is on my SD Card) or the CM7 nightlies...

Rom Manager Doesn't Work, Koush Isn't Supporting The X2 Yet. The Clockworkmod We're Using Is Tenfars Based On Koush's Code.
Where can I find that?

should've made him work out a fractal before giving up the info...
Yes I also didn't think u t would just be as easy as how I got preroot gb when I first did it either
As easy as flashing the preroot. Do the same thing with eclipse and viola.
lol, I love fractals!
No, but on a serious note, I already had everything but had CMR because I used to have a DX. I thought I read somewhere people saying "clockword mod this..." and assumed it would be the same one!
This forum is freaking huge and can take someone hours to find a simple "how-to" lol.
there is no cm7 nightlies for this bad boy so dont flash any of them lol
I noticed, I have been trying to install the eclipse rom to no avail still. Followed all the prompts but keep getting the same error.
What error are u getting?
I will have to post it later when I get a minute to run through the steps again. I believe it was "E: Can't open.... Install aborted" something along those lines. Eclipse on SD card(if that makes a difference), just want to put as much info out as you guys might need to find my issue.

The sticky in the android dev subforum has links to all the tutorials. Regarding the error, are you downloading eclipse with your phone or a computer. If using your phone try using your pc with Firefox or chrome browser. If that isn't feasible, I downloaded mine from phone but I had astro file manager installed so the stock browser would download it. You can try that. Most errors of that nature are related to a bad download. The links are all verified, next logical step is to try a different download method

The plan is to choose a ROM which suits your preferences, e.g. no homescreen lag, better camera apk, better access to the CPU. Try a few, I use Villianrom, which suits me really but there are loads more.
Enjoy
First is first
Backup ur efs
Then titanium
Then cwm full backup

your /efs folder is in comparison to apps, data etc. the most important thing to backup since it is the only thing that cannot be restored without a proper backup if it is screwed up by a bad flash. it basically contains your product code, imei and other sensible phone related data. you can backup it easily with hellcat's kTool app from market. For safety reasons you should copy your /efs backup img from your sdcard to your pc afterwards.
Concerning your other questions, just read through the few stickies in the general and android original dev. section. all what you look for is explained there very detailed.

If u rooted with cf kernel n haven't flashed another then yes, up+home+power >back up. Use hellcats k tool to back up efs (its on market or his thread in dev section) titanium back up is the 1st thing that comes up if you search 'titanium' on market the pro version is costs but is worth it.
Seriously tho, if you're new to android and have never rooted, give it a few weeks first otherwise you won't know what is 'better' and if you don't and end up having problems with roms you'll end up crying that you should have got an Iclone.. Just my opinion from observing this forum for a while

hi,this rooting seems pretty confusing as i used to be an iphone user and jailbreaking was simple but this seems to be difficult to follow, ive been looking around the forum for step by step guide on how to install roms etc but just cant find them, would like to test this out to see if it was worth rooting but at the moment its done nothing for me or the phone its just added another few apps,it seems to me like its a lot of hassle to get different roms etc onto the phone & whats radio etc do i need to update other stuff when i try to put roms on & kernels whats that all about ????sorry chaps but im clueless to all this stuff maybe i should have stayed with apple.
and the efs backup has been done with hellcat & when connected to pc there is no backup file on my sd card ??

My advice is to stay away from flashing ROMs, kernels and rooting.
Use it like you used your iPhone, install games and apps from the Android Market and enjoy your phone.
Unless you've seen something you particularly want from any of the above, the risks for you are not worth it.
thinking that myself mate but how do i put the phone back to the way it was before i rooted ?
how to remove the root & go back to original way
As far as I can tell, you haven't said how you rooted - looks like you flashed a different, pre-rooted kernel. There's not a big risk staying rooted, just take extra care if you install something and you get a popup on your phone telling you it's asking for root (superuser request).
it was this
DooMLoRD_v2_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip
and installed zimage to my sd card and installed onto phone so i have superuser and darkyrom2 installed ive done nothing else.
mucking around with roms & kernels etc seem a load of hassle & dont want to destroy the phone with wrongly installed roms etc & what happens when a new update come out through kies ? do i just install it or what ?
can i not just remove the root by doing a factory reset or something ?
Of course you can easily completely revert back to your original set-up. For doing that just type *#1234# in your dialer and post here the output. I or someone else can point you to your original rom.
BUT you will never get a taste of in my opinion the greatest advantage of android: it's customability.
I promise you, you won't regret the effort it takes to educate yourself a bit about the basic knowledge you need, to do all the cool stuff which is only possible rooted. It is enough to spend some time to read regulary here on xda and you will see that everything is really not that hard. You don't have to fear, it is almost impossible to brick your phone if you just have a backup of your /efs folder, don't flash the firmware of another device on your phone and don't disconnect your usb cable in the one second a different bootloader gets flashed. I have flashed and hardcore abused my sgs1 more then 500 times (no exaggeration, i am a dev for sgs1 ) and my sgs2 also very often. Everything ( while testing stuff i went through scary errors and a literally death phone more than once) is recoverable except in the three situations i mentioned above. And you can ALWAYS go back to stock later on no matter what you have messed up.
Have a look again at the content of your sdcards (also in folders and subfolders), the efs.img or .tar has to be somewhere there, save it on your pc and the party can be started

And because i am a nice guy and don't want you to go back to apple here my advice for your first custom rom :
1. Follow exactly the instructions there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Take your time to read through, everything is explained very well
2. Then you are ready to flash your first custom rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288850
this is in my opinion the most stable atm. Read through the first posts, download the 2.9 zip from the post, copy it to your internal sd
3. Switch your device off and boot into recovery by pressing and holding volume up, home and power button at the same time until samsung gti9100 appears on the screen (about 5 sec.), then release the three buttons and you are in recovery mode. You can navigate with vol up and vol down and power or home button in the recovery mode. Navigate to "install from sdcard"/"choose zip from sdcard" and then select the file you have downloaded. Confirm and relax. That's all... easy or?

From now on you can easily forget about kies, roms here will mostly provide newest firmware long before it is out via kies. Also with odin you can always much more comfortable flash the same firmware as comes over kies.
You can flash any rom you want as long as it is for your device (gt i9100).
As i said, take your time and read across the forum and always follow the thread about the rom you run and your knowledge will improve from alone have fun bro

DX2 Unroot

I just rooted my DX2 using the Droid3 one click root method. I don't like being rooted. I have frozen some apps and changed my boot animation and my fonts. All using ROM Manager. My question is, 3 actually,
1. How do I unroot?
2. Can I unroot without having to factory reset my phone?
3. Is there a way to back up my phone(settings, apps, contacts) without being rooted?
What is there not to like? Being rooted just gives u superuser permission you can stay stock and benefit from more apps and control and abilities to add to ur misfit toy

I am a noob at rooting. I was afraid to even take the leap. Now it seems that my phone is slower and laggy. I don't want to brick my phone trying to fix this.
Try using setcpu or ROM toolbox to set the CPU higher. Can also use auto task killer memory optimizer to free up ram on your phone. I'd say try that before unrooting. Not sure if you can unroot. I think you'll have to do a SBF

You can just SBF your phone, it's not as scary as it seems. The directions provided here on XDA are detailed and easy to follow.
Still, if it were me in you position, I'd not only keep root, but go ahead and install Recovery and do a backup. That way you don't have to lose your data.
I used to think the same thing. But keeping root has allowed me to load multiple roms and scripts, now I'm a flash addict! Flashing roms and running scripts is very easy when you follow the instructions on this forum. I suggest loading the liberty rom and trying it out before unrooting or sbfing.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will try out this root thing a bit longer. Can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs right? I hope to not break any eggs :/ This is all chinese to me. I will have to research the terms you are all speaking of.

Take look at all our stickies. Anything u need to know is detailed in them.
feel free to pm me if u have something u can't figure out.
TIP-
FLASH ECLIPSE
U will almost instantly fall in love with how smooth it runs and how clean it is.
Or even try liberty. Both very solid.
And rooting and the mods u described u did(freezing/removing apps )I shouldn't slow ur phone down.
try clearing cache from stock recovery and see if that speeds things up for ya. It should.
U wont lose ANY data if u only clear the cache.
Breaking humpty dumpty is fine, remember to make nandroid so you can put your phone back to how you had it
Quite fun making a nandroid and trying out new ROMs and mods. You can rename nandroids too so you know which one is which, just put a "."But and then what ever you want after everything. So like 2011-12-23.Molten or something, just don't mess with the numbers.
Good luck!

We don't have "official" rom manager support....I recommend getting rid of it for now b4 u cause problems for urself....just saying.
I am verging off into strange and uncharted waters. I am trying to flash a rom. I have Rom toolbox and Rom manager and have back up everything with TB I have downloaded eclipse for my X2 and when I go to install Rom from memory card I click Eclipse only nothing happens. It just opens the file and that is it. How do I get it to put Eclipse on my phone?

First step---get rid of rom manager...
u need to use our bootstrap recovery to flash anything
Second step.
check booked's sticky in our development section for the bootstrap recovery app
Third step
Go to general section and read moon shadows sticky about making a nandroid backup.
Read read read read lol...
Rom manager will not work for us...the X2 doesn't have "official" CWM support ...or even official rom manager support...
Please read the couple sticky posts we have in general and development sections for all the info u desire

Ok, so, I have flashed Eclipse to my phone. I downloaded Titanium backup to restore all of my data and apps but it isn't recognizing any of my backed up files. I don't understand. I even manually downloaded ADW again and went to restore my configuration and settings and it says there is no files. I know they are there I can see them when I connect my phone to the PC. Also when I open Easy Installer it isn't recognizing most of my APK files I have. Can you tell me what is going on please?

Try switching the files ur trying to restore to the other sdcard.
I suspect this is ur problem because eclipse comes with sd card flip
So I think that ti is looking in the wrong.place.
Just use a file explorer to move it all to the other sdcard
reboot and them try again

Also
U don't need "easy installer" I don't think
Just use a file explorer (like root explorer--HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS APP!)
And navigate to the apk u would like to install and tap it. Then use "package installer" to install it.
Although some apps(mostly system apps) u will need to manually "push"(copy&paste) to /system/app using root explorer(mount /system as rw first...little gray button on top in root explorer) then change permission to rw-r--r--. Reboot and app will be there.

Before Eclipse everything was being saved in my internal memory. When you said SD flip I thought maybe if I take what I want from internal and transfer to external it will be recognized. It worked. I am restoring all my data and apps. WOOHOO. Now I just need to find out how to get my music able to be controlled from the lock screen like gingerbread That is a feature I use daily as I use my phone as an MP3.

Another problem I am having is I can't get picture messeges. It gives me the option to download them but it never downloads.
Hmmm. I never had a problem wit picture messages...
sorry...
I even just got a pic my friend sent me as I was reading this...
Might want to check the settings inside message app...
u could also try a message app from market...
For lockscreen music controls try something like power amp or another music app that comes with options for lockscreen widget/controls...maybe even try searching for "lockscreen music control"
Also..I am hoping nitro includes those controls in next release kinda like how liberty has it

[Q] Remove Lookout other bloatware for rooted phone

I used the thread here to root T-mobile HTC-one. I have been trying to remove several things from the phone Lookout, KidMode and google talk; however I couldn't do any of them. I tried using Titanium backup and no bloat for the removal, but they are still there. Any help appreciated.
Aroha,
I'm new to all this too, but from what I've read here, T-MaBell has it wired to reinstall the bloat when it detects it's gone or something like that.
To get around it, ya gotta flash a new kernel and/or ROM.
TiBa let's you freeze the bloatware so I guess that's the best it can get unless you start getting into deeper water.
Good luck

I had the same problem on myTouch 4G ages ago. Any app that you remove that came with the phone will be reloaded when you reboot your phone. I think it has to do with the stock ROM and the way it set.
You can disable lookout and other crap in Application settings in settings. It will be on your phone but it will be completely idle
for example; once someone decrypts the phone, when i make my rom and host, when u download it, you can actually take anything you want out of the zip, thats what i do when i make a stock not root rom, i make another rom for myself, i remove everything else i dont want, change to boot animation, then i use that for my personal rom..
what you need for your rom, is a kernal with read and write access...

Is that what S-Off is for, gives me a write/read access. I will just flash a custom ROM, I think that should take care of it.

All u need is root and a kernel..
Why not just disable it?

Can't seem to edit but...just disable what you don't want and it disappears from your apps. What's the difference other than a tiny amount of storage space?

You can also remove them from the recovery. if you have TWRP you can reboot into recovery and use the file manager to delete them from system/apps The system dir is write protected while the phone is running.
