Disable low battery led notification? - Motorola Droid X2

I am a very heavy user and sometimes have to swap between 3-4 different extended batteries before I can recharge. Because of this fact calibration doesn't work for me, the red battery low led blinks at me about 80% of the time.... Is there an edit i can do somewhere to turn it off?

I use Light Flow Lite - LED Control. It just checked and it does have control for the Low Battery Notification LED. Check it out.
Ciao!

Yea definately go with Light Flow. It is worth the 5 bucks (I believe) for the full version. There is a free version, with less features of course, but it gets the job done. You can control, like MoonShadow said, all of the LED notifications throughout your system, which is awfully convenient.

+1 Lightflow is definitely the best option.

Got the free version now but the question is still on the table because running yet another program is not the best option for this, its gotta be written somewhere in a "build.prop" type of file that could be tweaked to your preference, basically manually doing once what liteflow does for all of those other options

I have not tried this so make a backup before you do this. If you don't typically use your red LED you can turn the brightness down to 0, it will technically still "blink" but you won't see it. Go to /sys/class/leds/red/ open max_brightness in text editor and the number should be something like 225, turn that to 0. Reboot and see if that works.

That actually sounds like a feasible option there

And u also just gave me another idea caden
I was looking around in there and found the pcs backlight "brightness" and the value changes when I change my display brightness. I have been trying to find a way to lower brightness below what the slider allows. This way I don't need an app running to make it even dimmer to save battery. And with root explorer I can make a shortcut right to it when I want to change it.
The lowest value I've seen is 30. Im gonna try 20, then 15 and if I can still see then 10. Hoping this will help save battery when I don't need such bright screen.
Hoping ill be able to find something that shows the "minimum allowed by slider" or similar then I could edit that and be able torestore just use slider. I KNOW it goes lower than 30 cuz when using battery manager and battery goes lower than 30 it dims the screen even lower than I had it set.
Wow...sorry everyone lol..I didn't mean to hijack..was kinda related when I started. I know others might be interested in this also. I will post my findings after I give it a shot tomorrow. Gonna nandroid first of course in case anyone else tries this before me.

Im.just a little curious as to why u can't throw it.on the charger b4 going thru 4batteries? I mean I understand completely how heavy ur use might be as I am the same way. I can drain a stock battery in 3-4hrs sometimes(less sometimes) and I have 2fully charged batteries in my wallet all the time.
I recommend getting a desktop battery charger if u don't have one. Cheap on ebay.(I assume u already have one tho)
Edit::I tend to forget that not everyone wears pants wit pockets near the knee and can just easily bring their charger ANYWHERE lol. I have even asked bartenders to let me use outlets.

I'm glad my post gave some insight haha. Let me know if it works.
Also as a side note, maybe his signature indicates he travels a lot up north somewhere (wilderness areas?) which would mean no outlet to charge. Just a guess.

Might be worth checking out that newfangled solar charger thingamajig then

I love this place...ill be dimming my brightness for the led shortly +1 man, and your welcome to talk anything you want here ash your definitely one of my favorites here, the screen brightness ill probly do as well although i wonder if that one could be made into one of the drop down toggles or tell me how to do the R. E. shortcut , i have to use screen filter at night especially outside.
Im not sure what newfangled solar charger but id definitely like a link, most solar for phones is super lame and low end, i am outside ALOT, so really just can't plug in anywhere and j don't ask anyone if i can plug in i wait for home , with all my power in my spares and my energizer powerpaq (that babys 4000+ mAh by itself) i can go over two weeks without needing an outlet, (all my pants are cargo jeans so i "do" have pockets at my knees

THANKS bro
I haven't been able to test the LCD backlight setting yet.
I will edit this on my break with instructions on how to shortcut wit RE.
And HOLY crap a WEEK? LOL
That sounds like something I should do Hahaha ...id need a LOT of batteries tho

To make a bookmark in R.E. navigate to the file u would like to make a shortcut/bookmark to. Instead of tapping to open it just long press the file and select "add bookmark"
Then next time all you need to do is open R.E and press menu>bookmarks and u can go straight to that file.
Also...if u use a launcher such as ADW ex(what I use) or Launcher Pro, they allow you to create a custom shortcut right on ur homescreen and u can set am "activity" an app does. For instance in this case I have a custom shortcut set up that I chose the "activity" under root explorer called "Root explorer(Bookmarks List)" so that when I touch the shortcut(app icon on homescreen) it takes me directly to my root explorer bookmarks instead of having to open RE and press menu>bookmarks.
custom activity shortcuts are so sweet

I've never used the bookmark feature. I'll have to add a few things to that.

Yeah its very useful. Especially foe things u just happen to stumble on and might be hard to find again if its deep in a bunch of different folders w/ a weird name lol.
And the custom activity short cuts allows u to open to any activity just about that any app does

Eris Tinkering

Hey I have a questoin, I dont know if anyone can find the awsner, but here it goes. The eris has a nice 5 mega pixel camera; if you take off the back of your eris case and you see next to the camera on the right side a rubber stopper. This rubber stopper I have taken off to find 2 small what look to be mounts for led lights. I dont know what they are. I was wondering if anyone knows what these two small cylindar looking things are behind the rubber stopper. My ultimate goal is to eventually take apart the eris, mount a small led light on the right side of the camera were the rubber stopper is. The point I want to make is that if i dont need to do any soldering, by adding a small wire to the power and a small switch that i plan to add on the side so i can esily push the button like the volume up or down and the light will turn on and off.
And if these two little cylindar things are led mounts then it would be alot less work. Please someone tell me what I am looking at, behind the rubber stopper on my eris
Pretty sure those are factory calibration/test ports. That's what someone once told me.

I'm pretty excited te see this work. I don't have any led just laying around but I'm gonna test my old Eris for voltage at those points your talking about. Some questions I have though. Are you trying to make a flash for the camera or just something decorative like a light mod? What type of led are you trying to use and what is the required voltage to light them?
[DINC]¦[2.15.00.11.19]¦[INCREDIKERNEL]
Ok I just tested those ports and there is not any voltage there. I did test a few other spots on the board and had good 4v readings on all of them. So a micro switch setup would for sure work.

As long as whatever LED you use doesn't try to pull more amperage than the particular circuits you use can handle. Then those circuits would burn up and incapacitate the phone.

I sort of understand that. I'm a mech not an electrician though. So is there a way to measure the max effective amp draw on the board? As far as led goes I'm thinking about the bright flash type led that's found in most flash capable phones. I understand we wouldn't be able to scale brightness like on my DINC. But to atleast push a mini toggle and have it light up would be cool.

No there isn't a way, at least not realistically. It would probably be safest, and possibly easiest to just wire the toggle switch and LED directly to the contacts that touch the battery instead of taking a chance hosing the phone by 1) trying to attach wires to circuitry in the middle of the phone and 2) possibly burning out the circuitry by drawing too much amperage.
DO NOT HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BLOWING UP ANYONE'S PHONE!
But I can't think of a reason that would have any problem. Straight to the source!
Or you could just duct-tape a made-for-camera battery to the back of the phone with wires sticking out.

All this info These Are GREATE POSTS!!! I am working slowly won't see my mod done for a while, But With everything you guys have posted I am going to cut out a small 3x2 cm oval in back of eris case, then cut A small opening on right side directly across from volume up down.
1.
Each hole will have respectively, Back hole next to camera Just a led light source mod, Not worring about flash while camera takes shot, just a light mod that will always turn on
2.
A small push button on and off switch like you see on many routers, and other small electronics. I mean very small the size of the search icon or so.
With the button solderd to the battery, or another power producing source maybe even a speacial battery mod placed inside eris housing
3.Connect all led mounted next to camera in back, and power button so when I push small button on right site of phone led turns on.
I am doing this slowely so it looks professional. and you won't be able to tell the led or button were not made for the eris stock phone.
AGAIN THANKS FOR THE HELP, information and IDEAS!!!!!

Hey mjgdroid, So I've been sitting here thinking and staring this little Eris down... Was trying to think to myself the best way to do this mod and have it look "stock". A few brain farts later and I have effectivly led my self to believe that the only realistic location for the leds to be mounted would be in the diagnostic port. I think two leds would fit there just fine. After staring at the Eris even more I was pondering where the switch would go. After being inside the Eris a couple of times before I remembered that on the inside of the Eris on the right there is the speaker and a very small cavity beside it. I think this would be the location for the mini push switch. This spot would be good because it woudnt be effected by the frame screws or the board. As far as wiring, I think the best bet would be either stripped headphone wire or ribbon wire soldered directly to the inside part of the battery terminals inside the phone case.*not the part you see when you remove the battery cover and battery.
I was also tinkering with the thought of a 3 or 5 led "strip" light mounted to the inside of the battery cover itself. Holes ported of course so the leds could be seen from the outside. Refer to the picture for an idea of what I was thinking
Sorry about my grammer and spelling. To tired to care enough to fix it

Is that an Eris in your pocket or are you just landing a plane? (landing strip)
Actually, that's a great idea. Wonder how much room would be needed, if there's a pre-made strip of LEDs mounted to something thin enough to fit between the battery and the back of the case.

LOL, your funny. But hey, I actually had this idea because a friend of mine had a few of these led "Strips" that he was wiring into his Scion for accent lighting. They were bright enough that at night they could actually light up his engine bay. The ones he had were red so the wern't extremely bright. Before he put them in he showed them to me. The neat thing about these led strips are that they are paper thin. Well maybe as thick as a credit card. The leds were probably no more thicker than the raised letters of a credit card. So I don't think thickness would be an issue. Excpecially once each tiny hole is ported for the leds. The thing that I also remember was when he showed them to me before he put them in they were powered by a demo power pack like you would see them attached to so you could try them before you buy them. That power pack was only two aa batteries. So to power these leds off the phone battery I don't think would be an issue. Now the next issue is to find out where to get them because he got his from a swap meet.
I've posted a picture of these things. Its not the exact ones he had but this will give you a good idea what they look like.

That's me. Funny Kevin!
Just beware, the LEDs have a voltage rating, and I don't feel like looking at the voltage of my battery right now. 9.6V sounds familiar. 12V LEDs would probably be more adviseable in that case. Check first.

[Q] Is SGS2 not for me?

Hola!
So I really really REALLY like SGS2 and would love to get one. But before I do, one question...
I like to keep my phone plugged in and turned on while I'm at work or at home at the computer. But having done some reading, I see that SGS2 is susceptible to the screen burn in issue. Is that true? Should I not get it in that case?
As I said, I REALLY like the phone, but if I need to change my usage habits just to avoid a known issue, I'd rather look for an alternative.

OP - SGS2 is NOT for you. Further if you like to keep a phone plugged into computer at all times, I suggest the much cheaper MagicJack.
yes, I'm aware of what type of screen it has, thank you. That's the reason I asked about the issue.
I've never had a phone with an amoled screen, so I can only go off of others' experience.
What I'm wondering about is if there are any solutions that would go along with my usage habits. I don't remember what phone I was reading about (Nexus One?), but it had a feature where it would display a moving clock screensaver when docked in. Something along those lines when plugged into USB? Or maybe there are some new technology improvements in SGS2 that I don't know about?

If you're going to leave the screen on for a long time every day on the same screen, there will be a burn in. But I imagine with normal use (even for extended periods of time, but the screen changes screens often) there shouldn't be any problems.
So I'd probably skip on this phone if you leave the phone on for 8 hours on the same screen. Maybe the HTC Sensation? Also a VERY good phone, just not as good as the SGS2 ^^

Yeah, I actually use it. But I don't always read the texts right away while working. And if the phone is unplugged, it will go back to sleep after a popup shows up.
It's just a personal preference =)
Its funny how lazy people have gotten.
I had original sgs2 for about a year and left it on bright screens with random things on with no burn in issues.
Had sgs2 for a month and have left it on overnight while on lockscreen(bright orange) and others and have no burn in issues.
I haven't personally seen any claims of burn on these forums or sgs forums. Just mostly people asking about it.

Ha, have to admit, I'm pretty lazy
But that's interesting that there's been no reports of it happening... Hmm wonder if I should just say F it and go for it. But then again, I guess you'd have to be consistent about leaving your screen on for long periods of time. I doubt it would burn in if you leave it on for a night or two.
Why don't you go search some of the SGS and variant threads as well as the Nexus S. They use the same screen technology and have been out a lot longer. If they aren't experiencing issues you probably won't either.

I did search before creating the thread. I saw some people reporting burn ins on other phones, but wasn't sure if anything has been improved lately technology-wise that could prevent the issue. I guess not...
I do realize though that it's quite early to see such reports on SGS2.

yes you can and will burn in your AMOLED screen if left on all the time.
my nexus one actually has in the instruction manual to not use the phone for more than 30 minutes of screen on time. that's actually written in the OFFICIAL manual. perhaps later generations of amoled from samsung got better, but burn in still will happen.
note: i use my nexus one with screen on for 3 hours at a time, but i just dont leave a static image in one spot. i'm constantly web browsing etc so no real issue of major burn in. however my status bar did get burnt into the screen after the first month of owning the nexus one. not bad, but present.

[Q] A ghost in the phone?

I have a droid X2 rooted and sbf'ed with 2.3.4. I also have a desk dock from Verizon. When I place the phone into the dock (which I do at night) strange things begin to happen. I hear clicking sounds coming from the phone -- the sounds made when you tap on the screen! It goes on intermittently all night, and in the morning instead of the standard desk clock display that kicks in when the phone is docked I have other displays on the screen. Several times it's been the dialer along with a dialog saying "emergency calls only" (who the hell was this ghost trying to call?), a few times the Audible app was on the screen, but with nothing playing. Other times it's been some random app.
I have had to wipe every last widget from the dock screen, and before placing the phone on the dock I switch to a blank homescreen and remove the status and dock bars (thanks, GoLauncher!) to avoid any problems. Not that it's been 100% ... this morning I found the Handcent app running.
Anyone know just WTF is going on here?
Gasper trying to talk to the dead?
I had a problem like that but with out the dock, I had to clean the screen REAL good. Not sure if that would work in this instance but give it a try.

I know the screen acts crazy when ur phone is getting incorrect voltage from the charger/dock...
Might be hardware related tho also...have u.contacted Verizon? Maybe u have urself a "faulty" malfunctioning dock(or even phone)
Good luck...u could always download a ghost detector and see what's going on also hahah

I've had this happen. Try another charger if you have one with the dock then without to help isolate the problem.

I did switch to another charger that has a slightly higher current output (850 ma) and that seems to have done the job. But I'm not uncrossing my fingers until the phone doesn't misbehave for at least a week. But thanks for the suggestion.

Rezound - Issues List

For all those lucky enough to have their hands on a Rezound, please post any problems you are noticing (dropping calls, bad bluetooth, rebooting, etc).
SERIOUS Widespread (A lot of people seem to be speaking up) Issues:
1) Heat Issues (130+ degrees)
2) Dead Pixels
Other Widespread (A lot of people seem to be speaking up) Issues:
1) Since the SD Card now shows as "SD Card 2" many apps which do not know to look for that as the true SD card will not find items on your SD Card.
2) Birthday integration from facebook (birthday in the people app shows a day early) [SAME AS ON INCREDIBLE]
4) A high pitched whine while listening to music through headphones [MANY people have this]
5) The soft buttons turn pink
Other Raised Issues But May Be User/Phone Specific Rather than Common:
1) Notification sounds change seemingly at random
2) Light leakage on the bottom underneath the capacative buttons
If you are having any problems, please head over to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359862
and post your problem and your manufacture date/batch number. Maybe we can figure out if these are just for a specific batch of phones.
Thanks!

My battery is great. I was in a 4g area tonight for 3 hours. Sittin idle in pockey only to check a few texts and one 3 minute call, i lost 9% of my battery. The 4g on the rezound can be turned off and use 3g only, even in a 4g area

Not sure if its supposed to go out, but my red soft keys dont stay lit, or light up sometimes. I think i may just be looking at them wanting them to glow? When i first saw them, i wasnt gonna get it. It bothered me that much. But when they light up, it is not bothersome at all. I really like it. Glad i just bought it and didnt let my mind get set against it. As i type this, they are out. Not sure if its sone sort or battery saving thing? They aeem to light up randomly?

I think turning off the 4g radio helps this phone a lot. Under networks, go into network settings then preferred and you can set it to cdma or lte/cdma.

basically you didn't really do much of anything with the phone in that time. id like to see much battery drain there is with it constantly using 4g data w/ the screen on the whole time, for 3 hours. my Thunderbolt would die before the 3 hour mark(stock battery).
Batteries can be replaced with extended batteries. While very important, would still like to hear if there are reboot problems or Bluetooth problems or anything else.

nah, just like on the incredible, they work based off ambient light. tunr off all lights or cover the area by the ear piece, they'll come on. turn on a light and put the phone under said light, they'll turn off.

Awesome. With 4G off I am sure it can be manageable. Can't wait to get this phone in 2 weeks.
no prob man..haha on some of the later sense 2/3 hybrid incredible roms, devs couldnt figure out how to turn them off and use the ambient light sensor....so they were stuck on lol
believe me, when i first got my inc, i had no idea why it did that either until someone explained it to me too

Doesn't work quite that way for me, to be honest. I was sitting outside in the dark tonight, and they would just not come on sometimes. Most frequently, when I unlocked the phone and explored the home screen, they would stay off. But sitting here now, in a lit room, they do the same thing. Let the phone sit for a bit, and on they come. Weird.
It does seem like an issue to me. Just an annoyance.
Have not tried Bluetooth functionality yet. No random reboots yet. Had trouble getting Wifi to work at the house. Turns out I put the wrong MAC address in my wireless router MAC filter list. User error on that one.

Not sure if this is worth it's own thread... guess I'll just post it here. I've heard some questions elsewhere about weight. I weighed the Thunderbolt and Rezound. Here are the weights I measured.
Rezound - 170 g.
Thunderbolt - 195 g.
So the Rezound is still a hefty boy. Not as hefty as the Thunderbolt, though.
Maybe you've got a defective one? They're supposed to work based on ambient lighting. Thats weird.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
They do, I bet if he covered it with his finger it'd go on, then go off when directly next to a light (each for several seconds).
A problem is often HTC's settings for ambient light aren't the best, and they won't go on at a relatively dark area because there is a light off in the distance that it picks up.
I do believe there is a few second delay after determining if it's dark or light, so that it doesn't rapidly flicker when changing from light to dark areas.
My HTC incredible did the same thing, and the TB did too. No surprise to hear this
Exactly. Haha
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
One other thing about the capacitive buttons. Unless I have defective ones, they aren't exactly "red" when lit up. They look more like hot pink.
Personally, I don't mind. I roll with a green theme, and the pink is a nice subtle clash to the green and complement to the black bezel. If you're unlike me and are afraid of sporting a phone with pink buttons when it's lit up, I guess this should worry you.
hmm..all the videos i've seen looked red..interesting.
maybe that'll be like the ol famous 'pink hue' problem from our amoled incs! haha osme had it, some didn't

I think most pics posted online show it in the unlit state, where there is definitely a dark red color. I guess when lit, it's more like Magenta than pink... if you can tell the difference.
Odds are I'm the only one curious but, how's the quality on the earbuds that come with the phone?
Are they comparable to any of the models they sell?
Also as of now does it seem like most developers are holding out for the nexus? Seems to be the impression I am getting - sticking to my Thunderbolt for now...

I only have 8 days left, tell me why I should keep the G3?

Everything I like about the phone is irrelevant. I like it a lot but there are a lot of things I don't like Convince me why the things I hate about it don't matter much?
Screen auto brightness keeps it way too dim in a dark room.
Over sharpening text on certain webpages (Certain text on a light colored backgrounds looks awful until you zoom way in, basically unuseable sites).
On screen buttons mean less screen real estate (screenshot).
Need the ability to hide home row buttons on ALL screens (system apps too).
Knock off doesn't work on Google Now Launcher. (thanks to nfuNk user I discovered this still works if you double-tap the notifications bar, but not a real solution.)
Google Play Services using tons of battery life (no longer the case after first day... problem solved because LG appears to fake battery usage).
Way too much space used by toggles and sliders in notifications drop down. Killing volume slider was a must just to make it usable for other notifications.
Charging port is hard to plug into even with included cable and feels like it's going to bust sometimes. You have to slide in from the top. Very un-inotive.
My MHL adapter won't plug in at all and I found out it's because LG uses Slimport to do HDMI. What was wrong with MHL?
Many 3rd party apps I've installed that I know support multi-window don't show up as an option to use them in multi-window.
Need the ability to change default options for QuickMemo and Voice shortcut when you swipe up from Home button.
Capturing screenshot has no delete or edit in notification panel, Just a share option, better than nothing.
Whites don't look as bright as my GS4, there is even kind of a greyish/pinkish hue to them.
Black don't look black as they do on the Galaxy S4. They are gery instead of black.
Voicemail integration for google voice doesn't work seamlessly with built in voicemail. (see screenshot)
Reverse the order of recent apps (most recent should be at bottom right).
Last.fm isn't scrobbling when listening via Google Play music. Worked on my previous GS4. (edit: fixed by setting Google Play as default music player)
Date naming for the camera filenames is awful. "0911141023.jpg" should be something like 201409111023.jpg for better file sorting.
SwiftKey types but nothing shows up on some web page text boxes until I zoom in/out or scroll the screen around. Happened on my GS4 too but not nearly as often
More than one caller has complained it sounds like I'm cutting out or mumbling when talking.
DashClock takes two touches after returning to home screen to launch some of the associated extension apps (didn't happen on GS4).
Notification LED isn't nearly bright enough and doesn't flash often enough.
Not reading my SD card correctly and randomly deleted a bunch of files (managed to get it working for now despite having to recopy files from a backup, still problems with renaming/moving files)
H/W+ decoder in MX Player resulted in many scenes being very pixelated. Not the case for some video on my GS4.
In the battery stats, when you click on a listed program it doesn't give you the data usage in megabytes or gigabytes for that program. GS4 and stock Android does.
Clip tray doesn't work in large text input fields on webpages.
IR doesn't seem as powerful as GS4. It worked fine on a Sony TV on my GS4, it was finicky on the LG G3.
No ability to add more than 5 default room profiles in the QuickRemote. Lame.
Ten tries at knock code is way too many. Needs to lock you out after 3 or 4 attempts. Often doesn't even recognize a wrong knock code as incorrect.
WiFi is less than stellar (see screenshot)
Just my complaints. Absolutely no pro's are included. I really want to keep this phone because there is a lot about it that I like but much of the cons are making me rethin it. Why aren't their more companies offering good batteries, NFC/Qi backs, etc.?
On number 29, I believe after ten it wipes your phone not lock you out. So ten might be a good idea.
On your overall list I don't see anything that is a big deal except maybe the display seems to bother you quite a bit. All the rest of the stuff are just the usual annoyances. Might not see the exact same issues on another phone but there will be just as many.
That said if the display really bothers you a lot you should return it.
Oh yay, a "convince me" thread. Show some sack, and make your own decisions. If there are things you don't like, only you can decide if you can live with them. How is anyone supposed to convince you?
If you don't like stock screen brightness use Lux.
You can use any other Launcher that supports Gestures and set up Knock Off with that without any issues.
You can try changing your DPI to gain more screen real estate.
You can use Flex Multi Window app to add whatever apps you want to the Multi Window.
You can change your LED for notifications with various apps and mods.
My WiFi works far better than it did on my S4 so not sure why yours isn't?
I think most of your dislikes could be fixed without getting a new phone. Every phone will have it's list of " annoying things " I think the G3 is a great phone myself even without a custom recovery and Roms. Although I'm excited to get that going as well

I've got until next Thursday to return mine. All of my problems deal in the LGDroid software. If the phone's bootloader is unlocked I will be happier than a hound dog eating steak.

Works for me.

On Amazon now you can get an OEM Battery for $30 or you can get the Caseology or Trendon 2 Battery + AC/USB Charger for about $30 as well.
Those ones people are saying are about 90% of what the OEM one is I guess.

Links please? All the batteries I see on Amazon that have supposed good reviews are stuffed with fake reviews that turned out to be junk when I researched them elsewhere.
I know a lot of Anker batteries aren't all that great but their warranty is fantastic and I have first hand experience with that. It's the reason I have 3 reasonably well working batteries and two compact wall chargers that work more than well enough for traveling for a measly $26 for my GS4. That option doesn't even exist for the G3.

Well a friend of mine has the Caseology ones that he ordered right from Amazon. I'll look for the link but it's the ones with 2 Batteries and a Charger.
And I've spoken to a few here on XDA that got the OEM LG Battery off there as well and they've said that Battery is just the same same as the one that came with the phone, even though the writing on the Battery differs a little from the stock one... Same Battery and it's made in LG factory I guess.
I'm with you though.. I miss having my Anker Battery I had for my S4. That Battery was awesome.
LG and the other companies haven't made it easy to get a good spare at all.

Thanks everyone for all the tips on various apps and ways to fix some of the things that are bothering me. If I keep this phone (and I probably will) I'll look into rooting so that i can do a lot of the xposed stuff.
Root it and just about all your complaining will go away even the on screen buttons
on #1: maybe you are wrong about what is way too dim. when you are in a dark environment with the fone beeing pretty much the only light source you should keep it as dim as possible. give your eyes like half a minute to adapt to it. otherwise you possibly damage the low light reception of your eyes in the long run.
You already made your choice since you list 30 problems.

That might be true. Maybe my old phone was just way too bright and needlessly killing battery since I can see this one just fine. It's just a shock and something I noticed right away.

Not at all. I only listed the negatives. There are plenty of positives about this phone and that's why I needed to point out everything I don't like about it to try and convince myself to save $599. I want to keep it, but not if there is something out there as compact with as big of a screen as this. I'm afraid I won't find it so I'll be "stuck" with this G3.
I'm test driving a iPhone through T-Mobile right now and I absolutely hate everything about it except the fingerprint scanner. It's amazing. I hope LG can copy that tech into the G4 as a back button. It's even better than knock code IMO.
