So earlier I accidently set droidwall to prevent the market from accessing the network then i uninstalled Droidwall and well it wouldn't connect obviously... So I deleted the system/app/vending.apk and replaced it with one I extracted from the rom download and set it using root explorer into system/app and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and I rebooted it, it worked for one reboot but then it went back to the old market so I repeated the process as above but now i can't get the new market to install and stick... Any suggestions?

You have to remove the old market with adb or flash the new one with an update zip.

hi there.
i have a problem, i removed LG App Advisor from my rooted OO, but the program is still in the menu and it is still working (like nothing happened),
i used the terminal emulator proceedure remounting the file system and then removing the program, this proceedure succeded with every other program, but seems useless against AppAdvisor...and i don't know why, but since i'm a newbie could be my fault...what should i do to remove permanently the app?
Try TitaniumBackup and restart phone after procedure.
Go to Market, download Root Explorer, launch it click on top on mount r/w then go to /system/app and remove App Advisor (I don't remember the exact name, but it has to contain app advisor .apk) from there.

Clear data, try again.. If that doesn't work, and try reinstalling the market apk which I believe is called vending.apk. Try again, and if it still doesn't work double check to see if vending.apk is in system/app.
Report back with your results...

If you used adb install command then vending.apk (market) will install in /data partition, instead use adb push vending.apk /system/app/ ,it should be pushed with the right permissions 644 double check just in case.

My NT is using indirect's root and I had the stock apps removed. Every time I reboot, pandora, netflix, and hulu plus always show back up after I uninstall them. Any clue why they come back after a reboot? My netflix app always asks for an update and I have two copies of pandora on there.
you have to first go to root--->system---->app find the app and delete.
then uninstall
then reboot
(may need to change permissions to delete the crap)
I had this same issue, and one of the best ways to prevent it is before trying to delete/uninstall theme, is to go into the stock app manager and archive everything, this unregistered the flag that says they should be there on the device at all from B&N's perspective, and ensures they won't just suddenly appear again. I had the same issue with Netflix continually reverting to B&N's version instead of the newest version.

how do you archive everything? by the stock app manager i'm assuming you mean the menu where it lists all your apps...
market--->es file explorer
install
open---->top right( star for favs) click. THen select the phone object thing. (/) is under mine
root will open up
click system(should be before vendor folder)
click on App folder(before Bin folder)
select app---> change permissions so you can delete
after delete uninstall that app(which you deleted)
reboot and it should be gone

Hello. I have rooted my Galaxy SII v 2.3.6 on Gingerbread build EL29 from sprint using the SPH-D710.EL29_CL852097_ROOTED_NODATA-OneClick method from odin found in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1433101 . My super user app was working fine until I accidentally moved it using a file explorer. The super user apk is in my systems/app folder but I can no longer access the program and none of my super user apps work. When I have tried to reroot the phone the oneclick method completes and says things went as planned, but no apk and no root access is available. Can someone please help me restore my root access. Thanks in advance, and apologies if I am in the wrong forum.
Try downloading superuser from the Play Store. Delete the superuser you already have beforehand though.

install from play store did not work
Thank you for the suggestion. Two issues, when I go to the store it says the app is already installed. Also when I try to delete the existing version, I get a permissions denied message. I am still stuck here.

Try to reroot by flashing a rooted kernel, rather than SOC.

Make sure when trying to delete, mount on root explorer should be r/w not r/o
Fixed it
Thanks very much. I used the [e4gtauto-sfx.exe] from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342728 to unroot and clean up any unneeded files from the phone then I went back to the odin root and now I have restored root access. Thanks again.
I was successfully rooted and decided i wanted to go back to stock, so i unrooted. I never altered the ROM, just wanted root for the purpose of Hotspot. However, now that i went back to stock, superuser is still showing in my apps and will not delete no matter what methods i try. I did a factory reset and it did not help. I cannot even get my phone to Re-root or do any over the air updates. I am stuck. My phone works perfectly but i would like to update my software AND remove the superuser app. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
same thing happened to me try fixing the root then delete superuser.apk in Root Explorer.
AW: [Q] HELP!!!! Cant get back to stock or reroot!

hsd-pilot, i uninstalled the updates. Went to sys/apps but it will not delete because it says file is read only.
If your using Root Explorer there should be a button top right where you can change the permissions for that folder unsetting the read only
