Sim Service Menu On Initial Boot - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've bought my wife what is hopefully an unlocked Galaxy SII for Xmas and I now have it.
I'm trying to confirm it is unlocked as it would bought unused but the seller said as it is sourced from O2 it should come unlocked.
I've seen the thread about some coming unlocked and some locked so thought I would confirm with my Vodafone Sim.
Put it in and booted and there was only a Samsung Animated Boot Screen (nothing O2 related) and I was then presented with a "Sim Service" menu asking me to confirm what Sim Card / Network I was using?
Now I didn't want to lock it down to Vodafone or even set it up as vodafone as my wife on T-Mobile at least until her contract ends in May.
Does this confirm it is Sim Free / Unlocked? I was planning on rooting and unlocking you see if it was not, but now hopefully I don't have to.
Cheers for any expert advice.

Just place a sim from another network to find out not all handset from likes of Branded companys O2. T-mobile are unlock it tends O2 ,Voda are most times open by default but as you may know they do have handset which are network lock..

Thanks, I have done that and it is offering me a SIM SERVICE menu which lists a number of providers. As it is a UK phone it offers as examples :
ASDA
VODAFONE PAYG
VODAFONE MONTHLY
etc etc
What my question was is because it is a Christmas Present I don't want to force the settings through from my Vodafone Sim when it will be used on T-mobile.
I don't have the T-Mobile sim to test at the moment.
Just looking for confirmation this menu proves it is SIM FREE and I will boxing it all up to wrap for Christmas.
Or if I do select Vodafone PAYG to test, is it easy to factory reset back to this menu afterwards?
Hope that makes sense.

Not an expert but try:
samsung mobile code. - - - lock code.
*#7465625# = Check the locks
Mine is unlocked and says ...
Network Lock [Off]
Network Subset Lock [Off]
SP Lock [Off]
CP Lock [Off]

Top Job, this one says the same so happy it is unlocked.
I'll test it and then I have a code to factory reset (*2767*3855#) which I will do when finished.

You can unlock the HTC HD2 easily using the UNLOCK CODE,You can buy the unlock code from the site Mobileunlocksolutions.com/htc-hd2/rs1wp9/ and Unlock it from Network lock, then use with any GSM Network Sim card.
I unlocked a T-Mobile USA & European HD2 here
Got codes back in under 48hrs & even contacted me to correct IMEI as I done a typo, oops ... codes worked fine & are so simple to use.

[Q] SIM Network Unlock PIN

Hello, I have an android Sony Xperia Arc, I bought it in Mexico but now I'm in australia and when I use a sim from here (yes optus) it says that I have to enter the Sim network unlock pin. My question is: how do I know the PIN? or is there any other solution so I can use the optus sim with my mexican phone?
These forums are not for sim-unlocking your phone, but the steps you could take are:
!: Ask your Mexican provider for the emma/imei code to unlock your phone. (That may be free if you bought your phone on contract and your contract has expired)
2: Use the Omnius-software to sim-unlock your phone (You will have to pay)
3: Take it to a shop to have it unlocked (You will have to pay)
Good luck.

Does the message come after you've typed the actual pin? If yes, you can click "dismiss", and access your phone.

[CLOSED] Can't Unlock Rogers Galaxy Note i717r

Okay
So I got a Rogers Galaxy Note from eBay and ordered an unlock code for it online.
I used the same website that I have been using for over 2 years to unlock phones.
But the code didn't work
Now here's the strange part, I read in another forum that dialing *#7465625# shows the unlock status on Galaxy phone.
When I dialed that and checked it shows that Network Lock is [OFF] which means my phone is unlocked.
Then why is my phone showing the 'Enter Network Lock code' Screen if it is unlocked

Weird Carrier Lock (?) or non-compatibility by AT&T for the LG V35??

Got a secondhand mint condition V35 off Ebay. It was listed as "for AT&T only and I cannot unlock." Submitted an unlock request to AT&T and got approved. If I insert a non-AT&T sim (I've tried a deactivated Verizon and an active US Cellular) I get no prompt for unlock code at all.
Checking the device itself via 2945#*350# (which brings up the SIM Unlock Process menu), all five options (Network Lock, Service Provider Lock, NetworkSubset lock, Corporate lock, SIM/USIM lock) show "Your phone is not personalized." Which in all previous cases to my knowledge, means the phone is already unlocked.
The problem? The US Cellular SIM is active, but I get the "Emergency Calls Only" result when I attempt to use it. Granted US Cellular is CDMA, but any 4G/LTE bands require a SIM regardless of carrier. So I expected it to work. I'm puzzled and am wondering if someone can tell me what I'm overlooking?

O2 say my phone is not on their locked database

I have a sony xz premium phone model G8141. I purchased it second hand from a business on ebay, who say it is locked to o2. This appears to be correct as there is an app called "o2 recommends", i can use o2, tesco and giffgaff sims in it, but not ee or vodafone the phone comes up requesting the unlock code. I contacted o2 to get the unlock code, but they told me that it is not on an o2 phone and is not in their database. I can go and get it unlocked at a high street unlocker, but why might the imei not be on o2 s database. Could the phone be actually locked to another network eg tesco, sky, giffgaff, lycamobile etc. Could o2 have recorded the imei incorrectly, or could the phone have been originally locked to a different network, say ee, then unlocked and then locked again, but this time to o2? Or could there be another possibility?
