Verizon employees make good $$$...? - HTC Rezound

I was just at a Dollar Tree(Verizon next door) and saw a Verizon employee leave the store, get into a Lexus IS-F and take a smoke break. Hmm...
Then again, i am in Carlsbad, CA.

You gotta be nuts to smoke in that ride, what a waste...manager I'm guessing, at least? Its all that extra money they're making off the bloatware, God knows I pay those bastards enough every month.

A. Has roommates
B. Goes home to the same bedroom he grew up in and relaxes until mom calls him down for dinner.
C. kicks back on inflatable furniture in a studio apartment.
D. Sells the stickiest of the icky for the money and the street credz.

Not a ton by any means. But much more than say bestbuy, mcdonalds and the like. VZW pays a self sufficient income for one person... Or enough for poverty if only one worker for a family of 2-3 total. But it is equivalent to area you live in. Where as cars are not adjusted per area so much...

lol thanks
wanna know what i make?
i have a bachelors degree and a masters degree, and i sell phones at an indirect store.
i make god damn 7.50 an hour with ****ty commission of like 8% on 1-3 new activations, if i hit 4-8, i'm at 12%, and then it goes on.
it's not good money; then again, i don't have ridiculous quotas to meet like corporate employees do (from what i hear) so i'm content. i graduated in may, applied to 20+ government jobs, didn't get a single one, and then nobody else was hiring, so i took this job...it juts randomly fell into my lap one day. most of the reason is because i agreed to do pay+commission, because i don't want the uncertainty of 100% commission...yeah, i'll end up getting like 50% and **** on phones, buuuuut we are a small store that isn't that high traffic of an area, so i NEED that guarenteed pay weekly to know i have money to pay stuff off. this months been my best month since AUGUST, and thats 4 months ago...so far, i've worked 6 days in december, and i've already sold 11 phones, and have 3 new activations. that's REALLY damn good for me, and i have a feeling this month is gonna be better than summer (and summer is crazy because i live on the jersey shore here, and our store is where all the douchebags and bennys come down near in the summer, so they always drop their phones in water because they're morons so we bank in the summer)
but yeah, i make garbage and i'm very bitter about it
lol especially when i've got well over 40 grand left in student loan debt to repay starting this month

oh and also, i don't consider myself a verizon employee..i don't wanna lump myself in with those corporate store know-nothing douchebags ;D

I work at frys. It is a ***** job. They used to fricking take super dope care for their employees. Not anymore, the owner doesn't even know half of the things that go on in the company, before he was more involved. They treat us like crap now and it starts from home office. I still make decent money but damn stress is way too much. Than again corporations own america now and you are at their mercy to get a good job even after graduating with good education.
I went to verizon store and the manager offered me a job but I had to move to norhtern california. I was actually talking to one of the employees and he brought his manager out to talk to me. He said he could get me in. I told him about all the pressure we are in constantly about signing poeple up for frys cards and forcing use to get warranties and stuff. The guy there told me that they have sales quotas but they don't force them to treat their customers unfair. They all looked pretty damn happy working there, plus they are always fricking busy with customers.
I am trying to get in to management at frys just so I can have a title under my name and get the **** out of there and go elsewhere. I dont even get treated unfair but some people get treated so bad that I am tired of seeing it. ****ers made us work overtime on blackfriday, and we worked from 11:30PM thursday night to 7:30pm at night friday and we all got only 2 hours of overtime.

I think he's talking about Fry's Electronics and not the grocery store. Unless Kroger owns them too? I have no idea ,

The value of a person's car is inversely proportional to the amount of money they make, at a certain point, then up to a certain point.
If it makes them feel better about their crappy jobs...so be it. I do agree though, smoking in that car is pure negligence.

(Sorry, yea I am spoiled, but my dad is a millionaire, lol) I make a hell of a lot of $$ on my online ventures with a group of guys who I worked with in the Army. And, I work some side jobs when I have some free time, usually charge $15-$20/hour.
One of my renters is a Sprint Corporate employee and I know he makes bank. When he moved in he payed me his deposit + 6 months in advance.

New Sprint Phone Every 6 Months at 2 Year Upgrade Pricing! (Sprint Employee's Only)

So it looks like Sprint will be rolling out a new handset program that will allow us to upgrade to a new phone every 6 months at the 2 year discount price! Cannot wait to hear the details but I am sure it will be costly somehow.
Look towards the bottom of the article at Sprint Rewards Me

..... Huh.
How is this going to effect development?
I mean. Developers getting phones cheaper is always good. But that also gives everyone that itch to jump to the newest phone sooner. So, development might only be good for 6months. I dunno...

Since the qualifications have not been announced yet, I am going to assume most won't qualify for this upgrade as it just sounds to good to be true. If I could get another device every 6 months though I don't think anything would hold me back on that one!

So long as it isn't unreasonable? ****ing A right I am. That will keep me from jumping through upgrade hoops, adding lines, suspending lines, paying for buyback programs, finding a buyer, using a case, giving a ****, I'll be able to afford to keep or 2 phones back (the best ones) as backup instead of a generation or 3 ago....
So long as it isn't a gigantic form of anal rape in dollar-sign form I'm in.
I pulled the info below from the link above. Also when I did a search of "sprint rewards me" it seems to go with what is posted below, though I hope it will be for customers as well! Wheres Virus to chime in on this?
C/P
Unless something really changed, Sprint Rewards Me isn't for customers, just employees. SRM is a site employees can log into to claim sales for extra incentives like bonus cash and contest entries. I'd imagine the "New Every 6 Mos." is also an employee only perk since previously a lot of 3rd party Sprint employees were stuck with the standard upgrade program (though they had a great plan discount).
Source: Used to work for a 3rd party Sprint retailer
END C/P
First, I want to point out that one of the comments on the source page ia from someone who states that they used to work for a 3rd party sprint retailer. they state that the program which is being referenced, "sprint rewards me", is a program for people in sprint sales. They didn't claim to know for a fact that this program would only be for customers but did say that it has traditionally been the name of an employee sales program....As far a I can see that probably makes sense. The sprint playbook is something which goes out to sprint employees and retailers, not customers. They highlight the word "YOU" when it says that there is a new program to reward "YOU". Since playbook is sent to employees, not customers, seems they are talking to employees.
Sprint is really starting to fall in line with the other carriers. I don't think that this is a good thing. Think of all things changed just this year. You used to be able to get annual upgrades with sprint premier plans, now they tier the plans so most people no longer qualify. They also added the 10$ "premium data fee" to all smart phones. Now they are raising etf and eliminating one year contracts...pretty much all the reasons I switched to sprint have been eliminated less than a year after signing my contact with them. Don't get me wrong, I plan to stay with sprint even though I could leave etf free. But they are quickly becoming just like every other carrier whereas they used to offer something special. The only thing they offer now is unlimited data without throttling and slightly lower plan prices. But honestly my speeds with sprint are slower than T-Mobile's throttled speeds, do that isn't much of a selling point until they straighten out their network speed issues.
The point is they used to be something special but are quickly becoming another member of the pack. They had better not raise prices or throttle/limit data or they will almost certainly get put out of business by big red or at&t.

Sure! All you gotta do is have at least 10 lines or be on a plan $150 a month or more.
This is really cool. I hope it works the way I'd like.

Sprint’s “Rewards Me Plus” Program is for Employees Only
Posted by: Scott Webster
SEPTEMBER 1, 2011
Yesterday saw a Sprint Playbook leaked online which shows what the carrier will be doing over the next few months. Among the details in the playbook were notes of new devices, policy changes, and a rewards program. Called "Rewards Me Plus" it was described as a new phone at full discount, twice a year. While it sounds incredibly awesome to get a new device every six months at the 2-year pricing, it's not something us consumers will be seeing anytime soon. Unfortunately, this is an employee program designed to ensure the sales staff is always current with the new hot (Android) phones. TechHog was able to confirm the details with a Sprint source who advised that general customers can still work towards becoming a Gold Premier member and earn a yearly upgrade.
Sounds too good to be true to me.

What if someone is on an advantage plan? Would they be eligible as well?
No, it won't be for SWAC.

Great AT&T Service and Great phone

Well I have been salivating over the Note since I heard about it months ago. My only set back was the fact that I had just signed up for AT&T this past November with the Samsung Skyrocket. I tried to put the phone out of my mind but daily I would find myself sifting through YouTube videos. I kept telling myself to just be happy with what I had but, low and behold the phone comes out today and ofcourse I have to have it.
So I call up my local AT&T and ask to comfirm the price off contract was $650 and if they had any in stock. The employee informs me that yes they are in stock, but I will not be able to purchase it off contract. For a second Im lost in dissapointment, then the employee says why would you want to buy it off contract anyway when you can do an early upgrade and just pay $550. Say what! So I hop in my Toyota Matrix and fly ( seriously going about 90 mph) to the store.
I get to the store and let them know I had just called to buy the Note and the manager and an employee start helping me. The employee goes into my account and clearly im not early upgrade eligible, but the manager says its fine Ill just do an overide. So while the manager is doing the overide the employee starts telling about the jawbone speaker that they have been pushing for awhile. It cost $199 so im just listening not be rude, but decline her offer. Then the Manager says how about if I through the Speaker in for free since your already paying $549 for the phone ( ok now we are talking), I happily accept this offer.
I know my story is a bit long but I am always hearing about how terrible AT&T is so I just wanted to send a little positivity there way.
With the case, screen cover, and Tax I ended up paying $649 total. I plan on selling my skyroket for $400 so ill only end up being out $249 dollars. Im going to try out the speaker if I dont like it ill probally sell it for $150 then Ill only be out $100.
Congratz man! :-D
Just something to think about though, a lot of us got the Note before our upgrades were eligible, including me, for $300. There's a thread floating around here somewhere about people who were only like 2 months into their contract and got it for $300.

Well further examination of my receipt I can tell I was offered the Jawbone box because they price of the the Note was discounted to 299, so i guess the Manager was just trying to recup the difference. But I am still happy and I guess I could just go to another store and return the Jawbone because I was charged full price for it on the receipt.

ATT is great?? You just wait!
I'll admit I've had some really good experiences with ATT in-store customer experience.
But over time, they just keep changing the plans and increasing the prices. It's been 8 years since I switched from VZN to ATT so I could have the "freedom" to be one of the first to buy unlocked GSM phones from overseas and not have to wait for phones to be "provisioned" (ala Sprint and VZN).
...but over time, what used to cost me about $250/mo. for 6 phones is now costing me $400/mo with 2GB data limits!
Even when I threaten ATT that I'm leaving, they seem to mysteriously find discounts and savings I qualify for to lower my bill. Can't complain about that too much I guess...
Yeah i think im going to return the Jawbone speaker tommorow and get my 199 back. Im going to a different store to return it course.

Some guy on CL wanted to "disappear" my bill

Someone on CL texted me recently asking if I wanted to trade my 3VO for an Optimus V that was hacked to never receive a bill. I didn't ask how, simply "No thanks" however this doesn't seem possible or legal. Should I do anything or just ignore this person?

I remember an old, old hack for a Phillips Savvy that with a bit of solder you could hack it to each reboot be reloaded with £10 credit... I wonder if anyone is still using those phones - I think I have one in my loft somewhere with a bunch of other phones.
but no - I agree doesn't sound legal at all.
He's most likely full of it, but it would definitely be illegal lol. I wouldn't do much more than passing any information you have on him to his carrier.

lol, I think you could say a phone with a blacklisted ESN is hacked to never receive a bill.
I used to live at an apartment where for some reason the cable company used to never charge me for paid on demand movies/events.
Suckers.
Maybe he would take your address and email address from your evo 3d and use that information to steal your mail to make sure that you never recieve a bill again.
lol some good responses. I was in a rush to get to work when I got the text messages so when things calmed down it hit me - a contract is a contract you will always have a bill until it ends/cancels.
To me the guy is just a joke but I'm sure to less tech savvy people he's causing problems.

This reminds me. When I first got Sprint it was with a SERO account. I ordered a phone (Mogul) and they accidently sent me 2 but only charged me for one. I called Sprint and they had no idea what was going on but told me to send one back. So I sent one back. The next month I realized they put a $200 credit on my account. I called them back and told them what happened and even explained my theory about them refunding me for the phone I returned. The CSR assured me they would fix it. They never did. SERO was about $30/month so I ended up with like half a yr of free services. I'm still with Sprint and SERO.

Ok here are to more stories...
I before I lived in the apartment where comcast didn't charge me for paid on demand, I lived at another apartment and came home to a letter from comcast explaining up to that day I was receiving service by mistake so they disconnected it. I was living there for like a year and a half. I was the sucker that time.
Another time I got fired from Wells Fargo so the manager made a credit(bank lingo) and paid for the hours of that pay period. About a week later, I get a direct deposit for the same amount from them. Then I closed my account. Suckers.

Still no real hype, even at Sprint store...

I was very excited at the notion of getting my N3 today. I drive like a mad man to the Sprint store closest to my home. I was expecting to see SOME type of crowd...(2 p.m.).the store was absolutely empty! So I tell the rep that I want to buy the N3, she said they never got any, not even 1 for launch day? In fact, she said that during the morning conference call, there was no mention of the N3 at all, WTF? She didn't know model numbers or anything else about it, do people really hate the Samsung line that much? After driving to the 3rd Sprint store, I bought the only one that was shipped to their store. Overall, I'm kind of miffed that even the store reps aren't/weren't prepared, knowledgeable or even slightly enthusiastic about this launch, but I'm glad I got my phone!
i went straight to best buy and got mine this morning but they did say they had a limited quantity and no accessories.. so i went to the sprint store around the corner to get a case.
they were excited to see mine said they have never seen the phone and didnt get any in
Local Clearwater store had plenty. Despite all the hype of the Note 3, it's always a sleeper at the Sprint store. The same thing happened last year at the Note 2 launch, and that was even more of a bigger hype since it is the first time the Note series is available from Sprint.
You took the time to complain because there was no rabid crowd like the iPhone zealots do every year? You should be thankful. The store I was at had limited stock AND some stores got their shipments and could not locate them.

I had an appointment at Best Buy for 10:00 a.m. this morning. There weren't many people when I arrived but by the time I was done (took almost an hour!) there was a line of about a dozen people and and lots of talk about the Note 3.
Overall I am much more impressed with the look of the phone and the soft texture of the back; much better than I thought it might be based on many comments in the forums.
Best Buy also had the Galaxy Gear but it was tethered and the security device made the watch look so thick and impossible to test fit. The whole presentation did nothing to help sell the device. Overall from what I could see it looked nice but not for $300. I think Samsung and/or Best Buy really missed an opportunity by not offering some kind of Note/Gear bundle. Even $50 discount might have made me consider getting both.

I was passing on an observation, not really meant to be a complaint. But it was if they had no idea that it was a launch date, no display units, no in-store posters, like they hadn't even heard of the phone. I just found it strange, maybe others here don't.
All the stores in Dallas/Ft.Worth got at least 10-20. I got there at 9am with 1 guy waiting and by the time i left after i kept telling the salesman i dont have to give them my phone that is not under contract..... I saw about 4 people leave the store with them.

We are smartphone enthusiasts. Sprint employees or corporate generally do not care. If they do, they would be working with Sony to push their XPERIA line. With a little encouragement and dealing, Sony will add a CDMA version. Look at the mistake with the uniband Note 3 and the lack of waterproof phone.
Get a couple of enthusiasts from XDA to the Sprint corporate board room and the company will be profitable real fast. Sprint corporate is often clueless just like the people at HP, just like the idiots at LG and HTC that decides their phone do not need an SD card. They make $5 mistake that cost them lots of unsold phones and hundreds of millions. Samsung don't have to beat them when they keep making stupid decision like that. Of course, this is just IMHO.
If I was managing the Sprint corporate store, you bet I will be promoting the Note 3 or any flagship phone launch with posters, display, cases, hooking it up to the smart dock, etc.. Look at the home page at Sprint. They are pushing the Iphones. Nothing wrong with that but they should be pushing any new flagship phone launch. They do not have the passion like the John Legre dude at T Mobile.

Thats because no one is trying to hear they only have one option for a plan. lol If you start advertising the Note 3 also people need to be informed that there plan is changing. People hate switching plans especially when the store reps even have a hard time explaining the new plans. Most people can care less about a new phone every yr. We are the minority. I personally thought you get $15 off the plan immediately. Then they tell me you have to wait 2 months. Just very confusing.

You have to wait 2 months for the 15$ off to kick in? They surely didn't tell me that.

I called sprint to get my upgrade today and the rep was asking me questions on how the galaxy gear worked. Lol.
He said they get a tiny ass powerpoint about the basics and that's it. When I worked for Apple (worst company), I would research online so that I knew everything. Better customer service, better results.
C'mon Sprint. Step your game up.

My Sprint store got the boxes from UPS as I arrived at 10am. They even had a Samsung Rep on hand doing Note 3 demos and Galaxy Gear. Cases were limited, all they had was the Body Glove case which is actually pretty nice. Overall this is a great phone and im so happy I exchanged my HTC One for this.

My sentiments exactly. I dread going to my corporate sprint store. Yesterday, however, i was plesantly suprised that there was no traffic and i was served instantly upon walking into the store. TWICE. By 12 tho, it was filling up and i was glad i was finished.
It is very weird, regardless of what some will have you believe. I was first at one of my local stores to get one (was the only one in the store for the hour or so it took to futz with my account and activate the phone. Got there at store opening). They had not even taken them out of the shipping box yet. Had to go back to the store this morning and they said that I am still the only one to have gotten one. Inexplicable.
I realize the price bump to give preference to Apple (don't agree with it, but understand) but it's almost like Sprint didn't even want this phone to launch at all. Last to announce launch date. No marketing at all. With millions of Note and Note 2's sold, and several million Note 3's already sold world wide, I really can't figure out what's going on. I have seen companies do a lot of weird things, but whatever is going on with Sprint and the Note 3 is beyond me. Sprint's overall lineup of phones is horrendous anyway, getting a true flagship phone should be more of a big deal to them.
I have to say that I love this phone. Coming from a beat up Epic 4G Touch, this is like upgrading from a Pentium 4 to an i7. This is also the first time I have been able to use LTE and I love it.
There is a business aspect to this. Now trust me I don't want to give Sprint more credit than they deserve for being smart because at the retail level they are any thing but smart. However, the bigger push for Apple in all the stores may be a business decision and by design. If you recall, Sprint had to commit to hundreds of millions if dollars to Apple when they got the iPhone line.
Retail stinks anyhow for all manufacturers. I used to be a vp of salrs for a PC company and always felt like being held hostage to retail reps who can't add any value. I recall the days of ComputerLand when I got them to carry my new really cool laptop. There were two versions and we spent a lot of money and time training and motivating their retail team for the launch. I secret shopped the stores and when I asked the sales team what was the difference between model 1 and 2 he said $199 ....I was smart enough to calculate that myself ....the price was on the display.
Yesterday was another good example. I went to the Sprint store and there were no notes on display although they were in inventory. Then I drove to the Best Buy mobile store. Again nothing on display but a bunch in stock. Talked to store manager who said she was given a demo unit by Samsung a few days ago but didn't open it. She also had a Gear which she said she hasn't opened.
A Samsung experience in BestBuy stores is a good idea to help overcome the retail inefficiencies but ultimately we will pay the extra cost. No wonder internet commerce is a multi billion dollar channel

I almost teared up reading this........ Everything you have stated is correct...
Sprint isn't a very effective VAR for Samsung products and I think they are in so deep with the fruit that they are beginning to regret their metric quotas they are obligated to meet on a quarterly basis in order to be in compliance with the distribution contract they signed in order to get into the very lucrative (Icraze) business model/ecosystem.
I wish Samsung would open a retail brick and mortar but the cult-ish following isn't near the same level as Apple.
So for the near future, we will have to go through the regular channels and hopefully the Samsung experience @ BB can get a foothold and become a starting off point for something better and a more customer orientated experience for Samsung users.

Well, [email protected]#k Verizon

So I send a phone in for replacement. Today my bill shows a $300 device charge. I call... apparently a singular scratch on the screen warrants a $300 damaged device charge. Not a crack, a gouge, A SINGLE SMALL SURFACE SCRATCH!
Talked to numerous reps and managers. They will not reverse the charge. Tried explaining that I would pay the insurance claim charge had I known a scratch would warrant the charge.
So as of an hour ago, I am a T-Mobile customer. My nexus 5 arrives in a few days.
This community has been great and I hope the great development continues for this wonderful phone.
I'll still lurk and help in my thread and with issues, but I'm out yo.

Yeah Verizon's head is way too far up it's ass. I'm going to be an AT&T customer next upgrade I save $171 roughly a month too and gain another 2 to my 8 gb's of data.

I only had to put like $75 down on the phone and it's $14 a month. Not too bad. Plus I can upgrade whenever. And T-Mobile gets Nexus so peace Verizon!
There are always two sides of any story. The fact is that VZW has the largest footprint and the best service of all the carriers - I don't think the stats would lie about that. That said, you get what you pay for. If you pay $14 a month for service, you are going to get your $14 worth.
I've had my share of problems with VZW, but my problems with TMo and Sprint were worse. Overall, VZW has done me right - and I've done some stupid crap and expected to get jacked up by them - and didn't.
My contract is up next week. My DNA is still as good as any phone out there, better than most, way better.
I'd like to know the entire story by the OP, the whole thing. VZW wouldn't charge you for no real reason - in the last 10 years I've had them, I've never seen them do this. And in my experience as a Federal IT guy with close ties to these carriers federal contracts - charging for no reason just doesn't happen.
Sorry to see u go Phaded, good luck. I am going to check them all out in nov also. really love my DNA though, so much great stuff going on right now.
Add me to the list of people jumping ship at the end of the contract.

The $14 a month for for the phone, not service.
And that was the entire story. They are literally charging me $300 for a single surface scratch because "no physical damage can be on the phone"
In my area, Tmo has glorious service, so **** em
Why dont you guys just use your dna on another carrier

Most of us don't want to get hit with an early termination fee so we will stay until our contracts run up. Unless you switch to T-Mobile then they pay your etf.

Gotta have it!
I don't like the prices but; I am a salesman and I have to have vzw service as I would not be able to keep in touch with customers. I guess if other carriers had the same coverage they would be the same price.

Oddly, it is opposite here in the Greater Phoenix Area. T Mo gets 20 on a good day, and I always have 40+ wherever I go (besides downtown, every service is slow there).

I had to turn one in for replacement. Screen had a very tiny scratch in the screen. I was afraid I would get hit with the 300 dollar charge bc of it. So I scrambled around trying to find an efficient alternate way to handle my claim. I didn't . I knew it was a gamble sending it in, since once they have it , it's theirs. I rolled the dice. Never heard anything about it. Guess it's all based on discretion. Gotta be a better way. Maybe if they find it not complying with their standard. They simply refuse it , send it back, forcing you to handle warranty directly through manufacturer. Some people can't afford to just shell out 300 for a used phone that was needed bc of a defective phone.

I would love to , if they didn't suck. LOL. Verizon is pricey, and their customer service sucks but their network is untouchable. If you never leave a major metro area, or travel, you have options. But if you travel or live on the outskirts you need a carrier that can provide coverage. Verizon is the only carrier I have great experience with in that aspect. T mobile is buffer city when moving.
