i just checked htcdev.com and found that they just unlock the boot-loader for Amaze 4G (T-Mobile)
and Amaze 4G (T-Mobile) has been released after our jetstream.
i don't know why htc delaying the unlock of jetstream
At&t has restriction htc to keep locking the boot-loader
So please any at&t members, contact them requesting to unlock the boot -loader

I did, both At&t and HTC. AT&T said bootloader will not be unlocked. HTC said bootloader is scheduled to be unlocked Q2 of 2012 or Q3 of 2012 latest.

it pissed me off, but i think that deep inside - i already gave hope on the official unlock/updates.

They never said the Sprint versino would be unlocked at launch.
Isn't HTC already unlocking the bootloaders in August though? It just looks like our phones will ship with the newest firmware/bootloader.
Hmm I wouldn't be surprised by the time rogers gets theirs we have the first update that preps the phone to be unlocked.
The sensation bootloaders are to be unlocked in august, the evo 3d in september so they most likely will have the latest firmware at launch.

I do not see those last two words in your original quote. Might be waiting months like we are for that unlock...
If theirs truely is unlocked at launch, is it possible to flash the bootloader over or impossible because the GSM bootloader won't be compatible with the CDMA phone?
Could they learn from from the GSM version? Pretty sure... Can you flash it right over to the CDMA version? Not a chance in hell... =/

It is likely a very safe idea to not even try to flash it...if it would even allow it.
...and we're still not sure what HTC means by 'unlocked bootloader'...even though that would suggest that they all come 's-off' I highly highly doubt that. would it be as simple as "fastboot oem unlock" ?? That's more likely but I still doubt that. I am very curious to see exactly wtf they do to ship things unlocked.
...I would be surprised if they didn't ship locked and encrypted to the gills. Though they will likely have their 'unlock signup/trade in your warranty' website live for launch, which sounds most likely.

Just got one, S-ON unfortunately.
Bootloader will not be unlocked until HTC releases their Web Application method of implementation.
As usual, Rogers talks out of their ass...

Please note , that katie was also unlocked from her employment at rogers for even remotely implying that you could uninstall our carrier bloatware.

So I'm getting the razr tomorrow from amazon.de and I'm a little confused about the bootloader.
Didn't Motorola say the bootloader would be locked/unlocked based on carrier? But now I'm reading they're all locked atm.
If Motorola told the truth I don't see why the razr from amazon should have a locked bootloader.
Can anybody clear this up?

Apparently the bootloader will be unlocked when ice cream sandwich is released for the razr and when that happens your network provider will decide if they wish to allow that i suppose.
So if you have an unbranded phone (sim-free) you will get the unlocked bootloader but if it is branded to a network provider you will have to rely on them to allow it.
So Motorola did in fact lie, because they said it would be up to the carrier if the bootloader will be locked or not.
Like I said, I'm getting my razr from amazon so it'll be unbranded and should be unlocked.
Er, no they didn't. They said it would be unlocked when ICS was released for the Razr. It has not yet been released, so until that time they have not lied.

Thought I'd try to start a general Telus thread since there's stuff spread all over the place. Hope that's OK mods.
I bought my Telus Amaze on the second day out. Haven't tried to unlock the bootloader until now. Went through the HTCdev method and it failed. After submitting the hex code the dev site indicated it failed. No error code. Is there a solution?
I had trouble with the hexcode aswell, but I believe I just kept trying and it worked its self out, the htcdev website was being a dink half the time. I'm pretty sure there are other methods to unlock it

Unlock support for the Telus Amaze had been removed several weeks ago. There has been many request made to HTC for assistance. Last I seen on their Facebook page is that they are "working on it" ...no eta.
I've had the phone since day one and only decided to do the htcdev unlock after It had been removed.

Yeah, tried to unlock several times now and no go. I don't understand why they would remove support for Telus when adding support for tmobile. It sucks. I can't help but wonder if Telus has something to do with it. Didn't HTC promise to unlock all future bootloaders? It makes no sense to allow it for one carrier but not another.
wow im glad i unlocked mine the first day i got it, this beastmod rom is awesome.
So, I called HTC Canada to ask about unlocking the bootloader. I explained that I had attempted to unlock and it had failed. She said, "It should work, hold the line a minute." She then came back on and said I don't see the Telus model listed under supported devices. I pointed out that prior to the tmobile being added the telus version could be unlocked, but now it can't. She had nothing to say. I asked if HTC is working on adding it. Her response was, "All I can do is refer you to the htcdev website." Basically, she knew nothing and was totally useless. She implied that all I can do is wait and hope. While I love the phone, I'm now regretting buying it due to lack of support from htc.
So unless things change, there's no way I'll ever have ICS on my phone since I know from experience that Telus never has any interest in updating their phones.
I decided to be persistent and have emailed htc regarding the bootloader. Here is the series of responses. My initial question was: Attempts to unlock the bootloader fail. When will the Telus Amaze be added? I thought HTC made a commitment to unlock all bootloaders.

Are you saying that the bootloader is currently not unlockable because TELUS has placed restrictions which prevent me from unlocking my phone? I was under the impression that I bought an HTC phone, not a TELUS phone. Are you saying that HTC is waiting for permission or information from TELUS before it will add the TELUS Amaze to the htcdev site and make it unlockable. If so, do you know if TELUS has indicated a willingness to do this and it is forthcoming? If not I will be returning my HTC phone for a Samsung which is fully rootable.

Sorry to be so persistent but I just want to be sure I understand. Does a team at htcdev.com (or one associated with it) develop the bootloader, or does it come from the provider (Telus)? Would contacting Telus make any difference or are they just going to tell me that it is HTC who must make it available and that Telus has nothing to do with it.

My last response: I'm sorry but you are not answering my question, but simply repeating an apparent canned response. Please explain what "operator restrictions" are. Aren't I the operator? By operator do you mean carrier? The Tmobile Amaze is unlockable but the Telus Amaze is not. Is that because Tmobile allows it but Telus doesn't?
All I really want is a straight answer as to why this is the case. How are the phones different given that prior to the Tmobile being added to the htcdev site one could unlock the Telus Amaze too. Since the Tmobile was added the Telus will not unlock.
Please provide a straight and clear answer. I am rapidly losing faith in HTC. Given the recent court case loss to Apple, HTC cannot afford to alienate customers. I want to remain loyal but I feel I am being given the run-around.
UPDATE: Htc's last reply: We apologize if you feel that we are not providing you with enough information regarding the unlocking of the bootloader. However; we here at Technical Support really do not have that much information regarding this issue. This is on the development side of things that we do not have access to or clearance for. We do not support or trouble shoot this area of development. This is really a hands off area for us.
With regards to your question regarding "operator restrictions". This is a restriction based on the carrier, not the end user. We apologize as we are unable to elaborate any further on this issue. So who know's where we stand on this. Maybe HTC's right hand is working on it but their left hand doesn't know. Or maybe Telus has no intention of allowing us to unlock our bootloader. I guess we wait. The GSII is looking better and better at this point.
I've gotten a call from HTC support and received the same canned answers as well as direction to get in touch with Telus' support system.
I basically told the lady that their support staff isn't going to be able to tell me any more than she could and that I would really appreciate it if she could pass my request on to her supervisor and from there on the development side of things so I could get a solid answer as to wether or not this is a software related issue, or a "Telus has told us not to unlock their phones" issue.
If its the latter I can call them and start up a storm of curses and complaints, but until I do get a solid answer, I'll have telus and htc sending me back and forth to each others support lines.

Clearly somebody doesn't know what their talking about. Nothing will appear on Telus' website since it isn't software we are asking about. What a bunch of idiots.
This is typical. Htc says it's Telus' fault, Telus says it's htc's fault. In the meantime customers of both companies get ****ed.

I just got another msg back from HTC stating the usual "we're working on it" and recommended I speak with Telus to ensure they are away that the unlocked bootloader is an interest of their customers...

Just tried it and it failed as usual. Blank error msg. I see that the Wind and Mobilicity Amaze are both now listed but the Telus is not. This leads me to believe that is it Telus who is holding things up for us. Hope it comes soon.

Hey, thanks for posting this. Although they still haven't listed the Telus Amaze on their supported devices list it actually worked for me too this time. Finally I am unlocked and can root and flash.

Go to the HTCdev site above, sign up for a free account if you don't have one, log in with it and go to "Unlock bootloader" follow the instructions on the screen and they will walk you through the rest.

Upon finding out from T-mobile that they allow phones to be unlocked (as long as the customer is in good standing and hasn't had another phone unlocked in the past 3 months), I had it unlocked immediately not waiting for the emailed code.
Is there more than one code?
If so, is it true that any update to the phone will re-lock it to T-Mobile?
If so, how would a newbie re-lock it

I think I answered my own question. If the code is given by Tmo and it relocks it no problem. I'd the code is given by someone else, it relocks it to Tmo...no big deal. Same thing happens in other words.
I think be was just saying don't take it to another carrier.

I have a T-mobile HTC One that is locked to T-mobile and was wondering if it would be worth my time and effort to get it Sim unlocked and stay with T-mobile for the purpose of maybe getting the Android 4.4 Kit-Kat update sooner? I read that HTC USA is bringing it out "within 90 days" for all HTC Ones, but the Google Play edition within two weeks and the "unlocked" and developer editions within 30 days. I know I'm being impatient but I am looking forward to the new functions and am hoping that it fixes the horrible battery drain that I have noticed since the 4.3 update.
The phone is paid for and I have already called and am eligible to get the unlock code....
One of my questions is how to unlock it without a "foreign" sim? Can I just by a net talk or other phone company sim and unlock it then just pop the T-mobile sim back in? And if so would that qualify the phone as "unlocked" to get the update that much sooner? Also, would that cause me any issues with T-mobile's network? I know I could use one of the many fine roms here but my hacking skills are nil and I would prefer the factory update, I would rather not put my non existent skills to the test.
Please any and all help would be greatly appreciated! :highfive:

Getting your phone sim unlocked will not help you get the htc update faster,so if that's the only reason you need it unlocked do not waste your money on that.Probably will be a custom firmware available for your phone and can use that if can not wait for the official release from your carrier,but that may damage your waranty

even if you unlock it by an unlock code when updating using the built in update feature,will update to the tmobile rom,the "unlocked version" is the never locked version,that came unlocked with unbranded rom

not really bro, ur confusing what is the factory unlocked version international, to a sim unlocked tmo version, two diferent things lol hapened to me with the note2 i had, i recomnd being patient im sure our devs wont let us down:good:
