I want to play Power Point presentation using my Qtek 9100 on video projector ...
Does anybody know is there a way to do that ? Maybe using some accessory or bluetooth connection if present on projector?
Thanks
You can't
No I am afraid you can't do that.... they haven't given that possibility I really wonder why. When one pays so much this is the one thing that is really missing. A direct TV out.

SOTI pocket controller
You can do this from the PDA via a PC hooked to the projector using Soft Object Technology's Pocket Controller. I bought it originally for my Wallaby, recently got a Wizard and am using it there now. Nifty application, you can do everything with the desktop image that you can do with the touchscreen, and I think it lets you record a movie of you doing stuff on the PDA.
More info here: http://www.soti.net/
Well worth the registration cost IMO

That's prety cool I'd get one to try but I keep my presentations on the SD card... LOL kinda hard to show the presentation if I have to take it out...heh. Currently I just transfer the presentation to someone's laptop and use theirs. Kinda "old tech" and not "high tech".

this looks like what you need
hmmmm... would this do the trick???

Maybe, why not... I am sure it would be more than 10 $!
I see that SpecTec has upgraded to 1024x768. Any other newer options out there?? Thanks!
BT?
I remember seeing that a projector supported bluetooth to transfer images. Wouldn't it be a solution for that, meaning you buy a bluetooth adaptor to hook to your projector and use the internal bluetooth to transmit your presentation? This way the SD port would remain available for the SD memory cards with the presentation.
If one finds it, please share...

I really wondering what you are 'lolz'-ing at. I'm not sure if you are ignorant or the Pakistan people (who sell the cords) are ignorant. As I have said a million time in this forum, getting the cable (cord) into a socket doesn't mean it works. You can connect a USB to 240V socket, doesn't mean you can charge your unit directly onto the phone (kids, dont try this at home).
How much do you understand about the USB connection, and the video connection (the yellow thing you've mentioned). Not to mentioned that one runs on digital and one runs on analog signal (at a different frequency), they probably runs at a different voltage anyway. And also, the fact that, a Wizard phone doens't have USB host to it, it wont do the job in the way you've mentioned.

Well a brave member on hofo has taken apart his 8525 and found something interesting. it look like the connector and tray for the vga video confrencing cam is all there. anyone want to take his 8525 apart, find the vga cam for front, and enable the video cam via the cab and see if this really works. link is here:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1113356
pics on thread. maybe we can now be like our tytn brothers and have video confrencing too!
Very interesting, and I noticed this too while I was taking chipset pics for the GPS project. I didn't mention it here because I had no idea how in the world we could get those parts. I think your only hope would be to buy a bricked TyTN that had the front cam.
i cant find anything on ebay or cnn.cn but maybe someone knows where to get this or it will show up somewhere soon and we can try this out. we need more people to come in here and see if anyone has one of these available so we can try this. maybe a member with a 8525 has a bricked tytn also and is willing to take it apart and get the cam so we can see if this is possible. lets not give up bc it would be a great addition.
Cingular Does not support video calling and these phones are not compatible with Tmo USA 3g Network. so this is a waste of time.
Actually, cingular is ready to deploy this feature, ive seen it in action and tested it out.
Cingulars service is called VCS video call sharing, its a crippled for of Video calling and will not support phones without specific VCS support.
and we are in the process of fixing this win the wm6 cooking.
Technically speaking if there was a 3rd party app that used the 3g connection to stream a vid via direct connect to another phone vid calling should be possible. But yea cingulars version of Vid callign coming soon is really a bootled version of what the network is capable of doing. Currently Vid calling test phase was sucessfull with cingular from sandiego to newyork. SO the network obviously supports it . And also there is a feature via opus/care that allows the new vid calling feature up aswell. So we must all wait and see. I would like to see when 2 tytns are trying to make a vid call with cingular sims. I wonder what would be the end result.

i have a tytn on cingular and would be willing to give it shot with another tytn owner.... we would have to get VCS enabled on the account though...
Yea thats a plus for u because i have a 85 which no frnt camera. It shld work theoritically.I mean i just dont know the limitations of how it works with the cooked os. I mean, if not im surprised there isnt a 3rd party app that would stream the existing camera through a app. The connection shouldnt matter through a 3rd party app because it can use the data portion as a program streams files over the net. A video call directly from the network would def require the feature to be added . Currently they blocked acesses to employeess to add these features on a company account but it is enabled to be chosen for a customers account. They already preloaded it into the system. I guess its all trial and error. There launching a LG first with the more primitve vid sharing which is suppose to be the hot thing for summer . But unfortunelty this doesnt mean 30 fps live session. Its limited into increments. I have no idea why they did this. It certinly makes us look retarted compared to what the network is capable of doing. I guess we just all have to expirement and see.

well i actually have a TyTn and an 8525 but would be willing to throw it on my account anyway(if its not to expensive, maybe a PPU) just in case i encounter anyone to try it with, would be interesting to see if it would even interact with the LG... also i need to note that the tytn does use a different dpadmenu.dll in order for video calling... and it also uses a different dpadmenu.dll for PTT... so far i have failed at trying to make them coexist.. but working on it
I've used video calling on an 8525 with one of the WM6 ROM's on Vodafone's network in NZ. Unfortunately with no front camera you can see the other party but they can't see you. I haven't found a way of switching the video calling software to use the 8525's back camera so at least the other party can see stuff from there.

i wouldnt mind the video calling.. great for live interactive pr0n but would be bad if i had to look at your face ... the cingular roms do support the front cam... but it requires a different dpadmenu.dll and dialer.... and i dont suggest anyone hack up their 8525 until 2 people with TyTn's can test it on cingular network..
I traded my Cingular 8525 in for the Softbank version (and love the new phone) - but do not know how to use the Front Facing cam (or at least what apps can use it). Is there something I need to do to utilize it in apps (Messenger, Skype, etc).
Also, Does Cingular disable the Internet Calling?
I am game for trying the cam test on Cingular.
I have done the complete housing with a full tutorial and pics inculded in the link below. The front camera I installed came from a TYTN.
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1152710&page=1&pp=15
Now I have used the trial version of coolcamera from ateksoftDOTcom which does enable the fron camera. Theres still some glitches that the developer has to work out. The quality on the camera is quite nice actually. I'm not too concerned about video calling but would rather have the capability of using it to record simple video or taken snap shot pics. Some1 mention flashing the rom to enable this feature which is exactly what I was looking to do. So lets get together and make this happen ya'll.
Where to get camera?
This project seems like a longshot but really interests me. Obstacles:
-I would need a front camera
-I'm on an unlocked Cingular 8525 in the US on T-Mobile
-They don't support video calling
-EDGE is fastest they support, no 3G or UMTS
-I may need a new case to fit this camera
Maybe I could just dremmel (or drill?) a little hole so the camera could see out. But what is this camera piece? There must be an easier way to aquire this then getting an entire spare phone to take it out of.
I was curious if any on here have used this app? I love the developer (have his SpeedHUD app)..... If anyone can does use it, I would love your opinion. I am hesitant to spend much on a bluetooth OBD tool. I think the one he recommends is around $100.
here is a link to his site for those interested: Torque
Here is a description (from his site linked above) also:
Torque is an engine diagnostics application for Android that allows you to directly monitor your car engine control unit (ECU) and retrieve various information from the sensors connected to it as well as use your phones internal GPS and accelerometer sensors to graph other information such as acceleration
Torque can be used to view any stored fault codes on your vehicles ECU, then, after a mechanic fixing the fault, it also can clear the fault codes allowing you to clear the ‘Check Engine’ light warning on your dashboard
Torque can use a multitude of OBD adapters, ranging from the cheap (and slightly buggy) adapters you can find on ebay, to the more reliable PLX Devices Kiwi Bluetooth and OBDKey which are the amongst the best.
That's pretty damn cool... I'm not a car enthusiast, but even so I kind of want to get one of those BT adapters and try it out
^ yeah, same boat. I have a bad gas cap so my check engine light is CONSTANTLY on. Now I just ignore it because "I KNOW" that's the cause... heaven forbid something else be wrong with my car and I've just ignored it. Would be especially nice since this app also lets you CLEAR THE CODE (no more check engine light).
Really need to find a good/cheap BT adapter that will work with this app!!!
I'm interested in this too. The only thing I wonder about is the Bluetooth connection. There was a thread somewhere about wii remotes not working with some app on the market and the explanation was the Bluetooth version we have (3.0) would require considerable changes to make it work. I don't want to fork out the cash only to find out they are not compatible. I read that thread weeks ago, so I don't remember the particulars. Hopefully, someone will chime in that has already tried it.
Hmm. I've had no issues connecting with a few bluetooth devices... Never really had that concern, hope there are no issues. Wonder if you could return an item for that...
I was going to ask in his forum if anyone has tried it on a Galaxy S of any sort, but I never got the password e-mail. I'll try again later. Here's the thread that is making me balk. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have given it a second thought.
Bluetooth 3.0 Compatible Controllers for Gaming?
I just got the cheapest BT ODB2 dongle from eBay (<$30), and it works fine on my 2010 Silverado HD. The throttle position sensor didn't seem to work right (my foot does just as well ), but the boost sensor seems like it may have...? I only drove around the block - we'll see when I'm getting on the freeway tomorrow. Being a new truck, there are no SES lights for me to check. Also, my truck has BT for the stereo, and there didn't seem to be any issues being connected to both.
In short, it works just fine for what it seems to be for (simple guages & such).

A new $10 gas cap and a $25 AutoZone code reader would probably be cheaper and easier.
The gas caps for my car go bad every few months, it's just a design flaw I think. With all of the additional features the app offers + the cool factor, I think its worth it. May give one of the cheaper cables a try.
down8, got a link for the cable you got man?
Awesome + Finally!
I've been waiting for one of these to come out for some time. I have had a BT adapter in my car, as I used it with my Nokia N810 (using a software called CARMAN). It has some +/-'s, but this new software (Torque) is simply amazing.
Ended up using the free version, but purchased as soon as I got home. Will do some more testing and report soon.
I think it is pretty cool app, even though I can scan the codes for free at an AutoZone, but if you mod your car the app will come handy when you need to setup your CAI to by-pass ECU, etc.
I've been playing around with this app using a $30 Chinese bt dongle from ebay. It works great, you don't need the $100 one unless you plan to use it for pro level diagnostics (which some people do). It's got a ton of cool functions, the least of which is being able to read and reset fault codes. But I use for that too. It may not be able to read all the OBD output from your car, for example, it won't list the turbo boost for my Volvo, but that is vehicle dependent. Check out the forums on the dev's site; lots of good info there. Btw, I'm using the paid version.

wow, this is a great idea. i have not tried it yet, as i dont have an obdII to BT, but this looks awesome.
On a side note, as i dont have the obdII/BT connection yet, I do have an OBDII to USB cable. Can this or another app use that? I guess I would have to get a USB to microUSB adaptor to plug into phone.... how about any computer programs that will use the ODB to USB adaptor to monitor car data/engine lights?

I read that Eugenes froyo ROM has the FM radio apk, and it actually produces static, which means the radio is actually being powered and sending back some sort of signal. Maybe the app is just tuning to the wrong stations(in asia they use even numbered bands). Maybe all we need to do is modify the apk to tune to odd numbered bands?
Porting libs did not seem to produce any results but i also read the "cross flashing" the kernal of the galaxy s and the vibrant could produce some results.
Any dev wanna get cracking on this?
Hey idk if you've read through this yet but check it out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=738318
just showing you since its related.
In the FMRadio settings in the app you can select your region. The FM radio shows up in android.policy.jar, services.jar, framework.jar. I decompiled all 3 from the i9000 dump and the Vibrant and ran a diff on the smali files. The only difference I have found between the 2 the device names present which are just text strings. So everything is on my phone. When I press play or try scanning for stations the phone restarts before anything is sent to logcat I am stumped atm.
This is everything I have found that has to do with fmradio that is on my phone right now:
*/etc/asound.conf
*android.policy.jar, services.jar, framework.jar
*/lib/modules/Si4709_driver.ko
*/system/lib/libfmradio_jni.so
*/system/bin/si4709_test
*/system/app/FMRadio.apk (deodexed)
*uncommented fm radio module in the init.rc
*Secret code *#*#0368#*#*

I don't think jtag is even necessary. The bcm4329 it set to download a firmware every time it is loaded, so it would be just a matter of finding the right firmware (currently in /system/etc/wifi) and/or nvram settings (.txt files in that same dir). THere are some interesting settings in there (i9000 version actually has comments), but nothing seems directly related to FMradio. In fact, most strings are the same between the vibrant and galaxy.
OR there is a setting in the 1st bootloader (boot.bin) that changes the address of the FMradio part.
Also, when I loaded eugene's froyo rom, I did NOT hear static. I didn't get the "cannot turn on fm radio" message, but nothing else happens either. Although there are no reboots during 'si4709_test -p up' like in stock vibrant.
Also, I've played with a few things in the kernel/si4709 driver. One doesn't seem to make any change, another causes the phone to reboot
Code:
// FM radio reset pin control
//s3c_gpio_slp_cfgpin(GPIO_FM_RST, S3C_GPIO_SLP_PREV);
Uncomment that in 'wm8994_aries.c'. Recompile. Flash zImage. No change.
Like I speculated in the THINKTANK thread, stock 4709/kernel expect the FM radio at ic2-8, 0x20 but there is no such device in the vibrant. There is an unclaimed device in i2c-12, but changing the si4709 code to point to that and I get reboots during an attempted scan.
No 9000 teardowns I've seen metion the si4709 so I can only assume that samsung uses the si4709 kernel module to interface with the bcm4329 via i2c.
I would like to try loading the 4329 fw from the gxs on the vibrant and see if that changes anything.
Other than this, most stuff seems the same in the code.
radiotime
have any of you considered just getting radiotime. its a program that has radio through streaming data. and if ur local stations have streaming audio it would show up in the local stations tab. i use it. its really ok. yest it uses the data portion of the phone. i understand you guys are trying to figure out to use the phones antenna for local stations. but in the meantime if interested. try google'in the program radiotime.
Im personally less concerned with the receiver then the transmitter, and getting the receiver working is just a step towards that theoretical wonder
You cant transmit FM radio using an app. You need the actual radio working. imagine being in a car and listening to music over your amazing car speakers rather than headphones.
You sir entirely miss the point.
No one wants to use data.they want the fm radio.

Hello, I have been on the planet longer than you.
The point here is to find a. Whether the fm chip is present. B. Whether it can be activated and used. And c. How to apply that knowledge into a rom form or apk to avoid heavy data usage of streaming. The obvious radio streaming apps though having a similar application are not necessarily helpful in this thread.

No but until we get peripheral support working something connected through the 3.5 would probably be more viable.
Somehow create an application which creates/sends sounds through 3.5 and somehow converts it to power 2leds.
One possible problem I can think of would be to allow the sound to play while the camera is in use. For some reason the vibrant won't allow use of music player at same time as camera. Might be something in which can be easily fixed though, idk.
A mod/attachment like this though can be very good investment as it would work on any phone with a 3.5mm.

Could somebody please explain the technical reasons why a led flash couldn't be attached to the camera? Isn't there any other option? My personal case was that I wanted this phone with Flash, but I'm in Spain where GSM networks are the law. None of the GSM Galaxy S's had LED flash
What options do we have?
Screw a LED flash or the FFC. I need something more functional like a LED indicator. I would think that the slot for the FFC could double as some type of piggyback or at the least just a spot for a LED indicator to be put there.
