[Q] Problem with modem

I think I have a problem with my modem. Whenever I try and make a call it just gets stuck on dialling, no tone. When I try and ring the phone the dialing phone makes the correct sound but my phone doesn't ring. I can send and receive texts.
I'm running CM10.1 with Siyah-Dorimanx kernel 9.39. Baseband is XXLS9
Are there any suggestions?
I ran a backup in Cwm, full wipe, flashed stock ROM. Checked that phone calls were Ok.
Then installed CM10.1, calls still Ok. Restored backup and calls were broken.
Flashed stock, then CM10.1 this time advanced restore just data and everything seems to be Ok. Don't think I'll mess with modem again!

[Q] strange sounds when incall after some time

im helping my wife. and i got the problem described below.
When making or receiving phone calls from my
s3 some strange noise starts happening and
won’t stop, resulting in me or the person I am
talking to having to hang up an make the call
again. I have tried new modem. resetting back to stock. flashed new build. reinstalling the
operating system from the built in function and am still experiencing the problem.
If you've already factory reset and flashed a fresh stock 4.1.2 rom for your country then it can only be a hardware fault.
Maybe worth trying a mega wipe script first?

already done that. viber and skype works perfect. and also the built in internet call service.
so i think it must be something else like operator(3 sweden) or something as i didnt have this issue a year ago. it started with the lastest update.

[Q] Cant make calls, MDK custom Rom HELP PLEASE

The problem. Every time I try to make a call through either the phone app or google voice. When ever I try I get a black screne and my phone locks up. The call goes through. But there is no sound on either end. The only way to unfreeze my phone is for the other end to hang up.
I'm currently running TWRP 2.6.3.0 custom recovery.
I'm currently using the Dirty Unicorn du_jftlevzw_2013-10-16
I tried Hyperdrive first. Which was working fine for a while. Then every time I rebooted I would get stuck on the Samsung Custom paddle lock screen. Which would require me to re-install it, so I could use my phone. Obviously this was not working for me.
Then I tried Dirty Unicorn w/ the 20130813 gapps. Everything was working great until I realized I couldn't make any calls.
Then I tried installing JellyBeans_B7. Still had the same problem. everything working fin, except for the fact that I cant make calls. Exact same behavior.
When back to Dirty Unicorn.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I Odin'ed back to the factory image. seems to have fixed the problem

Did you flash a non-holos radio? Because I did and the same thing happened to me, I flashed the me7 non-holos to my mdk phone.... bad idea. To fix it I flashed the mdk non-holos. Now I just flash radios without the non-holos.bin and all is good.

[Q] No Phone Calls after upgrading to anything past 4.1.2

This seems to be a weird issue that I'm having, and I hope I'm not missing a step...
Anytime I install a custom rom past 4.1.2; I get no phone audio. I can load up web pages fine, SMS/MMS works to my knowledge, but there is no phone audio. I'll call my house phone, and it will ring the house phone, but I cannot hear myself through the other line. I've tried flashing radios/modems, different combination of ROMs and kernels, and the only way I'm able to keep an active phone, that is able to make phone calls, is to stick with a stock ROM.
My first thought is maybe it thinks it's an unlocked phone? And that's causing it to act up, but I've never had an issue like this before. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe the kernal is problem
What is your specific device model?
What have you tried to flash exactly?
Who is your carrier?
Are you flashing clean with all wipes?
Are you letting rom settle?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using XDA Free mobile app

Apologize for the delay - been busy at work. I guess I could've been clearer.
I am using the SGH-i717 on AT&T. By stock, I meant a Touchwiz-based rom (i.e., Padawan JB). I have no problems with making or receiving phone calls. Whenever I flash a ASOP-based rom, (i.e., LiquidSmooth, BeanStalk, etc.) I have intermittent phone issues. The phone issues I'm having is not having audio when making or receiving phone calls. I know that it is actually placing the call, but I cannot hear the person on the other end, nor can they hear me. Now if I go into network operators, and select an operator that I know isn't going to work (i.e, Verizon, or T-Mobile), and then use "Choose Automatically", sometimes that works for a little bit. However, that has been working less and less now.
My process of flashing includes flashing the rom of choice after a full wipe and reset (right now, it's LiquidSmooth 4.4), wiping the cache and dalvik a couple of times, installing Polluti0n's rom patch, wiping cache and dalvik a couple of times, then installing PA Stock 4.4 Gapp, and finishing the whole process by wiping cache and dalvik a few times more. This is all done through gimmeitorilltell's TWRP Recovery 2.8.0.0
As stated before; I have no issues with Touchwiz-Based roms. I can make and receive phone calls with no problems. Also, before I rooted the phone, i updated it through Kies; so I assume that would update it to the latest radio available. That would be my first suspect, but I'm having difficulty finding a flashable radio for the device.
There also might be a step I'm missing, since all my experience previously with rooting and flashing came on CDMA devices, so there was no issues with radios.

first off i would flash the rom like so.
1. Factory Data reset
2. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
3. Format System/Data
4. Install rom from Sdcard
5. Wipe Cache/Dalvik
6.Reboot device
7.boot back into recovery
8.Wipe Cache/Dalvik
9. Flash gapps
10.Wipe Cache/Dalvik
Check to see if all is well once the rom is flashed and only the rom. Seems like over kill but can help narrowing down the issue, but i do agree with you as kies being the culprit I never did use it let alone trust it to update the device. Odin would be a better choice and no need to update the device for the latest radio as we have flashable zips. Blazes ics modem is what I'm currently using and has been great, one last thing I'd recommend is to go here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and grab the JB update and flash it via odin if all else fails.
I experiencing a similar symptom. Intermittently, not one can her me no I can hear anyone. I'm currently on Slimkat 4.4.4 and I have to reboot in order to make the call. Never had this problem when on stock JB 4.1.2.
Can some one point me to how to downgrade to Stock 4.1.2. Thinking about going back, I need a reliable phone.

Emergency calls only aleatory on 4.3 Stock

Hi everyone,
I really need your help for a problem that i have.
I was on 4.3 stock with Boeffla Kernel, everything is good, i installed after CM11 to test it and after a day, i flashed back on XEF (XXUGNJ2 / ) 4.3 Stock ROM with Philz recovery only, all other things are Stock.
My phone work fine, but after an aleatory time, my phone is on "Emergency calls only", i must enter on Airplane mode and back to network mode.
My phone work normally, but after hours, it went back to "Emergency calls only"....
I reflashed XXUGNJ2 again with Philz WIPE, and the same problem, the phone works and after a time it became on "Emergency calls only"..
I search on the net, and found there is a patch Modem/Kernel which resolve this, i flashed them and WIPE ALL, the same problem, it work a time and went back to "Emergency calls only"...
Do you have an idea to resolve my problem?

Try to flash another modem and see how it works.
Be sure you flash a modem compatible with your region and carrier.
Thanks for your reply.
Being on xxugna8, i already flashed XXEMG4, and the same problem, worked a while and fall on "Emergency calls only".
Any help please?
Have you done a clean install when you switched to CM11? I would be you I would do again a clean install of rom+gapps+kernel+modem and see how it goes.
I didn't stay along time in CM11 to see if the problem is there in CM11, but i want to stay in Stock ROM.
I always install with a clean install (Wipe with Install a new ROM in Philz Recovery).
