[Q] Audio through micro usb does not sound good - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Audio through the micro usb port is heaps different from audio through the headphone port. I just bought the official car dock. The audio quality is just tinny and no warmth/bass.
I don't have any other means to test if it's the dock that's the problem. I asked the creator of VillainRom and was told it could be kernel-related. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Line-out from the phone is not amplified. So try plugging it into a headphone amplifier first and don't listen to straight line-out.

I aslo have noticed that thru the bluetooth streaming to the Ford Explorer it is also crappy quality. Does the bluetooth have a upgrade that improve the quality ????
I am not rooted and using 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance...

In-ear headphones with mini usb ?

Is there any good quality in-ear headphones possible to use with TD2 without usb - 3,5 mm adapter ? If so link please !
...only for hearing music, or also for using the phone (needs a microfone)?
i'm thinking of buying one... i preferable want one that has the mic support
I doubt you will find any because the usb port on the TD2 is from HTC which means no one else uses it. Only headset which uses that port is from HTC themselves.
these things exist. a quick search with google... and then just use your own in-ear headphones

i have one these adapters but it won"t help you if you want stereo in music.....only mono and that is not sound quality in my opinion..

The HTC adaptor supports stereo, your headset must also be stereo.
I used to run out of HTC adaptor into cassette and had stereo music.

[Q] Can audio be routed through 3.5mm jack whenusing the MHL adapter?

I've just received the MHL adapter and am excited to be able to use my monitor to display the phone's screen. But my monitor does not have a audio output, so the audio through the HDMI cannot be played. I've rooted and am on the Cognition 1.07 ROM, So is there a hack to route the audio through the 3.5 mm jack when sending the video through the HDMI using the MHL adapter?
Thanks guys,
Did you work out a way to do this? I am thinking of buying an MHL adapter but like you my display does not have sound.
I need to know an answer to this! My monitor doesnt have speakers and theres no way for me to hear the video!
My Dell monitor has 5.1 channel analog 3.5mm sockets at the back for HDMI audio output.
on my SG2 I still can use the audio jack for audio output (headset or just go into any amplifier-audio_in, or any computer etc....) when I use the HDMI cable for TV.
Hey RbbChan what ROM are you using?

Hey how did you get it to work? Which ROM and Kernel?
Same problem for me guys...that's a very unpleasent situation!
It can be solved via software though, I'm pretty sure because there is a lag of about half a second between the audio disappears after I connect the HDMI cable, it can't be hardware only.
Is there a place in this forum when we can ask developers to try and find a fix in their custom ROMs ?
I tried this and it worked (audio through my headphones) but the audio also came out through my TV.
VillianRom 2.42/Ninphetamine Kernel.

Muting the TV ought to do the trick,no?
Thats always a viable option.

Thank you Killer Bee! It works!!!
I know this thread is a couple of months old but I just wanted to say this saved me from buying an unnecessary $100+ HDMI audio breakout. The headphone jack fit the bill since my new monitor doesn't have audio output.
I'm having the same issue as OP (no sound through headphone jack on SGSII while MHL adapter plugged in). From the other posts it seems like using VillianRom 2.42/Ninphetamine Kernel would work?
Would any other roms & kernels work?
Thanks

[Q] USB Audio quality and volume question

Hi,
I just got my droid razr maxx and a car dock !
I was wondering if there is anything i can do to improve audio quality and volume while streaming from the usb/audio cable that comes with the dock? i love being able to just mount my phone and be on the go.
the music sounds much better and louder with the 3.5mm jack, i wish i could get this thru the usb also
thanks in advance!
Same issue and question here. Wondering if anyone ever found a solution?

Usb audio to hifi??

Hello guys, I've just recently bought the Onkyo CS 555dab and tried connecting my galaxy s3 via text usb port to play music. But it doesn't even connect so I'm thinking the usb on the Onkyo isn't meant for Android and only ipod and flash drives. But I was looking at this device which I think would work but want to be sure before I buy it. My Onkyo has got optical and coaxial inputs at 24bit so I was thinking of usb to optical. I can't post links just yet but it's called USB Sound Box from maplins website.
I'd just use the usb from the galaxy to the usb sound box then optical lead from that to the hifi. Would this produce audio??
Also I used the 3.5mm jack to RCA and the sound is terribly low n no bass at all. I read bout EU regulations and them lowering the out it via headphone jacks.
Hope someone knows. Thank you.
Bump
Use a decent ROM with some jacked up audio improvements. I used 3.5mm to my stereo and the sound is superb.
There are a multitude of converters out there for just this.

Bluetooth DAC?

Is it possible to get the Hi-Fi DAC working with a Bluetooth headset?
I think this would do the trick for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v10/themes-apps/dac-fix-hi-fi-dac-everywhere-t3274457
But really ??? on Bluetooth??? I think you would just be using up more batter for no better sound due to what Bluetooth does.
It's impossible to have the DAC affect bluetooth sound. The data is sent to the bluetooth device.... You would need to plug in a aux cable and plug it in to a bluetooth adapter and well just don't do because you'll need to carry a powersource for that and the adapter and just no lol. DAC - digital to analog converter, so yeah it's still digital when sent through the phones bluetooth.
For the best bluetooth audio get devices that support aptx and if you can find devices that are either bluetooth 4.1 or 4.0.

Even if you plug an Bluetooth adapter in the aux output you will not use the v10 dac for your headphones. It would be: phone DAC - Bluetooth ADC - Headphone DAC.
So probably it sound worse after the extra converting and it defenetly different as if you plug it directly in the phone (dac color the sound)

Ya, your definitely right. Converting to digital and analog back and forth 3 times is like taking a photo and putting it on a copy machine and then making a copy of the copy and another copy of the copy. It's not going to look good at all.
Yes the sound would get worse. I wasn't thinking when I posted this I am a audio engineer so I know a little something about audio lol! Having a long week and I wasn't thinking when I posted this just moved into a new house. I'm used to using viper4android on my Nexus 6 so when I couldn't do that on this phone I got frustrated. But anyhow I'll have to wait for root thanks anyways members of xda! Appreciate the responses!
