Question on VVM - HTC Rezound

Alright, I was just married to sprint for the past couple years and got hitched back with VZW as some ofyou may know.
On Sprint we had VVM and it was free of charge but we could pay an extra $3.00 to have it transcribed to text so we could read it on screen.
Does VZW offer this? Anyone know of an app that could do it?
Looking for options other than google voice.
Thanks
-Scott

VZW's is all pay and I do not believe they offer the transcribe service. Are you familiar with YouMail? They have free and pay services and transcribe is an option on the pay side.

Verizon offers their VVM for $2.99/month and it doesn't transcribe. I don't know of any apps that can intercept voice mails and transcribe it for you. The program I can't mention is the only service I know that does what you want. I've been using it for several years and not had any problems with it.
Edit: Didn't YouMail get yanked from the Market. I remember reading a story about it a week or so ago.

Ive heard of youmail but never checked it out.
I need that transcribe service badly.
I'll give 'em a look shortly.
Any other suggestions?

lol, ok man...
Does GV work with VZW? Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I know with Sprint we had full integration with Google. VZW seems to be more in bed with MS.

GV works fine with Verizon. Never had an issue. GV program sometimes has issues setting up the service correctly, but you can do it manually. It's basically dialing a number that forwards voicemail to another number, in this case to your GV number. I've been with VZW for almost 10 years and using the VG service since it came out.
The transcribing feature is not great but then again it could be that most of the people that I talk to have foreign accents.

Ok, with Google Voice....
I always had issues with MMS. Can you disable any portions of that integration and just use VM.
When I say issues I really mean it would never send MMS.

I just use the VM feature. I don't try to make calls or messaging with it. The features are there but I just don't use it. You have to tell it to use those features if you want, otherwise it just goes through the default on your phone. Plus I don't think you can send MMS with GV, I thought it was just text.

I used YouMail on my BB's and then my X1/2. I went to Google Voice now though and prefer it's service. YouMail is a good app though. I believe their transcriptions do cost money. It was temporarily yanked from the Market due to issues with T-Mobile customers/phones, but it should be back up there.

Exactly, that was the issue. I installed it on my new Rezound, Used the Sprint integration with my 3D. Google takes the number from Sprint so my real number became GV number. Then from there GV would ring both phones when I got a call. Both phones would receive SMS.
Pretty cool...
Until I tried to send an MMS. It just wouldnt send from Rezound. I removed GV and MMS would send fine. So I didnt have time to mess with it and just ported my number from Sprint to VZW.
Then..... I find out VZW doesnt have transcription

YouMail seems to have higher quality audio vs GVoice, but their transcribe services seem a bit overpriced.

Yeah I really don't need transcription so for me YouMail with the higher audio quality is a more viable option. Plus GVoice's transcription always has been quite wonky for me. You can't beat free for sure!

Agreed, the transcription was not great but I just need to see if its an emergency or not. Even with bad transcription I can see that... Im gonna give them both a try and let you all know what I think.

Well, I tried Google Voice and it does exactly what I needed it to and nothing I dont. And it saves me $2.99 a month!
Thanks for all the input.

Google voice transcription -
"Hey, I heard it. I'm making a cop car that I might work for the party tomorrow and effort to get the time of the, and I was wondering if you could stop saying that the talk to you. Bye bye."
I think it got "hey I " and "bye bye " right. The rest is gibberish. If that was an emergency call I'd have no way of knowing. I always listen to my mails, and read them just for kicks.

Can't send or receive calls

All of a sudden my evo 3d that I've had since the release date no longer makes or receives phone calls. We dialling out the phone goes past the dialling indicator and the phone call begins counting but never rings. There is a slight static sound if I listen closely. I called Sprint and had them reprogram it but it didn't fix the issue. I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations because I dont want to have to factory reset my phone untill its a last resort.

That's common for past due balance. They shut everything off.
Pay your bill. LOL.
Might have put the phone on the bill? Went over a spending limit?
Thats funny cause the same thing just started happening to me. Started about 2 hours ago. The Nexus One had a bug like this too on CM7. It might have to do with gingerbread and sense not playing nicely
If you are having google voice take over your sprint number, its causing the issue. I disabled GV sprint integration and had it only handle my voicemails and now calls work fine.
Yep.. turn off Google voice. That fixed it for me.

Gotta call Sprint and tell them you can't roam. Some times with hands-free activation that won't reprovision correctly. It takes 2 minutes on the phone OR www.sprint.com/chat takes 3 but is easier.
This came up a lot on the E4G forum after everyone was trying everything they could (including hands free activations OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again) just to get the new PRI--which made no difference to any but a very select few, argue if you must.
Call Sprint, tell them you have error 16 and you need an HRL refresh...
..but obv don't tell them anything about rooting lol

lol, "signals", I got the same thing. I'm split between believing that they dumb it down for the common non-techie caller or that they were trained that it was 'sending new signals' to fix it, so, that's what they actually think is going on.

Hahaha I think its common thing in customer service to call it signals. When i was working for Charters cable repair, they would tell people im sending signals to your box. Well they said signals I think because people freaked out if you said im going to hit your box i guess.
Thanks I thought I might have to call them.

I had already done the error 16 thing and Sprint fixed that. Was a little worried when I saw this thread so I used Roam Control and forced roam. Calls work fine for me. I guess if you've already done the error 16 fix via Sprint, it's OK.

anyone found away to do this without calling sprint. i had to on my phone. which works perfect now. my wifes on the other hand i have spent hrs on the phone with different tech people doing the same processes i did to fix mine. the result ends up roam still doesnt work. they created a ticket for me. and asked to bring it to a repair center. im in the process of restoring it to factory and relocking. which sucks i have to do. but her phone simply will not roam.

Phone Calls No Longer Show City and State?

Anybody else have this problem? Recently, my phone stopped showing the City and State of incoming and outgoing calls. It was a very minor feature, but it was nice to know who was calling me from where since everybody in college has a different area code than mine.
i belive that was your trial of "city ID" program, preloaded onto your phone by AT&T.
city ID is a pay service..

cityID was a 2-week trial. You should've gotten popups notifying you of that fact.
I never noticed this on my GS II, but I didn't run stock for long.
Now that you mention it though, that was one of my initial observations after having the iPhone, you saw city and state for incoming calls.

Yepp you should definitely try TrueCaller. It's a free global caller ID with city ID aswell.
You can get the APK from truecaller.com from your phones browser
I quickly switched to a free app to do that job. I'm using Mr. Number at the moment. I have no complaints with it. When a new number calls me, the app checks everyone else's contact list to come up with the caller's name. when my dentist called, the name that someone else used on their contact list showed up in the notification.

It seems as its not free, just a 7-day trial then you pay $6.99 one time fee to continue using it for certain countries (US is one of them)
Here is a snippet fromtheir terms of use page
Users in the following countries will need to purchase the application for continued use after the 7-days trial period is over:
Canada Denmark Italy Norway Sweden United States Austria
Users in other countries will until further notice be able to use the application 100% FREE OF CHARGE (except for any data traffic costs from your operator). A user license to TrueCaller costs $6,99 (ONE TIME FEE) and entitles the holder a non-transferable, non-exclusive and unlimited term right to use the application on the device downloaded to without any further subscription fee, or any other purchases needed.

I jinxed it! I got the phone on the 6th but TODAY the CityID popup appeared. So maybe it's a 22 day trial. ;-) Anyway, certainly wasn't 2 weeks, at least not here. I made sure to click NO.
I actually went ahead and signed up for it. $2/month and now I know who the hell is calling. I know overall the TrueCall thing would be cheaper, but its integration on the calling screen just isn't as slick.
Also, I used a jig after I rooted, so I got like a full month for free!

* if you ignore or press cancel or back button, it will go on in trial mode for a few more days.
Mine poped up on the first call on the day 14.
I thought of that but I looked and I'd taken numerous calls over the last few days.
Hmmm....does the trial begin when the phone is first put into service or when the first incoming call is accepted? That's it -- looking back I didn't answer my first call until 10/14. All the rest I let go to VM.
Mystery solved, 14 days it is.

Delayed SMS issue

Anyone getting this on their evo3d? I get these intermittently with people outside the sprint network but now I get them ALL the time on our family plan with my family.
That makes no sense on why texts are delayed for hours when we are in the same house or miles down the road from each other on the same sprint plan. Has this issue been identified and fixed yet?
I am rooted running Titan HD and my wife has a galaxy s2 not rooted.
Yes mine is delayed often. I have google voice and have to check the website periodically to see if I got a text that my phone hasn't yet received. Kinda annoying.
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
my messages are very often delayed. my friends call me and ask if i received their sms. kind of sad.
Call and ask they check your towers. I get that if I'm roaming. Also gingerbread ghostly sms is an app that pulls delayed or un received messages for you. I used it allot on my Evo, but haven't on my 3d..

I'm having the problem with my texts randomly not being sent until hours or days later. My phone shows the time I actually sent it, but google voice shows the time the recipient actually gets it. Does anyone have this problem that isn't on Sprint? Reason I ask is that I just bought this phone and I'm hoping I won't have problems. I'm in the UK by the way, on Vodafone network.
When my wife first got her 3D it wouldn't get most of text messages, just prior to that Sprint sent us an AirRave to try because we had extremely weak signal at our house, once we returned the AirRave the text messages worked ok on the 3D.
Still a no go. That ghost sms doesnt help much either

It is most definitely the Sprint network problem and Verizon's problem while roaming on their network. We may be able to roam but they definitely dont give our traffic or calls any sort of priority. If I am roaming I will not only have messages not sent or received but calls dont even go through and I will just get a notification that I have a missed call at some point.
A verizon phone on Verizon network doesnt have this problem and ATT doesnt have this problem (hasnt for years). Only Sprint and sometimes TMobile have these issues.
I have narrowed it down a bit. I send a text via the stock messenger and I go online to GV and the text I sent is not there.
If I send a text from GV or WhatsApp then everything works as it should.
There seems to be some sort of miscommunication between the stock app and pushing it to GV
I've been having this problem for about ten days, but I'm on a cdma hero with Sprint. I've had Google Voice for about 2 months, but have never used it for sending sms. I only got to this thread because I've been on google trying to figure it out...
happens to me every few weeks.
i have GV on sprint.
randomly people will tell me they suddenly got 10 or so texts and suddenly the recent chat we had the day or two before make a whole lot more sense.
and i also get the random texts that never arrive to me that i can see on google voice though
So a couple of days ago I disabled Google Voice to troubleshoot, and I haven't had a single problem with sms since... The issue (for me at least) is in Voice forwarding my texts (since it unfortunately integrates with sms as well). I do like Voice as my voicemail service, so I'm thinking I will try to re-integrate Voice with my phone to see if it functions properly. I may get around to it tomorrow, and I'll post back a few days after using it with results when I do.

Is there another solution to talk and surf on the S8+ Sprint

So im loving my S8+ so far coming from a glitchy Note 5.
I have been using the Hangouts dialer app to be able to talk and surf at the same time with Sprint. It works but it sucks for business.
It sucks because it drops calls all the time. Especially if Im on the phone with an automated system or big company. It will just hangup. Ebay is the worst with this. As soon as it hears hold music it seems to hangup or disconnect
Or if im on a call using Hangouts dialer app. If i get an incoming regular call it will automatically drop the Hangouts call without warning.
Any other apps or solutions to try????? I need to talk on the phone and look up things on the web or get data notifications while im on the phone sometimes.

Tried them for free for over a year. In my area(top 10 city in the country by population) they suck and I feel like it was not even worth the $0 price I paid.
You can do it with the hangouts dialer....
Its just i was wondering if there was a similar app that worked better.
Sprint does suck but im not going to pay 15-20 more a month for T mobile
I had sprint for many years suffering with all the black holes in my city. Went with a new provider that has 22gig unlimited on the Verizon network. While sprint has awesome speeds if you are next to the tower , you might as well not have a cellphone if you aren't. I got mostly 3g wherever I went, and this is a top 25 market. You could talk and use data on a note 3. That's long gone.

I've had it this way for a while, so just is what it is. I get better service with sprint that verizon or att offer here (co workers have one or the other and its really sad) and tmobile...they are a joke.
That said, i'd love to find a legit app solution to this, I can't have anything sketchy (dropping calls due to others, etc) due to the nature of my job.
They will be enabling a solution to allow data usage while in a call sometime this year. It's an important feature so I believe it's a high priority.

Well I've been employed there for 16 years and these are the only executives that have actually known what they are talking about, cared about what customers and employees think and delivered on what they said. They were handed a big ol turd and from my perspective, they've done more good in less than 3 years than the previous regime did in 10.
I'm not on the wireless side so I don't know much about that tech and how it works.
Google sprint VoLTE. Sprint needs to update to voice over lte for voice and data to work simultaneously. Supposedly they are going to update to Volte soon. I'm not holding my breath though

The only solution with the state of current hardware is for sprint to switch to voice over lte, there won't be any other solution.

There's no way to use data and phone service on Sprint. That's the way that the network is made.

Well actually you can but its device specific, all the latest phones over the last several years don't support that feature but older phones did at one point. Phones like the evo lte and gs3 and possibly gs4 and a few others supported svlte, which is voice and data at the same time. If you had one of those phones now, you will still get voice and data but its due to the hardware set up of the device and not the network.
I KEEP Getting told they're reconstructing the networks. Should be done by end of year.
I keep saying HOW THE HECK do you expect to compete when the biggest feature is missing.
I'm not understanding how it could be hardware though. When they sell the same thing as Verizon.
They will do testing this May 31, but i read only is in two model of phone, and GS8 not appear.
