No, but they do get inside tips from time to time and a lot of leaked firmware as well.

You've been misinformed. We can flash an i9100 rom untouched. The only thing that needs "ported" from the i9100 to the i777 is modem, capacitive button configuration for the most part.
You're probably referring to the mic issue that team hacksung is having issues with. Once Samsung comes out with a build all of that is irrelevant.

So you're saying that once the devs have I9100 ICS source code, that it will be easy to modify it and build the kernel to work on I777?
Or are you saying that 4.0.1 will work on I777 with 3.x.x kernel?
I don't think so. If I understand correctly, I777 ICS source needs to drop before the roms can be ported to our phone.

That's what I'm saying. You're thinking too much - the i9100 and i777 are EXACTLY the same besides two things: modem & button configuration.
Entropy created Hellraiser for this reason. He's using his own kernel because it's easier to just slap on something that works (his kernel in this case) rather than port all of the custom-made i9100 kernels out there.
But it doesn't matter. We'll have a couple options I'd imagine, or even more. CM9 will finalize a beta release soon after this leak and they've already got an i777 build coming our way. Not only that, but other devs will create their own soup.
Damn you! Just when my anxious desire to have ICS on my phone begins to finally subside a little, you go and tease me with this sort of crap!
Hopefully, for my sanity's sake, it won't be too much longer.

I like giving thanks when I'm corrected! Glad I was wrong. Bought the SGS2 on release date...returned it for the 4S(knowing I wouldn't keep it long, best trade value though)...traded that for the Vivid...now I'm back...catching up.
Looking forward to ICS running ICScrewD and it is holding me over until this is here via custom rom or official!

Hello
I would like to ask what will it take to have CM9 in this lovely phone? I've been trying the CM9 from the International SG2 and the main issue is the no audio in calls, as far as I know, it will take the Kernel sources from this i777 to be available to get it going, is that something that owners of this phone can help with? My programming skills are as good as driving a jet fighter... but I have the will to help. Let me know what it takes and I'll help.

If you want to help then break into Samsung headquarters, hack into their computers and get the kernel sources.
Also while you are there steal a copy of their development build of ICS for the i777 so we can steal the audio libs to fix the call audio problem.
Ouch .. Its gonna take a lot more patience from you.. There has been dozen of these "type" threads.. All of which get locked... BECAUSE this question has been asked and answered.. For the love of all that is good, please go to the general section and have a little 1 on 1 time, you may find a thread titled USEABLE CM9 THREAD.. Samsung is good at ignoring that - look at the Infuse AT&T Gingerbread release, still no source.
OP, I got an idea, Why dont you message Cyanogen himself and ask him when the sources for the Galaxy S II are going to be released, since he works at Samsung... ask him to leak the source.. and finally ask him for an ETA On when we can expect a first build

anyone working on a stock gb or asop rom for this device?
I use go launcher and it is a lot better than the samsung touchwiz default launcher. the other samsung touchwiz items do not bother me
That actually has nothing to do with what the thread was created for.

I doubt anyone will bother with AOSP GB, most people seem to be waiting to do ICS roms, which is what this device should have come with anyway.
Most will be waiting to dev ics? That's honestly the most bs answer I've ever received on this site in my life. That's like saying they are going to develop yellow snow in hell but waiting for it to snow....

Assume what you will, but if I were a developer and I had any inkling that an OS update was on the horizon for the phone I'm using, I'd probably opt to not develop for an OS that will be obsolete, since it's likely that no one would even use the ROM once ICS is out.
In other words, if I were a developer, I'd wait for ICS too.

Rom devs need source code to work from.
Alot of what you see going on right now is piddly because without source code, not much can be done (based on my limited understanding of how this all works).
Not to discount the one or two roms out there now, its a good start but Samsung needs to give up the goods.

I honestly wish someone would put out a cm7 version for our notes to gives us something better than stock at least until ics comes out, not saying that saurom and tpc aren't nice and trust me I'm pretty happy with saurom rom in my note, but coming from my htc hd2 that had dozens of roms to choose from , and coming from cm9 before I got my note , kinda leaves me hoping for just a bit more rom developing that we have at the moment, if I didnt work 50+ hours a week and had kids to take care of I would take a crack at my own rom but just don't have the time for that level of development.
I used mobile odin to install the att stock ics and now my phone will not charge.
I get the lighting bolt symbol but there is no animation and the phone will not charge the battery. Nothing has changed on the hardware end and what used to be no problem is now a pita.
Anyone have a soloution and running into this?
Yesterday after I flashed, I charged my phone for an hour and the % stayed the same. It seemed to get better later on (Although I shutdown to charge) but I haven't tried charging since.
I've been running it since last night (also used Mobile Odin) but haven't had any issues charging. I've had it connected to a wall charger, USB cable, and an external battery thing from Monoprice - all have worked great.
Could possibly be a bad flash or something random like that.
I also used the Mobile Odin method and have not had any issues with charging using wall charger or usb. I also noticed that there is no charging animation, just the lightening bolt. Maybe you had a bad flash?
I got it working after turning it off and taking the battery out.

Given some glaring bugs in this build (battery stats FC and repeating alarms don't work), I don't think this is the final build of ICS for us. But it is supprisingly stable build. I have no problem use it as my daily driver.
Plus the fact that now we have screen display mode options in settings reinforces my belief that AT&T hasn't had a chance to water down this build yet

Thanks for this! It worked for me although I think I'm going to try an ICS rom instead.
Another point of fact, what we have was released by Samsung and it was not specifically for this phone. AT$T had nothing to do with it. Stable is a pipe dream until there is an official AT$T i777 release. Calling this 'stock AT$T ICS' is misleading. The devs here are great, but it has only been a week since source dropped.
No, UCLC2 leaked here is specifically for AT&T I777 with all AT&T bloatware in tow. It is not some kind of I9100 transplant

someone needs to check their facts... yes, samsung built it but it was built for the i777 specifically, Not another phone. And I'm sure AT&T had something to do with it considering their bloat was already on it. I'm sure it's also one of the builds they are testing.
You also have been telling people there is no real ICS, well what do you consider real ics? One that's officially pushed out by AT&T? the version with a UI overlay, and bloat? real ICS? haha Real ICS is AOSP IMO. Pure android, not crap the carriers push out.
It has only been about a week since source dropped but already the development on AOSP roms like cm9 and aokp is going well. There are a few bugs but nothing major (depending on your needs) I dont mind waiting for video capture to work on AOSP as I never use my video cam on my phone anyway. I do use netflix and crackle but not having them work at this moment is not enough reason not to use it. I'm actually really impressed how stable these roms are considering source dropped a week ago. A deal breaker for me is calls not working, buttons not working, wifi and gps not working.. everything else I could pretty much live with until it gets sorted out
What I said was there's no real ICS for our phones, meaning what we have right now is someone elses cobbled together i9100 port of ICS, not an official AT$T release of ICS for the i777. A leak is not an official release, BTW.
This forum has suddenly exploded with posts of people having issues because they are in too big a hurry to try something that is still not quite ready and/or they do not know what they are doing. It is overwhelming the forum with ICS issues and we don't even have a true ICS version yet. There should be a single thread in Dev for each of these ported ROMs where early adopters can look for help instead of clogging up General and Q&A with all this BS. I think all the ICS threads confuse people into thinking there is an actual release instead of just these ported ROMs and makes them try something they shouldn't. Just sayin'.

No one is claiming that UCLC2 is official release of ICS but it certainly is not an i9100 port. It is an early build by Samsung specifically for i777 and leaked. Read.
Just putting this out there, the battery life off my ICS was initially horrible.
After resetting the phone I have 91% battery after 9hrs off charge, have not been doing a lot granted but that is still pretty damn good.
I think the main problem with the leak was that it included a boot loader and people that installed it lost root and cwm.
It wasn't until task and others cleaned it up and removed the boot loader that it really became more user friendly.
Personally I waited for the CM9 official nightlies for our model to start a few days ago before jumping on ICS. I really liked touchwiz until I tried CM7. Not sure if I would ever go back now to be honest.

As many of us Captivate owners learned, these 'leaks' are rarely more than just Samsung's way to get over-eager users to do much of their debugging for them. Gotta love the early adopters.

I'm certainly very happy with the Captivate GB leak running on my phone back in Aug 2011. The official GB release didn't come until Feb 2012, long after I sold my Captivate. So, ultimately it is up to individuals to decide whether or not to install leaked ROMs. It's more benefits than hassles. I don't think we will see official release until the end of 2012 or even 2013. I don't think I will still be using my SGS2 after this summer.

No need to have the device to pull a one click apart. A hex editor will take care of it.
i would love to try the modem!

Are the devs in this section really that lazy? You all need someone who doesn't even have the device to do your grunt work for you?

nope. pulled the last few apart. leaks just aren't that popular i guess with all the BS ATT has been throwing out lately. Not sure why you said you would have to have the device in order to pull it apart though??? i think i might be on to something here. lol.
P.S.- Something has been going around in the last leaks with bricking phones. not just this device. but some others i guess. people are probably just scared.
well guess were not gonna get to try out this leak. smh

When I said I didn't have the device, I was referring to actually flashing it. I'm not going to pull apart every leak and spoon-feed it to people in the community. You guys are big boys. I think you can handle it.
When I create something (very rarely), it's because I want to use it on my own device. Since I don't have this device, I have no desire to spend time pulling apart a leak for it.

No - thanks to the Superbrick fiasco (See stickies in the Note section), no one is touching ICS leaks for any Exynos device any more. Well, at least not the kernels.
Also, Touchjizz on ICS drove a lot of people over to AOSP firmwares even before it became evident that I777 leaks were affected by Superbrick too. Once I reverse engineered the microphone swapping to allow us to use I9100 sources and firmwares without even dropping in libaudio, I777 leaks basically became irrelevant except for NFC - and hell, on AOSP firmwares, it turns out we didn't even need the leaks for NFC. (CM9 for I777 uses Maguro PN544 firmware, not I777 leak firmware.)
I'm helping Shoman with the modem though.
Heres the Modem for you guys that want to try it. Dont ask me for the rest of the leak. I've already trashed it and emptied my trash bin. Its gone. I refuse to touch these leaks anymore.
