I tried to update my Archos 10.1IT (running UD 1.5) to 1.6RC4. UD is installed on the internal disk (I have 16GB internal, and no SD).
The update process fails with the message:
/system/xbin/uruk_upd: line 205: /var/lib/urukdroid/update/1323178404_2011.12.06_14:33:24: No such file or directory
Full /var/lib/urukdroid/update.log attached. There's no /var/lib/urukdroid/fail.log .
The system seems to be running fine and identifies itself as UD 1.6RC4. I'm just afraid something might have become unstable.

Hi.
Same Here. Failed to update from UD 1.5 to 1.6RC4. The process ends ok, but when I restart it I was getting The Application Launcher (process com.android.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly.
Going back to 1.5 again....

I don't get the laucher problems. 1.6RC5 seems to run normally in all aspects.
@Majipur:
If you have restarted yourself, you have killed the updateprocess because it would restart itself after finishing.
So you interupted the update before it was done.

Hi all,
Like all others I was very anxious to upgrade my Galaxy SII to the new Android ICS so I downloaded the firmware that was released a few days ago (the Hungarian version) and used Odin to flash my mobile.
First Odin failed to complete the operation, after some search I tried to specify the PDA only in Odin (I haven't specified the Phone or CSC) it gave me then PASS and when I start my mobile it launches and starts to install applications but stucks on this screen.
The phone can make and receive calls, and everything works properly but this screen does not fade out.
Now I downgraded to the 2.3.5 version.
Please can anyone help me I would be very grateful.
Thanx in advance.
Did you wipe data, if you did, I would advise to install cwm and find stock xxlpq and install that version

I, had the same problem today while installing new android OS. All went ok and then the, after boot, stuck on "Installing Applications".
I've search the internet and nothing could be found. After some trying I solve it, for me it was a matter of disk space. I had space on disk to install the new OS but not to install the applications by default afterwards.
Uninstalling something did the trick to me. Try it.
Hope it helps.

Thanx alot you saved the day. I uninstalled some applications and now I have Android 4.0.3 up and running smoothly.
Hi,
I've just got the same problem, did the uninstall of some apps, but had to figure out how to do it. Here how I did to help others:
- Restart phone
- on the lock screen, instead of swiping and getting stuck in "installing applications", just drop down notifications
- on notifications menu, tap where it should say "low on disk space". It will open "Applications" from the setting menu.
- Uninstall some apps until you get around "250MB" from the 2GB reserved by the system (250MB was what worked for me, that's the reason of the number; I had lower than 200MB before). I tried to move apps to SD Card to no avail, that's why I uninstalled the apps.
Hope this helps.

I have this problem but I don't have "low on disk space" in my notifications...
I have installed the Olive Tree Bible Reader on my NT running 1.4.2. When I attempt to access the Library/Account, I get the error message "The application BibleReader (process nook.biblereader.olivetree) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I am using the same version of the app without a problem on the same Nook Tablet when booted to CM7 from an SD card. The app also worked when I was rooted and on version 1.4.0. I took the NT back to stock this week when I made a bootable SD card.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and resetting the NT. But, I get the same error.
I run from the SD card most of the time, so this hasn't taken me out of commission, but it bugs me that I can't get it to work. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Has anyone found a fix?
maybe it is a message from god telling you to go to CM7
So far, that's the best answer I can come up with.
Lots of apps require some data only found on phones (assuming you've rooted and sideloaded that app). For example the free version of xda. This may be one.

Actually, I am not rooted. That is why I can't figure out what is going on. The app worked without a problem when I was rooted and it works when I am running CM7 from the SD card. The problem developed after I took the NT back to stock and had it repartitioned. I guess the lesson is to stop running stock. But, I would like it to work correctly.
I set up the Clockworkmod derivitive for Nook Tablet and tried to flash my rom and right away it returns an error message of "installation aborted" when trying to install from my microSD card. I am trying to figure out what to do as I looked at similar threads and it didn't seem to be very helpful in solving the issue. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!
It goes through the specific messages of :
Installing:xxxxxx
Finding Update Package......
Opening Update Package......
Installing Update.....
Installation Aborted.
More data please. What model of the Nook Tablet do you have ? ( 8/16 ) And what were you trying to load ? The devil is is the details...
.
I got that message once too.
I have the 16GB Nook Tablet model, rooted it months ago. I decided to install the internal version of CM7 since i've been using it off of the microSD for months. I was trying to install CM7 to the internal memory and it failed to install it.

What is the version of CWM Recovery and where did you get the CM7. Hmm, @CelticWebSolutions says he has not posted his newer, improved, better one just yet...
I got the CM7 version from http://raywaldo.com/2012/06/no-root-install-cm7-on-nook/ when the original link on the CM7 thread failed, I seached around the same thread and found a version on that link. Hmm, what does Ray Waldo say ? Did you get a good download ? Is the MD5 checksum good ? I am running @Succulent's version currently, but if @CelticWebSolution's new one is good/better, I'll be switching...
Okay, I had to try another CM7 image and that worked *flawlessly*. Now I have a new problem however, I flashed Google Apps and upon the start of it, I get an error message stating "The Application Google Services Framework has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try Again." Whenever I start it up now, I'm stuck at the screen "Welcome to Nook Tablet, Touch the Android to begin" and it appears to register my taps to the android *but* it won't respond beyond making the android logo glow. I am unable to advance within the menu. Is there any fix for this? I verified the MD5 sums on both and CM7 was working perfectly until I installed GApps.
Update: Problem Solved, Here is how I solved it. I deleted my data from CWM (if you have the default B&N 1.4.0 firmware on your microSD it will automatically draw you into CWM) so then I re-installed both CM7 and GApps at the same time and the problem was resolved. Hopefully it helps someone later down the line! Remember, for the prior issue, make *sure* you're using the internal version of the ROM and *not* the SD card version. Unlike with my experience with creating my LiveUSBs for Linux, you can't use one for the other task. Hopefully this helps!
Hi, y'all. So I rooted my Nook Tablet awhile ago...I bought it in November 2011, I think, and I rooted it shortly thereafter using Indirect's method. It has been working great until the last 3 days. I am able to download books, but when I try and download apps (even from the B&N appstore), they always fail. I have gotten the following two messages. I tried googling solutions, but I only came across others with the same problem suggesting that you update to 1.4.3, which I will obviously not be doing since I will lose the functionality. Here are the errors:
Sorry! The application DeviceManagerService (process com.bn.devicemanager) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Then there's a button to force close.
The second is: Sorry! The application DownloadAdmin (process com.bn.nook.dadmin) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. There's a button after that to force close.
Also, when the downloads fail it says it is because I may not have enough space for them, but there are like 10 gb left, so not sure what the problem is.
Anyone else experiencing this? I tried reinstalling the .apk files from Titanium Backup but it didn't help. Thanks!

FWIW I've run into this "not enough space" type of error when I downloaded those apps that expect to store their data on the external SDcard while I didn't have a card in the SDcard slot.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have a 32 gb SD card inserted, so that can't be the problem, either. That's why this is so frustrating!
Great. Now when I just restarted it, it is showing that it is back to software version 1.4.0 from 9.9.9. All I did was reinstall the devicemanager and download admin files; would this have somehow unrooted it?
Well, if root has been broken, can't you just root it again?
And if root is broken, you can also update to 1.4.3 before re-rooting, should you want to.

Yes, I can re-root it, it's just a time consuming process with my ancient PC.
If I update it to 1.4.3, won't that block the ability to root it?
Nope, 1.4.3 roots fine with both Brian's and Albert's sd-card methods. (And probably any others as well, but those are the ones I have tried.)
Surely it can't be that time consuming, regardless of the age of your PC? Albert's card is under 100MB to download and then burn to SD. (Brian's is bigger.)

Are there any benefits to updating it to 1.4.3 if I plan to root again?
If you are running stock there were some bug fixes in the updated firmwares. Personally I would not run stock below 1.4.2.
If you plan to run for example CM10 the firmware doesn't matter.

Thanks! Good to know about the firmware not mattering. Sounds like updating the software and then redoing the root is the way to go, even though it took forever last time.
How can I revert to 1.4.0 and start factory fresh with my NT?
Ok, please bear with me. I'm a noob, so don't know all the technical lingo for this stuff, so I hope what I'm saying will make sense. I was able to update to 1.4.3, but that took away the ability to use the Nook Color App Manager, which I love, because it kept all the apps on the Nook's stock screen, instead of having to switch to a different screen. I would like to try and remove 1.4.3 and go back to 1.4.0 (I also liked the ability to still have access to the in-store experience, and I haven't been to a B&N to see if that is still available with this root version). I tried using the process from Adam Outler to revert to 1.4.0, but it didn't work, and is still showing it is version 1.4.3, so not sure what I'm doing wrong. Is there a way to just remove 1.4.3? Somehow, when I ran the process to revert to 1.4.0, it reset my device like it should have, but it still seems to be rooted without the root ability (all the apps I have downloaded from Google Play are showing they are installed, but I can't access them from my NT and can't reinstall them). I'm guessing I need to re-root (I have down it twice, but then undone it trying to get back to 1.4.0). So...long story short, I think I'd just like to run whatever needs to be run to take my NT back to factory settings when it was first released in 2011 with 1.4.0. I have been searching for that, but just seem to find the same things I have tried. Can anyone please help with this? Thanks!
This is the thread I have followed most recently about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35089620
The repart.img that is mentioned here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836 will take you back to out of the box stock 1.4.0
You will loose everything you will to root again if you run it.
Great, thanks! Sounds like it is just what I was looking for.

For some reason, it took it back to 1.4.2 rather than 1.4.0, but I'm guessing that 1.4.0 may no longer be available? At any rate, I got it re-rooted and it was still having the problems, so I just went ahead and re-updated to 1.4.3 and re-rooted, so thanks for your help!
Well, 1.4.2 is better than 1.4.0 anyway, so no problem there I guess!

Did going to 1.4.3 and rerooting solve your problem? My Mother's NT is running a rooted 1.4.2 which I did ages ago, but recently on boot the BN downloader (or something to that effect) crashes and she can't download any BN apps because of it. She's also getting the out of space error you described.
I'm trying to convince her to switch to CM10.1 (which I did to my tablet not so long ago), but she refuses to do so until I can prove to her it's stable (personally I think the official RC is way more stable than the hodge podge that is the Nook OS any day, but she doesn't believe me since she's heard me complaining of the battery draining recently.) Either way I'd love to get her up and going again so she can go back to using it.

Yes! It sounds like she was getting the same errors I was getting, and it fixed the problem when I took it to 1.4.3. I just miss the nook color app manager that would allow stuff from the non-B&N market to appear on my home screen, but I've gotten used to the two home screens now, and it seems to work faster than before. One thing I will mention is that the above method asawi mentioned with the repart image frees up additional space on the nook. I think it must have re-partitioned it as part of installation (hence the name). Whereas before I had 11 gb for B&N storage and only 1 for "other" storage, after I did that update, it changed it so it was about 8 gb for B&N and 5 gb for "other." I liked that, as I don't have all that much stuff from B&N on my nook, but have more than 1 gb of other stuff, but your Mom may want to know how it affects her B&N storage.

If you're looking for a stable version of CM10, Succulent's CM10.0 dated 12/31 http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/11/03/cm10-0-jelly-bean-for-nook-tablet-uploading/ is very stable and its battery-consumption is not noticeably different than that of stock ROM.
