Neo V can't find tethered internet from G1 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello,
At first i would like to apologize for my bad English
So, i have a problem. I have my old G1 with root, and i have installed wireless tether program. I turned it on and everything seems ok. But my Neo V can't see it in options, while an Iphone 4 see it and connects to it. I albo downloaded wifi finder to Neo and there is the tether, but when i click connect it goes to options where i can't see it.
Do you have any ideas how to connect them?

Unfortunately Nooks (and most android devices) can't join ad-hoc networks. Details here: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/issues/detail?id=11
I tried many hacks used for other devices and had no success yet.

iPhone is running iOS and not Android, so things are different there.
Next time search the forums, before starting a new thread.

Ok. Thanks for reply, and sorry for new topic

[Q] Reverse Tethering on P500

Can the LG Optimus One P500 be reverse tethered i.e. when the mobile is connected to a PC with the cable then the phone can access the internet via the PC.
My HTC Incredible S used to do this and I did search a bit before posting this but I couldn't find a way to make my LG Optimus One P500 do it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for that reply. I do have a wifi router already
Reverse tethering will allow me to use internet available on any machine even while I'm in transit. Think laptop+data card
Hence the query
Used to use this some time back when I was on Windows.
Also, cool sig
I use this www.mhotspot.com

That works if your laptop has WiFi. Sometimes I have an old laptop with me which doesn't have WiFi or I'm visiting a friend who doesn't have WiFi. Reverse tethering hack would really help out.
Couldn't find a link for reverse tethering. Any suggestions?

i still have yet to be able to connect via wireless tether...no matter what version i use...
Using 3.0 pre 14 and it just works.
Maybe you guys should try and verify you are rooted....use root check from the market.
Thinking you are rooted and being rooted are 2 different things....no?

I installed the market version of Wifi Tether (currently 2.0.7):
https://market.android.com/details?id=android.tether
It worked for me to a limited extent, but many features, including big ones like encryption and infrastructure mode aren't compatible with the Photon.
here is the link to the beta that isn't in the market yet. Works perfect and has encryption as well as other bells and whistles.

Seems to work, but I can't see the network..

Connecting to Gateway laptop and O know the difference between rooted and not rooted. This problem is common for many users...
Sent from my Photon.....!
Most android tablets can't connect to adhoc networks. The photon creates a adhoc network. You have to root your tablet and change the wpa_supplicant file. Search the tablet forums for "wpa_supplicant" instructions.

Thank you!! I've been looking for a good tethering app with my new Photon, and haven't had much success in finding one that works - looking forward to trying this one out!
=)
Interesting that I never noticed this before but I got a No Access Control message when I start Wireless tether.
"Sorry but your kernal does not have all necessary features for the Access Control feature of this application. Access Control will be disabled."
Was using Beta 2 but downloaded the Beta 4 version. After seeing that message I hit ignore and never saw it again.
Anyone else see that message.
TS
OK - so I got it to work - it turns out that some windows 7 drivers are buggy as hell - especially for the intel wireless network cards - I installed a different driver (a generic one as opposed to the actual driver for my wifi card) and tethering now works.
Doesn't wifi tether for root have an infrastructure mode option? I thought it did.
Edit: Nope, it doesn't. Also can't use access control options at this time.

Xperia Sola Anyway to connect through USB port not WiFi??

Xperia Sola Anyway to connect through USB port not WiFi??
Of course there is, just use the cable provided with it
But jokes aside I was wondering the same thing sometime ago, mainly because I didn't have wifi installed, and from what I read it's quite complicated (or so I remember) and it's vastly easier just to buy a wifi access point then trying to set it up.

[Q] Reverse Tethering with Cyanogenmod 10 Jelly Bean 4.1.1

Hello,
I can't use app Reverse Tethering 2.30 with the last Cyanogenmod 10 (Nightly) , i always have notification of autorization superuser whereas i autorize and memorize the action.
This application is compatible with Cm 10 or not officially ?
Can someone test for him ?
Thank you from France.
Have you tried this app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.littlelan.ReverseTether.Trial

Try posting in the thread you mentioned in the OP or hope someone on CMX tests it for you. I'm on CM9 as of now

Reverse Tether Options?

On my phone before last (GS3) I was able to share my computer internet connection via USB. It was called reverse tether but I believe I had to root to enable.
Has anyone had any luck achieving this functionality on the Z3v with or without root?

Do they require root? Never understood why this isn't a standard feature, it's just like using WiFi except wired.

We are talking about REVERSE tether, which means that we want to use a computer internet connection to have internet on the phone.
It SHOULD be a standard feature as it is so easy to implement ! Some older version of android were allowing this easily and some phone maker were puting this as an option, now it's a hassle with LP !

Thanks for info. Bummer these all require root but I'll probably bite the bullet and root soon. My company doesn't allow WiFi and I'd like to save data while at work.

That is also my purpose as we don't have wifi at work. I tried on a Z3 stock rom LP 5.0.1 and it's not working... Could be because my internet connection has to go through an http proxy
Hi!
I was also looking for a way to reverse tether on my unrooted device. I could not find anything, so I developed my own solution, ReverseTethering NoRoot. Thread over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/u/best-apps/app-reversetethering-noroot-t3316716
