i was upgrading to XXKW5 where i was in the step of downloading insecure kernel but somehow odin says md5 value was incorrect, so i took out the battery and start my S2. then, unlocking sim card screen prompted and i enter my code and wait (normally it took less than 30 secs). this time it took more than a minute, so i switch off my phone properly and turn on.. now it is either in no network mode or flight mode.. and when i try to enable flight mode thru settings, it get stuck. wat should i do now?
If you have no imei in settings/about phone you have to restore the efs folder if you have backed up it before... If you have the imei, I think you should flash a wipe stock ROM through Odin...

i've read bout the efs folder just now but i didnt make any backup.. however, i have a backup data from titanium backup, it was long time ago and im not sure which version and whether does it contain system data file.
is there a way to identify the version?
is efs folder being backup together using "backup system data'' in titanium backup?
if in your sd card there is a folder called EFS_BACKUP, then you can use files contained there for restoring... but I don't know how because I've used efs pro! tool... Perhaps you can try to flash a different modem... For example, in my kk5 rom i've ki4 modem....

Try using another simcard or re insert it just to make sure. If another simcard works then maybe your old sim was locked out or something or is broken.

no luck on that folder.. im halfway of making a usb jig! wish me luck!

USB jig won't help you with your SIM card problem lol. It's used to get the phone into download or recovery mode when you otherwise can't ( softbrick ) and to reset the binary download counter. Try to flash Frankenstein's XWKK5 ROM and see if it's gonna work.
nope, it's not bout the sim card..

Besides restoring backup, looks like your stuck flashing stock rom the rooting and cwm. If your using a rom you can cwm factory restet. Just make sure you do not tibu your systems settings or it will lock it.

Odin something else or use cwm to flash another ROM if you've got that installed.
How do you forget the pin on your own phone? Aren't you constantly locking/unlocking it to read emails/texts?

I didnt actually forget , something weird happened this morning with my pin , i remember i accessed my phone at 8:50 in the morning because my alarm went off at that time . I went ro work and arrived at 9:45. i tried to enter my normal pin 3224 and it was a no go . At first i was stunned i figured my fingers were kins of greasy and my phone was not registering my commands correctly. until i entered it over 75 times and it wouldn't go through . What perplexes me is that to set another pin you have to enter it twice and confirm it . I didnt do anything like that so im really wondering what is going on

I don't think you can flash a tar from recovery, granted I've never tried and an unfamiliar with stock recovery.
What recovery are you on? Is your phone rooted? Do you have clockworkmod recovery installed? If you have cwm, you need a zip flashable ROM from the ROMdev subforum.
If you are all stock, could Odin something onto it probably.
Also did a buddy or SO mess with you and change your PIN?

Does anybody have any suggestions?
Sorry I can't help but why in hell did you delete the build.prop?

What carrier do you have? Go into the respective carrier dev section and download the stock version and flash since you can still get into download mode.
Odin stock .tar
Sent from my Xoom using xda app-developers app
I did not mean to, I first renamed build.prop.bak to build.prop then I had two files named build.prop I chose the old one to delete and then they both got deleted. This was rom toolbox lite's doing.
my carrier is ROGERS in canada it is the SGH-I747M version of the phone.
but if the stock.tar will work, should'nt the clockworkmod.tar that I used to root the phone work as well?
build.prop is very sensitive on GS3 , i mistyped false , and it softbricked would not boot up , fortunately i am not a noob and had nandroid backup and CWM flashable rom on internal sd card, incase backup failed.
Lesson here is always to have backup .
I did a nandroid backup as well, but it won't let me go into recovery mode to do a restore.
Is it okay to flash an AT&T rom to a Rogers device or should I wait for a stock Rogers ROM? ( they are both model number SGH-I747M)
T-mobile rom worked on my AT&T GS3 , but it was without modem or kernel.
Wrong modem or kernel can mess things up.
Strange that you cant get into recovery , was it working before ? Power+Home+Volume Up , you wait till first samsung message then release all buttons.

Odin and CWM are totally different. Odin is computer based. CWM is on your phone. If u can get into download mode then u can Odin a stock .tar

Thanks guys I was able to get into recovery mode and do the nandroid restore, by taking out the battery, and restarting. Thanks to another thread in the forum with the right tip.
Hope this helps someone else whose only problem is that they can't get into recovery mode.
Recently , my litile brother typed incorrect unlock pattern more than 30 times .. that resulted into my phone being locked .. so i had not any other option than to factory reset my phone .... but my phone was on stock samsung ics rom and my phone has brickbug .. inspite of knowing this i factory resulted my phone .. .. so my phone is not booting .. so now i have tried to restore the nandroid backup which i have taken before through cwm ... but the cwm says the md5 sum is mismatching ... may be this is because i have changed the name of the folder in which there was the backup ..now i dont know what to do .. i have read about commands in adb but i dont know how to use adb ...
The brick bug is where you hard brick your phone. Fortunately for you it booted. But i think you are on 4.0.3 which is ok. Anyway, you shouldn't have renamed your backup. You can try flashing another rom or the rom you currently are on through odin (or if you are on a custom rom which is flashed though cwm then it's okay too). Maybe someone knows how to restore your backup which has been renamed but for the mean time, flash another rom and you'll be okay.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
The md5 mis match may be because of you renaming the back up with spaces in the title. Happened to me once. As above post says flash new rom, gain root, amend back with no spaces restore back up. All the best .

Hallo,
My HTC Wildfire (Buzz), i made it S-OFF , Rooted it (i guess) and succeessfully changed its rom to MIUI 2.3.7 . Before changing the rom i backed up the stock rom .The problem comes to whenever i boot to recovery and reach to a point where i am to select if i want to install zip file from sd cards and other selection, i am not able to install or access anything from sd card. Even when i tried to restore the backup using Rom Manager it fails me guys !
> I really want to restore the back up or install another very stable rom compatible with my HTC Wildfire
> When i hold vol- and power buttons and try to go to recovery, the phone hangs at the Revolutionary logo !
THE MIUI is slow and can't withstand stress as every time i try to do something fast it displays error messages. Pleasse help !!!

I had this problem you mention with CWM in my N1: it couldn't access my sdcard. I finally had to flash a different recovery (Amon Ra in my case) which reads the sdcard with no problem at all.

ODIN is for Samsung phones. You need to run an official HTC RUU (ROM Update Utility) to restore HTC phones to stock.
@OP -
Download the RUU exe from the link below, connect your phone to computer via USB and run it as administrator. Your phone will be completely erased and restored to stock. I;m not sure if SD card will erased too, so make a backup of all its contents to be safe.
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...3.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe
If you're from India, then run this instead -
http://htcruu.com/securekey.php?fil...45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142213_signed.exe
You can find a list of more RUUs for your phone, for other regions and carriers at http://htcruu.com/?dir=Buzz
You've certainly messed something up, and your SD card might be corrupted too, so if you're not very knowledgeable about what you're doing, you're better off restoring to stock and starting over rather than trying a bunch of different fixes and messing up your phone more.
I just flashed the latest stable 10.1.3 from CyanogenMod (released September 23) and now my IMEI is blank. Is there any way for me to restore it? I stupidly do not have a backup of the efs folder. When I check the efs folder now, it's empty. Is there anything I can do? Any help is appreciated.
Try this.maybe it could help.
Take out your provider card.Boot the Rom without it.then turn it off and put the provider card in. Boot your rom now.Is your imei back?

I tried this on mine when my IMEI number was changed by a rom. It didn't work for that. I reflashed to stock and mine came back. Can't get a back-up because it won't stay rooted same reason I can't restore it with Titanium. I started a thread on that issue.
I don't think titanium does imei... Reboot to stock or restoring an efs folder backup are the only ways I know how to restore an imei

Flash to stock with Odin. Get cwm recovery from the essential hard to find files thread in Dev section. Then flash cm7.2.0 backup imei from cm7 then flash to what ever ROM you want

You were correct. Titanium restores Android ID. It had been a while and had forgotten what is corrected by Titanium. Thanks clicked.

I used SOC, got root to stick, was able to load RemICS without IMEI changing. Thanks clicked.
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I was at work when it happened, so I kind of panicked, lol. When I got home I flashed the stock image with Odin and now it's working fine. But I have since made a backup of the efs folder so I can just restore the folder if it ever happens again. You always learn the hard way, lol.
