Hi,
I have been reading about NFC and it got me asking myself if it was in SG2
I know it is in some SG2s and after some reading I saw about the 4th battery connection is used for it
I have the 4th connection on both my SG2 and the battery (battery also states it has NFC) but I cannot seem to see any NFC apps in the market (like google wallet) .... I have also read it has to do if it is enabled in the rom
Phones a i9100 bought from honkong
So how can i check if it really has it?
Thanks,
If the hardware has it, then you have it!
Reason why you can't get Google Wallet because it is only within the US and on Nexus S phones.
I think only the korean and att version has nfc.

Yeah thats why I asked, was't sure
Download "Z-Device Test" in the marketplace, it should tell you if you have NFC or not.

Sorry I have no idea what you are asking here, you took an NFC technology????
Lol... I agree... what does that mean...?? I would also like to take nfc technology on my s2 if possible since mine isn't the Korean version...
Or maybe he is saying he got the Korean version... hmmmmm...
Sent from my Galaxy SII
I think he is saying that he got NFC version of S2 and asking for ROM compatibility.
i was thinking about whether to wait for NFC to hit all of SG2, or maybe getting one from the UK (had to wait for a while, since it was rumored they'll get there eventually) ... but eventually decided that even though it's a nice sounding feature, i can probably live without it, and just got mine
anyways, assuming you have a korean phone with NFC support, you think it won't work unless you have a ROM built specifically with that support?
i guess it'll take most roms out there out of the question ...
Sorry but maybe I expressed myself badly ... I bought the new i9100p which is the version with the NFC chip to shop (here in Italy this technology isn't coming soon ..: Mad. I wanted to know if you think the rom for the i9100 normal are compatible. until a short time ago I had the regular version and with the criskelo I was fine ..
I was going to try to get the nfc version myself but didn't due to this particular confusion whether its compatible or not...
Some people said that with the nfc version all it is, is the nfc chip which is installed in the back cover and the battery but the rest of the phone is essentially the same... if that's the case it should probably work... but again I can't say for sure... the model is still i9100, just adding the P... I think it should work... but I would suggest you maybe ask in the respective rom thread or maybe PM criselko himself and see what he says...

This is a NFC enabler from fonzi09 that, well, enables NFC from your NFC-enabled Galaxy S2 (try saying that 5x quickly..). Note that YOUR GALAXY S2 NEEDS TO HAVE HARDWARE NFC SUPPORT, ergo: Your S2 must have a NFC chip inside, whether its a SIM mod, SD mod, or preinstalled. Almost all custom ROMs remove the perms and libs for NFC and this just puts them back where they belong. Capiche? Yea? Good.
All credits go to fonzi09 for this wonderful mod which I'm unfortunately not able to enjoy because I have a UK Orange Galaxy S2...
For those who have a i9100 you don't have NFC chip inside. You need Orange France's i9100 or i9100p for this to work. For those who still don't understand, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA&hd=1

Which ROM are you using?
Nathan
Same problem but I'm using CheckRom.
Are you both sure you have the i9100P version with NFC? I also had this issue earlier on, its been a long afternoon but I'm sure it was solved by using the libpn544_fw.so from my original orange build.

Hey guys I had a question I have asked before but noone seemed to have an answer... maybe you guys can... I have a i9100 and it didn't come with any nfc on it I believe... like the battery has it written on it etc... this doesn't...
so my question is, does anyone know if its possible to add nfc to this phone somehow...?? By maybe getting a nfc enabled battery or something...??

Tried this on my SG2 and whilst the option is there, when I tap to activate it greys out which sadly means that my version does not have the NFC chip. it's a shame but never mind.
Same here build date october 2011

You need those microSD with NFC enabled eg the one that Visa is still rolling out in beta, or something similar. Or a SIM with NFC enabled.

So this is working well for i9100P owners? How many have had success?

So if I have an international sg2 that doesn't have nfc by standard, this will still work if I get the SD card with nfc??

Yep that's it! Using an app called Google Wallet. It's not been rolled out to the S2 yet, although there has been some success through side loading! I'll spend a few hours trying to get it up and running after Christmas

There's an app called "Phone Info" that will let you do it but it hasn't been on the play store in some time (you'd have to hunt around to find an APK online).
There's another called "4G Switch" which is $0.99 on the play store which several people have noted works on the S4. Looks like it's essentially the same app as Phone Info, with a few changes.
I haven't used either so can't comment on their functionality but worst case you could drop a buck and if the paid app doesn't work, just refund it.
Think you can enable some scripts by Terminal in certain ROMs like Hyperdrive

I have a macbook pro as well and its not all that different from a standard PC as far as rooting goes. I have a feeling root access is the best we are going to have for a while...and thats being overly optimistic haha.
Get advanced signal status free from the play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cc.signalinfo and under aditional info use the drop down menu

I'm about to buy the VZW G3. This might be a dumb question, but can anyone confirm whether or not tap to pay in Google Wallet works on the device?
I have it installed and activated TTP but haven't tried it out yet. Hopefully today I'll have chance to test it.

Yes works fine.
Worked like a charm at Walgreen's.

Worked flawlessly at Whole Foods. The cashier looked at me like i was crazy and said "How did you do that?"
For future reference, any phone/device with stock kk + nfc, Google wallet t&p will work. It can no longer be blocked by a manufacturer or carrier.
tried it out once but didn't work (app and cash register gave an error), probably just a fluke
Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah I wasn't sure because I came from a Galaxy S3 with CM 11 and there was a point where it just stopped working no matter what I threw at it. Worked fine for several months before that too. Wasn't sure if it was due to a restriction on the model, carrier or who knows what. About to try it out myself with the G3 today

Working great on my rooted G3.
Worked fine on my Galaxy S4 until Google removed support for everything that was not on KitKat.
So if at any point you were not on KitKat, support would have gone away.
I forgot the cutoff date for Wallet support for pre-KitKat releases.

What was weird was that I was running the latest version of KitKat for quite some time and TTP never seemed to work. Wallet would show it as available but it never actually worked at terminals. Not sure why it stopped working, but I do know that other people had the same problem with the GS3. Just glad to be done with whatever incompatibility or blocking that was and on to a much better phone :good:
Probably unnecessary for me to post but figured I'd also add in that I just used Tap to Pay at McDonald's and it worked beautifully!!!

Works for me. The cashier did not even talk to me through an entire transaction but when I used tap and pay she said...the was really cool.
Hi members, really like the Oppo phone, a couple of things holding me back so your knowledge, and help would be appreciated please.
I've looked at EE and 3 network frequency bands, there are some missing for both networks band 'n29', and for Three band 'B32'.
Are there any UK buyers of the Find N (possibly London based) who are also with EE or Three, are you experiencing signal or connection issues, or call issues?
Or is everything working correctly as you expected it would?
Thanks again
I am on 3 UK and have one on the way. I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks Paul for the posting, and letting me know how it goes, cheers
I'm in the UK and on EE. Mine arrived this afternoon and is working fine. Google Pay works as do all the other Google services. The only issue I'm having is with a few apps that won't span the whole screen even when selected to do so in the settings.
The hardware is great, the software is a little irritating at times. I also have a Fold 3 and Duo 2 and at the moment I'm on the fence regarding which is best between the Fold and the Find N.
Great info thanks, so you also mentioned having Duo 2, I'm using the a Duo (1 gen) also.
How does it compare to the Find N on it's split screen multitasking function? Is it as fluid when operating between two apps like the Duo
It works well although it doesn't seem to offer the same level of action integration as the Duo (drag and drop from one app to the other isn't an option for instance). 12 hours in and I'm on the fence. The locked launcher, lack of pen and all of the bloatware mean I'm struggling to warm to it as quickly as I though I would.
Very helpful ...Maybe some negatives are just due to it not running Android 12 L yet, hopefully the N's future updates will bring a ton of new features and abilities, there maybe an app for 'drag & drop' copy
Not exactly in relation to the OP's network mentioned, but for those lurking wondering about Vodafone, both 4G and 5G working well here in London.
This is really good news. Can I ask how you installed Google services? Are notifications working? Have anyone seen any 3 5g signal in the UK?

The only issue that bothered me was that the handset will not switch to 5g automatically, you have to use the hidden android menu. The issue is discussed elsewhere on here. Once you have changed the setting it sticks until the phone is restarted.
