[Fastboot Files 411] No promises - Motorola Droid RAZR

*** Edit 4 - it's the weekend so nothing happens on the weekend, wish I had more info for you guys. I updated because I see you guys keep bumping it and figured (I like to see anyway) if there is a status update regardless of if there is new info or not. It's nice to see someone is still "doing something". So the update for today is: I'm doing "something" but alas it is "waiting"
*** Edit 3 - Talked to a guy on their dev team today. He's getting permission to release the FXZ files for me. He's onboard, the rest is up to the flagpole (which is unlikely in my opinion, but I still have not been told no so hey)
*** Edit 2 - Still no word, will follow up with both contacts tomorrow. The word of the day is "Pest".
****EDIT update: I just got off the phone with another contact. Someone from the Motorola Dev team is going to get back with me. I was told that they are planning to release the FXZ files, and possibly there might be a situation where I could be allowed to release them. If this is so then I would do it through our publication's website (obviously traffic to our site is a nice thing, and I hope you guys respect that and link to us instead of reposting them). If not, I might be able to get them early. I would not be able to release them but I could possibly (depending on the agreement I would have to sign to get them early) be able to answer questions about them. We will see. I've really tried to go to the mat on this one so hopefully we'll get some progress. The good news is they are definitely going to release them regardless, and she told me typically it's about a month after release, (as we saw with the Bionic [i guess]).
I just used my press wand to make a request for the fastboot files for the Razr. No promises, but I wasn't told no. I'm waiting on a call back. The request will likely either be ignored or not granted, but I'm trying to help as well.
The reason I posted this is a) to let you guys know that I did this, and b) I honestly don't know which files I need if I'm asked for specific detail by the person that is supposed to call me back. So if someone who knows could tell me _exactly_ what I need to ask for (ASAP) that would be great. I'm expecting a call shortly.

From DroidTh3ory: 'It is the FXZ files. They are stored and accessed VIA RSS.'

I am crossing my fingers nd praying for u to have luck. Just to add maybe easier to say factory restore file for droid razr. The files format is FXZ found via RSS

Thank you both for your fast response. Still no word. I'll be following up with them shortly regardless; being a pest is rewarded occassionally.

Good luck to you, you may hold the hope of getting some ROMs for this thing.
No pressure.

Dont put to much pressure on him Steve...jk. Thanks for your update. The vzw droid razr community would be so happy. Hoping for the best. I am really thankful for u spending your time to help this community. I hope the best for your website. Please keep use posted, if u can. Thank u

What about a full sbf files?

that's what the FXZ would be.

SBF is no longer used. They switched with either the DX2 or Bionic (don't remember which it was)

Yeah... I had the bionic... With the fzx files.... But we couldn't down grade the kernels/radios... One or the other.. I think... Lol.. Regardless razr is way better.. But I will sat this.. I did get better points on my bionic on cfbench t hen my razr... But then again.. My razr doesn't reboot, radio is better, doesn't get the black screen of death either which requires a battery pull... And my buttons on the bottom are all the same color and not faded or lighter then one or the other.. My bionic was garbage lol... And t his screen just can't be beat.. Love it..

although it is questionable that fastboot says "SBF" and not FXZ.

Bump^ man I hope this happens.. I'm really expecting it to not happen... BUT I AM REALLY REALLY HOPING IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN... Sure would be nice to have something for Christmas time

Full Froyo OTA File (Not a ROM)

Well.... It has happened again... I get an OTA and the ish talking starts bout me holding back the "community"... So again I'm going to release the file I have... This time will be a little different though. I stated VERY clearly in the radio thread what I was doing and the fact that this OTA WILL NOT FLASH nor will anyone know wtf to do with it.... No one listened and instead ran their necks so F it.... Once you realize that there are several hundred .p patch files that will need to be applied to individual files, in succession, through 5 builds, then figuring out what kind of patches they are to begin with, then figuring out you need a specific binary to apply them, one you cant get, your on the right track.... Good luck with that... I'm sorry about this but honestly I'm tired of working on a device I don't even use, for days and days, with pneumonia mind you, for people to talk ish and complain about what I am doing. So I'm gonna leave it in the hands of the "well wishers" and let them take care of this for you guys... To those that havent *****ed, I apologize, but I'm pretty fed up with the amount of ignorance around here... So anyways, heres your OTA... Have fun with it and I will stop back by with an "I told you so" every now and then.... CR
Froyo Espresso OTA
lol im glad i have an epic. i just wanted to see what you were talking about in your twitter feed
People are still saying you're holding back from the community? Yeah, they're definitely ignorant. :/ I wasn't exactly around when this stuff was going on before, but I was lurking and even then it was pretty dumb.
Sorry that it has to happen this way, CR! Thank you for the work you've contributed thus far and all the great gifts you come bearing when you stop by.(Like this latest radio).
Well thanks to everyone who whines and *****es... a true dev comes along to help and you find a way to make him leave haha.. thanks CR for the work and trying mate. Good thing I'm getting new G2 on Tuesday

Well, I managed to update to this using some secret sauce, but I have now permanently lost root and S-OFF. Exploid and Rage Against the Cage-based exploits DO NOT WORK on this version of the kernel (2.6.32.29) included in this OTA.
On the plus side it does have USB/Wifi tethering built-in, so my need for root has dramatically decreased.
Just stick with whatever you have now until a new exploit comes out for >= 2.6.32.29, but don't hold your breath since it's unlikely ANY time soon.
:/ it is sad....at least you gave us the radio! And actually tried to patch the files! Thanks for all the work....hope you come back!

There is a quick and simple solution to this problem and I think that most will agre that it is for the better of the community.\
First call these people out by name, post their PM's if any publicly
Then have their accounts suspended for no less than 30 days.
How dare someone make a statement like that, We got what 1 maybe 2 developers left with this device? Are you flipping kidding me? You asses are sitting there complaining about how the development on this device is dead, yet when someone has something, and is working n something you jump the freaking gun with stupid ill thought out comments.
So now it up to you lil ^itches that think you know everything to develop for this device. You wanted what he had released so freaking bad. So lets see what ya got... Hell there is no reason why you should not be able to crank out a working ROM with what he released by the of the day today.... I mean hell if you can't then YOU held back development of this phone.
XDA needs to do something about this.
The whole 10 post rule is BS. It does nothing
I think it needs to become a pay to play forum
I know thats not how it SHOULD be, and that it
COULD hinder development. but I DOUBT it.
Personally.....
CR your work is awesome, I appreciate it very much. Thank you for what you have done,
to the ^itches.... Thanks now I gotta go buy a new damn phone, that developers want to work on. Hopefully you are broke ass kids and cant afford a new one and will stay here and die with this forum, and phone. After all you started this...
Wow CR this sux that people's ignorance has to stop us from getting froyo finally with flash possibilities. This sux...
Thanks Chief for all the hard work. I thought your last update was the best rom and didn't have any problems. I guess its time to upgrade.

I am pretty sure I know who it was... If you read through the RADIO thread there are 2 or 3 that were practically begging for the files he had.
I wont call them out myself being that I DONT FOR SURE KNOW. but if you read through there you could possibly figure it out. I am not encouraging anything, but I am sure a few people around here know of a few ways that will have their ISP shut them down for a day or so....

Chief wasn't the only one being bugged about the files. I've got a crap load of PMs and tweets asking me for the ota. I'm doing my best to provide CR with the files he needs to get this working for you guys. Hell, I don't even have a slide. Did I have to contact Chief letting him in on the file? Nope. If you guys would have waited a day or 2, you probably would have had a working OTA. But no, you had to keep *****ing to me and CR.
Chief, if you still want the files, hit me up on G and ill grab them.

Most of the people who wanted to see this zip released are not at all interested in actually running this rom. In fact, the more interesting bits are the sdio and tiwlan files that we might be able to fix the still-borked wifi in CM7.
Chiefz: nobody intended to give you ****, but there is absolute truth in the saying that many hands make light work. The more people looking at this, the more likely it is that it can be put to good use. The folks in #mytouchslide will be putting lots of eyes on this to see what outstanding issues we might be able to fix.
Thank you for releasing this and I'm sorry if you felt people were hassling you.

Root lovers!

not trying to scare anyone, just a PSA
we know the droid 3 exploit works (its how about 97% of you rooted). however the electrify has a 2.3.5 update that blocks it.. which means that photon owners will prolly be rootless come next update. :O
the man who has brought out a good number of root exploits, Dan Rosenberg has a new trick up his sleeve. seems hes already got the next wave of motos rooted including the droid 4 that released today. thing is there is gunna be a lot of people using it (i know its what ill be changing the one click to so that we can root the electrify. and think about how many other moto devices that will be freed. with that in mind djrbliss is looking to get himself a droid 4 (ew who uses verizon? ).
anyways long story short, i included a we pay link he gets 200 he'll make it public and then any extra goes to the american red cross. so if you have root now, or in the future its prolly cuz of this guy. if your an electrify owner and want a nice easy one click? then shoot this guy a few bucks

Incorrect. When it reaches $500 he'll release it.
I'll be glad to kick in $20 whenever the time comes that I need to root for ICS or have to re-root because I couldn't ignore 2.3.5 (I'll ignore 2.3.5 if I can).

i could see where that is fitting i suppose. i knew most of the people who would be interested would be people who are locked out of root (droid 4) and possibly electrify owners that want a one click. just figured id let people know since he has done a whole lot for the rooting community.. :/

How is $575 (and he has stopped accepting) a failure?
With all respect to the dev, I think the mistake he made was the "I'll release it when y'all pay $500". THAT (his message) was the failure in the "experiment". The $200 for a phone was not the issue.
'nuff said - I am NOT trying to inflame anything here. I believe the dev has done awesome free work for us, but could have avoided all of this with slightly different words.
People are still people and the psychology of messages still counts!
Please take all the above ramblings in a respectful, positive and helpful tone!
No offense but if he did it, he has the right to wait for 500. 99% of us work for free. Ad clicks and donations are nice but not expected. That doesn't mean we don't have to work for free it just means we do.
So if you want to donate, its your money.

I totally agree - he had every right to set a number and not release until that number was reached. He has no obligation to unlock phones for free.
But we'll never know in this case since he changed the rules mid-experiment, which means the experiment neither failed nor succeeded. When I saw the way he originally announced it, I thought "this won't end well" (see below for more).
The point I was trying to make was that, from a human psych POV, that a bounty (really a ransom here) is not an effective motivator for a bunch of opinionated, strong-willed contributors like us.
Case in point - a few years ago at ppcGeeks, $300 bounty, "release when paid" for a Win Mo phone (TP2 I think), people got ruffled, rules got changed, dev collected $1,000 in 2 days.
It's all about psychology and messaging, for although we are are bit different from a lot of people, we are still normal people. A carrot remains a better motivator than a stick.
In my opinion, the dev should have said "hard work", "please contribute", "first 200 to me for a phone which is a tool that will benefit you", "next 100 / 200 for my family", "rest to charity" (if that's really what he wants to; keep it all if he wants). Just my opinion of course - and I respect that the dev may or may not care in the slightest about all my words (assume he doesn't).
Sorry for the number of words - although an engineer, I took a lot of psych in college.
Dude shoulda bought a phone. Sheesh. Its donations, he can do what he wants with it.

Yes - he should have bought a phone, and then dinner for his wife/gf ....... I told him that via a different route; also told him no matter what he did, he'd get some snarky comments that he should just ignore.

Just got a call from Motorola

I guess my final email to them must have struck a nerve or something. I just received a phone call from Motorola on my cell phone.
The individual was very courteous and nice, so that was a plus. Now for the information so take this anyway you want. I myself am a little skeptical, but at least I got more information from them than what we've gotten at all.
For ICS, they are currently testing the X2 for issues and bugs. The evaluation is not just talking it over on whether it's worthy of ICS or not, but they have developers working on compiling, debugging and testing to ensure they get the ICS upgrade to work along with their applications. Unless they run into major issues, there should be an ICS upgrade some day. Just not sure when.
Also, he ensured me they are not dropping support for the X2.
As for the unlocked bootloaders, they are currently in talks/negotiations with the carriers and this is what is taking so long. They are also investigating how to implement it so as to help protect the users from security issues, including data security (PI, etc).
The Motorola representative apologized for not getting back to me with this information sooner, but he wanted me to be assured that Motorola DOES take its customer's complaints/issues seriously. I did explain to him how ASUS and HTC have already unlocked their bootloaders, and he said he understands, but Motorola takes security very seriously, especially when it comes to its customers.
In many ways, I can understand where he's coming from. Now, whether this is a canned response or not, who's to say. As he was speaking to me, it did not sound like he was reading from a script.
I at least appreciate the phone call. That was much better than an email back so that I could actually converse with the person who was very polite and helpful.
Now, I guess the only thing we can do is wait and see what happens. He stated also that the ICS update page WILL be updated once they have made a decision on whether ICS will come to the X2 or not. Until then, it will stay the way it is, which could be months as they are still compiling, testing and debugging.
I did ask him if they were actually trying to compile it on the X2 and he said "yes", so unless he's feeding me a line of BS, then this is a good sign.
So, at this point, I'm going to sit back and see what happens. If by the middle of the year at the latest, nothing comes of this, then it might be time to start hounding them again, with tact of course.

i wonder if it's still too early to check the servers and see what can be dug up...
i've checked them every once in a while since the announcement of the X2 being in the "evaluation and planning" stage of the ICS update but haven't found anything. (i checked with 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 updates)
Thanks for the update that is very good to know! Maybe the first step to save customers.

Let's hope so, Motorola needs to step up before all of their customers leave them in the dust. If that happens Google'll be moving on to buy a new company cause Motorola couldn't hold out.
Great news. Though it is certainly no promise or guarantee, it's a first, and I do mean first, step in the right direction. Could you forward me the email if I messaged you my gmail? and I don't mean because of my normal skeptic self. I would like to show it to a couple friends I have who also own the.x2.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), it wasn't an email. It was a phone call, so I really don't have a transcript of what was told to me. Of course, you can be rest assured, I'm no Melvin, so you have no worries about being Melvined!

In any case, if/when I hear anything, I'll be sure to update everyone. For now, I guess we just hold tight and see what happens.
Devil's Advocate...
Very nice work bro! Being polite and yet slightly forceful will get you a very long way with large corporations. I did tech support for MSN, Kodak, and SONY and I can tell you that you WILL NOT get the best support if you are rude, forceful, abusive, and/or threatening. I understand that we can get frustrated with what we feel are broken promises. We are their customers and we do pay their salaries. But, at the same time, we must also understand that even though we feel we are many, and can really hurt them, we aren't and we cant. Their salaries will still be paid and their profit margins will be met. We can only politely demand that they answer our questions. Yes corporations break promises. Yes they screw the little guy over. Yes they make millions off us. But there are people behind those corporations. People the same as us. Bound by those same profit margins and salaries. WE MUST CONTINUE TO REACH OUT TO THEM AS PEOPLE! Not faceless money hungry machines. Enough with the hate. As hard as it is to stifle. I have been on the other side of the fence. I have been the tech and customer service rep getting cussed at for no reason and due to those experiences, I am now a MUCH more demanding consumer. The lesson I learned is this; kick, scream, cuss, *****, moan, and whine all you want, but it will get you no where in this life as a consumer. Ask for help, be polite, just like your mother taught you and you will get more out of people.
You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar goes the old adage... And its an OLD adage for a reason.
iBolski, I commend you in your efforts. Thank you for taking the high road and trying a different approach!
All I can say is, I was about to give up hope and just call it a lost cause. I'm still not holding my breath, but I'll wait and hold off on that HTC Rezound. As it is, my upgrade isn't active yet, so I'd have to pay full price which is around $600. No way.
I went ahead and responded back in my support ticket, thanking them for the phone call and how I appreciated it. But, I also let them know that we as a community still expect an answer one way or the other on both issues and to not string us along and keep us in the dark.
I think I'll have a beer, or two, or three tonight...

Lol my bad, not sure why I assumed it was an email. I agree, it it's a good thing they talked to you via the phone; shows that maybe they aren't afraid to face your frustration, whichis always a sign of good customer service, and if we're lucky, honesty.
No worries though, I wasn't doubting you, for I have no reason to. I've seen only good things from you
Ibolski you are the hero of the day sir. I've been following your progress with this situation and I'm glad you were so determined. I vote we ressurect a statue in your honor, or maybe just donate for all your hard work.

Thanks, but let's hold off on any kudos until we see if this even amounts to a hill of beans. I'm just trying to get an answer to what we all want: the status of ICS on the X2 and unlocked bootloaders.
At least now I can relax and just let it simmer for awhile and see what happens.

Ibolski - just wanted to add my thanks for all your efforts effectively on our behalf. Have you given any thought to perhaps setting up, say a twitter dx2/Moto specific account, that we in the community could follow which if the numbers are there could be powerful proof to motto that there really are a number of its customers that share your feelings on this matter. Sort of an extension of the unlock social media campaign. I for one would follow you if you set up such an account.
Again thanks for your efforts!!!

I am intrigued that they contacted you via phone.
I think they are taking the actions that Asus and HTC has been implementing seriously, especially because of the fact that HTC does have now unlockable phones on Verizon...
ICS Is probably more of an inevitability at this point, but the unlocked bootloader I am quite surprised at actually being discussed...

[Q] [Suggestion] Donate to Developer who'll unlock the RAZR's Bootloader

Hey there, I'm just wondering why there is no idea like this anywhere...
What would be if all owners of a MOTO RAZR will donate some money into a pot on XDA or somewhere else. The first developer who'll get this device unlocked, will get this whole pot...
I mean, for any developer who isn't interested in unlocking the RAZR will perhaps be interested...
Okay, someone is already working on a Bootloader bypass, but in my opinion it would be better to get another competitor, so perhaps the unlocking will get faster.
What do you think about?
How much would you donate for an unlocked bootloader?
I would pay 20€ for an unlocked bootloader...
This...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519448
send him a pm and ask him why he have not released it.
I dont even think we will see a unlocked bootloader for RAZR unfortunatley
Yeah I know that, so that's the reason why I started this thread.
I've got 20 on it

Yes well we have not seen anything or heard anything from him and he is not willing to share his work to other developers so I hope someone else will take the time to unlock the bootloader, unfortunatley that seems a little far-fetched atm.
Let's hope ICS will unlock our BL

In my point of view he is. Well he got atleast a free RAZR from droidrzr forum.
well I dont have mind donating if it's for real
You donate for something that exists, not for something that does not.

Exactly... I was one of those standing on his side and trusting that what he says is real but I am slowly changing my mind... If his unlock is real, I don't understand why he don't want to share his work with the other developers to speed up the development - it simply stinks..
I have no problem to pay him for the working unlock if he is keeping his secret for that reason but at this moment he has a free razr and we have absolutely nothing (except 2 posts in the thread) - no proof, no video, nothing....
Anyway - I am definitely FOR donating money for a developer who unlocks the bootloader if there is no unlock made by motorola after the official ics is released...
I for one will donate $50. Gentleman's word.

Why you guys Don't understand that the Razr's bootloader cannot be unlocked because it is secured by 2 efuses. It just can be bypassed (maybe), or a New unlocked one can be flashed by Moto.

Can you seriously stop romdroid. you're annoying - trolling every single thread that mentions his name, posting on every single page, as if your opinion will have a greater effect on people if they read it every half an hour. Wow.
MAYBE BEFORE YOU TRY AND SLANDER SOMEONE, LOOK AT THE WORK THEY'VE ALREADY DONE.
Look at how Kholk has already released so much. He leaked the GSM ICS. His team made the Arctic ROM. He made WebtopMOD. Countless kernels for countless devices.
http://pastebin.com/vuVfaQ7U should be a big one. You can see the bypassed bootloader at work.
Maybe you should take a look at mbm who had already done substantial work on the Bionic's kexec.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1466402.html
He also said back in January that progress would be a lot faster if someone else could help him out or he got another phone. Else he'd need a lot of time. Now kholk is helping him out. Do the math.
http://mmlogs.doshaska.net/#milestone-modding/2012-01-30.html
If you can't take a sip of the true tea and put a sock in it until you hear from them, then I suggest you just leave the forums in the mean time and monitor Android Police for a little bit waiting for news. We don't need negative nancies like you pissing the few Devs that actually do work for our phones off. GOOD DAY.

Take a chill pill and stop buttlicking. I wont belive it untill it's out. I have nothing personal against kholk or any other developer
well it seems that kholk is not cheating us cause in his archives in the eternity project forum there is a kexec_load.ko
http://www.eternityproject.eu/downloads/
But we don't know the instructions to appropiate load another kernel.....

You clearly do have a personal vendetta/are trolling. There's not a thread about this on XDA where you haven't "shared your opinion" at least twice. And used the word buttlicking.

I truly don't get some people on xda..... why do people demand when they don't know how much work it actually takes .... If you're so impatient and wouldn't believe until you see it romdroid and anyone else why don't you go learn some programming then try do what these devs are doing..... or you can donate to them so they can work more as this is not their life(they have jobs,family...etc) They are people afterall like you. It's a hobby for most devs...... If not wait patiently like everyone else and be grateful a site like xda exist with awesome devs and roms, etc..... If not stick to stock and crappy motorola support. You can just have an android phone like most people and not know a site like xda exist or what rooting is..... afterall you made a choice to be on xda so stick to the rules(not all are written)......
My opinion but seriously i think you're the one in need of the chill pill here.....
I can understand the rage and the excitation of waiting for so much time. I've felt the same on my old HD2 times.
Now, as a developer, I can understand why no developer wants to talk with the mass or say anything about his upcoming work.
Guys, I don't wanna talk like a badass, and I'll continue to write my posts like I've always did since I've started here as a normal user (yeah, years ago I was a total n00b): give yourself more selfcontrol. I've learnt from my errors in the past when doing almost the same: do the same!
Instead of hitting the "Thanks" button, I'd like to say that here.
Thanks [TSON] and everyone else trying to calm down the users here: like you said in other posts, the only results the people can have insulting and/or misrespecting the developers are delays or worst.
P.S.: The file linked by cgomezparra isn't for the RAZR!

Whats wrong with you? I have never pissed anyone, I just said the truth. Nobody from us can unlock the bootloader because it is a hardware problem. It just can be bypassed or Moto can unlock it. The bootloader's signature is encrypted and it would be very difficult to decrypt. But bypassing the bootloader is another thing which is possible.
I have never doubted on the Eternity Project's work, you've just asserted that. If you can't accept the opinion of other people maybe then you should leave the forums and take the “chill pill“ by yourself. Good day!

Do You Think The X2 Will Get Much More Development?

I honestly think it's the end of X2 development, and I think it has been since CM10 A3 was released. What is your opinion?
Unfortunately, I think you're right. It has gone eerily silent around here just in the last month or two. Maybe people are getting their tax refunds back and upgrading and/or buying a new phone. My advice would be for anyone still on it, as I am, to download every ROM, tweak or mod for it that you can and save it to your computer so if you ever want to switch to another ROM, you'll have it. Pretty much I am resigned to only three ROMs: eclipse 2.3.5, cm7 and cm10. All other ones are way outdated.
Also I used to be able to post or comment, and usually within a few hours, I would get several comments or answers. I posted in the cm10 a3 thread four days ago and no one responded or posted after me.
I hope that second generation x2 owners will revive this thread because I will be on this phone till December.

I get an upgrade in April but I think I'll stick with the X2 until June or early July.

I dont think unless a miracle happens and we get an unlocked bootloader and or ICS. As the ROMS get more advanced the harder development is.
i feel like what could be done with this phone has been done. there isnt really much more anyone could do. except maybe a beta cm10 . getting passed up for ics was a death sentance on this phone. i wont lie, if i had hundreds of dollars to throw at a new phone, i would. not all are this lucky though. im right there with you guys until november. until then, atleast we know that we have a few of us still here.
I definitely would port ROMs and fix them up, etc.. but this is my only phone at the moment, and I don't think Verizon would replace it if it all of a sudden became bricked from a bad port. Anyone know what they would do?
I'd say the phone is eol here on xda. Even I've come to a screeching halt on my kexec development. I don't see a future for anything unless I can convince someone I know to throw me a bone and I don't see that happening.

I gave up on mine and just copped a GS3. Rooted that today. I did keep my MX2 as a backup tho just in case something does pop up to experiment with lol.
no cuz its 2 years old
My upgrade date was a couple of days ago, and I traded in my X2 for a Razr Maxx HD. Got a $100 (Motorola) credit from Verizon for the X2, but I think that program will end this month.

It was a reply to the OP.
"Do you think the X2 will get more development?"
"No, it's 2 years old."
That's pretty straightforward. I don't agree with his mentality, but his post was perfectly clear.
It's not that the phone is 2 years old that we're not getting any more development. It's the fact that the damn thing is so locked down, we've reached the end to what it's physically possible for us to do with the device. Other devices, such as the Bionic are almost as old, but they're still going strong. (I actually haven't been following the Bionic that long, so I could be wrong. Am going to switch to one soon myself, though.)
