Hi all!
I'm running Cyanogenmod 7.1 nightly 116 version on my GS2.
My wifi has been running perfectly until eariler today.
It works perfectly with wifi's that have no password-protection but when I try a network with WPA/WPA2 PSK security it just goes
connecting-->scanning-->connecting-->disconnected.
I've used this wifi many times before and as late as earlier this morning.
Do you guys have any idéa what might be wrong with it?
I have tried changing what channel to use and I've forgotten the wifi connection and tried to reconnect but it doesn't work.
I've also cleared cache and dalvik cache of phone (don't know if it makes any difference but I thought why not).
Any help is appreciated!
Best Regards
siwan
I think that if you check the Q&A section of this forum, you'll find a bit about this.
I think I read that if you power cycle the router (off then on again), it might work.
Just make sure you have the right type of security (WEP, WPA etc) and the right password first.
Sorry I've restarted the router as well, just forgot to mention it.
And yes password etc. is correct

Hi there , you should probably post your question in the CyanogenMod forums or at least on the Nightly thread. Anyway chances that someone will answer properly are slim , since it's about the nightly builds , which are very unstable and experimental only. And the only rule about nightlies is "you don't ask for ETAs". Therefore your best bet is probably to flash the stable 7.1 CM version from
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?type=stable&device=galaxys2
I've had it and it and WiFi worked perfectly both on WEP and WPA protected networks.
Come to think of it , everything worked perfectly , at least for me
Good luck mate
Well, funnily enough the wifi was working again when I woke up this morning even though I didn't do anything different,
I guess the nightlies are a bit of a mystery
Well thanks for the replies guys!

I just got the thing and it came with GSB3.6 and it had SO many problems i put 3.7 on there and most where fixed, but my wifi disconnects every 15 seconds or so. any known fixes?
EDIT: Tried OMFGB, Same problem. i hope its fixable. someone help meeee
Check Settings, Wireless & networks, Wi-Fi settings, then tap Menu and Advanced. Change the 'sleep' policy (try "Never") and see if it continues disconnecting.
I would like to think that the default setting, "When screen turns off" does not kick in when there's an active connection...
I've used GSB v3.7 (Odex) with my WiFi without any problems.
Based on the fact that you observe the same symptoms with two different dev ROMs, I would suspect that the problem is either (a) your WiFi hardware, (b) your WiFi router, or (c) a software incompatibility between your WiFi router and the Eris' device driver (very similar from ROM to ROM).
You could try installing a completely stock ROM, for instance the
[ROM] HTC Eris March 2011 OTA Stock ROM - v2.41.605.6
(Note that although this ROM is "completely stock" and "not rooted", flashing it does not touch your recovery boot, so you treat it just like any other dev ROM).
Running this test - if you still experience the problem - will exonerate any Eris dev ROM, and you have a couple of options at that point:
- see if your WiFi router has a firmware update available (router firmwares contain bugs, too). I have experienced incompatibilities with the Eris which were solved by flashing WiFi routers to newer firmware.
If you try that and you still experience problems, you actually still won't know if the problem is (a) or (b) - but if you take your phone to a Starbucks or other place with a WiFi hotspot available, and you still experience problems of the same nature, then it is time to suspect that the problem is "(a)" - hardware trouble with your handset.
good luck

I switched the router from duel band N to single channel G, and now i only disconnect every 45 minutes or so.
also i tried swapping routers to a diff one, and then my dads DX, his wifes Droid, nor my Eris, could connect at all, under any settings. so it seems Android has alot of issues with wifi? anyways, i still disconnect, but not enough to bother me. thanks for the replies!
as much as it might suck, you should try doing a full wipe of data/dalvik and see if it fixes the issue. i had gone from 2.4 or so up to 3.7 without doing a wipe, and eventually things started to happen (widgets would not show up for new programs). i did a full wipe and everything is working great now.
I also am having wifi issues, didn't have them til I put the gingerbread cyanogen rom on.
I will do some more trouble shooting today and see if I can narrow down some of the variables. I have a Buffalo router with WPA2 for security on it. Some have suggested the security, but then I've talked to others that have WPA2 set up and no problems.
The wifi was working previously, did a full wipe of data and dalvik when I installed. I am running 3.2 or something close to that, haven't upgraded to the most recent version yet.
SO. Theres my info. But I love the rom and won't get rid of it, even if it is the rom.
My husband is fine just running 3G.
i have a linksys wrt54g running ddwrt using wpa2 with no problems, gsb 3.7 on my eris.

In general, WiFi compatibility from clients to APs is far worse than most people expect; I've experienced interop problems with all sorts of gear. It is hard to draw general conclusions, as the results you get are highly dependant on specific hardware models & firmware versions.
About the only generality that can be stated is this: the more bells and whistles you enable on the AP, the more likely it is you will experience a problem.
FWIW, my GSB 3.7 Odex Eris seems to work flawlessly with a Linksys WRT54G with WPA2. I think I have multiband (A/B/G) turned off in favor of G-only.
cheers

I certainly wouldn't say that.

Yeah I wouldn't say that either. I've had my Inc for a year, never had any problems with it, and like I said before this rom, no problems with wifi.
I also have an android tablet. No problems with stock.
So clean install with 3.7, did data wipe and cache, first thing I did was try to get wifi going, all it does is scan. Entered my SSID and everything. Says it's not in range. Bah.
Ok still having this issue; posted in the MIUI/WIUI thread in development but thought I'd try here too. Had the problem on WIUI and MIUI.us from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486391, using the KH7, KJ4, and KK6 modems. When I go from mobile data to wifi, everything works fine. In my testing today, when I leave it alone for 11-15 minutes without use (leaning more towards the 15 minute time, had it happen once at 11) and turn it back on (with wifi still on), I cannot use the internet at all. I have to turn off the wifi and wait for mobile data to kick back in and it works. Also tried turning wifi off, waiting about 10 seconds while mobile data started back up and flipped the wifi back on again and it works fine. Never had this problem until now (first time using MIUI on this phone). I may have to go to CM7 or a "stock" ROM but really enjoying the MIUI niceties so hoping to figure this out.
This worked for me with WIUI

Was that directed at me?? I originally asked in the Dev thread, no answers so figured the Q/A is best, am I wrong?

What problem does this actually fix? I know the static IP won't work on my home network, not sure of the one at work, but if I have to assign a static IP I might as well just toggle it off and on, though that itself is annoying enough to leave MIUI (and that says alot because I have refallen in love with it since my Captivate days)

Yes, you are. Do NOT double post; it fills up the board, and is against the rules.

Hey guys, currently running Virtuous Prime right now. But whenever I flash a Cyanogenmod ROM (CM 10, CM9 RC and Nightlies) I can't reonnect to Wifi. Right now I'm sending this from my Prime without any issues. But if I flash a CM ROM, suddenly I can no longer connect to wifi. Wifi turns on, and it can recognize any potential networks it can connect too... but whenever I type in the WEP, it doesn't seem to allow me access to it. Anybody have any ideas? Does my Prime just not like Cyanogenmod?
Thanks in advance.

The plot thickens. Just for the heck of it, I decided to try and flash another JB ROM (Black Bean) and this time after trying to connect to wifi, I got nothing... but then I thought, why not set up a hotspot on me 3D? And I got wifi through that... the problem is, I only get a solid 300kbps on it.
So my question is, is it possible to have your mac address change when flashing a ROM? I always thought it was hard coded in (as I flash new ROMs on my 3VO all the time, and used to do the same on my Triumph). That's how my wifi is set up though, you have to manually enter your MAC address into the computer to get it to work... and for some reason I decided not to check it when I went on Black Bean.
A final word, no my hotspot is not encrypted.
i'm pretty sure that the mac address can be masked by software to change the mac address.
but no idea if any of the roms do that.
just find out the mac address for both roms and check?
All I can say is... WTF.

Or you can just register your new mac and say "cool it works"
Hey, I just wasn't expecting this. I'm a flashaholic and it's never happened on my Evo 3D or Triumph. I mean, I certainly will. I just think it's weird... Thanks for helping me out with my cluelessness guys.
This may be something that they want to document.

They know, at least I have seen incidences throughout the thread.
I just installed the May 2 build of CM10.1 on my Razr Maxx (XT912). My bluetoothe headset and obd2 dongle pair without problems.
My Polar H7 heart rate sensor, however, refuses to pair. (My Razr doesn't even see it.)
When running stock, I can pair it without problems. It also pairs easily with my laptop. So I'm pretty sure the device is okay.
According to Polar, this is a Bluetooth 4.0 device. They also mention it supports 'Bluetooth Smart', whatever that is.
I tried posting this in the CM10.1 development thread, but apparently I'm not allowed to post there. I also tried going to the CM10.1 bug tracker, but the page didn't load.
Is this a known issue with CM10.1? Or, does anyone know of a way to get the pairing to work? Thanks!!!
It could be a bad install try installing all over again fresh. Also you need 10 posts to post there so just hang around make some posts if you can and see if you can post again. I you can also read through the threads of cm 10 to see for a fix
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk 2
I believe cm10 still having some bugs including Bluetooth so try to flash different rom (full working ) that will resolve ya problem
Edit : i had the same problem with cm10 while it was ok with stock jellybean .
Read the cm10 op i think they have mentioned some issues around cm10.
So onwards try to flash full working custom ROM if ya don't wanna face this trouble in future
Thx
Hit the thx button if i helped ya in anyways
Thanks guys. I had already tried the suggestions from the CM10.1 thread, including clearing data for 'Bluetooth Share'. I agree that any of the ROMs based on the stock kernel probably have a better chance of success. Since the device does appear when I search for it when running the stock ROM.
I was just hoping maybe someone else ran into this and had a workaround. Or, at the very least, to let the developers know about the bug.
Thanks for taking the time to reply...

Did you clear data for 'Bluetooth Share', or something else?
install the rom good yesterday cm 11 dated 08.05.2014 the only problem I find is the wifi turn detects networks but does not connect to any network wanted to know if there is any fforma repair or if anyone else has this problem.
Never had this issue & only use CM on this phone. Try an earlier nightly.
