Does anyone know how to normally access the full "Account & Sync" settings page? Basically, if you go to Settings -> Data Manager and and untick Background Data, then try and access Market you get a message saying "Background Data Disabled - Market needs background data to be enabled"..
..if you click the enable button, you get taken to a rather different "Accounts & Sync Settings" page from the one you can access by going to Settings -> Accounts..
This "Full" page gives you options to enable/disable background data as well as set whether apps sync data automatically. There is then a "Manage Accounts" section further down the page which is identical to the one in Settings -> Accounts, except here you can actually enable disable Motorola Sync (which isn't available as an option on the other page).. additionally, if you have something like Facebook installed, you can click on that to get to its sync settings (just a username and password page, the same as when accessed via Settings -> Accounts) - except here, the settings hardware key gives you a "Sync Now" option which isn't available normally)
Am running a regular xt910 (not rooted, just as it comes)
Any help appreciated
Hi
Sorry but I have no answer for you, I just wanted to say your post helped me turn on auto-sync for my calendar.
Thanks

Is there anyway to use any calendar related features on the Atrix without it syncing to Google? I've searched the internet for answers, searched the device for settings...and I always get the same result. Under Settings > Accounts > Other Accounts heading > "My Google Gmail account" the tick box next to Sync Calendar is UN-ticked. Yet, no matter what calendar app I use, eventually everything shows up online in Google calendars. So I go back and check the tick box and its still cleared. I put a test event online in Google calendars, and in less than a minute it's on my phone. Is there a setting I'm overlooking here?
thanks
Have you tried Calendar(app)>menu>more>calendars ?

Click to collapse
Yes, but If I 'un-sync' it there, the whole calendar disappears from phone. I want to use the calendar on my phone, but not have it sync to Google. There's only 3 options there, but not a 'Visible, not synced' option. Only 'not synced, not visible'. The only way i can stop it from going to Google is turn on Airplane mode, but that's pretty pointless, and it just syncs as soon as I turn it off. It doesn't appear that sync settings under accounts do anything on my phone. This is my first Android device, so maybe that's just how it is?
I've searched everywhere and could not find an answer to a very simple question:
How to control frequency of synchronization for Mail/Calendar/Contacts for a Google account ??
For me, they never synchronize by themselves. They sync only by manual request.
Any help is greatly appreciated !
Google accounts are push.... normally instantly, are you not getting your info right away?
Settings/battery and data manager/battery mode
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Settings/Accounts/
Thank you all for the suggestions but nothing works so far.
When I receive a new email in my Gmail account, it does not sync to the phone automatically. When I go to Settings > Accounts > Google, I see "Sync Contacts/Gmail/Calendar" but the last sync time remains the time I sync'd them manually (currently - yesterday).
Settings > Battery > Battery Mode is Performance.
I'm really desperate, as I cannot use my phone for one of main things I wanted it for.
Please help!
PROBLEM SOLVED !
This forum does not allow me to post URLs yet, so I'm copying the solution here:
Sync was apparently turned off via the Power Control widget! This is a really obtuse and unacceptable situation. The only way to turn this back on is to add the widget back to a screen and click on the round double arrow button so that its enabled. This is not at all obvious and I accidentally turned sync off and then removed the widget because I didn't know what the different buttons did (they aren't labeled). That is a bad widget design (obscure) and the fact that sync can not be re-enabled (or even detected that its been disabled) from the system configuration menus is not reasonable. If sync can be turned on & off it should show up under say the Data Manager as a check mark option, it should most definately not only show up as an unlabeled button on an optional widget.
Is there a way to restore the contacts you have in HeyTell after flashing a rom ?
I flash a lot of roms but i have to add my friends everytime i do and its annoying for them, which is understandable.. So can i add them without having to send them a text message ?
Would it be possible if i used Titanium Backup ? Never tried that program ..
No one knows if this is possible ?
Restoring HeyTell contacts using Google Sync
Does your ROM have a Privacy option? Typically found via Menu > Settings > Privacy? (If not, try a Search from Settings, or open Voice Dialer and say "Privacy Settings"--these options are typically included in Android 2.2 or higher, but may be hidden depending on the distribution.)
If so, enable all backup options there and make sure that everyone in HeyTell is added as a friend (green circle with check mark - tap the check mark button and tap Friend to add them). This will store your underlying account information with your Gmail account. After you flash the phone and sign into Gmail, then install HeyTell, your friends should show up--they'll be accessible in the Friends list you see when you tap inside the To: field.
One caveat is that Google sync doesn't appear to work if you've set your primary account up with a @googlemail.com domain - but this should work if you're using the standard gmail.com domain as primary.
Hello,
I own Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) 4.1.2 with a root enabled. I've noticed that my Google account sync settings may suddenly reset. For example, I go Settings - Accounts - Google - <my account> and tick "Sync Calendar", "Sync Contacts", "Sync Gmail". Then I press "Sync now". Everything is ok so far. Now I can do my business, switching between applications, browsing, reading. If I then decide to check the Sync settings, everything will be ok, everything that I checked before stay checked. Even shutting down the phone and turning it on will keep these settings intact. At least, for the first check. The second or the third check already shows me that only "Sync Contacts" is enabled, but Calendar and Gmail are off.
What the heck?! Does anybody know what's wrong with my Android?
It's not the problem anymore I've realized what is responsible for that. It's Juice Defender app. Good app, I just didn't get the full understanding of one of its feature called AutoSync. Sorry for that.
Is it possible to get the old functionality of the Gmail app back? I can't stand this new way of doing things.
I don't *want* "Primary", "Social", "Promotions", "Updates", etc. I want all of my messages together. All the time. As a default.
Provide the specific version.
Settings
You can turn them off in the settings of the gmail app. Go to settings, go to the account you're concerned about, and uncheck all categories.
Version is 4.5-694836.
I unchecked the options that tmoore73 suggested. Seems to work so far. Thanks.
Edit: the settings came back. Weird. So problem still exists.
On the "desktop version" of Gmail, I have those options unchecked in "Configure Inbox"...
