Hi everyone, just a question regarding flashing a foreign rom.
I am using a branded rom right now, rooted.
Just wondering if I flash a foreign rom to my phone,
1) Can I updated to android 4.0 via kies in the future?
2) Will it unroot my phone?
3) Does it affect anything? or What possible effects it would cause?
Much appreciated.
Also, I have deleted "syncmlds.apk" from my current rom, and some people said by doing so will cause battery drain and should not delete it.
I am worried about it, is it possible to restore "syncmlds.apk"?

Nothing except wrong language no network connection
You live France Speak \French and have a French Network then Flashing a Chinese rom is going to confuse you very much unless you read |Chinese .

Hi,
I have an SFR version of the SGS II, I would like to
Root my device
Unlock it
Upgrade to a faster better ROM with Hebrew support.
I am new to SGS and I want to understand a few issues. I understand that Samsung releases ROM's for different areas in the world and that they are described in a coded manner in the ROM version. what i don't understand is
(Q.1) Will any version of the ROM work on any version of SGS II ? (might be a stupid question, but i want to make sure)
I understand that burning a different ROM version on my device might void the warranty, so I need to keep a backup of the original version.
(Q.2) where do I find the CSC of the my SFR ROM ?
(Q.3) I want to keep the ability to connect to all SFR Wifi hotspots for FREE it is done from an app installed on the device probably by the CSC, Do i need to backup the SFR apps i want from the original ROM and reinstall them on the new ROM, or could I simply find the SFR CSC, and install it once i'm done upgrading, rooting and unlocking my device ?
Can someone recommend me a good ROM version along with modem version ?
that supports Hebrew characters (right to left languages) ?
This are the details of my device,
PDA::KE4
PHONE: KE1
CSC: KE4 (SFR)
Any help would be much, much appreciated like i said i am new to this device.
Thanks, in advance.

Hi mate, since I have a SFR SGS2 too, I think I can help you
Q1 : Yes, you might want to go to Intratech's topic in the Dev section to search the ROM you want. You can also try various custom ROMs from the same section
Q2 : here
Q3 : You can simply redownload SFR apps from the market

Hi again and thank you for your answers, I have some complementary questions
1. in the ROM official forum intratech is posting KE4 rom and stock rom whats is the difference between them ?
2. Does the ROM include the Firmware + modem + CSC.
3. how do i extract the CSC and burn it, after i burn a new firmware +modem ?
4. from the list of ROMs I can burn you suggested (in the DEV forum) which one is more suitable for SFR and how do i determine that the modem version is suitable ?
5. i read somewhere in the forum that changing the firmware and rooting looses the APN - the settings for Internet and specific operator configuration. so my question would be in case i can not burn or apply the CSC of SFR after i change my firmware how do i back up this information in order to make sure that the phone doesn't loose functionality's later ?
6. I don't understand what *#1234# does ?
Thanks and sorry for all the questions, like i said i am new to this
Hey guys I recently bought an SGS II SFR (Forfait blocké), can I root it and install custom ROM on it, or I should Unlock it first?
And what ROM do you use?
Thanks in advance.
Hi guys I just wanted to know if what I'm about to do is the correct method to upgrade my firmware from gingerbread to ics.
I bought my phone ( i9100 ) from Hong Kong and I live in a different country. So when there was an update for its firmware, i was unable to receive it even after checking for updates through system. So what I'm about to do is use Odin and download a firmware from samfirmware under HK's firmware and put it in the PDA part of Odin and run it.
Is this method correct? Or am I suppose to do something else? My phone is not rooted and I dont intend for it to be just yet and I'm also wondering if I use HK's firmware, will it affect my network coverage? Because being in a different country and having a different assigned network and all might cause a few problems with its radio or something?
Please advice thanks
Hi yes that's how I upgraded my firmware that method will work. Be sure to factory reset first though. As for your carrier concerns I can't answer sorry. The beauty with this though is that you can re-flash a different firmware if it doesn't work. All the best

1. Your method is correct. You shouldn't have signal issues.
Before flashing you must go through the flashing guides.
2. If you are living in another country and don't have plans of going to Hong Kong or your phone is out of warranty (this doesn't matter), you can flash any firmware for your present location. It will work very fine.

Hey,
I live in the UK and bought by S3 new on ebay, which is unbranded and an international version (i believe). The box said Orange France, however i havnt had any problems using it with my UK SIM. The jelly bean update has just been released through kies for the UK version of the S3, and i was just wondering what effect flashing this ROM using ODIN would have on my phone?
i downloaded the ROM from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1902493
Thanks
CSC is nothing bar a few text files that enable auto network APN .
It will make no difference but will be more up todate with its network connections list .

Ah right, thanks. so its should actually be better then seeing as i'm flashing the UK firmware to it.
Play store services are not all available worldwide - and some are country-region specific- but as long as you have a western european CSC you're fine....
Sorry for digging up an old thread but it covers exactly what i'm after
There's no official release for 4.1x for Australia yet, P5110 16gb WiFi only
what other stock ROM's will be suitable to ensure my play store, etc will all operate without an issue.
Thanks in advance

Specifically, yes. it's the wrong device.
But the same issue nevertheless.
Hence why i did include my device details.

Lol, well ok, I would advise sticking with your CSC but you can always try other Roms and flash back to yours. As you are Wi-Fi only you won't have any of the recent modem issues that have been present across several Samsung devices

No CSC does not matter its not required to make a phone work .
But that's relevant to the I9300 range your phone may or may not be the same .

I'm sorry to break into this post, but i have the same question.
I live in Italy, but i bought an international Galaxy S3 with Romania CSC and i wish to stick with the ITV csc code.
I tried to flash, but it breaks OTA/kies Updates (that's not bad at all... my firmware is still XXEMC2, March 2013 with i9300QXFMEA2 csc (info taken with *#1234#).
I've also read that double flashing changes the CSC code...i tries this procedure with no results (csc still COA)
Can you please give me some tips?
Tips read the stickied basic faqs and guides .
Make your mind up to upgrade via OTA/ Kies or XDA not both .

Hi everyone, I got a international s3 or European I just know it's not from my carrier directly. My question is will I be getting software updates according to my carrier/country or will I be receiving the updates the time it comes out in Europe? I'm asking because I updated to 4.2.1 about 2 months earlier than my friend did and he bought it straight from Vodafone NZ
Official 4.2.1?
I think it depends on your Carrier
You will be getting updates when they come out in Europe. Updates are actually pushed through according to your phone CSC as you have an international unbranded phone unlike your friend's Vodafone branded unit.

oh darn it lol i reflashed stock with the Vodafone NZ 4.2.1 rom not the International UK rom.. can someone point out the steps to reflash stock rom if my s3 is already on stock rom? cheers
Oh by the way, is there any difference to the software updates between countries apart from them being released at different times? I was on International UK rom but I flashed NZ stock rom and now its seems im having quite a bit of battery problems, just wondering so I know whther to reflash international stock or leave it with NZ
so is it 4.2.1 or 4.1.2?

I found heaps of guides but they only guide on how to go back stock from a custom rom. Im already on stock rom though and i want to revert back to international stock rom but NZ stock.
Soz im a noob, still new to this
it is no different
So which is true? Does software updates follow the carrier the phone is using (eg. Vodafone) or the region (eg UK/EU)??

Hello,
I live in Pakistan and I just got my Galaxy S3 Gt-i9300 and it had Saudi Arabian warranty in it so I guess it's from Saudi Arabia. I rooted and flashed custom ROM in it now I wanna revert back to stock firmware but when I select Gt-i9300 on sammobile for downloading stock ROM then I there's a box called "Country", I'm confused about this part, Idk what to select..
Here are the questions that I wanna know answers of:
Does international Gt-i9300 got different rom for different countries?
Is there possibility for bricking my device if I select different country but Gt-i9300 rom?
And last question, what country do I choose now?
Thanks!

yes. different firmwares for different countries. CSC changes from region to region. there is no risk of bricking if you flash a different firmware. check the details under about phone and google for the similar ones. good luck

you can basically choose any firmware from any country. It is recommended though, if you run into problems, to flash your stock firmware (your country & carrier) (e.g. you can run a UK version in the US as long as it is for the I9300). In addition a second part is about modems, which again, you can use any modem of any country, whereas usually modems from your region will work best.
To see different firmwares etc. have a look at sammobile, there you can filter for your country, carrier, model etc.
