Rezound Water Damage - HTC Rezound

Hey guys,
Picking up a used rezound. How can I tell if the phone has water damage? I know that there should be strips inside the phone once I take off the back cover, but do you guys know where exactly they are and what color they change to if they have water damage? Also, is there anything else I should be on the lookout for--I'm going to through the issues sticky. haha.
Cheers!

[Q] Dell streak warranty

Hey all, I have a Streak I bought last Christmas and ended up dropping and breaking the screen. It is still under warranty, aside from the sticker being missing on the one torx screw. Its still in mint condition physically with no scratches. All of a sudden the cameras quit working the other day. It wont connect to them, and I know its software and not a hardware issue caused by me repairing the screen. I cannot remember which screw had the sticker on it an would like to replace the phone through warranty. Can anyone tell me which screw the sticker was located on? Any other information would be helpful too, as in the type of sticker or diameter. I know it was pretty thin and white, as the torx driver when right through it with no effort. Or how hard are they to take off and put back on? Could I get the new phone and take it off fairly easily and throw it on the old one before I send it in?
u mean screw under the home plate or under the earpiece plate? if yes thn thr is no warranty sticker i just check mine.
Really? Mine had one under the home place I believe. Cant remember which screw it was exactly, think there is three. But if yours didnt have a sticker at all I wonder if Ill be alright sending it in as is?
I've replaced my screen a few times and I had no warranty stickers on the screws

Amaze went swimming!

Dropped in the potty, will be buying another. I have taken this one apart to look around inside. Wanted to check for memory card and any other color change water damage stickers inside--there is one. ---------I am also going to take vid of the strength of the screen. Ima try to scratch the hell out of it, and see what it takes to break/crack the screen as well , interested in seeing how durable it is. Update later -

Very interesting. Couldn't wait to see it and sorry it happened to ya.
Perhaps you can make a step-by-step vid instruction on how to disassembling and reassembling the Amaze as it will be very helpful for others in case they needed it.

agreed, teardown sticky ftw!
phone isn't ruined water does not damage the phone, only if there was chlorine in the water like a pool. Only thing that can get damaged by the water is the LED bulbs and a new LCD display will be needed at most that's worst case scenario. I fix water damaged phones all the time. Stick it in a bowl of dry rise for a few days that some times help.
@ celltimemb. I didnt know bout the LED fix. Good to know. BUT- I didnt drop it in then pull it out. A kiddie put it there and i found it there later. Put the cell on calcium chloride (Damp-rid) I use this to pull moisture out of many things. Didnt help so i figured pay the deductible and play with the remains. --Yeah i'll do a tear-down vid before the screen test. I had it apart already-I will have s/o record me this wknd.
I think you should re-enact the toilet scene too.
Dont forget the last part
"Will it blend?" video
OH SHIZNIT! Now that WOULD be HTC AmAzInG!
I would love to see how easy it is to scratch the screen with a single grain of sand.

Elaborate please ?
I was under the impression youd have to get lucky there wasnt much current going through for the water damage to be survivable. ((i.e if youre in the middle of web surfing when it takes a dip its likely a goner))
I'm curious too. Does it depend on the phone also? I have friends who dropped their *phones in and it wouldn't work anymore. Probably a Apple thing though.

I have (in the past 15 years or so) revive quite a few cell phones after water damage. What I usually do is to remove the battery immediately and start drying the device completely using air conditioner and hair dryer. Corrosion will kill the mainboard so when I have a driver handy, I open up the case and dip it in a bowl of rice, too.
I don't think we can revive batteries after fully soaked in water, though.
The worst case was when my friend went ocean swimming with his iphone in his pocket. We did everything but it didn't come back. But when he replaced his battery a few days later, the phone came back on.
Doing the screen test, any ideas on what to use and ways to scratch it? I have some ideas. I have the shatter/crack test figured out already.

other than keys n change you could try rubbing sand between the screen and a credit card.
Any updates on this? Kinda wanted to see how tough the screen is. A tear down guide would probably be useful as well.

peace of mind QUESTION

Hi guys. Question for peace of mind.
I was installing a screen protector the other day. There are some dust that sticked under the screen protector so I lt some water run through it. i applied the screen protector back with little dew or droplets of water in it. (Like a wet install) Now im so paranoid that the water got between the the screen and it might break. What do you think?
Well if time passed, and it's still working, it should be okay ... unless some other parts got damaged, and you will only see later! I also got water on my phone many times, but it seems it doesn't do bad if it's not too much.
Why do you need water to apply that anyways? Just take it down, and put it again... or use a new one, they're really cheap.
How much water is needed for it to travel between the bezel and screen?
The water in the the screen protector are small circles of water.
I don't know. Do you mean the water is still in there? Why don't you get it out?
No, I decided not to put a screen protector after all.
BUT DURING the installation, i was pushing the bubbles out while there are small droplets of water inside. Is it enough for it to pass through the lining between the glass and metal lining?
Don't worry, water evaporates

Does it mean my galaxy s2 is safe since 2 days had passed using it and no problem showed up?
Am I just really paranoid?

Probably
I have got my phone wet many times and have never experienced any problems. Besides, what can a few tiny droplets do? They have probably evaporated by now.
Huhu. Am I safd fron long term problems?
Yes, you surely are.

[Q] Xperia X10 Water Damaged :/

LOTS OF QUESTIONS THAT NEEDS ANSWERS ASAP! PLEASE HELP!
So i'm just wondering if the water damage indicator will turn back all white or to its original state, before the water damaged it, after having the phone chill in rice. And does anyone know how long my phone has to chill in rice for ? Does rice only work for water and does it work for stuff like body spray as well ?
Someone please help me TT___TT
From what I understand the ldi or liquid damage indicator window is white, when exposed to moisture three red or pink dots appear, also check to see the phones metal terminals where the battery goes they should be gold with with no corrosion or discoloration. Good luck with the rice thing-

Condensation under camera

Hi, yesterday night I used my phone underwater to test it out. Both my flaps were sealed and nothing else on the phone was wrong. After I removed the phone from water the speakers were a bit dull and the headphone jack wasn't working. I thought it just needed to dry so I went to bed.
This morning both the speakers and the headphone jack work fine, but when I went to take a picture, I realised it was very foggy. I tuned it around to check and there is a circle of condensation under the glass covering the camera. What do I do? Does that mean wate has gotten in? And will this condensation disappear or not?

This sounds like a device fault
The Z2 is ip68 Certified (68= resistance against submersion blah total water resistance 1.5M for 1.5Hrs)
If you still have a warenty, have your device replaced. It seems water may have leaked in elsewhere.

Well then, silly warranty for a waterproof phone
Then again I'm not surprised $800 for the damnable thing
Try getting a replacement
The problem with water damage and warranty is that there is no way to prove that you didn't leave the flaps open.
When the phone cools down, the camera clears up. But when it gets used for a few minutes, the cloudiness comes back. I'm within my 14 day replacement policy for O2, so I'm going to try and get a replacement.
Well physically I would say the internal stuff heats up and the glas of the camera is staying colder so the water condensates there.
I would try to return it.
Try heating up the camera (4K) with all flaps open. This should allow any moisture to get out.
1.Try to go to Sony service center for help. If they refuse to free repair or replace, then you can try to dry it by yourself.
2.You can try to put it into rice. The rice can dry your phone if there is slight water in it.
But it hard to know how much water remain.
3.Do not use your phone before you dry the phone. If the water had leaked into inner and you forced to run the phone, the motherboard will be damaged.
4. Teardown of your phone is the best way to dry the phone and save the motherboard if the water had leaked into inner.

in regards to number 2 and 4...
2) this is a complete waste of time, unless your phone is dissassembled, rice is obviously very absorbent, but it needs to come into contact with something to absorb,
4) I would normally reccomend this, but as its manufactured as waterproof, if you open it up obviously the (very vague) warranty is lost, on top of that no matter how well you put it back together, you wont know if its still water resistant or not....... well not until its too late anyway
