Check your PM...And don't pay anybody to do that, there are plenty of people that would(should) be willing to help with this.

indeed its free, the new update blocks the droid 3 exploit used by the one click, however you can use the dockless root posted here called photon torpedeo

if you can chat with me on google talk ill give you step by step instructions on how to root. [email protected]

[Q] How to root Eries

Have an old Eries and would like to root it. I have an Incredible and have the one click root that I use on the Inc. Would that work on the Eries or is their another program to do this. Also what is the best Roms for the Eries and programs for this phone thanks guys.
I think that root programs are pretty much phone specific, so i dont think that would work. There is a one click root program for the eris in the market, just do a search for it. There is also a bunch of helpful information over at android forums in the all things root section for the eris. I could be wrong about it not working, since i am new to all this, but i have learned alot from all the helpful smart ppl in here. These guys rock

I looked at this, but it's still a bit fuzzy to me. I'm totally new to Android and modding. I have no clue what their talking about when they say abd and what not.
Just among the best adb tutorial I could think of...

Definitely learn adb, it is the better solution than taking the easy way out.

You could follow a [email protected] Android central. It is an auto root.
I used it and it was really easy.
Don't let anyone scare you, nothing wrong with an autoroot. Knowing the nuts and bolts is good, but hardly essential. This is what I used

jcases guide was bomb. If you pay attention you can learn a lot that might be useful later. The ability to use adb nice for potential trouble shooting issues or modding rom's on your thunder bolt .
I used this: http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...9-mac-procedure-how-root-htc-thunderbolt.html but it is only good if you have a mac. This guy made it idiot proof.

question though, why do you use both? shouldn't one just be enough.
this might be a stupid question though, seeing as i haven't watched the video yet, i just assumed that it covered everything.
I followed the guide here and watched the videos by nat3mil on youtube. Manual root was very easy.

half assed Halfcab

Halfcab was to root our phone - a simple process according to them. in 3 days they have managed to brick one of our phone and then not properly root the second. Now it is working very poorly. now they have blocked our emails and will not respond to us. According to them a simple download is needed so why are they not responding. Avoid as you probably will not get what you pay for.
Better taking the advice and know how from the xda site, rather than some dodgy phone guys...

Are you sure it's bricked? You can't get into recovery or use adb?
Personally, I wouldn't let someone I've never met remotely flash my several-hundred-dollar phone (if that's how it was done). But that's just me.

I would let the unlimited.io crew or con247 toy around with mine remotely; such has been done during the initial release of the JuopunutBear S-off method. But only because I have observed them to be legitimate developers seeking to better user experiences and knowledge for knowledge's sake. Definitely not some random XDA reader with a website storefront and access to other people's ROMs and tools.
Edit: read the post below this one. Then read it again; it pretty much sums up the situation.
I a firm believer that if you can't root your own device, you should be stock... Hell I'm even against the one click root utilizes for inexperienced users.. part of having root is the understanding that you are now tech support..the only way your going to learn is to do it the hard way. Not by plugging in and clicking root... Ever notice on any forum for a phone with a one click, there's a ton of "help I'm bricked" threads... Funny thing is you never see these before one click is available...kinda hard to become tech support if you have zero knowledge of what a Linux OS is and how to move around with terminal..
Basically I almost don't feel bad for the scam, shoulda took the time to learn what's involved with being rooted...sorry

Agreed. The Casual method is really really easy.
Who knows... Maybe now that the cat is out of the bag our African Canadian Sock Monkey friend will throw us a bootloader anyway. Just to reduce the risk factor.
I hate to beat a dead horse, but the current method is pretty easy and even comes with a step by step video. If you don't feel comfortable doing it you could pay a local tech to do it for you.

I understand not wanting to mess it up. Only one case that I have read of a truly messed up phone (couldn't make calls) but it was resolved and was never directly tied to the unlocking process. Area read read and then execute. If you pay attention it'll be fine . don't let any issues people are having scare you. If you pay attention it'll work out great.

yes, true story. the instructions are VERY straight forward, very step-by-step. You CANNOT mess up your phone. If you're unsure of any step or instruction, just re-read the process or rewind the youtube video.
I have to say when it comes to unlocking the one button unroot methods have caused more issues than benefits. I only say that because it made it so easy for people to really wreck their phones once they were unlocked/rooted and not really understanding the risks and what it took to get to that point.
That said of course it took me many, many times of reading through the posts, asking questions and getting help along the way. But in the end I was grateful to have know what I was doing, the risks of wrecking my $700 phone and also the true ease of restoring to stock and starting over, again and again and again until I got it right.
Adam's guide is very helpful and watching his video (although it has changed rapidly for the better) which is likely well out of step with the new method still gives you an appreciation of what it took for these devs to put forth our method of defeating the Big Red. Go for it, its not so bad.

I have the U.S T-Mobile LG L9 I've spent couple of days trying to root the phone, I searched the threads here and online but every root method found was too complicated for a NOOB,I know some of you are rooted but some us are not and tried to follow directions but lost on the way.
All I am asking here if anyone can some how simplify the steps for us or have a video showing the process.

What you need to do is read all of it first then try to root. The first page gets your phone ready for rooting. The second page gets your computer ready for rooting. The right before you start flashing the kdz file you have to set up the magic trick (replacement of the bin file). Good luck

I know it's frustrating but the method works. I've done it several times on this phone. Listen why don't you just concentrate on one thing instead of two. Go step by step regardless if you thing you don't need it just go through it. Rooting is not hard but it's not very easy either. Sounds like your experience is getting in the way of your progress. That's just my opine. Good luck!
