USB Drivers for odin.... - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
So, I rooted and flashed my SGS2 back in july... everything went perfectly... but the Asus that I used to flash has been sold, and since I flash using CWM, not odin, I had not even realized this.... until I had to root and flash my mom's i9000m
My new HP is having a really hard time trying to detect any of my android devices. Here is what I tried:
- USB debugging is most certainly on
- Putting phone in download, plugging into laptop, letting install drivers - NOTHING in odin
- Finding the samsung usb mobile device drivers on tutorials on the internet - NOTHING in odin
- Installing kies, letting that install drivers - still nothing in odin or kies
- Try different USB port
- Try different USB cable
- Try pulling the battery and sim
It definitely is not the phone, because my SGS2, or my parents S vibrant or S captivate are detected by kies or odin. Also I can get a connection to storage when phone is on, ect.
Is there anything I missed? This new HP is starting to piss me off lol. Everything went to smoothly on the Asus.

did you turn off usb debugging. it interferes with the connection
settings - applications-development.

If I turn off USB debugging and enter kies mode while the phone is on (normally) it will say Connected...on the phone, but my laptop does not detect anything, kies is still waiting for a connection.
Ideally I want USB Debugging on, as I want to connect to odin, not kies. But as neither is working... I figured I would just see what I could get to connect.

SGS2 Connect
Power off phone
Install Kies
Power on phone start Kies connect Samsung USB cable .
Let Kies find phone .
NO
Then try Kies not running put phone in USB Mass storage mode connect cable wait for windows to find USB mass storage device and install drivers .
jje

Turns out there was an issue with my android SDK installation. Reinstalled it and re downloaded drivers. Everything works! Thread closed!
Thanks for the suggestions

[Q] Connection problems

So when i try to connect my galaxy to the computer nothing happens. i plug it in and it will start to charge but the phone will not have recognized the fact that it is connected to the computer and the computer doesnt even say "unrecognized device" how do i get the phone and omputer to recognize each other?
Did you install drivers for the phone? What operating system are you on?
yes i have. ive tried both osx and windows 7 and i have made sure to download teh drivers for each
Have you tried to connect it in usb debugging mode? (goto settings, applications, devlopment, check debugging mode?
(I dont know of it will help, but it would be the next thing I would try)
And try different usb ports. I have heard before that it can help.
yeah ive tried all of that it and still nothing, the switching usb ports too
Did you restart the computer after you installed drivers?
I would try installing Samsung Kies (from samsung website, GS2 support page). It also installs drivers and fixed a problem I had with connection.
If all these don't work, I don't know what to tell you. Sorry. I am sure someone here with more experience will be able to help.
yeah haha ive done all of these unfortunately and still nothing, thank you for you suggestions though
Kies had an update within the hour of New years (Pacific).
I discovered this morning that USB debugging mode MUST BE OFF for Kies to recognize and connect to the phone. I'm currently backing up my device in this mode right now.
"Kies Air" also works well, without having to worry about any USB issues.
"Droid Explorer" connects fine with debugging turned on. I have to wait until backup is complete to see if it works with debugging turned off.
I'm having USB port issues right now, so your mileage may vary.
Hope this helps.

[Q] USB issues Odin

So the ota screwed up my phone. I was able to connect and intstall the stock eoh3 for xda the phone now starts up but I am unable to connect USB to root or flash any new rooms with Odin I can only connect Odin if the phone is booted up and debug and mock locations are on. If I pull the battery and put it in download mode it will not connect to the pc it just shows as an unknown device. I have reloaded drivers ect but not getting anywhere. Any ideas?
Try another cable if you have one, and try putting the drivers on another PC. For reasons I still haven't figured out, my home desktop PC quit connecting a couple of ROM's ago, and it won't even let me reinstall the drivers. I have a laptop that works fine (so I haven't gone into major troubleshooting) and my work PC also connects fine.
If the same issue repeats on other PC's and cables, there may be something wrong with your mini USB port. I had to have mine replaced a few months back.

Unable to Connect to Samsung Kies App

Hi All,
I have recently got a new Galaxy S2 on VF UK and when I try and connect it to the Kies application, I keep getting the error message;
Reconnect the devise in Samsung Kies (PC Studio) Mode.
Current connection mode is not supported by Kies.
I have tried using the debug mode and does not resolve the issue.
Anyone else having the issue?
Cheers,
Dave.
I butted heads with Kies over time too
Did you perhaps turn on the USB mode so that the phone acts like its some USB drive? As for Kies you just plug it in without setting any mode.
If not...
I would suggest, to uninstall, and then reinstall Kies. Best download the latest version if you are not sure you have that one.
After the install don't start Kies.
First connect the phone to the computer, you don't have to put it into any mode, just plug it in. Down in the bottom right corner there should pop up some message about drivers being installed/configured.
When you get the message that it was all okay you unplug the phone.
Then start up Kies.
Then again plug in the phone.
If all goes well it should then it should recognize the phone.
I usually ran into trouble when the usb driver for the phone was not installed correctly, and having Kies on and having having the driver being configured would often result for me in drivers that had errors.

Hi Mario387,
Thank you for your advise but I have tried what you have suggested and still having the same issue.
I don't think that I have set my devise to be a USB devise - how do I tell if I have it in the right mode?
Under the phoneutil the usb mode is PDA (*#7284#)
Any advise would be deeply appreciated
Cheers,
Dave.
try to turn off phone
take the battery off then put it back

then turn it on.. hope it helps

[Please help] My P7500 cannot connect to my PC

I got a old Samsung Tab 10.1 3G (GT-P7500) and I found it slow thus I want to flash to CM10. My original Android version is 4.0.4.
I plugged the tablet to PC and it detected it as GT-P7500 at first (o.... very great). However, it just recognized it as media and cannot go into storage. I have selected MTP and it was still not working. Then, it turned to unknown device.
Then I installed Kies as well as the Samsung driver to my PC. But I still cannot detect the tablet anymore. It just showing unknown device in the hardware manager. I went into odin downloading mode, and it did not show up connection to my PC in Odin, i.e. that is no COM was on in Odin in PC.
I had try:
reboot and reset the tablet
Double Wipe (wipe cache and reset to factory in recovery)
select MTP in setting
check the USB debugging
uncheck the USB debugging
plug in USB 2.0 port
plug in USB 3.0 port
It still not working.
At last, I found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459126
Maybe there is some problem on official 4.0.4 so it cannot recognize my tablet. But It is hard to find a desk sock nowadays AND I don’t want to pay anymore.
So I wonder any other way that may fix my tablet. Thank you

Galaxy S3 SHV-E210K can't use USB connection

- Install, reinstall kies with drivers
- USB debug mode on, off
- Try to use *#7284# and *#0808# but nothing happend. ( for more information I can't use *2767*3855# too)
- Try to root with kingroot, ROMmanager, ... but can't. It seem like my phone block all these apps
- Try to find OEM unlocking but there's no option in developer options
Please help, i read all articles but nothing solve my problems I'm so hopeless
Have you connected the phone to the motherboard usb port and then installed kies then stopped the kies processes?. You can also uninstall the kies program while keeping the drivers.

No i havent. After i had installed kies with driver, i pluged in usb port. Nothing happened
Have the phone already connected so it can find it correctly..
If it still isn't detected by the computer, the USB port could be damaged.

Try connecting the phone while it's in download mode.
