Twice in 3 days ive got this, i done a nandroid then changed my password and no problems but ive just got it again, when i go into the market it only shows the settings and in the password only allows you to enter up to 4 numbers and no letters and my gmail password is a combination of letters and numbers,i had to change my password again as gmail informed me that suspicious activity on my account was reported from Mexico so i changed it but am not getting the same problem as before, what is going on here,can anyone shed some light on this?
I sorted it, cleared cache and dalvik and rebooted, phew
EDIT - If you do need to change your gmail password this could prove troublesome when it comes to using the market, ill not be changing it again now for a log time

I can't send any email. I had 1 message send on thursday somehow but nothing else gets out. My settings are configured properly but for some reason every time i try to send a message via email I always get the error saying i have no connection or my settings are wrong. anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
edit: Solved. Turns out I had my gmail account settings added through an OEM I made and there was something wonky in it. I deleted the account from the phone and re-added the account manually (without allowing it to auto-detect settings) and it works fine now. I find it strange that the problem also affected other email accounts that were using smtp.gmail.com to send out but doesn't now... odd.
so im currently running dcd 3.2.5. ive noticed before that even immediately after setting the Data Connection password to 'vzw' that it changes to a 16 character password. this isnt a problem because the data connection still works. however, lately ive been noticing that my email account password automatically changes to a 20 character password, which causes the scheduled send/receive to not connect with an 'error syncing' message. the strange thing is that the login dialog does not appear for the account. anyone know a fix for this so the passwords stop changing?
I think you have a different problem. The stars just mean that something is stored and the length has no relation to the actual stored password. All of my passwords are 20 stars and they work just fine.

Just received my first HTC handset (Hero on T-Mobile) on Friday and really liking it.
However, while I have set up my Hotmail ok, I cant set up my Sky email on it
I have enabled POP on my account and I enter my email, username and password and configure the POP settings with Sky's pop address (pop.tools.sky.com), SSL and set port 995. When I click next and it tries to verify the info it comes back with "authentication failed, please verify Username/password".
I know the password is correct! I have tried the username with and without the @sky.com bit but still get the same error.
Having done a quick search, I have found similar problems and have tried a factory restore and an email app (k-9) but still no joy.
If is probably something obvious but I have no clue what to do! Any Help??
I have had my hd2 for about 4 months now, and during this time it has worked fine with gmail, but in the past few days it keeps asking me to input the incoming mail server password every time i go to check my emails.
I have tried deleting the account and inputting the settings again, sometimes it works initially, but then asks for the password straight after. I have noticed that when i go to email / options, edit account setup and go through the stages, my password has always changed in there by itself, and even when i change it back to what it should be it changes again automatically.
I am not an expert with these things (obviously), but i have checked all the settings and can't find anything left to try.
Any help would be much appreciated

I realised what setting i had wrong, it was the outgoing server authentication box that was ticked, since i have unchecked it everything is working fine again.
Only bothered posting this reply to my own post i the hope that this helps someone else.
I got a Motorola Razr Maxx from my work. I wanted to save $50.00 so on Monday I had my phone number ported over. I needed a new sim card so our rep took it to the store and got it changed over. But my Backup Assistant didn't work because it kept saying MDN has changed please enter pin number. I looked at the verizon website and also had our rep call. The only answer was to restore to factory default.
did I do that. NO!!!!!

Settings
Apps
All
Sync Services and clear data and cache
After doing this you should be prompted to re enter info when BA app is opened again.
It worked for me. I was abel to reset my pin number. I wanted to share
